Pleasantly surprised with Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen. Went for dinner one evening earlier this month with the family. Nancy K was our server and she is not only fabulous in personality, she knew her menu. All of her recs were great and she showed genuine care for us. What's also great about this place is still being able to find reasonably priced food when dining out! A family of 3 adults and child, we had apps and each an entree and our meal still came up to $78 prior to tip. The food was also delicious. I had the gumbo on my most recent visit as well as the onion rings. The gumbo was just what I needed. Tibby's is a solid dinner option. I've never had a bad meal here. Service is quick, especially if you sit at a high top in the bar area. The bar area is kinda dark and you can see straight into the kitchen, but the trade off is that the bartender is usually your server and your drinks are the priority. The portion sizes are quite large, and I always have leftovers when I order an entree. I usually opt to share an app with my BF (current fave: BBQ shrimp, which have literally nothing to do with BBQ but are nothing short of divine) and then i usually just order a side of fried oysters (highly recommend, SO good!!!) When we're tossing around dinner ideas, nobody in our house says no when this place is mentioned. The hurricanes aren't the best I've ever had, but they are CRAZY STRONG and one was more than enough. read more

Nothing that we ordered made us want to try more items on the menu. Even the grits were disappointing. The spinach dip was ok, but the bread that came with it was HARD, the beignets were ok but everything else was quite disappointing. The eggplant dish is so good and so cheesy. I wished it came with a couple more pieces of French bread because there is so much sauce to soak up. I'd order this again in a heartbeat though. The 12 napkin beef po boy, full portion, is enough to have leftovers but me mindful of the sauce soaking into the bread. My mom loved it, but it was her first time trying a po boy. The bread pudding was divine. It's such a nostalgic dessert for me and the portion you get is enough for 2 people. The interior is such a thoughtful designed place, it certainly feels like I'm at a touristy NOLA spot which is pretty cool. I order to go but the process was smooth and the staff were friendly. This was my first time and I absolutely loved it. I brought my mother for an early Mother's Day dinner and it was fabulous. We were greeted with smiles and great energy. The decor was on point. Today, I got the Catfish and Cheddar Grits with Red Gravy and to eat tomorrow, I got the Who-Dat Blackened Cajun Chicken dish. The catfish is cooked to perfection and the cheddar grits is so good. Who-Dat Blackened Cajun Chicken dish is very unique with the grits cake with the sauce, the chicken is tender and I love the artichokes is wonderful. FYI -- there is 2 areas where you can have a get together. The music is lively too. In the bar area, you can sit back and watch some sports games. The decor screams New Orleans from the second you park. When you walk in you are greeted with a grand piano and the hostess. The walls are covered with NOLA decor! I usually do shrimp and grits or the catfish and grits, this time we switched it up by ordering the appetizers. I think the entrees may be their focus. If you were in between an app or an entree I recommend the entree. We ordered fried pickles, which were a bit salty but not unbearable. The spinach and artichoke dip was pretty good, maybe a 4/7. The boudin rolls and the debris spring rolls were neck and neck with both sitting at a 5/7. The honey crystal shrimp was a bit sweeter than i expected but the presentation was excellent. As someone straight outta NOLA to give this restaurant a 5 star is a big deal. The shrimp gumbo was delicious. Flavored great, just like home the catfish and grits were delicious as well and the servings are huge. The crawfish pie was just ok, I was looking for a little more flavor. The rev beans weren't back home red beans, but they were good. Maybe too much rice bc the beans didn't give me that creamy feel. But hey, I'm born and raised so I may harder to please with some stuff We had a table of 6 plus a kid and the servers were great. We had a girl that was training and she did a good job. The shrimp and grits is very tasty, grits being very creamy and shrimp perfectly seasoned, the red wine gravy complimented the dish well. Tibby's is one of my favorite places to go to for a good Louisiana meal. The decor definitely gives a New Orleans feel along with the music. It's a cute place if you like art bc it's always decorated in there. The staff is very nice and no matter who the bartender is, the drinks are always going to be good. I've been here plenty of time but always forget to take pics bc the food is that good that I can't wait (LOL). Everything is flavorful and the quantity of food you get is large! This is one of the few places with good po boy in the area. The only downside is that the restaurant's location is kind of ducked off and the road it's on is kind of busy, so it's easy to miss the turn into the parking lot. I have been here a few times over the past year and have continued to enjoy my meals, but service has always been an issue. My most recent visit, with the restaurant being practically empty, the hostess tried to seat us at the first table closest to the hostess stand. Really? With all those empty tables, you want me to sit by the front door. Our server came within minutes, at our