I recently visited and unfortunately it wasn't a great experience for me. I ordered the parrilla for two, which was actually enough food for about three people, so the portion size was good. However, the food itself was disappointing. Nothing tasted fresh and it felt like it had been reheated. The drinks were definitely the highlight, the coconut lemonade and the mint lemonade were both really good. The food was absolutely delicious. The skirt steak was perfectly prepared and perfectly flavored. I'd never had a tomato based ceviche before but it was delicious. The shrimp was perfect, not rubbery or underdone. The location is in a strip mall tucked away off of 301 in Riverview so it's a bit easy to miss but you have to give this place a try. The staff is super friendly and when I told them I was practicing my Spanish they communicated to me only in Spanish and were patient. They cared about my dietary restrictions and took it seriously. This place is the definition of hit or miss. It is run by mostly teenagers; therefore, the service is pretty awful. I just watched a woman walk up to the counter and say she has been waiting at her table for her and her friends' credit cards back for 20 minutes. The one adult in here does not speak English, and they are all struggling to keep up with the Door Dash drivers, carry outs and restaurant patrons. When i tell you this is a hidden gem! I passed this place every day on the way to work and one day decided to come in and see. I thought it was a grab and go restaurant but to my surprise its a sit down family restaurant! The waitress and host staff were incredibly sweet and informative. My waitress gave so many recommendations, i didnt know where to start. We ordered the seafood paella and arroz con pollo with regular lemonade and coconut lemonade. Now, i am not a coconut fan whatsoever but i kept getting sips of my fiances lemonade because it was heaven in a cup. The flavors were so good, i got another one to go! My lemonade was refreshing and light but the coconut is the way to go. Our food took about 20ish minutes to arrive but it was completely worth it. All i saw from my servers hands was steam as she walked to us. The arroz con pollo was the best ive ever had. Incredibly flavorful and the steamed spinach was a smart touch. Had dinner here with my family, with 2 kids. Friendly, hospitable atmosphere. Our server was attentive and answered all of our questions about the menu. The kid's meal was just right, they finished most of it and were full. I had the dish with the picaña. It came out perfectly cooked (med-rare to my liking) and seasoned nicely, with chimichurri and with the 2 sides and salad. 2 1" slices of picaña with the cap! I had high hopes for this spot. I loved the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. I have been craving Paella since returning from my travels from Spain. The Paella was solid I would give it a 4. Wasn't as authentic as I would like but it was very good. The plantains were yummy and give it a 5 star. I bought some drinks there two for one deal with there happy hour. I got the mango margarita and lime Margarita. It honestly tasted like syrup. Disliked the margarita and I give it a one star. Service was a little slow but very friendly staff. The Huevono sandwich is the best invention I've ever seen done with Colombian food. Growing up pan de Bonos were just eaten by them selves, but here they cater to the American way with this invention. My family loves this sandwich. Specially my half Colombian kids. The cheese chosen for this is so different t and perfectly paired. My husband likes their Cuban bread sandwich rendition a little better than the one we get at our favorite Puerto Rican place, because of that cheese. Don't come here looking for non-Colombian food. The reason I'm not leaving this business any stars is due to their shady tactics when charging. The menu says one price but when I reviewed my receipt & compared it to the menu it was different. They blamed it on "fees the bank charges for paying with a card" We didn't even pay with a credit card. They should state that on the menu not deceive us and then bill what they want. We don't care about paying as we spent nearly $70 on breakfast for a family or 3 but they need to have an honest menu. this used to be one of our favorite place to go, unfortunately they are not honoring their menu prices, they up $0.50 to $1.00 on most items and charging extra for creamer on top of already overpriced items, when questioned the staff with a very nasty attitude, they informed me that the prices change in THE REGISTER, but menus have not being updated, this is not told at the time on ordering, she was upset that I questioned her and that, that is what I had to pay. This is one of the more progressive Colombian restaurants in Tampa, in my opinion. Many Colombian spots don't feel like they need to