To die for French toast. We love this place and swing by often. I also enjoy the eggs in a basket and the omelets.

Heading off for a nice Sunday drive we sought out a new place for breakfast. The Kettle was along our route and Bill seemed sassy from his review replies I couldn't resist checking the place out. Early on a Sunday morning (8:30/9) there was plenty of seating available and no wait. Friendly faces greeted and sat us immediately. Our drinks in nice BIG mugs were on the table even before we could decide what to order. For me the Buffalo chicken sandwich on special caught my eye and I was sweating by the end of it. Great flavor, good heat, chicken extending far past the bun a win for me. For him, not so much. His omelet was on the small side, and favors were lacking. His side of scrapple thin - his toast unbuttered. Nothing worthy of complaining or sending back but definitely not like omelettes that we are used to getting. I would give The Kettle a solid 3.5 for the friendly service, comfortable atmosphere, and the chicken sandwich. Perhaps when in the area again we may stop back for another try read more

Don't bother coming here anymore. New management made the place worse. We had to Continuously ask for basic service like cutlery and water. Took over 30 minutes to get them Because the staff just disappeared after taking our order. Then treated us as unreasonable for asking for napkins. The food was lackluster. First time in a while I had undercooked fries, which seems hard to do. My BLT and A was just two slices of bread with a chunk of lettuce. We come here often and usually love the food and service, so it's disappointing to leave this review. During our last visit, the restaurant was only half full, yet we waited nearly an hour for our food while others who arrived later were served first. We flagged it to our server, but no apology or accountability was offered. When the food finally came, still nothing--and the check was full price. We asked for a discount and were given $4 off. A simple apology or explanation would've gone a long way. We're reasonable people, even with a fidgety one-year-old with us, but being dismissed made the whole experience frustrating. read more

There's street parking as well as a municipal lot with a kiosk for paying. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor on the corner of Darby and Brookline. We were able to sit outside. There were many options on the breakfast and lunch menus as well as the specials. I decided on the Kettle Rancheros and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich. I had a cup of hot tea which my server refilled without me even asking. Everything was delicious. The people were friendly. They do not have Coke products. I think we'll be back again to try more of the delicious options!! read more

Honestly I don't know how this place isn't more popular. It's legit the best brunch spot in the neighborhood. The staff are nice and hardworking, and it honestly has one of those small-town diner vibes even though the restaurant itself is kinda modern. It's homey, but the menu items have some flair that make it worth coming out for. I got some kinda scramble and it was great. Pretty sure there was pesto in it. And spinach. Anyway who cares, it was delicious. I also got coffee, which is bottomless and they make sure to keep their promise. I had to practically snatch my cup away from the waitress. But wow that is some high quality coffee that I really appreciate. As someone who's always looking for good food in the Eastern Delco/Monto/etc area, definitely check this place out if you're around. read more

