Improve customer service. It took about an hour for food to be place on the table. I had the two selections grouper and shrimp platter. The restroom was very small not really handicap accessible also faucet needed updated. When the employee are ordering pizza should have been indication just saying. Coming on a Friday at 7p, most of the crowds were leaving. Amanda greeted us on entry n gave us the 50 year history of Willie's while helping us navigate the menu. So enjoy finding hidden gems. Willie's is a delight n fills the need for exceptional seafood. Judy had grilled scallops while I had fried oysters. Both 5 star. The hush puppies were perfect. Not so with the too sweet southern slaw, or the so so FF. Had to order Ellen's famous onion rings. I've passed this place for years, but in my head I always thought it would a fishy place where the fish was just dirty tasting or fishy like another local place I've been to in Lakeland. But wow! In Brandon as a stopover between rally in Cape Coral and the Tampa RV Show and Yelp guided us here for dinner. Arrived at 6 on the dot on a Saturday evening and were seated immediately. Server took drink orders and mama asked if she could get a tiny sample of the Creole Cream sauce, which the server brought promptly along with my beer. They have a limited beer and wine selection, and I was surprised to find Corona and Modelo Negra in bottles at a seafood place. No bar and nothing on tap. Old Florida fish camp feel to the place, with sketches in the wall of some of the local establishments from the 1800's. Ordered a Modelo and the "pick 2" combo with shrimp and clam strips, and fries as my side. Mama had the French scallops with green beans, which were loaded with bacon and flavor. Both meals were excellent, with the only downside being some very blah fries. They did make a good way to get ketchup into my mouth, though. The true star of both meals was the scallops and the Creole cream sauce. Amazing, with a perfect cook and great flavor. Service from Breaunna (their spelling, not mine), according to the receipt, was excellent. I'd defo recommend Willie's if you're in the area, and I'm pretty sure we'll be back when we're at next years Tampa RV show. If I could make a suggestion to the management team, hold the tartar sauce on a meal that doesn't have fish in it, and add another cup of cocktail sauce. I've been coming here since 2010. There have been some changes but overall, the service and food are great. I really don't deviate from what I eat here. I get the fried combo (now a pick 2) instead of the old pick 3. Shrimp and oysters are my favorite and they are highly seasoned. If you like gator bites, you should not pass them up while here. It's never overly crowded here and is a small, quaint place. This is a great place to bring out-of-town guests. Enjoy and the menu is different from the photos presently shown. read more

Stopped in after Sunday services, I'd been here a few times but it's been 10 years or so. I remembered the food was good from years ago. It's tucked away with a small parking lot. As you enter it has a very old time Florida feel, the decor is vintage and feels good. Like an old river side fish shack, but nice. Wood floors, sunken dining room, mounted fish adorn the walls, along with cigar boxes and old photographs of locals and local historical significance. We were sat promptly and service was fast and friendly. The hostess mentioned they had just freshened up and remodeled a bit. Drinks came first and shortly after coleslaw. The slaw, couldn't tell if it was from a bag or made from fresh, the pieces of slaw were very very small almost puréed, which for my taste was a little off putting initially. If I had the choice I wouldn't get it again, I prefer larger shredded pieces and a tangy, slightly sweet more vinegar based slaw. Don't mind me though, I'm picky when it comes to slaw. My wife said "it's ok", not our favorite, the kids didn't touch it. We all got, catfish, grouper and gator baskets. They came with hush puppies and fries. The grouper was perfectly fried, seasoned well and tasted from fresh not frozen. It was delicious! The hush puppies are perfectly crunchy outside, soft and slightly sweet inside and dipped in tartar....... So good. The catfish had a different breading, again perfectly fried and seasoned perfectly! The gator was delicious it's like a gamey chicken, crispy breading not to heavy just right and tender white meat morsels. Service was great! Food was delicious, with exception of slaw. My parents dinner was great tasting as they said but on the other hand my steak was suppose to be well done it came out raw ''red''. So our waitress came and took the steak to the back and it came back out less than 2 minutes fast on the grill as I called it as so when I got the steak back at the table it was still blood shot red. So the waitress kindly asked since this problem still exist let's your steak dinner off the bill so I said please this is one of the nastiest steak dinners I ever had. Came by after many years of living away. We new this as Fat Willies Fish Camp. We came by about 8:30 on Friday. We were seated right away and our Server Amanda was quick to take our order. We loved her honesty about not liking fish and loving shrimp. She was a 5 star server! We started with gator bites, found them to be very chewy and a bit difficult to eat and a bit greasy. We ordered New Orleans grouper with scallops and shrimp. It was very good but fries could have been cooked longer. Hush puppies were great, ordered more. We also had Seafood pasta with creole cream sauce. Loved the local pasta from The Ravioli Company of Tampa. The sauce was also very good. Thought the seafood was a little light. We will definitely be back what a fun time we had! It is very relaxed and great place to sit and chat. Will try some other fun menu items next time. read more

