    Pistachio croissant
    Cydney L.

Not enough words to describe the exquisite pastries and goods available here. The filled pistachio croissant is layered with an amazing pistachio custard, half dipped with pistachios. Not too sweet and good to the last bite, this is the best croissant I have ever had. The woman at the bakery explained a lot of the croissant bases come from sourdough and did a thorough run down of all the goods available. Any time I am in the Tampa area I will 100% be back to try new flavors. Amazing experience

I had been to State Flour once before and unfortunately they were out of the Pistachio Croissant that was my main reason for wanting to try the place. When I spoke with the person behind the counter she told me she could make up a few more for me but that it would be about ten minutes or so which I was okay with and glad that she was willing to do so. I told her I would visit the other shops in the plaza and be back. I waited the time and returned only to find out that she was told by someone, the owner or manager that she couldn't make anymore. So I wasted my time and spent unnecessary money on a drink elsewhere to only have that result. I know it wasn't her fault but I thought that was bad customer service. Probably more than a year later, I was down in that area again so I called ahead to see if they had any available. They did so I stopped in and got one. Now, I know Pistachios are expensive but, I do not believe what I got was worth $10.00. Even with my love of Pistachios, I thought that the top of the croissant was too covered with them to make it an enjoyable bite as it was over powered on the half that was covered. The croissant itself was a little over baked as well. I do not remember what flavor I got the first visit but the croissant was properly baked that time. I know there can be off days and maybe I visited on those days given the customer service during the first visit and the over baked goods on the 2nd but I won't rule them out, just won't go out of my way to return either.

Thank goodness for Yelp. You can't possibly catch all the good stuff when driving on Dale Mabry. There are just so many businesses... and so many gems... lining that super busy road. But thanks to Karen V and others, State Flour Bakery was on my radar. It's tucked into the north end of a strip mall on the east side of Dale M. It's very subtle from the outside... with a very small customer order/pick-up space on the inside... but it's HUGE in flavor, creativity and variety. The sourdough is baked right there, daily. I took home a huge round jalapeño cheddar loaf that really brings the heat. The owner told me I could freeze it, if I didn't want to eat it all now. That's a great option. I also took home a huge and amazing pistachio croissant (they had so many tempting flavors... but whenever pistachio is one of them, that's always what I try first.) It was gorgeous... with some of the flaky, buttery croissant dyed in green stripes on one side... a gorgeous cluster of pistachios on the other side... and pistachio cream inside. So decadent, so dreamy... sooo big... and so completely unique. I will definitely go back to try the other croissants.. but it will be hard not to take home my buddy pistachio, too. They had other items, including cookies and quiches and a breakfast sandwich. The display is very tempting. And there's some local honey and merch for sale, just inside and to the left of the door. Someone with State Flour must be a Star Wars fan, because the shelves are full of SW items and the S in State Flour, is clearly in that Star Wars font. I'm so glad we don't have to go to a galaxy far, far away to get these goodies!! (Just down Dale Mabry, just south of Gandy).

Love SFB! I love close by so I've been coming ever since they first opened. Staff is always super nice and friendly. The bread options are 10/10 and the pastries are always fresh and made with care featuring quality ingredients, which make a difference. My ONLY suggestion is to have more chocolate or have the chocolate more spread out in the chocolate croissant. I like a good ratio of chocolate to bread and this one compacts the chocolate in the center bite only. Aside from that, I highly recommend this spot to any bread/pastry lovers!

