First Watch is very delicious and provides some great healthy choices in comparison to other restaurants. I especially love their avocado toast and tonics. Cheese grits are good but they put no seasoning in them whatsoever so I believe they need to work on them as I had to add allot of butter, salt and pepper myself. read more

I didn't even know it was a chain until I posted about it, and my friend in VA said they have one in Hampton! First Watch serves breakfast, brunch/lunch...some examples from their online menu: Tri-fecta - Two fresh cage-free eggs, any style with either a light and airy Belgian waffle or a multigrain pancake. Plus your choice of bacon, turkey sausage or pork sausage link. Farmer's Biscuit Sandwich - Jones Dairy Farm all-natural pork sausage, an over-easy cage-free egg and Sharp Cheddar on a grilled, freshly baked biscuit topped with lemon-dressed arugula, mayo and apple butter. Served with fresh, seasoned potatoes. They also serve "seasonal" food such as: Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal - Ancient grain oats slow cooked with pureed pumpkin and topped with pepitas and dried cranberries. Served with maple cream and a freshly baked orange cranberry muffin. Are you hungry yet? Because I am! I LOVED their avocado toast with a side of eggs. A cool Sunday after after church at one of our favorite breakfast spots so all would be right the world...so we thought. They just opened a new patio so we decided that we would sit outside. What we didn't know was that meant sacrificing service. We saw our waitress twice and the person that took our order (not our waitress) knew nothing about the menu (which changed). Now for the food. The food came out cool and we were outside the it turned cold pretty quick. My daughter and I were excited about the new Short Rib Poutine Hash which was described as a sharable; it was barely that but thankfully my daughter ordered her own. The elements of the dish married well together but it lacked the different textures that you get in poutine (plus cold melted cheese sucks). My son ordered the TriFecta after finding out that the Bacon Cheddar pancakes went from secret menu item to no more item. The trifecta came out looking like a littles kids menu item and was far from what we had been served in previous visits. As with most of my reviews, service can be the difference between 4stars or 2 stars. Well, we went to pay at the register and the young lady who took our check was just rude for no reason. I actually was taken aback because we never experience this at First Watch. My family said that this "new First Watch" attitude was awful and they would be going our other breakfast spots. I love how every location of First Watch on Yelp has four stars! Look down the line, they all have exactly four! I agree, four is the exact right number. The food is inventive brunch items available every day until 2/230 p.m. Usually you have to wait until weekends to have fancy brunch. I had the eggs with bacon, avocado and potato hash. While my eggs were closer to over hard than over medium, the food was super tasty. It easily could've been greasy, but it wasn't. All the veggies were cooked correctly: potatoes were crispy on the edges but soft inside, onions were soft, etc. What's keeping it from 5 stars? It's a tad expensive for a Florida breakfast option. I spent $18 for eggs/hash, ice tea, tip and tax. Not super expensive but it seemed a little high. The staff also need to chill. If the plate is still in front of someone with food on it, don't ask if they are done. We had at least 6 people ask to take our plates. I was still chewing my last bite when mine was grabbed from under me. The staff should relax on taking plates. It makes the service feel rushed and the prices seem too high. High prices should yield slower service. Overall, if you love fancy brunch on any day of the week, I'd recommend trying First Watch. read more