I have been to Kettle a few times and I just love it. The staff is friendly and helpful. The decor is warm, welcoming, and inviting. But, of course, you go to the restaurant for the food. It's delicious! Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out and everything I've tried has been spectacular! I've tried the omelets, the eggs, the belgian waffles, and the nutella french toast. They have all been incredibly delicious. I have not been able to stop thinking about the omelet with mashed potatoes and scallions. Really spectacular! I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. These five are just for the corned beef hash. Some of the best I've had. Tender, seasoned well, full of onions and potatoes. My server (Marie ... who recommended and was deserving of 5 stars herself), brought out salt, pepper, hot sauce. No need . The flavor was already there. The La Colombe coffee was brewed perfectly (coffee could get 5 stars too), and Marie was sure to keep my cup full and warm. Oh, and they have a counter (5 stars for that too... lol). Maybe it's because I'm just some ole blue collar worker, but I've always felt more comfortable at counters and bars, than I have in a table or booth. This place used to be full with the previous owners. We were surprised that it was almost empty on a Saturday and this should have been a red flag. The ambiance is meh....The service was not good (I am being generous) they forgot the cutlery, we had to ask twice. The food was tasteless and look unappealing, I don't even know how to describe it. I've heard so many positive things about this place, I decided to give it a try. Stopped by on a Monday morning, it was not yet 8am, but it's already open. I ordered coffee and omelette, my friend ordered eggs & toast, a side of beef hash and coffee. The food came fairly quick. The presentation of the food is nice. However, the food was really just ok. It's tasteless and bland. My friends food was ok too. I think it's because of COVID, they might have increased price, which I understand. This place was always a fan favorite of mine... until it went under new ownership. I usually love coming in on the weekdays and being served by either Marie or her son (both hilarious and personable!) unfortunately recently it's been seeming very chaotic, many people running around, cannot tell who the owner is, the man or the other woman. Rarely do you ever find a restaurant with take out food as good as dine in. BUT The Kettle continues to nail it. Ordered take out from here over the weekend and was blown away with how kind the woman on the phone was. She was just as pleasant in person. I've eaten here a few times now so I feel like I can give a review. This place is really good! They always have a good selection of healthy eats along with a good selection of decadent ones. You know, the kind that sounds more like dessert than a meal. Lol On my most recent visit, my friend and I came here for lunch. She ordered the hummus platter and loved it. It was really pretty (see picture)! This was on the specials menu on the board. I ordered the roasted peach salad with grilled salmon. Delish! It was so good. I ate every bite. This was also one of the specials. There were several other specials that sounded great. The regular menu has both breakfast and lunch items. The downside of this restaurant is that it is not very big so if you come here at a popular time on the weekend for instance, you may have to wait for a table. Fortunately, there is an outdoor seating area so on a nice day there are additional tables where you can sit. The staff here is great. Very friendly, service is fast. Have eaten there many times.the food is acceptable.nothing more sometimes less.if one doesn't have time issues ,it can be seen as an argument for eating at home. The place is crazy crowded.given the state of public health and continued presence of covid,the seating is way too crowded. The most alarming aspect of the establishment is the petty and condescending attitude of management. If you miss the poor attitude of ones teenage kid ,from years past,go to this restaurant and talk to the owner. That person is a screaming argument for checking yelp and heading for your car. We stopped in here on a Monday as it was one of the few places we had been to before that was open on Monday. This visit was better than the last, perhaps because it was not so busy at the mid-morning breakfast hour. The hash was still good and such a generous portion that 1/2 came home with us. I really wanted to be impressed with this restaurant based on the reviews listed on YELP. But for me this was an epic fail. It started with, service then the food. The upside is, the restaurant is very nicely decorated and a friendly inviting feel once you walk in. You are greeted and seated promptly with a friendly but young service staff. That's probably the issue with the service. My server was slow and forgetful as I had to ask for water more than once. My order took over 20 minutes to come out of the kitchen it was simply, scrambled eggs, home fries, bacon and toast. It was delivered at room temperature. This was my second choice because the restaurant makes the same mistake that many others do when it comes to making grits, so I won't hold them wholly responsible for the bad trend. Grits can be smooth and creamy without adding dairy products such as milk or heavy cream. When you add dairy products, grits become cream of wheat or southern milk grits not Grits! But it gets worse I wanted home fries however I received, french fries cut into quarters with the fried onions I requested thrown on top. Although I absolutely love french fries they are NOT home fries so please don't market them the same! I'm out never to return. read more