Guava, Almond, Butterscotch Crème Brûlée, and Pistachio Croissants

I'm very late to the game on this one. It's a sourdough bakery that I've been wanting to try for a very long time. It never appeared to be open the last few times I drove by it. Make sure you check the hours of operation on their website before making that special trip. With all of that said... Everything I tried was absolutely delicious! You would think that sourdough would be heavy in a croissant recipe. Not these croissants. They are light considering the size and amount of filling that's inside of them. I split all 4 of these croissants with my husband in a 2 day period. I bought 4 different flavors: Guava, Pistachio, Butterscotch Crème Brûlée, and Almond. All were very good, but my absolute favorite was the almond one that was filled with a delicious frangipane mixture. I could really taste the butter in each bite. I'm also in love with the Olive Roasted Garlic loaf. We're still sharing that one. It's even better toasted with an olive oil drizzle. I thought about getting the Cheddar Jalapeño, but I'll save that for next time. Everything is baked fresh daily. They sell more than just croissants & bread. There were scones, muffins, Kouign-Amann, cookies, and even a savory BEC danish. So many different flavors that it's so difficult to choose just one. I'm definitely going to try the Cuban croissant next time. Oh, and go early in the morning (or order ahead) if you're looking for something specific. They sell out regularly. It looks like I'll be adding a stop at State Flour to my list when running errands near the base. That list keeps growing.

Their bacon scone and Cuban croissants are fire, you even got a pickle on it Totally worth it

    Jasmine R.

Amazing baked goods and don't get me started on the sourdough bread!! Get there early as they sell out of things quickly!

    Guava and pistachio croissants

State Flour Bakery has a small shop on Dale Mabry Highway. It's just for to go orders, although they do have one table outside that can seat 2 people. Their pastries are all very beautiful, and I appreciate that they have some unique options. I tried the guava and pistachio croissants. Guava was definitely my favorite because it had a crispy exterior and was filled with real guava paste inside. No fake coloring or flavoring. The pistachio croissant was good, but had more of a pistachio extract taste and was bright green inside. I'd come back to try one of their savory croissants in the future.

Phone did not eat first! I had to take a few bites to taste first. I can only give a review based on what I experienced ~ aka the gluten free item ~ but it was really good! This bakery offers regular treats + sourdough loafs with a limited gluten free offering. There were two gluten free items to choose from- an apricot and pistachio blondie with a passionfruit icing or a fudge brownie- and they were BIG! I believe they were $8 a piece, so slightly pricey but they were quality. I did receive a military discount which was appreciated. The blondie was really good- a great summer treat. It would be yummy paired with a hot coffee. I will definitely be back!

When finding available parking was impossible at the Hyde Park Sunday market this morning, I popped over to State Flour Bakery in south Tampa for some of our brunch essentials instead! After all, the previous times I've tried the offerings from this deliciously good business, it was during their pop-ups at that market, so it seemed like the right time to finally check out their brick and mortar. The bakery is in south Tampa, and it had a small parking lot with easy parking available mid-morning on a Sunday. The inside was very simple, with just a table containing the days available baked goods. I picked up my previous favorites that I had tried during past markets: the guava croissant and pistachio croissant. Each are beautifully baked with stripes of colorful pastry and are filled with delicious creams. They are huge and decadent and were a massive hit at my family brunch. Just so you aren't caught off guard - they aren't cheap. The pistachio croissant will run you $10 and the guava is $8. But the quality of the ingredients, the beauty of the bake, and the unmatched flavors are well worth the price tag. Plus, you get to support a pretty awesome local business.

    Pistachio Croissant
    Alexis S.

Chocolate Croissant: 2 bars of chocolate that melted in my mouth combined with a beautiful exterior. This one was so pretty Pistachio Croissant: A plain croissant filled with a pistachio cream and coated in crushed pistachios. The flavor wasn't too strong, and it was sweet at the same time. The only reason I gave it a 3 star and not more is because I'm not a huge pistachio fan BUT I still highly recommend it. Butterscotch Creme Brûlée Croissant: Although I feel the brûlée didn't add too much to the experience it did make the pastry look cute, BUT THAT CREAM. Sooo buttery, just the right amount of cream and not too sweet! I could eat that any time of day and maybe have 2 at a time Almond Croissant: I love the amount of almonds put into this one. Not too much and not too little. The flavor was spot on without the almond being too overwhelming. This has been my favorite almond croissant in Florida so far. The only reason it isn't a 5 star is because I like my almond croissants a little more on the crunchy side. Overall review: I came in around 10 am, and they still had everything on their menu in stock which I thought was pretty lucky! This was a cute local spot, and I can definitely see myself coming here every weekend for a quick bite to start my day. I was greeted by a very friendly associate who explained everything on the menu to me (even though I did a bunch of research the night before lmao). I was told that they specialize in fresh sour dough bread and they actually use their sour dough starter in their croissants as well! Each croissant I had was beautiful, flaky and not too sweet. The cream to croissant ratio was perfect. They were consistent in size and looks. I could definitely eat the entire box in one sitting and I almost did, but I had to head to the gym.

