    Antojitos Sampler

This place was amazing! This is my first time ever having Columbian food, but I genuinely think that it won't be my last at all! I got the paisa, and when it came out, I was shocked with how much food it was. Definitely worth the money, and a friend of mine got the sampler as a main dish, and it was fantastic! My favorite was the blood sausage for sure! The service was kind, but I will say that there was a good amount of wait for the food. Honestly, I didn't mind it at all. The ambiance is more fancy than I expected but it was a pleasant surprise!

This Colombian restaurant is impressive. The food, service and ambience are amazing! We were greeted warmed when we arrived and sat at the bar. We took our server's recommendations for food and were very pleased.

First time trying Cali Viejo. Overall, it was ok not bad, but not amazing either. I ordered the beef soup (sancocho), the flavor wasn't bad, but i didn't really enjoy it, it was also way too thick for my taste. What really stood out was the great service and the pleasant atmosphere. The place is small, but it's clean and comfortable. The natural juices and tequeños were delicious, definitely a 5/5 in that area. I wouldn't rule out coming back to try something else.

So this is gonna be a kind of a different review because I've never been to this restaurant. However! My favorite pool guy Luis owner of Family Pool Service brought me a little treat for lunch last week. The liver and onions from this restaurant. Not a lot of people like liver, so I'm not sure how he knew I would like it, but I didn't just like it. I loved it. It literally was the best liver and onions I've ever, ever had! I had to ask him where it was from and get the address and phone number. I found it on yelp and this is a place. I will probably be going to quite often.

Pros: service is good, warm decor Food was mediocre, the ceviche de camarones in a tomato based sauce- not great, the whole tilapia was not seasoned (very bland), side dishes (fried yuca, tostones- good. Lomo saltado - sauce was very good Overall, tried it but rather go somewhere further when we want Peruvian with lime based ceviche & seasoned whole fried fish

Cali Viejo is situated on the west-bound side is US-60 in Brandon. A non-descript cream colored building with a lovely mural on the side. Upon entering you come upon the bar area. We were warmly greeted and seated. The hostess/waitress was friendly and suggested several items. We came here as I wanted a good Yellow Rice and chicken dinner. When visiting my parents abt 7-years ago we had this dish here. Our waitress said "yes, we have chicken and we have yellow rice..." this was not one coherent dish but a chicken breast (fried or grilled) with a side of yellow rice. I wasn't happy but ordered it. I received ONE flattened (pounded) grilled chicken boob or one grilled chicken boob that was sliced in-half (horizontally) and I got 1/2 of that; what I'm saying is it was a 'thin' chicken boob. In my experience when you order a chicken dinner you usually get two boobs or one large unsliced chicken boob. And there was the side of yellow rice. My mother ordered the breaded pork cutlet and black beans & rice. The chicken was flavorful but being so thin it was dry and the yellow rice was the hit of the dish. The pork cutlet was very delish. We ordered the Flan for dessert. The Flan arrived and plate presentation was nice but the Flan looked like a cookie with whip cream on top. Nothing like the 100's of restaurants I've ordered Flan in before. The flavor was there but the creamy custard texture wasn't. To me it's like the custard broke while setting up. But, the flavor was there. Over all the food, while flavorful, but very basic, a lil skimpy, and did not equate to the prices charged. I'm not going to say "I won't be back" but I will say it might be awhile based on this visit.

3 stars. When i ordered I picked it because i wanted the rice, red beans with the meat. Food still tastes good just really disappointed that its 60 bucks on this.

Was in town to visit our son and wanted to try local cuisine for lunch; my son suggested this place - Cali Viejo. My husband ordered the liver with onions, I simply ordered a couple of chicken empanadas, my son had the whole fried red snapper, and my daughter had the shredded beef; we also enjoyed the red and black beans. Everything was tasty; we will plan to visit again when in the area and try other menu items.

