My husband and I had a wonderful time at the hot and crazy crab! You must try the hot and crazy crab juicy sauce, it was delicious! I also like how you can pick your spice lever (mild, medium, hot). We enjoyed the mild it had a small kick but nothing too spicy. The quality of the seafood was fresh and the amount you get is a lot! I had some left over. The boil comes with 2 corns and 2 potatoes. Ok so at first we were going to go to Mr. And Mrs. Crab but the line was ridiculous so we decided to give this place a try. We were seated immediately. 3 adults and one infant. We all decided to get Special Combo B which came with 1/2 lb of snow crab legs, 1 lb of shrimp without the head, and 1/2 lb of sausage and 2 potatoes and 2 corn on the cob. The hot n juicy crab special sauce consisted of Cajun, garlic butter, and lemon pepper seasoning. I chose medium and the other two adults chose mild. They give u a bib and gloves so u won't get dirty as well. Y'all, the food was so freaking good! So much flavor. The portions were great! We really enjoyed it. Tiffany, our server arrived within a short period of time took refreshment orders, returned immediately and gave us time to review the menu. Viewed website before arrival, ordered the catfish lunch: 3 fried fillets with Cajun-seasoned fries -- good choice. My daughter ordered chicken tenders with Cajun fries. Granddaughter chose the shrimp with head with Garlic Butter. This order also came with boiled potatoes and a half corn cob. Every meal was delicious and tasty, and portions were sufficient. Ranch dressing and ketchup also provided upon request. Inside decor nicely done. Plenty of seating included booths and tables as well as seating at the bar. Menu prices comparable to local area. Plenty of parking but finding a space can be challenging. Note: there's a ramp at the curb near restaurant entrance. Overall, found this to be comfortable while enjoying a delicious lunch. I'll keep it as short as possible. My husband and I went for our anniversary and can honestly say it was one of worst seafood spots we ever ate at. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves all around us but our food was definitely previously frozen. The blue crab was almost empty and had that thin shell right after molting. The shrimp was filled with poop. The crawfish for sure were frozen and full of just liquid. The $18 add on lobster tail was the size of a shrimp and also was definitely frozen. The best part was the clams and the garlic bread sticks. Ordered clam strips and Cajun fries after because we were not full. I've had better clam strips at fast food joints. Cajun fries were decent. We had 1/2 dozen raw oysters and decent. Our meal was not worth what we paid for. I added a star for our sweet waitress. read more

This was such a comfortable, wonderful dining atmosphere. The food was fantastic. I ordered a half a pound of king crabs and a half a pound of crawdads. It comes with two boiled potatoes and half your corn.. Although they messed up my order by bringing me snow crabs instead it was still delicious. I was able to order my food online! I chose the immediate pickup option which was a 25min wait from the type of order. You can also schedule a time for pickup. I liked that I could order online and then pay in the store! When I arrived, the parking lot had plenty of parking spots available. My food was ready on time! I asked if they had veterans/military discount and they did! Huge plus! The customer service that I received was great! No complaints. My transaction was quick and easy! I did glance inside and saw a clean and spacious restaurant. The ambiance is casual. The food was good! Pricey but comparable to other Cajun seafood restaurants in the area. Roach! After eating lunch on Friday 6/20/2025 we had just paid the bill and my husband says " we need to leave now". I get up right away and he tells me "look at the top of the booth". So we were looking for a seafood place with "boils" and this place popped up. It's out of the way in a small strip mall but boy o boy is it with the trip. Service was great, staff very friendly and attentive. Great choice of appetizers and more seafood choices then you can fathom. The food is served hot and really fast. Actually too fast as we were only half way through the appetizer when the main meals shows up. Prices are reasonable considering the spikes in food prices especially seafood. It's was our first time and it was pretty good. The food was good, the spice level was not super hot even though it was supposed to be. That's me though not them, I like spicy food and I may try the extra next time to see if it's my true level. Not a bad spot. It wasn't hard to find a parking at all. We got in and got seated right away. The service was a bit slow here, but they were also pretty busy. I ordered some lightly steamed oysters with the sauce on the side. It came out with the sauce drizzled all over it (the extra hot heat level). Luckily the extra hot heat level wasn't too spicy for me or else I would've never been able to eat my oysters. I have a low tolerance for spice, but the extra hot heat level wasn't too spicy for me. We made our own combo. It came out in a bag. The seafood wasn't hot. It came out warm. I got mine on medium spice level and it was a bit too salty for me. The other bag was on the hot spice level, but it wasn't as salty as mine. In all, it's not a bad spot. read more

