I've been looking for a good bakery in the area, and I think Moreno might be it. We tried the guava and cheese pastry, the chicken and spinach empanada, and the pan con bistec. I'm usually hesitant to order chicken empanadas because they tend to be dry, but Moreno's wasn't which is a relief. The guava and cheese pastry was delicious too. The pan con bistec was a little different from what I'm used to. Instead of a full steak with lots of onions, it was chopped steak with cheese that wasn't fully melted. It tasted good, but it could have been better. Overall, we had a great experience. The empanadas and pastries were a bit pricier than what I'm used to, but still worth it. read more

Im really usually here for the guava turnovers and anything else sweet. My aunt loves their chicken and rice but I have a sweet tooth, so yeah, I go to a bakery for baked goods. One of or better said, The best Latino Bakery in the whole Tampa area. I have not found quality vs price par to this location. Lot of their bakery goods are reminiscent to my childhood in Puerto Rico. It is extremely popular and gets a ridiculous amount of online orders on top of huge long lines in person. They have two sides inside. One for hot food you can order fresh and the right side for the huge Bakery stalls. Theres plenty of staff members to run the show promptly and as smooth as possible. I rarely come due to the long lines and the fact that i can just bake the whole menu at home. Literally my favorite bakery in Brandon. The tres leche top tier the best I've event had. They didn't have the pineapple upside down cake which is too two for me. The original cannolis were not available which is number 3 for me. But I was able to get my number one the tres leche so it was a successful trip. Moreno's bakery always has a great selection of bakery goods. Their sandwiches are always fresh, and their staff is always pleasant, although they always look like they are in a hurry. As a customer, you will feel rushed and pushed to the side quickly for the next guest. It is not a good feeling, but during busy times, it is expected. My one concern as I looked at the hot case today, the prices for hotcase combos is $16. I find that extremely high, for what it is. For example, yellow rice and chicken should not cost $16. You can do that in an Instant Pot in 20 minutes, and you can feed off of it for days with $16 worth of purchased raw chicken and rice. But I digress. I can tell that many folks are starting to feel the same. Because, at one point in time (I have been going there for 9 years), the hot case was always busy, and the food was constantly being replenished with fresh items because it was selling so quickly. Today, I can see the crust on the food for sitting there without being touched, and many were avoiding the hot case items. Times have changed, and prices have gotten expensive. One suggestion I may have is to focus on just offering the most popular items and lowering the price. Otherwise, you're wasting your time and resources. For $16 a plate, you can go to a slightly more upscale place. read more

Don't really get the hipe. Nothing I have ever had here was a standout, average at best. Fried shrimp,,,, no coating and no cocktail sauce. Waste of calories. The pastries, expensive and again, nothing I would order again. Limited whip cream options, just average cake with different buttercream frostings. Stuffed potatoe, bland and a little too wet. Recently was able to try their vegetarian plate/ pick entree and two sides. My favorite is the yucca, perfect lemon/garlic flavor and very well cooked! Place can get busy/packed but service is always fast. You order at different counters, they plate it up and save it until you are done shopping around/ordering and then pay at the register, you do have to wait in another line after ordering to pay, but things still move pretty smoothly. It can get noisy in there. Parking at times can be a challenge as the lot shares space with several businesses. But even with the minor inconveniences, it's still worth the stop. Saturday 9/14/2024 I first tried this spot nearly 2 years ago (before I really became a yelp foodie) and that previous review is hilarious cause my opinions have changed ALOT. I got a bread pudding slice $3, guava bread pudding slice $3, carrot cupcake $4, cookies n cream cupcake $4, cinnamon roll $3, media noche sandwich $9.50, and a chicken empanada $3.50. - The regular bread pudding was my favorite of the two and on the bottom it has a unquie crème brûlée type of bottom with a caramelized finish and slightly hardened texture. - The guava bread pudding was decent with a good amount of guava but I prefer the regular. - The cinnamon roll had a HUGE FALLOFF: there was a significant lack of icing (when compared to 2022) and it was below average in taste. - The carrot cupcake is a big cupcake that's topped with cream, cinnamon sugar, and nuts. It's solid but not quite as good as 2022. - The cookies n cream cupcake is a big cupcake but it's also not as good as my 2022 visit, just solid. - The media noche sandwich is still good but not as good I originally remembered. - The chicken empanada was okay but there was a lack of filling on both ends of it which just ended up being air pockets. Also the chicken filling itself was pretty dry & not moist at all. Overall, the items tasted better on my first visit (2022) vs my recent visit (2024). While I notice I greatly overrated this spot before, I can still admit that it's a cool spot for bakery & items food items that I would be open to returning to. read more

First visit this week and this bakery is all I thought it might be and more. The cases of pastries is quite long and well stocked. They have a good menu full of lunch and dinner items to choose from too. On this first visit we ordered Cafe Con Leche ($3.50),Chocolate Iced Donut, Napoleon ($1.65), Eclair ($3.00), Apricot Linzer Cookie, ($2.50) Brownie Cookie ($2.50)and 2 Quesitas ($2.10 each). As you can see, prices are low and these all were excellent. In fact, we can't wait to go back to try some items we didn't and will likely order some that we did this time. The staff is attentive and friendly. The dining room has several tables inside and there are tables outside on the wraparound porch. Let's start with the positive. Selection is very good. Food overall is good. Prices are high. Customer service is horrible. They ask for a tip which I gave and asked for my name. Instead of bringing the drink to a senior citizen over 70 they call out your name (wrong name) which can not be heard over the blarring music and just leave it on the counter while the servers talk among themselves in spanish. They don't even check to see who is picking up the drink. Wait till the many nearby homeless get wind of that! I get better service at a fast food joint than I do here. Regret leaving a tip for these overpaid goldbrickers. Don't know if it is because they don't like old people 80% of there morning clients or white people because they are racist. All Spanish speakers working there may explain why they got my white name wrong. The blarring music is all Spanish. No mixture or variety. Sick bunny does not interest me. Like I said mostly English speaking white customers but the workers could careless. Very Loud music so it is hard to have a conversation or get a name right.
