Box of Cubans in Riverview is a great place to grab a quality Cuban sandwich. The restaurant is Cuban themed with the country in the logo, and plenty of Cuban decorations on the wall. It is a small takeout style restaurant with plenty of booth seating. I walked in and placed an order for a Cuban sandwich and a cheeseburger empanada. The food took about 8 minutes to come out and it was delivered to the table. This Cuban sandwich was excellent and it rivals some of the best in Tampa Bay. The empanada was not as great. The mojo mustard provided with the empanada was something unique to me but not great. As it stands, Box of Cubans has a great sandwich and a fun Cuban theme. I will return to try the bowls on their menu.
My wife and I just happened upon this place by accident. We had a very simple order, we ordered two Cuban sandwiches for takeout, as we were driving on a long distance road trip and this place was on our route. I've been eating Cuban sandwiches for over 50 years and I'm pretty picky. Most Cuban sandwiches I try are pretty underwhelming and often have the wrong ingredients. These sandwiches from Box of Cubans were absolutely amazing. The roasted pork was incredible and perfectly cooked / seasoned. I had large chunks of roast pork in my larger sandwich, (my wife's was slightly smaller). She was also shocked at how good the sandwich was. The bread was sublime. The cheese was perfectly melted and the pickles had a nice crunch, thin sliced and perfect flavor. The ham was great. No salami in these - which was a nice treat - for a Cuban sandwich from the Tampa area (IYKYK). Outstanding! 5 stars! We will definitely go back to try other menu items!
I really enjoyed our lunch at Box of Cubans, the food was made fresh and very good. I would say that the cuban here is really good, but not the best I've ever had. In fact, my sister got the chopped grilled cheeseburger and it was amazing! I would go back for that specifically. We also tried the black beans, which were not the greatest in my opinion. The service was wonderful, the ambiance was mediocre but the food was great! I will be back for sure!
I think the pictures of the Cuban sandwich speaks for itself. A very lackluster Cuban for the price. The flavor was delicious, but toppings were for sure, slacking. I will say everything else we had was outstanding like the rice and beans, the plantains, and the picadillo and plantain empanada. I think this place is an outstanding place for lunch with good food. It had the Cuban been bigger, I for sure would have rated a perfect five star.

I ordered the media noche and it was very tasty! The pork was juicy and flavorful, the bread was buttery and fresh. Perfect balance of meat to cheese to bread ratio. What was even better were the empanadas. The picadillo one with sweet plantains and picadillo inside was unreal! Quick and friendly service as well. Will be back!
It's a small place tucked in a shopping center. An array of authentic Cuban dishes and drinks. The sandwiches are top notch and the black bean bowl with protein (chicken) was outstanding. Staff and service are spot on no issues at all. The seating leaves a little to be desired. The table/chair combos inside are interconnected so you feel the movement of whomever sits behind you. Sit at the counter or outside for a more comfortable experience.
Listen, in the age of 10$ and 15$ hamburgers, this place doesn't necessarily rise to the occasion. I paid 14$ for a 7 or 8 inch long Cuban sandwich. Hardly wider than the width of the phone in your hand. Not only is it small, but they charged me 1$ per topping to add lettuce and onion. The sandwich is perfectly average. Tasted good but didn't come with fries or drink at a 14$ pricetag. I've had better tasting, larger Cuban sandwiches with fries and a drink in and around Tampa for less $. I wouldn't tell you NOT to order from this location, but it certainly wouldn't be my first recommendation. Probably wouldn't be my third.

When we arrived the place was busy with lots of customers, bathrooms were clean, tables were clean and great Cuban memorabilia surrounding the restaurant. Steak sandwich and Pan con lechon... AMAZING!!! My fav...steak sandwich!! The steak was very well seasoned and the mix of flavors was a wonderful ! Steak was juicy and all was fresh! The bread was nicely toasted and also fresh. This place is a must visit if you want to taste authentic Cuban sandwiches. I'm from the 305 area and I haven't had a steak sandwich this good in years!!!! To top it off! When we were leaving the manager asked us again if we enjoyed our food and treated us to some great authentic Cuban Espresso!!!
Mmmmm! Everything I had from Box of Cubans was wholly satisfying. Ordering online was an easy process. My order was promptly prepared and ready to be picked up. The interior of the restaurant is unassuming, yet bright and efficient. The Steak "Pan Con Bistec" Sandwich was delicious. The marinated meat was pleasingly peppery. A couple of the bites were a bit tough, but that didn't really bother me since it tasted so good. The Cheese Burger Empanada was golden, crispy yumminess. Ham Croquettes were very tasty, as well, just smaller than I expected. The Cilantro Aji and Mojo Mustard Sauces are out of this world! Give me buckets of those sauces. It was a meal that left me basking in the aftertaste of scrumptiousness. Go support this family-run small business. You'll be glad you did.
First place in my area that I found a chop cheese. Very authentic New York bodega style. The people here at this location are awesome and really truly love the food that they cook. Highly recommended.
OMG!!! We were passing through on our way home to GA from Naples. My husband was craving a Cuban sandwich.. we found these folks on yelp.. I ordered the steak sandwich and it was hands down the best sandwich I have ever had.. we will definitely be back! Service was great, staff were nice and my hats off to the chef!!