better located table. We hadn't even had a chance to look at menus and she wanted to take our food order. We did settle on drink orders which came quickly and again, she wanted to take our food order. There was no need to turn the tables fast as there were hardly any customers. We told her we weren't ready. It wasn't long before she came back again. I ordered the 12 Napkin Po Boy with fries. This was something I had never tried before. We didn't wait long for food and my sandwich looked great. I took one bite and found it to be barely warm. So disappointing! Do you think I could find our server now? She was nowhere to be seen and never came back so I had to eat it as it was. Never got offered another drink. My daughter and I were craving some southern cuisine and went to Tibby's for lunch. The place is beautifully decorated and taking you back to the charms of New Orleans. It was not busy and they sat us right away. For drinks, I had the Hurricane and they made it as perfectly as last time I was there. Stopped in during Mardi Gras and was treated to an excellent meal. Inside Tibbys is New Orleans 100%. Street vendor items on the walls and hanging from the ceiling. Lots to look at as you wait for food. We ordered catfish and grits, shrimp and grit cakes, a catfish/shrimp basket and a special of crawfish enchiladas. The shrimp and grit cakes was great. The shrimp had a Cajun seasoning and grit cakes were perfect to sop up the sauce. Really enjoyed the slight heat. Received a good serving of shrimp. My wife had the catfish and grits. 2 very nice catfish filets came on top of a good serving of cheddar grits. Very good meal. Kids had the basket and enchiladas. Enchiladas had the crawfish etouffe inside and came with rice. It got a 2 thumbs up. The basket was good size and had catfish and fried shrimp. Both were very good and filled our stomachs. Service was good and meals came out as expected even though it was packed! They did a good job keeping drinks filled. Had been a long time since we were here. First time at Tibby's was a great experience for me! The Cajun classics were tempting, but I decided to get the snapper topped with étouffée over dirty rice. The dish was excellent! The fish was incredibly flaky and balanced well with the generous portion of étouffée. I had gently pushed my fork into it before I took the photo. The dish overall had the right amount of flavor and kick without being too salty (which can happen with Cajun dishes). My server, Natalia, was very friendly and prompt. Tibby's is quite good and worth a return visit to try other items. By Florida standards, this is probably the closest to the Holy Grail. As far as New Orleans standards, it's a solid B+, just based on our initial visit. The prices are reasonable for the fare. The fifth star comes from the obvious care taken to deliver an authentic and pleasurable experience. The impeccable service, superb ambiance, from music, gentle lighting, and decor, made for a lovely evening I had the jambalaya, crawfish pie, filé gumbo trio. Portion sizes were ample. My husband had the fried pork chops and red beans and rice platter. We also ordered a muffuletta to go. My husband also ordered a hurricane, which I sipped. The filé gumbo is a good, New Orleans-style gumbo. I was thrilled to see a traditional ebony colored broth. It is much more soup-adjacent than a stew-adjacent, rustic Cajun gumbo. The only thing I did not care for was the obvious use of parboiled rice. The crawfish pie had a light crust and was filled with delicately sauced, perfectly cooked crawfish. Despite not being the biggest fan of crawfish, this was a pleasant surprise and a winner. The jambalaya was savory but needed a slight kick of heat to elevate it. It tasted more like a Carolina red rice. Still, very good, but well-suited for a broad audience. The hurricane was just right. I am not much of a drinker, but it packed a punch without being over the top or watered down. The red beans were such a standout! They were creamy, slightly smokey, and well-seasoned. The pork chops were fried to perfection. They were thick, gently seasoned all the way through, and moist without being greasy or salty The star of the show was actually the SERVICE! This is what earned Tibby's a fifth star. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and needed to change our reservation. The manager, Carlos, adjusted the time for us and was very accommodating and kind when we arrived. From the entrance to the main dining area, Tibby's is a love letter to New Orleans. While the decor is eclectic and maximalist, the restaurant avoids being gimmicky or kitschy. Watching the servers was like watching a well-oiled machine. If they weren't taking orders, collecting from the kitchen, dropping orders off at tables, they were constantly cleaning. Our server, Jada, was nothing short of superb. She was genuinely friendly, professional, and efficient. At the end of the evening, we enjoyed beignets and a lovely anniversary card from Carlos, on behalf of the establishment. Tibby's made our special occasion memorable and lovely. We intend to bring our family here and to host events in their private Napoleon room. The last part of this review is the to-go order of the muffuletta. We opened up this behemoth in our kitchen. Our adult kids had not had a good one in many years This is the best muffuletta outside of New Orleans! The bread is fantastic, the meats and cheese inside were fresh, piled high, and the olive salad was spot on. We had been wanting to have a decent one for a long while.My family raved over it.