Absolutely in love with this place. We are new to the area and decided to stop in for breakfast. We had to wait a little bit, about 45 minutes but now we know that they have an app that will cut down on that wait time for us in the future. I know we will also order to go in the future, especially after a few too many beers at World of Beer down the street. I ordered the Elote Street Corn Hash which was a special. It was outstanding, all of the flavors popped and it was powerful without being too spicy. The millionaire's bacon was my boyfriend's favorite and even though I do not care for bacon on a normal day, this bacon was excellent. The maple syrup added a lot of flavor without being too sweet. Our server provided great recommendations and once we sat down, service was excellent and the food came out fast and hot. I will definitely be back to try more things and keep my eye on those specials! Looking forward to some pumpkin pancakes in the fall! Prices are decent, we just moved from Chicago where our meal would have easily cost much more. I like first watch restaurants. No matter which one I go to, I usually get the same experience. For those who have never been to first watch, it's a breakfast and brunch chain restaurant that serves really delicious (and huge) pancakes as well as healthy options. I decided to order the Benedict and while it was good, it took FOREVER to come (and by forever, I mean forever!). The server told us that they were really short staffed in the back so because of this, I'm not knocking a star off but if I come back (which I plan to do) and they are still slow as molasses, 2 stars!! Lol Seating is ample and because its in a popular shopping plaza, parking is ample as well. I've tried a lot of items on the menu and I always recommend their Floridian French toast, All of the pancakes, the eggs Benedict and the protein bowl! I was visiting the Tampa area for the weekend, we got there around 9am, and only had to wait about 15 minutes. Not bad for a Saturday morning! Their menu is the same as the location near me, which is a good thing, because I the omelet with avocado is awesome! And of course, the coffee is worth at least 2-3 cups!!! It never has that bitter taste. The OJ is fresh and delicious! The only drawback was the our whole order did not arrive together. Why 5 stars? Because I love me some First Watch. And this is the first time that I had the chance to join the waitlist via Yelp! - YES!!!!! This was such an amazing feature. We had a party of 6 and once we checked in, they just put the tables together and we were ready to eat! It felt like we were VIP :-) I mean.... I am, but yea. Haha! So I got my usual - avocado toast and blueberry pancakes. Yum yum! Such an amazing and filling meal. I always want to try something new, but end up getting the same thing. Oh! This place is a great "go to". I recommend doing your reservations thru Yelp in advance as they are constantly busy. If you don't do it in advance and don't mind sitting in close quarters with strangers, they have a first come first serve high top for about 6 people (don't quote me). They recently renovated giving them an even better rustic elegant farmhouse vibe! (Sounds weird but you'll see) THE FOOD. What you really want to know about. They have seasonal specials the wait staff will tell you about. There is always at least one item on that menu that is a MUST try. The usual breakfast menu has an elevated egg sandwich that is great and the farmhouse hash is a more "back to basics" must have. I wish I knew about check ins awhile ago. I've been to this location a few times and they have a great variety breakfast items. This is one of the better breakfast restaurant chains that I've been to. The restaurant is always clean with fun Farm themed art and decor. I've really enjoyed the food and haven't ordered anything that I didn't like. They're definitely worth a shot and I recommend ordering an item that comes with potatoes or pancakes. The reason I gave them four stars is because the service can be hit-and-miss. Sometimes you'll have someone very attentive and others you'll have someone who hardly stops by and leaves the tables around you dirty. LOVE this spot and I feel like they are so underrated! Amazing menu full off all different breakfast food, so many healthy options too. I started out with the kale tonic and I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. Next I had the million dollar bacon, it was smothered in maple syrup and I could not stop! For my main course I had the avocado toast and the eggs on top where cooked perfectly. Our server was very kind and we did go during the busy hours, but we did not wait long for our food. Ok I forgot to leave this yesterday, however, since we went back today I figure I'll leave one comment for both days.. lol So being that I've lived in Tampa, well Brandon for over a year now, I thought I was pretty familiar with the restaurants in the area... NOPE NOT AT ALL. All this time I thought this place was a bank but scrolling through Yelp as I do on a daily basis, I saw that a friend of mine had checked in and I saw food!!! OMG was I pleasantly surprised. I immediately told my better half lets go. When we got there it was 24 people ahead of us, but it was still early so the wait wasn't that bad and it went pretty quick. We also used the app "NOWAIT" which was AWESOME as well. Once seated, we had THEEEEEE BEST waitress (Sara), we told her that it was our first time there and she was so helpful and very personable. We loved her! Every question we had, she answered and gave us her "SARA's FAVS" as well which we appreciated. Note* Sara will make sure you get great choices!! She explained every damn thing so good we ordered: Butternut Squash Soup Pumpkin pancake Smoked Salmon Frittata Veggie Burger Orange Cranberry Muffin & coffee with pumpkin spice creamer ....only to turn right around and pretty much order the same thing today. This place use to be good. You might as well order dinner at breakfast--because that's how long it takes them to bring the food out. The servers are over extended the food is ok at best and because you have to wait 1 hour or more for your food with your young kids the experience becomes hellish. After 5 plus years I can assure you we won't be coming back. Follow through. Kids love the place we went back, they offered us a gift certificate which I have not used. This is my second visit to First Watch. My first visit was not good at all, so I thought I would give it some time and try it again before writing a review. Its been a little over a year. This review is based on food, service, cleanliness, atmosphere, and value. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Florentine, and my daughter had the kids chocolate chip pancake. My daughter loved the chocolate chip pancakes, obviously. My Eggs Benedict Florentine was just okay. The hollandaise sauce was bland, and the flavors just didn't seem to blend well. My potatoes were also flavorless. We sat at the community table, which was convenient because we were able to skip the wait to sit and order. The service was fast, friendly, and thorough. The dining area was clean, and had a lot of natural light from the big windows. The atmosphere is casual, and relaxed. As for the value, considering the price and quality of my meal, I would say it's a big fail. Other things to note, the fourier is small, and doesn't have enough seating. The customers attempting to pay their bill are blocked. It's just a big mess. A simple fix could be to put some more seating outside. A no smoking sign in front of the door wouldn't be a bad idea either (super gross and unappetizing to walk through a bunch of smoke to get inside). Overall, it's not terrible, but unless they make a drastic price change, I don't think I'll be back. read more

