Egg tart, Coconut Lotus Bun, Oreo Bun, Butter cookies
Amber N.

There was only one employee in the store and I was the only customer but they didn't say hello or offer help so not the best with service. Many of the pastries they offer seem very bread forward-- bun-like breads with some type of cream, fruit, and/or other flavor inside or on top. Overall, the experience was just okay. Coconut lotus bun (4/5)-- The lotus was a new flavor for me so I enjoyed having the nutty flavor inside with the coconut outside. Oreo bun (2/5)-- The cream inside was not very sweet so it didn't provide the Oreo/cookies and cream flavor that I expect I liked it but it was not what I expected . Egg tart (3/5)-- This was on the side with the sweet pastries but it was not sweet. I liked it but I think it belongs on the savory side. It gave the vibe of scrambled egg or quiche with crust. I expected more of an egg custard vibe. It is probably best for breakfast. Butter cookies 4/5-- These were prepackaged crispy cookies with the simple, yet delicious flavor that you expect from butter cookies.

Egg tarts are lifeeee - They make a pretty good one here at bakery 1908 , sweet fluffy egg with a flaky buttery crust it's been a staple for me since I was a kid. Get one it will make you happy

Sweet Buns is a fantastic place to go to when you want to study or grab a cute bun. It's one of my favorite places to buy buns and the cream as well as the custard are freshly made. The buns taste incredibly fresh, and my favorites are the fruits. The savory buns kind of all do taste the same. I will say that when you do go inside the cafe. The smell of the oil from the buns can cling to clothes.

With the cake packaged like this with an additional layer of plastic film on the outside my cake will be completely ruined. Plus, I'm giving this as a gift it looks absolutely terrible like this, almost as if they were my leftovers.

Good price. Good food. Good options. Breads are on the sweeter side. Their Portuguese egg tart is delicious. Plenty of seats. Big place. Quick service

I love Sweet Buns Bakery so much. I first discovered this chain in Gainesville, FL and I fell in love immediately. The Tampa sweet buns is just as good too. We had these sweet red bean and almond buns as our dessert. The buns were picked up at the end of the day, and they were still so soft and yummy. The bakery is a very cute too, a spot for computer work, or catching up with a friend over some delish and fluffy buns.

I was in Tampa visiting for work, and I saw this place online and decided to pop in and bring a few treats back home. I'm so glad I did. Cute family owned shop and the concept is wonderful, as well as easy. such a beautiful selection of SO many sweet & savory pastries. they don't just look beautiful, they taste flavorful, fluffy, and you can tell they're all made with love. for both these trays and 5 items from their cooler, i only spent $55. Other bakeries could never! I had such a lovely experience here.

This place is a great stop, everytime we're in the USF area we have to stop by Sweet Buns. I never get tired of seeing all the delicious buns! So many different types and I just want to try them all. This visit we got the chocolate bun and buttercream bun and a pork floss and a Napoleon. So good they do have seating to the right inside so we ate two there and brought the others home. I did visit on a day it was incredibly warm inside maybe they had the heat on high but we didn't stay long. Hopefully it's not like that anymore:)

This place has the best japanese sweet treats. My advice is to get there earlier in the day so you get first pick. Everything is clean and most employees are friendly. There is one employee who ALWAYS has an attitude and thats why I only gave 4 stars.

Sweet Buns, you'll always be special to me. I remember hearing about this place a very long time ago on TikTok. Everyone was buzzing about how it's self-serve, affordable prices, and absolutely delicious. It lives up to all of those things. I recommend getting there early to get first pick! My top bites are always the Japanese cheesecake, BBQ Pork Buns, Ham Cheese Buns, and the Strawberry n Cream buns.

Loved the vibe and variety. Albeit not super friendly, but helpful. The egg tart was a little under to me, but I still enjoyed it.

Do they sell 8-10" birthday cakes? Can they be ordered online?