Leaving something to look forward to for our next visit. (Especially based on other reviews. Crab! Crab! Crab!) Be aware, the focus on the Cajun part of their name is SEAFOOD. Crabs of all kinds. Mussels, Shrimp, Lobster, Scallops, Clams. No Jambalaya, no Gumbo. But it appears as though they nailed the seafood part! I started out with that classic New England Clam Chowder. It was served in a foam cup, I would have preferred no foam, but hey. The consistency of the soup was thinner than I'm used to, about like a broth. The best clam chowders I've had are a heavy, creamy potato and clam filled mix. I will say there was an abundance of clam flavor in this soup. I followed this with a simple order of Coconut Shrimp. I got 8 shrimp for just $8.95 and they were absolutely delicious. Plenty of coconut crunch and sweet shrimp yum! I'd definitely order these again. Evan was my server. He was very polite, called me Boss. LOL He made me feel like a valued customer. As I walked around to leave I saw a whole lot of finger licking seafood picking going on! Absolutely amazing experience. To date the best seafood boil I've had. The crab and shrimp peeled perfectly and were seasoned equally as good. Make sure you're ready if you order the hot. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, wasn't busy for a Friday night with an average noise level. Everything was clean and the restrooms were fine. Everything was overcooked, unfortunately. Tasted great, even though if we were to go back I think I'd like it better without all the spices and just get down to some great tasting seafood, we got the Special Combo C. It ended up costing $20 more than we were expecting based on unupdated photos, I suppose. Its the only Combo with such a large price increase so I'm sure it was fairly recently changed. The crawfish were relatively small and some we didn't even bother trying to eat. Would like tho mention a kids juice was $3, the same price as a side of mac n chz. We tried the hush puppies, onion rings, coconut shrimp, chicken wings and three separate seafood combos. I was craving seafood and as usual resorted to Yelp to find the closest and best place around; Hot N Crazy Crab popped up! I was happy to discover that it was so close we can practically walk to it from home! How come we have not seen it before?! It happens that Hot N Crazy Crab is tucked away in a shopping center in busy Bloomingdale Avenue not visible from the road. The place is appropriately decorated with a nautical theme; there are tables and booths for sitting arrangement and a good size bar which seemed to be all occupied the day we visited. Good indication! We were quickly seated, handed menus and our drink orders taken, very good indication! The menu offers a variety of mostly seafood and fish dishes. Oh my! Decisions, decisions! They also have a full bar service with very attractive looking drinks from what I can see. For appetizer we settled on one of my favorite dishes, fried calamari and I was impressed! The freshness of the calamari, the crispiness of the coating and the overall taste was amazing! It brought me back to my childhood in Spain when I used to practically live on fried calamari sandwiches!!! This place was getting more enjoyable by the minute! As Entrees we ordered from "Make your own Combo" with the choices of 1/2 pound shrimp and 1/2 pound scallops in the house special sauce accompanied by potatoes and corn on the cob. Oh my! From the time our waiter opens the bag the smell and looks of the dish we knew we were in for a treat! Everything in the dish was properly cooked and delicious; the sauce was spectacular! We enjoyed that it had a great combination of spices without overwhelming the dish. We loved it so much that we repeated the order and had a 2nd boil! Wow, what a place this turned out to be! I normally wouldn't give 5 stars for a takeout order, but I was impressed with the service and the food. This is my first time experiencing this type of seafood boil concept. I'm looking forward to dining in next time. The restaurant looked very clean, and the people up front taking my order were super nice & helpful. I didn't have to hang out too long waiting for the food to be prepared and packed. I think I was out of there within 15 minutes after placing the order. Impressive! I ordered the combination seafood boil. The one that allows you to select 2 types of seafood (a half pound each). Mom and I love mussels so it was a no-brainer to order the mixture of green and black mussels for the 2 of us. I also got the fried oyster basket which typically comes with fries. I substituted the fries with sweet potato waffle fries instead. No extra charge. Can you believe that? Everything was great! Mom really enjoyed getting her hands dirty with this meal. She ate most of the mussels, and I didn't hear a peep out of her until we were done eating. They give you gloves and bibs for takeout orders, but we didn't need to use them. My only disappointment was that I didn't see any healthy sides (like some kind of veggie other than corn or cole slaw). The fried seafood baskets have generous portions but it's just too much fried food all at once. The seafood boil on the other hand was fantastic with the garlic butter. They have a number of different seasonings like lemon pepper, cajun, and the hot & crazy sauce. I chose to keep it simple. I thought the sauce went well with the mussels. The 2 red skin potatoes and corn that comes with the boil mixture tasted pretty good with the garlic butter as well. I was blown away by the size of the green mussels. It was a nice and colorful presentation (even in the bag). I will definitely order it again. There are now 3 seafood boil places in Brandon. I haven't been to the other 2 yet, but I'm curious to try them out. I have this feeling that Hot N Crazy Crab is better, and I'm basing that on other Yelper reviews. I do hope they are here to stay. This particular storefront of this super old plaza on Bloomingdale & John Moore hasn't had much luck keeping it's tenants. They did a great job of renovating the space and making it more open and inviting. Another good thing is that there are plenty of parking spaces. I'm looking forward to trying more items. Each combo comes with two 1/2lbs of your choice of seafood or sausage, 2 red potatoes and 1 quarter piece of corn. And whatever amazing seasonings also! 4/5 Food If you look at the pics, the portions are just shy of a decent size imo. My combo was w 1 crab legs and 1 blue crab, each considered 1/2 pound. I wasn't nearly full by the end but I was satisfied. We did order some hush puppies half way through to help with that gap. And for the magic answer, yes! A literal must. The seafood was cooked to perfection and the sauce is absolutely mouthwatering. In my opinion, they overcharged for the lobster tail (which was $15 for ONE tail). Ordered steamed combo of snow crab legs, lobster tail and shrimp in medium hot n crazy crab sauce. It came with potatoes and corn in a boil bag. Food was tasty, drinks not so much; mojito was very weak, didn't have the signature cane sugar stick and wasn't muddled. Overall decent food, relax atmosphere but hold off on mixed drinks. read more