Willie's is one of our favorites. We generally get the pasta. It is made fresh in Ybor. Willie's is excellent, in food quality, quantity and service! The staff is super friendly. It's a great local gem we discovered through long term Brandon residents. The ambience has a local flair, not fancy but fun. Drinks are in plastic cups and table covers are picnic style plastic, so don't expect fancy, just expect great food! Excellent service. Great food. The fried catfish was delicious and so was the coleslaw. Others at my table had salmon, Mahi-mahi, and crab legs. They were all very happy with their selections too. A couple of minor complaints. The fries seemed to be an afterthought. They were cold and a bit greasy. Also, there was an annoying noise once in awhile near where I was seated. Willie's is the kind of place I seek out especially in the day and age of everything new, chain restaurants, no history, and no authenticity. Now, I'll admit I am sentimental and I went to this place growing up, back when it was Fat Willy's Fish Camp, so my review is biased due to sentimentality. The building that this restaurant sits in was built in 1915 and served as a general store for 7 years. Having been a restaurant since 1970, they have acquired plenty of country decor and lots and lots of taxidermy, almost all fish, including mounts of trophy sized fish including bass, catfish, sea trout, dophinfish, tarpon and a HUGE Sailfish. Also a giant Alligator skull and a really nice mural of old Florida swamp land. The menu is old school Florida Seafood with a country slant. (The hush puppies are excellent.) We were there on a Tuesday night at about 6:15 so it was nice and easy. Our server was prompt in greeting us and very attentive throughout our meal. The kids meals are $5(and you can get dophin/mahi fingers!) and was plenty of food. My parents split 1 order of the peel and eat shrimp and there were 27 big shrimp on the plate and they were delicious. I had the New Orleans style catfish, broiled and served covered with small shrimp and scallops. A tad oily but the fish was excellent. My green beans I believe were canned, but still tasty, as I said this is old school country cooking, kinda like having dinner at Grandma's house. My husband was craving seafood and Bonefish wasn't accepting DoorDash orders. We had never heard of Willies but didn't want fried seafood. We took a chance and were really amazed. Food is good. Get there early for a parking spot that isn't in the weeds. Their gator tail is awesome - tender, soft, and almost melts in your mouth. Probably the best I've had in the area considering other places I've eaten it serve it tough as shoe leather with a swampy taste. I don't know what they do at Willies to make it taste as good as it does. Most trips we've had were fine. Wait service on the last trip left a little to be desired. Waitress pulled a Houdini as soon as we sat down. By the time she came back, she was slammed with a full section and just started randomly taking orders. Ask for Mary! She is the best. I loved the atmosphere, being like the only Asian there made me feel special. Joking aside, its not a place for healthy eaters, most of the food is fried or oily. But I don't care, as I knew that going in. I ordered soft shell crab, gator bites, and catfish! I recommend them all. The food was very good and heavy, I was filled up so quickly. The key lime pie was amazing! But the server "Mary" is what made it all worth it, so friendly and warm, especially being new to town. The prices was normal as well... I had the pleasure of having dinner with my family members at this seafood establishment. This was my first visit there and I must admit that the food was VERY good. I am a catfish lover and I found out that they have all-you-can-eat catfish,shrimp, and whitefish on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday nights for 15.99. The side option I chose for my meal was the red potatoes which were very delicious. I'm not a coleslaw lover but their coleslaw is tasty. The hush puppies are delicious as well. Our waitress Charly was very attentive and was very helpful in explaining the menu. She was always available asking if we wanted any additional helpings. Thanks Charly for your exemplary service! I am still confused as I sit here and write this review, as to why there are so many excellent reviews. My family and I visited this restaurant based off of the 5 star reviews that we read. We had the all you can eat option, and we tried the catfish, tilapia and shrimp. Everything is fried in the same grease, and everything including the fries all taste alike. That taste that I am referring to can be described as bland! There was nothing, and I mean NOTHING special about this seafood. The fries were not fresh and we had to ask for more. The only positive rating for a food item was the tarter sauce. That was the best tarter that I've had in my life. However, they must prepare them early on in the day, and it is served in a paper cup that was falling apart from being wet and soggy from the sauce. They should come up with another option for serving the sauce. Customer service was lacking in the drink refill department. Also, the restaurant itself is small and like a dive. They could use a deep cleaning. I felt as if the extent of their cleaning was wiping tables down after the patrons leave. The floors were dirty and walls were dusty. The woman's bathroom could be more presentable as well. Also, the crayons that they give the kids to color with are all broken and falling apart. They were also dirty. read more

Everything you want in a super casual "hole in the wall" seafood place. You know it's a good sign when you approach and there are cars everywhere and happy people exiting the restaurant rubbing their bellies in satisfaction. Lots and lots of fried options but also some great grilled or blackened seafood choices as well. I ordered the Alaskan snow crab legs. They give you a pound and a half with Cole slaw, hush puppies and choice of fries or green beans for less than $20. The crab meat was plentiful and delicious. I actually like that there are minimum sides to choose from so they don't distract from the tasty seafood. Went with my best friend but told my hubby we'll have to go as I think I found our new "go to" seafood places. read more