We were in the area between breakfast and lunch so we decided to pop into the bakery side for a breakfast sandwich. The Cali Bakery is just to the left of Cali Viejo. We walked into an empty place but we were sort of greeted when walking in. I took it upon myself to go find a menu and then was asked if I would like to order to-go or sit down. We chose to sit down as I was with my kids. The kids ordered orange juice and I ordered water. After some time, the kids were brought fresh OJ that was delicious. I was brought a bottle of water. I ordered the cheese egg and sausage Cuban for the kids to share and I ordered bacon egg and cheese croissant. That also took a good amount of time. There were a couple more people that came in after we ordered and they were still sitting there waiting after we were done eating. My croissant was a little burned on the bottom but otherwise as was expected, and they kids enjoyed their sandwich. Nothing special for the price aside from fresh orange juice $3 each. We probably won't come back here but it was an ok breakfast.

500 stars for this Columbian/Dominican restaurant! No, that's not a typo. The food is just THAT…read moregood! Open just two years, the hours are Mon & Tues 11:30 AM to 7 PM; Thurs/Fri/Sat 11:30 AM to 9 PM; & Sunday 11:30 AM to 5 PM. The restaurant is closed on Wed. A big fan of Oxtail, the tender Oxtail (Rabo Encendido Al Vino) @ $19.95 that arrived @ our table was soaking in a bath of special wine sauce. It was the BEST Oxtail I've EVER TASTED. I cannot wait to return for a second helping! The two sides I selected (rice & pinto beans) were unbelievably delicious-- so flavorful (see pic). The "Iconic Columbian Dish," which is Bandeja Paisa, @ $18.95 was also EXCELLENT. You MUST SEE THE PHOTO! It was a HUGE entree that consisted of bacon, grilled steak, rice, beans, fried egg, pork rind, chorizo, maduro, arepa, & avocado. (The steak was especially tender & delicious.) Be prepared to take home lots of leftovers! The Fried Calamari (Calamares) appetizer @ $10.95 was very good-- not at all chewy. The Yuca Fries included in it were GREAT, & the Sweet Plantains side was good. We are excited to Return & Return & Return so we can once again order the sides of rice & beans; try the Arepa Con Queso appetizer; the Stewed Goat; Milanesa Pork Loin; Grilled Skirt Steak; Yellow Rice w/ Chicken; & one or more of the five delicious-sounding Monfongos (a Puerto Rican plantain dish). Oh, & of course once again enjoy more Oxtail & the Iconic Columbian Dish! There are three desserts on the menu: Tres Leches; Flan de Leche; & Flan de Maracuya @ $4 to $4.50. Beverages include Columbian & American sodas; juices; Lemonade; Iced Tea; Bottled Water; 5 Coffees; 1 Tea; & Pony Malta (a nonalcoholic energy drink). There are DAILY LUNCH SPECIALS that range from $9.95 to $12.50. They include soup on Mon, Tues, Sat, & Sun; Stewed Chicken on Thurs; & Sautéed Beef/Chicken on Fri. (Tripe is the Sunday soup.) The dining room holds 10 tables; it was very clean. The interior decor is casual & comfortable, & the clientele is mainly from Columbia & Puerto Rico (according to Manager Fabian). We were the only Caucasians seated here @ the time. I am optimistic that once word speads about the quality of the food, more diners will choose to eat here. It's truly a SUPERIOR restaurant. Although the chef gets a loud round of applause for his immense talent, Manager Fabian was also impressive! I had never before seen a restaurant manager work so hard beside his staff. He was front & center assisting w/ every aspect of the business. He also took the time to approach every table to assure there were no customer concerns. Amazed w/ our food, we spoke w/ him at least three times. He answered our menu questions & checked on our service. Just an incredible person to manage a restaurant! There's no question we'll return! Five days later I finished my Oxtail w/ rice & beans. It all tasted just as DELICIOUS on Day 5 as it did the day I ordered it. That speaks VOLUMES!

The chicken was very good but I would not order the doughnuts and salad again. It was takeout so…read morecan't comment on service and ambiance.