Sweet buns do offer four types of cakes: cream and fruit (two layers of sponge cake plus a layer of cream and fruits in between), cheesecake, mousse cake, and crepe cakes!… Read more

Is this related to Sweet Buns in Gainesville?

Do they sell milk bread?

No, they don't. The only place I have found that sells milk bread is in Brandon....Zimo Bakery near the Brandon MD Oriental store

Do they still sell their hot food in the kitchen?

I don't think so... I did not see it on the menu the last time I was there. Not on their website any longer, either.

Do they make decorated birthday cookie cakes?

Sweet Buns do not make cookie cakes. However, Sweet Buns do offer cream fruit cakes, cheesecakes, mousse cakes, and crepe cakes!

Do they have any gluten free options?

No. Traditional Asian bakery doesn't do much of the gluten free stuff.

What is the price range on the full size cakes?

Price range depends on the type of cake (cream fruit, cheesecake, mousse cake, or crepe cake), its size (8 in, 10 in, 12 in, etc.), and any additional charges for extra fillings or special flavors of sponge cakes.… Read more

Do they have any vegan (no dairy, egg, meat) options?

I didn't see any, but the labels are not detailed. Even the packages are not well labeled, which is interesting since there are state & federal legislation on the labeling of foods w/ regard to ingredients, calories, etc.

The inside is a decent size with tables, cute decor and lots of plants. When I first walked in, I was taken back by how beautiful the pastry display cases were!! I had the hardest time choosing which pastry to get because they all looked like works of art!! Super friendly staff, great service but now to get to the goods: the coffee and pasties. This is a true authentic French bakery, no doubt in my mind. The iced salted caramel latte is the best I have EVER had. I could taste every flavor and it blended with the coffee perfectly. The ham and cheese croissant was so flakey, the perfect ham ratio and just all around fantastic. The pastry I got had raspberry jam and white chocolate ganache (I don't remember the name of it) and it was seriously the best pastry I've ever had. Most pastries can be too sweet, but this was just right. The jam tasted fresh and homemade (probably is!) and the white chocolate ganache gave it just a touch of sweetness. It is a little pricey so be warned: $48 for two coffees and two pastries. Definitely worth a splurge!!

The space is quaint, modern but inviting. The pastries are truly the star of the show. I stopped in around 4 PM and parking was easy to find. The service was also excellent. The person behind the counter was very welcoming and even helped recommend pastries based on our palate preferences, which made the experience feel more personal and thoughtful. What I ordered: two pastries, the strawberry Japanese cheesecake and the goat cheese carrot cake. The strawberry Japanese cheesecake ($15) was a perfect balance of fruity freshness and caramelized richness with a creamy finish. It was not overly sweet and the fruit and cream notes really stood out in every bite. The goat cheese carrot cake ($16) was my favorite. I would go back just for this. It was moist, rich, and had a tangy goat cheese filling that created a very creamy, complex flavor profile. So delicious. The prices are on the steeper side but I love a baker who knows their worth. Totally worth it for the quality.

They have four locations, and we went to the one in the Ybor City Historic District. La Segunda is an institution for Cuban bread and pastries, baking 18K loaves daily and ships nationwide via Goldbelly. Our niece's BF is Cuban, and he said buy anything with guava. In the box (see photo), we bought two each of guava flip (kind of a folded tart or empanada), guava turnover, and guava flip with cream cheese. All of them are delicious! I like the flaky guava turnovers the most even though they didn't survive the transportation across the country in my backpack as well as some of the others. Even though slightly crumbly, still yummy! I also bought butter cookies, sold by the pound. Those are relatively ordinary; I'll skip those in the future. Next time, we are carrying Cuban sandwiches home! I really wish I carried them home. I was having Cuban sandwich withdrawal. This location is older but functional; there isn't seating. Their customers know what they want, and everything moves FAST. If it's your visit (like it was for us), I suggest looking at the menu online to know what to order. The service is friendly, even though I can tell he was a bit exasperated that I didn't just yell out my order and I asked questions. I honestly don't fault him. Busy places have their own pace, and the customers are the ones to keep up. That's perfectly ok.

