We live in Glendale, AZ and had no problems scheduling or working with the owner Danny, who provided a high level customer experience from top to bottom. We basically just had a new fireplace screen installed since our old one was broken and falling off. The door itself is a real work of art and looks even better than advertised. The exploratory conversations (which were done in person) and the installation itself were punctual and handled in a reasonable amount of time. Let's start by saying with the reviews I saw with FDG this should of been an easy choice. Yes, I was wrong and should of looked elsewhere for someone to build my fireplace doors. I had them come out and take measurements to get some doors built and once I left the deposit we were told 2-3 weeks to get them completed and installed. After looking at some pictures and had a couple of my own ideas we left the deposit and had them start the process. We were 4 weeks into it and after a call from me to find out when will they be done someone called to set up a install date. The day came for the install and they looked good from a distance but once it was installed I noticed the doors were not straight as well as the installer saw the same thing. FDG said it's no problem and they would get another one built to make it right. So they took the doors and said it would be done in a week because it would be put in front of other orders. Three weeks later after I called a couple times and was told they would be done shortly they scheduled my appointment again and came to install them again and instead of rebuilding the doors or cutting out the sections that were bad they decided to use a grinder on the bottom to make it level. So they took the doors for three weeks to grab a 4" grinder and spend 2 minutes grinding the bottom. When someone is spending a lot of money on custom doors and they are wrong please make them right and not Mickey Mouse the build. On top of it all they didn't even paint the part they were grinding. As a quick note on the second trip out even after the so call fix the doors still didn't fit correct. So they took them back for the third time and no quick responses from FDG I told them I want the doors done correct or my deposit back. After they thought about it for a day or so I get a call for the office person that they are going to refund my deposit. What a joke and waste of my time having to leave work to meet these people. I have plenty of pictures and videos of the fire place and doors but at this point I think you get my point of what I received. The last thing I want to say if my fireplace opening is 100 percent square and level which is very, very rare but it was just done. Just wanted to throw that out so that doesn't get blamed for the crooked doors. read more

I bought 4 fireplace doors. The one outside, NOT in the elements, started to rust and fall apart. It has NOT gotten wet! I called 3 times to get this addressed and they don't return calls! I don't know what is going on but this is extremely poor service! Does not make me want to purchase the additional one for my daughters house. We moved into our new home 7 years ago and I hated the fireplace, it was ugly, had columns on each side, ugly mantel and hearth and the fireplace door fronts were dated and cheap. We finally went through a remodel and I informed my husband the remodel had to include the fireplace which is the first item you see when you walk into our home. What a great transformation the fireplace has made to our home. We took out the ugly columns and added brick, the hearth is a beautiful natural stone, the mantel is a nice simple beam and the last item to be replaced was the front doors and Wow did they make the fireplace shine. We received 3 bids and Jake was informative, helpful and the prices were right online. What I liked about Jake was that he could make me the front door I wanted since I didn't see one in his catalog. I had a specific front door I wanted and he stated he could create it. He also informed us on the gas log option which my husband wanted and I didn't. We ended up with upgrading the unit into a gas log instead of wood burning, time will tell if we like it. Jake's father came in and installed the front doors, it took 4 weeks which I was okay with. Terrible customer service. I was told the owners son took over the business. After waiting 3 weeks for my door, they got the measurements and color wrong. I was told it would be fixed in one week. After 2 weeks I called for an update and was told the owner would call me. I called everyday and could not get a straight answer and continue to hear that the owner would call me. Everytime I called the owner, I would get no answer. After another 3 weeks of waiting, I finally got my door and still have not heard from the owner like I was told many times. Poor service! I was required to push a rating star, would of rather chosen ZERO stars. I don't even know where to start. I feel completely ripped off! I was charged $750 for 20 minutes worth of work and supposedly 10 bags of glass rock. I received 3 different stories from 3 different people in regards to the pricing charges. Obviously they were trying to cover their inconsistencies in pricing. The job should have cost maybe $200. The owner was beyond rude and condescending. I was referred to them by a close friend.