    Kouign-Amann and Pain Au Chocolat
    Katherine L.

Super yummy croissants and pastries! We went on a Sunday around 11am, and most pastries and bread were still available. The employees were super friendly and helpful. We chose to get kouign-amanns and chocolate croissants. Everything so yummy. We ate them in the car, but I'm sure they would be amazing warmed up in the air fryer. Overall, super yummy local place and will definitely be back!

    Walaa A.

State flour bakery is incredible! Their croissants are perfectly flaky and buttery, and the jalapeño cheddar sourdough is hands down the best l've ever had. It had the perfect mix of heat and flavor. Must visit for any bread lover.

Where can I get freshly made Italian cookies?? I'm looking for the cookies I had when I was just a little girl living in Philadelphia. The butter cookies that have a little dab of gooey jelly in the middle.

When I googled butter cookies with jelly in the middle. I saw several variations of cookies. So I'm not sure which ones you want, but there's plenty of stores around here in the Tampa Bay area, they carry them

The inside is a decent size with tables, cute decor and lots of plants. When I first walked in, I was taken back by how beautiful the pastry display cases were!! I had the hardest time choosing which pastry to get because they all looked like works of art!! Super friendly staff, great service but now to get to the goods: the coffee and pasties. This is a true authentic French bakery, no doubt in my mind. The iced salted caramel latte is the best I have EVER had. I could taste every flavor and it blended with the coffee perfectly. The ham and cheese croissant was so flakey, the perfect ham ratio and just all around fantastic. The pastry I got had raspberry jam and white chocolate ganache (I don't remember the name of it) and it was seriously the best pastry I've ever had. Most pastries can be too sweet, but this was just right. The jam tasted fresh and homemade (probably is!) and the white chocolate ganache gave it just a touch of sweetness. It is a little pricey so be warned: $48 for two coffees and two pastries. Definitely worth a splurge!!

The person behind the counter was very welcoming and even helped recommend pastries based on our palate preferences, which made the experience feel more personal and thoughtful. What I ordered: two pastries, the strawberry Japanese cheesecake and the goat cheese carrot cake. The strawberry Japanese cheesecake ($15) was a perfect balance of fruity freshness and caramelized richness with a creamy finish. It was not overly sweet and the fruit and cream notes really stood out in every bite. The goat cheese carrot cake ($16) was my favorite. I would go back just for this. It was moist, rich, and had a tangy goat cheese filling that created a very creamy, complex flavor profile. So delicious. The prices are on the steeper side but I love a baker who knows their worth. Totally worth it for the quality.

In the box (see photo), we bought two each of guava flip (kind of a folded tart or empanada), guava turnover, and guava flip with cream cheese. All of them are delicious! I like the flaky guava turnovers the most even though they didn't survive the transportation across the country in my backpack as well as some of the others. Even though slightly crumbly, still yummy! I also bought butter cookies, sold by the pound. Those are relatively ordinary; I'll skip those in the future. Next time, we are carrying Cuban sandwiches home! I really wish I carried them home. I was having Cuban sandwich withdrawal. This location is older but functional; there isn't seating. Their customers know what they want, and everything moves FAST. If it's your visit (like it was for us), I suggest looking at the menu online to know what to order. The service is friendly, even though I can tell he was a bit exasperated that I didn't just yell out my order and I asked questions. I honestly don't fault him. Busy places have their own pace, and the customers are the ones to keep up. That's perfectly ok.