Cake. Latte. Bread. Pastries. What more can a woman ask for???!!! I was already swooning over the photos and menu options seen on Yelp and Google, but TASTING is BELIEVING and now I'm so glad that I can say it's everything I hoped it would be. It's like a little piece of Paris right here in Tampa! (I've been). So I've come for cake, stayed for latte and quiche, and because why not, threw in the salad so that lunch and dinner is taken care of, too! Okay, first off...what I got. The quiche is light and airy, and is basically a croissant with quiche filling instead of a quiche slice. I love croissants, so this was a nice treat for me that I could hold in my hand. The Salted Caramel Latte I thought was pretty unique, because yes, there's a PRETZEL on top of it (which I plucked off and ate the first thing when I got it. Tasted rich and delicious, and was a great companion for my food. Now, usually I don't bat so much as an eye for a salad, but that Korean beef salad looked fresh and yummy, and it would definitely take care of dinner for the day because, why not, while I'm out? It was a decent size too, not too filling, with a good variety of veggies such as cukes, carrots, tomatoes, on top of mixed greens with Korean beef, which was the only heavy thing on the salad so you don't feel weighed down. It's great to know if you're watching your waist line or caloric intake, Paris Baguette has you covered with no problem as the nutrition facts are listed on the menu so you can make an informed choice. Of course, their cakes are so good, you wouldn't help but want to indulge. Which brings me to my final point. When I saw MOCHA CAKE on the menu, I thought, OMG I have to have it!!! It's EVERYTHING I could want and more and I must ask WHY ISN'T MOCHA CAKE MORE OF A THING NOW???? The sponge cake was light and airy like a coffee cloud as was the buttercream, not too sweet, rounding out my whole meal in nice elegant, finish. The shop itself is cute, but Muffin and I ate outside since the outside area is dog friendly. It reminds me of those open-air cafes in Europe, especially in Paris, elevating my lunch experience with my dog. The staff is super nice and welcoming on approach, too. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's really not THAT bad depending on when I go and the business hours help, too. The new location is larger with lots of seating indoors and outdoors under the covered patio. We had already had lunch so we got Cafe Con Leche from their coffee/espresso bar and chose several things from their cake/pastry counter. We ordered a small strawberry and cream cupcake, small raspberry and cream cupcake, cinnamon roll, slice of tiramisu and 4 sugar cookies with guava ($28 for all minus the cafe con Leche as we paid for separately). The tiramasu is really tasty and perfect to share among two of us. The cupcakes were delicious and the icing is pretty amazing...and different than we have had anywhere else. The sugar cookies with guava are a medium size and perfect to go with cafe con Leche. We haven't eaten the cinnamon roll yet but I know it is going to be really tasty. Their decorated cakes, cookies and cupcakes are all so pretty. It really was difficult to not want to buy one of everything. They also have a hot food counter which looks like they have a broad selection for full meals. They also have some prepackaged baked items to grab and go. The service is friendly and helpful and we even met one of the owners who stopped by our table. The bakery was busy and the energy was enjoyable. The building itself is absolutely massive. There are stations for different things, one for pizza, a deli, bakery items, a liquor bar, and a coffee bar. The coffee bar is now Kahwa and extremely over priced. The bakery items didn't seem to be organized in any specific way and it's difficult to try and see what is in it before getting called up, so it's quite chaotic. There were people running back and forth along the case trying to figure out what they wanted, that whole setup needs to be looked at. The pastries themselves didn't seem any different though maybe a little on the dry side As for the service, there were some older ladies trying to figure out how to pay for some of the free standing items as there is no central register, and the woman at the bakery counter was quite rude to them. While I appreciate the increase in space and added options, it has lost the personal touch that the old location had. I hope they consider reopening a smaller location that provides the more traditional local bakery feel that is now lost in this larger complex.