try. They're all carbon copies of each other. Cali Aji has got a very complete menu with all the classic, traditional dishes. But, they're also got offerings like their bowls, which might not be a traditional Colombia dish, but the ingredients make it taste genuine. I like the idea of mixing things up a bit. Their bakery is on-point. I like their little shop area, too. Nice stuff available. Everyone was very friendly. I got to strike up a combo with the owner who happened to be hanging out by the bakery counter one day. Nice people overall. Can't believe I've missed this gem of a place 5 min from home! Located right off 301 in a small shopping plaza Cali Aji is a sit down/take out style restaurant. There's a take out counter immediately upon walk in but an option to be seated. We elected to sit down because of the smooth Jazz playing and the atmosphere seemed relaxing. We were greeted immediately by a friendly and upbeat waitress. We started off with the sangria which is a 2 for 1 happy hour deal (all day, which is kind of silly but I'm about if) which ended up being $16 total for 2. The sangria was extremely good, better than expected, and reminded me of my time in Portugal. For food we ordered the mofongo with churrasco and the ropa vieja. The mofongo with churrasco and garlic sauce was out of this world delicious. The mofongo was cooked perfectly with little chicharron bits in it and it came with a lot of churrasco, I'd give it a 8.510! The ropa vieja was also fantastic, just a bit on the salty side for me. The accompaniments of spinach in garlic butter, rice, black beans, and sweet plantains were all perfect, if give it a 8/10! Would def love to come back to try some other dishes. read more

Same owner as Cali Viejo in Brandon 2. They have Columbian Rotisserie but also have several other non-Colombian options available such as the San Antonio Burger truck. So you get 3 different menus to look thru. Staff friendly and attentive Food was good. I like a little more seasoning but there was nothing truly lacking. Rotisserie Chicken was juicy and not dry. Whole $12.99 Fried Yucca with white cheese slices $6 Chicharrón con arepa $5 the chicharrón was plain nothing like the Riverview Fresh Market or Latinos in terms of flavor. Rice and beans bowl (side) $6 nicely done Cafe con leche small $3 strong and not bitter Espresso $2.50 strong and not bitter Water bottle $2 Nestle Pure The complaint. I get the receipt and notice none of the prices matched what the menu said by small bits of change. 13.52 for the chicken that said 12.99. When I asked the waiter is when I'm told oh because you are paying with a card it's a 4% surcharge BEFORE tax to use anything but cash. My genuine question stands....Since when do you pay a surcharge at a sit down restaurant to use non cash payment and have ZERO signage or notice on the menu regarding the fee. Why is it before tax? Why am I paying tax on the surcharge? We opted to pay cash and leave the waiter a better tip. But that is a huge issue for me. There is no reason to charge me this fee. Additionally why are you charging sales taxes on this surcharge fee when overall this is a cost of doing business. I am not actually certain how to feel about this especially since it's not notified by anyone including the waiters until you question your bill. Staff said they have told the owner how customers are upset about this and they have done nothing. This is more upsetting because I'm sure other patrons have taken it out on the staff and reduced their tips. Overall I was having a nice time until the bill came and ruined my mood. This was our first time here, and we fell in love. They have three restaurants in one, we ate in and our server Maria was awesome. We had the fried pork loin, yellow rice, veggies, skirt steak, with shrimp and mushroom sauce, yucca fries and tostones, and white rice. You must squeeze your lime over the pork loin and it will be out of this world delicious. The virgin piña colada was soooo good, we had two glasses. The food is decent, but the prices are noticeably higher compared to other restaurants. For instance, I was charged nearly $10 for an arepa de choco with cheese, whereas I've paid only $5 for the same dish elsewhere. The thought that I paid $5 dollars extra for a slice cheese to be added it's mind blowing. I didn't realize it until I saw the bill. What a neighborhood gem! There seems to be a good mix of Latin dishes at this venue. Friendly, attentive, and quick service was a pleasant surprise. The dining area is tastefully decorated with a fun collection of whimsical framed artwork. I had the Vajella Paesa Bowl with Palomilla steak, chicharrones, and sausage. The only thing I was not fond of was the fried yucca patty, which was too dry for my liking. Other than that, the hot sauce reminded me of Goya hot sauce and they also had a creamy garlic sauce that was delicious!