Stopped in for lunch. It has been a while since I've eaten here because I don't eat pork or beef, but my SO wanted a Cuban so I figured I'd get a turkey sandwich. Well to my surprise they have added bowls to the menu so I got a chicken bowl and MAN!!!! It's delicious! My SO got a Cuban and he said it was really good. read more

Alright y'all, here we go with the official review for Box of Cubans - 10451 Gibsonton Dr First things first -- the customer service? Absolutely loved it The guy at the front was on point the whole time. Even coming in right after the lunch rush, he made sure everything stayed clean and organized while still taking care of customers. That kind of attention to detail does not go unnoticed They were out of the sweet teas (I was hurt a little bit ), but overall the experience was still really good. Now let's get into the food because you already know that's what we're here for The chicken empanadas? Delicious. No complaints. The Cuban sandwich? It was good... but I'm gonna keep it real like I always do. The meat was flavorful, but it could've been more evenly distributed, and it didn't have that crispy bread texture I look for. Overall, it just didn't hit that top-tier level for me. So for this location: 8/10 Still a solid experience, still worth the visit -- but as of right now, the Wesley Chapel location is still holding that 10/10 crown And you already know I'm not done... I made a stop over to box of Cuban just for a quick bite. I ordered a egg and cheese empanada and con coffee leches. As for the taste of my egg and cheese empanada something was different about it. It did not taste like it used to. But my coffee was still delicious But I feel like I waited almost 20-25 minutes. Not sure if it was just due to a lot of orders but I will say they did have a lot of patrons in the restaurant. Overall ambiance it's appeared to be cleaned and organized and the food was smelling amazing. read more

As soon as you enter you are greeted with phenomenal customer service. The gentleman at the front told us the faves and we ordered that for breakfast. Talk about an amazing cuban sandwich! I loved everything about it. The bread was toasted to perfection. The meat to cheese ratio was great and the taste was outstanding. Also don't sleep on their french toast. It was very delicious! They give you syrup and a side of guava sauce. The staff was very welcoming and had great recommendations. Really good food! I had a breakfast sandwich and it was huge and delicious on Cuban bread. My husband had a Cuban and said it was really good. We also had banana and Nutella empanadas which were also delicious. The service was great and everyone working here was friendly. The ambiance was similar to a fast food restaurant, but with cool Cuban music playing. They also had a little bit of outdoor seating. A lot of customers came and went while we were there. One thing to note...if you are vegetarian, there are not many options on the menu for you. read more

I come here for the Cuban bread. The bread makes all their sandwiches that much more delicious for me. Service is always friendly. The restaurant has always been clean and they do their best to prep their tables clean for new customers. BOC is a Riverview Gem. They have become so popular in a relatively short time. Don't be surprised if there is a bit of a crowd. read more

This was my first time trying out Box of Cubans. I had a pickup order for a regular Cuban sandwich, turkey sandwich, steak Cuban sandwich, two beef empanadas, one chicken empanada and a slice of key lime pie. Everyone enjoyed their meal and thought it was tasty! The empanadas were a little dry so I probably wouldn't order them again but would like to try out more of their sandwiches. When I picked up my order, the staff was extremely friendly and engaged which I appreciated. read more
I had family in town and one of their must do items on their list was to have a good Cuban sandwich. I told them I had the perfect place! We came in and we're instantly greeted by two men. We ordered two classic Cuban sandwiches, a Pipo's breakfast sandwich, a beef and cheese empanada and a cafe con leche. They suggested their mojo mustard for the sandwiches and the empanada and even let us sample it before giving us a side of it. I'm not usually a mustard person but I gave it a try once and could not go without! I used to frequent the location they had at the gas station when it was open pre-covid and used to order a Cuban sandwich and a cafe con leche whenever I could make the drive from South Tampa. I was greeted so warmly. I don't know if I look like a local but was asked if I'd been there before then yeah you've been here Suggestions were on point. I wish my belly was bigger but I had to stop myself. Bowl was amazing with the picadillo and plantain cooked perfectly. Got the cuban empanada and one bite oh my!!!