Paris Baguette has EVERYTHING I love. Cake. Latte. Bread. Pastries. What more can a woman ask for???!!! I was already swooning over the photos and menu options seen on Yelp and Google, but TASTING is BELIEVING and now I'm so glad that I can say it's everything I hoped it would be. It's like a little piece of Paris right here in Tampa! (I've been). So I've come for cake, stayed for latte and quiche, and because why not, threw in the salad so that lunch and dinner is taken care of, too! Okay, first off...what I got. The quiche is light and airy, and is basically a croissant with quiche filling instead of a quiche slice. I love croissants, so this was a nice treat for me that I could hold in my hand. The Salted Caramel Latte I thought was pretty unique, because yes, there's a PRETZEL on top of it (which I plucked off and ate the first thing when I got it. Tasted rich and delicious, and was a great companion for my food. Now, usually I don't bat so much as an eye for a salad, but that Korean beef salad looked fresh and yummy, and it would definitely take care of dinner for the day because, why not, while I'm out? It was a decent size too, not too filling, with a good variety of veggies such as cukes, carrots, tomatoes, on top of mixed greens with Korean beef, which was the only heavy thing on the salad so you don't feel weighed down. It's great to know if you're watching your waist line or caloric intake, Paris Baguette has you covered with no problem as the nutrition facts are listed on the menu so you can make an informed choice. Of course, their cakes are so good, you wouldn't help but want to indulge. Which brings me to my final point. When I saw MOCHA CAKE on the menu, I thought, OMG I have to have it!!! It's EVERYTHING I could want and more and I must ask WHY ISN'T MOCHA CAKE MORE OF A THING NOW???? The sponge cake was light and airy like a coffee cloud as was the buttercream, not too sweet, rounding out my whole meal in nice elegant, finish. The shop itself is cute, but Muffin and I ate outside since the outside area is dog friendly. It reminds me of those open-air cafes in Europe, especially in Paris, elevating my lunch experience with my dog. The staff is super nice and welcoming on approach, too. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's really not THAT bad depending on when I go and the business hours help, too. The tiramasu is really tasty and perfect to share among two of us. The cupcakes were delicious and the icing is pretty amazing...and different than we have had anywhere else. 5 Stars for a spectacular brunch at Psomi with standout baked goods including the spanakopita,…read morecroissant cinnamon roll, and baklava coffee cake! Pro-tip: additional parking is located just down the street (look for the blue building with signage). I got to enjoy brunch on the outdoor patio (covered, breezy, and dog-friendly) recently and was blown away. We started with coffee and the aforementioned pastries (get them early because they all sell out!). The spanakopita was the perfect, flakey, savory intro and then paired perfectly with the sweet baklava coffee cake and croissant cinnamon roll. All three were exceptional and next time I'll go next door to their market and buy some to take home. From there we dug into breakfast dishes. I shared the Strapatsada (vegetarian, but you can add meat options), which is a Greek scramble with caramelized onion, roasted cherry tomato, creamy feta, grilled baguette; along with the Med Morning Yogurt Bowl (v, gf) featuring fresh berries, house granola, mint, greek thyme honey. The granola was clearly house-made and I would also opt to purchase it at the market if they sell it! Both dishes were satisfying and hit the savory/sweet combo I was searching for. Finally, the service was fabulous and friendly and they even brought a water bowl for my pup. Great spot and my #1 go-to when in Tampa now!

Alright so this one is an interesting one…read more Went with the homie - felt like there was no other homie duos running it in there. I was surrounded by Zara final bosses and IG baddies. Which is cool, just not my cup of tea. Coffee ripped. Knew it would. They had some sort of maple oak milk concoction. I'm not entirely sure if that's the real government name of it but it was great - homemade they say. See the lil wrap/gyro deal in the picture, yeahhhh good stuff. Took it all down. Fries were a good cut. Sauces were house made, what was it you ask - no idea. But don't care, they were great. Food was great. Just felt like I didn't fit in. Or maybe I just was not prepped/dressed to feel like I was in Mykonos on a cruise and that was the excursion for the day. Idk, good stuff overall.