My friends and I have been long time patrons. ( I grew up on the counter of Dr, Sauber's Pharmacy and Max Factor's Cherry Cokes. - who knows now who they were.) Last year, Connor Quin sold the business. for the most part service did not change, Marie and Joey were still the heart and soul. We knew them and they knew us. Going to breakfast when you were greeted by name made you something special, Marie and Joey even knew what you liked. Kettle was the "Cheers" of Brookline where "everybody knew your name." Yesterday we went to Kettle. Marie and Joey were gone. the young girls, very nice, were clueless. When we ordered we asked for separate checks. When it was time to go they told us that they couldn't do that,. We explained - all you have to do is to consider us as two individual customers. Not that difficult. It took several explanations. In the end, they understood. but that is not the point. Kettle's new management has no idea of community. Yes, they will continue to do well But they will not have the soul. We were a party of 2 and got right in. Glanced over the menu and I knew walking in I wanted Eggs. Went with 2 Eggs any style (scrambled), bacon, hash browns and a side of toast (rye). Do you believe that they wanted an additional $2.50 for an English Muffin. Ummm No. When asked if I wanted peppers and onions in my hash browns or plain hash browns. I immediately perked up, I wanted those peppers and onions.. Our breakfast came out and I had hash browns with peppers and onions just poured on top of fried potato cubes that came from a bag. They were terrible they had no flavor, put some paprika in there. Use fresh potatoes you are a breakfast spot with many options in the area. Make a batch with the onions and peppers already mixed in. I get it some people do not like them that way. The eggs looked they were poured out of a carton. I was very disappointed. Sorry Kettle I will take my business elsewhere. Home away from home was my first impression of the Kettle; it felt like I was visiting someone's home down south, modern but cozy with warm greeting as soon as you open the door. My hostess was so sweet, "Hey Sweetie, what can I get you?" , she had me from there on. The food..minimum wait and delicious. I ordered my breakfast Staples: pancakes, eggs and home fries. All was good, but the home fries were my favorite. I love when my onions are caramelized with love; it showed someone took the proper prep time. They give you a lot of sugar to put on things like the oatmeal, but there should be some honey for healthier options. The cream of mushroom is bland. It was a good base soup, but it was missing something. Like bigger mushroom chunks mixed in. I don't know.. all the food we tried was just bland. Had the salmon scramble for breakfast at my most recent visit to this local restaurant. Though I've been here many times and had many regular dishes and specials, the salmon scramble is likely my favorite. Lots of smoked salmon with capers, red onion and eggs is a great mix. Leaving this joint feeling unimpressed and grossed out about the quality of my meal. Food: Generic diner style breakfast served here with a couple more intricate dishes. Maybe it's I showed up here early or maybe because I had pancakes and my dining partner had a standard egg dish but really nothing great. The pancakes were massive and the waitress laughed about how she could have warned us but thought otherwise. The buttermilk pancake was dense and had no flavor. There were some scattered baking chocolate chips inside and on top of the pancake. This meant that the bites with chocolate were overly sweet considering how much of a sweet tooth I am. The pancake was difficult to cut through likely because the ratio of flour to wet ingredients was off. It was the weirdest manoeuvring of my fork to access the pancakes' internal fluffiness (which was underwhelming). The eggs and toast are eggs and toast. You can't seriously mess them up(?) but they seemed fine. The coffee was over-brewed which made it very bitter. I ended up not drinking my coffee due to my first coffee having clotted milk all inside it. Major turnoff and I headed to McDonalds for my coffee fix. Service: Early morning service can mean that you have a bit less attentive staff. However, I walked in with jovial staff chatting with two regulars. That seemed like a good start to the morning...Unfortunately, that kind of jovial service was not in the cards for my table. We seemed to be an utter after thought. We waited for a bit after finding out the favorite album of a regular and the chi chat that accompanied. We waited for our waitress to notice us and avoid eye contact when we were served spoiled milk, we had no one around during our meal or refills of coffee, we were not offered water...I can go on but the highlight was the waitress reiterating the hilarity of not informing us of the size of the pancakes and how someone once tried to eat three of them and "it didn't end well". To get our bill, we had to physically go to the counter and wait for our waitress to decide we were worthy of attention. This place gets a two for the simple fact that there was parking and my dining partner thought the eggs were fine. Although spoiled milk is a big no so this is more of a 1.5 star review. read more

How long does it take to throw a few eggs and toast together? They had the tables and chairs up and the people inside looked noticeably rushed out. Very unprofessional!