Had lunch on Saturday at First Watch in Brandon. Took advantage of the wait list which is always nice and in this case wait time was close to what we actually waited. Restaurant was crowded, servers wore masks and did sanitize tables between customers. Food and service was good. I went to the Brandon Causeway this morning at about 8:30. I sat at a table on the patio. I waited and could see servers going back and forth and even looking directly at me. No one came to my table. I then went inside and asked the cashier if the patio was open and she said yes. I told her I have been sitting out there and she said. "You have to check-in inside first." she did not ask if I would like or table or we can help you with that, nothing. There is no signage on the patio that instructs customers that they have to check in to sit on the patio. This total lack of concern and customer service made it easy for me to walk away. In these hard times for the restaurant industry you would think that dining establishments would up their game and excel at simple common courtesy to their customers. Apparently First Watch does not subscribe to that company philosophy. That is fine, there are other places that want our business. read more

Another excellent brunch. Have been to the restaurant in Tampa and first time in Brandon. Had a short wait and then seated. Great menu selections of mostly pretty healthy options and daily special. Able to order lunch or breakfast at 11:00 so had an even harder time deciding. I had the breakfast tacos which were yummy. Came with 3 and beans. I could only eat one. Very filling with excellent flavor. Others with me had waffles and eggs and chickichanga. Not a chimichanga but chickichanga. He said it was great with chicken, chorizo sausage, eggs, and seasoning. I come to First Watch at least once every two weeks or so because the food is so amazing. Personally, I have never had undercooked or cold food contrary to other reviews. The orange juice is always fresh and the ingredients are on point in every dish. The interior is tastefully designed with bright colors everywhere. They have wonderful staff that always have smiles on their faces, which customers truly do appreciate. Wait times can get pretty lengthy on the weekend mornings so plan accordingly if you want to be in and out before 11am. My personal favorites thus far have been their seasonal pumpkin pancakes, banana granola crunch pancakes, tri-athlete, siesta key, and breakfast scramble. I believe it is fairly priced for the food and quality that you get and it is always a pleasant experience - I highly recommend! read more

I really enjoy eating at this franchise. However, this location is too small. The wait is always a minimum of 20 minutes. Now that I have said that, it should be clear that the food is really good. Why else would people wait so long for brunch? The food is always fresh and delicious. The chikichunga, french toast and the krepe eggs are my favorite dishes. Party of 3 around lunch time, and we all ordered breakfast type items, as the "New American" menu items did not appeal to us. We all had scrambled eggs as part of our orders, and the biggest complaint was that we all agreed that the eggs were no hotter than room temperature. The other items served varied in temperature from hot to room temperature. Yes, we should have sent the orders back, if the waitress ever showed back up in the next 20 minutes. Ignoring the temperature complaint, the food was mediocre, the prices were high, and the service was lacking. Highly disappointed. Last 2 times I've gone they just not been good. I went (about 2 weeks ago) I ordered avocado toast and the avocado pit was "mashed" in with the avocado. It was definitely not edible, they replaced it and it was better. But then, I also ordered an iced coffee and i drank most of it to find something in the bottom. It was disgusting. And then today, we tried it again and our entire party complained about the potatoes. They were extremely salty. Though they offered to give us different sides we rejected because there was nothing else we wanted. They didn't do anything further and didn't even offer a discount for the inconvenience. I've never had issues with first watch but maybe it's time to call it quits on the Brandon location. read more

This updated review downgrades First Watch further. As much as we want to like this place there is always something, always an issue or two. This time there were several. We got notice from them that pumpkin pancakes were being featured for fall. Wife couldn't wait to get there as this is right up her alley. She ordered the trifecta with bacon and the pumpkin pancake. Her meal came out with burned bacon. The waitress tried to excuse it as that's the way their bacon cooks up. I'm sorry, burned is burned and no excuse will unburn it. The pumpkin pancake was flavorless. All this and my coffee, I like strong coffee, tasted burned too. It was so strong and burned I couldn't drink it. Fot $2.59 I want coffee I can drink. The ice water continues to be an issue. I don't know why it's so hard to bring us ice water when we ask for ice water. They still bring you a milk bottle filled with chilled water. I didn't ask for chilled water, I asked for ice water. And the prices. Our breakfast bill came to $24 and change. Two trifectas and two coffees. Premium prices. I don't mind paying premium prices for premium products. I'm not getting that here. Sadly I think we have paid our last visit to First Watch. read more

Today was my first time dining here with a party of 7 and everyone was completely satisfied. Our waitress, Amanda, did a fantastic job taking care of us the entire time. The place was very clean and comfortable. I ordered one of the quinoa bowls and omitted the eggs, cheese, and meat and added the seasoned potatoes instead. I also ordered the avocado toast and gave the eggs to someone else in my party. This was the most perfect brunch I've had in awhile! I mean it was so delicious!!
