Ok, so the lovely Skylar W was taking me around to her favorite local spots in the Tampa area and we hit up Bake'n Babes because she knows your girl loves a chocolate chip cookie. She also raved about the brown sugar poptart cookie that's a special at the moment, so I HAD to try it. This shop is located in the cutest little downtown mainstreet of Davis Islands. We grabbed easy parking right in front of the shop and posted up at an outdoor table once we got our cookies. This shop is counter service, so you go in and order. So, the cookies: The chocolate chip cookie is not the most impressive looks-wise, but holy moly when you split it open you will see soft, melty chocolate chips and immediately know you made a good call. I love an unpretentious cookie that delivers on flavor, texture, and gooey chocolate chips. This did all those things. And the brown sugar poptart cookie? Wow- this is a nostalgia bomb! I got the sleazy brownie and it was definitely good, but not super amazing. I'm not sure what the inside is (looks like Oreo cookie) but you're barely able to taste it. The girl who served me was weird. I asked for just the brownie which requires her to just grab it from the shelf and put it in a box so I didn't tip. n my quest to find the perfect chocolate chip cookie, I came across a new shop at Armature Works. First, I hate that parking there costs $10, but that is on the City of Tampa for not doing better. I ordered 6 of the chocolate chip, and these cookies are massive. I found it interesting that their sampler pack is $25 for 6 when 4 of the 6 cookies in the sampler pack are at the lower price point (6 for $20), and 2 are at the higher price point. This seems to be a miss in marketing, but perhaps they have their reasons. Now onto the star- the cookie. Their chocolate chip have salt on them which is such a great tool to ensure the cookie isn't overly sweet. The proportion of dough to chocolate chip is perfect. Some cookies are so full of chips/chunks/nuts that you cannot taste the cookie. Well, they got that part right. This is a meticulously balanced cookie with exceptional flavor. Went to the location on Davis Islands and it's super cute in there. Love the decor and even the small details. The cookies are excellent so definitely try one of those. We had Babe Shakes with cookies mixed in, one with chocolate chip cookie and the other with nutella stuffed chocolate chip cookie. The shakes were pretty good but the ice cream is just okay. After speaking to the staff member, he recommended the Tampa Trio so that we get a box of 6 cookies that include 2 each of the Fruity Pebbles, Salted Chocolate Chip and the Nutella stuffed chocolate chip. Yum! Immediately upon me seeing the menu and the Nutella stuffing yes!, had to have it. Anything with Nutella is a MUST!! Got home and devoured me a Nutella cookie. Hooray for Bake'n Bakes Second Location on Davis Island in Tampa. Their other location is at Armature Works Food Hall. I do like this location much better. I love the decor and it being pretty pink. I love the inside couch setting and the outside tables with shade and plant decor. Here they sell their cookies, milk shakes, taiyaki fish shaped waffle cones, and ice cream sandwiches. This time around I kept it simple with a chocolate chip cookie and it definitely was divine. I have tried their fruity pebbles and I think their Nutella cookie, and their brownie at the other location, but this one definitely was the best. Super memorable and I'll order it again. I didn't get the freak shake because it was too big for me but I did get the holiday shake that has a Little Debbie Christmas Tree sticking out the top. With the little cake and the ice cream it was basically a meal for me. The shop is so adorable and has pink everywhere. I love their Insta-wall that has a gorgeous bright pink velvet couch in front of it. I also read a lot of reviews about their Nutella Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie, umm yes please!! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon for a few treats. I wanted to pay in cash and it seemed as if I was truly bothering the employee. I ordered and my cash included a 30% tip. She came back after getting my treats from the back and placed Them on the counter, no bag and no thank you. I had heard a lot of hype about these cookies and my wife and I were looking forward to them. While hefty in size and price, these cookies lacked in flavor and richness. My wife and I were at Armature Works for a date night Friday. For dessert, we've been wanting to try Bake N Babes. We looked over the menu and ordered the Tampa Trio. Two salted chocolate chip, two Nutella filled and two fruity pebbles. $26 for 6 cookies. This place vaguely reminded me of an insomnia cookies or a crumble cookies. The cookies were gigantic and looked good. We got them home and baked them to the specifications on the box. 200 degrees for about 2 minutes. The salted chocolate chip was a let down. There were maybe 4-5 chocolate chips in each huge cookie. The ratio was off. It was mostly dough, underbaked in the middle for that gooey texture but with the baking instructions, did not get too gooey. The Nutella filled one was better. Soft, delicate chocolate hazelnut spread was kinda in the middle. For the size of the cookie, we were expecting it to be filled. It wasn't. There was a small dollop in each one. There was also a lack of chocolate chips in these ones too. The fruity pebbles cookies looked appetizing and would make for a nice Instagram post. Colorful and gigantic. But the sugar cookie just wasn't that tasty and the fruity pebbles fell off. We brought these home and shared them with family. They shared our sentiments that they were just ok. Checked out the @bakenbabes to grab February's The Works Milkshake. It came with vanilla soft serve ice creamrock candy, swirl lollipop their house made mini vanilla cupcake and a pink sugar cookie! The ice cream was so good and creamy. The cupcake was fluffy and not too sweet perfect pair with the ice cream cream. The sugar cookie reminded me of the Christmas cookies that comes in the tin can, very tasty. I also tried the chocolate chip cookie as well. It was soooo good! So gooey in the middle and a nice balance of crunch on the outside. Side Note: Everything was VEGAN except the soft served ice cream.
