I'm so glad to have visited this new restaurant! Very affordable and incredibly genuine staff. My partner and I couldn't snag a reservation online and ended up getting bar seats by walking in. Loved everything we tried. The cocktail and martini menu is so fun--I'd go back in a heartbeat. Great for dinner, but can also easily be a stop for a quick drink and bite. Definitely a place to go! We went last night and everything was spot on. Starting with a warm welcome to a big booth. Morgan was a our wonderful server. We ordered the lamb meatballs, mushroom toast, shrimp cocktail to start then added the Salt & Vinegar Fries... WOW, the fries were outstanding. So much so, we ordered the Fish n Chips because it came with fries. I'm a sauce girl and I could drink the Calabrian honey aioli that came with fries. Fish was perfection with the crispiest coating ever and white tender fish inside. Delicious Lamb meatballs came sitting in whipped ricotta which I used on the mushroom toast. The toast had a great combination of flavors that I loved. Shrimp cocktail was more typical except the shrimp were more tender, I'm guessing because they use shrimp ceviche. I can hardly wait to go back and try the crab pasta and lobster donut. But, better make my reservation before I post this. Highly anticipated third opening from one of my favorite restaurants, Yellowbelly. Very seafood focused menu, we started with their baked oysters which were small, and kind of went as quickly as they came. The hamachi crudo was a vibrant opening bite, but proved to be too citrus dominant. A lot of the rave is going to their lobster donut, which was honestly pretty good, but about halfway through, you sort of just wish you were eating a lobster roll instead. The donut is by far the best part of the dish, though. Best thing we tried, I would say, were their skewers. Well executed and the flavors just came through super well. I think this was a solid showing from the restaurant group, but I really don't see a reason why you wouldn't just go to Yellowbelly instead. Loved this place! We came for a girls night out and it was the perfect place. Food was delicious and drinks were strong. Wish I took pictures but trust, the Wavy Burger, S+V fries and lamb meatballs were delicious. Service was beyond good as well. Our original reservation was at 8 and the ladies got us in at 530p. So this review is long overdue. I've been to this spot several times but just never shared my feedback..SHAME ON ME! This place deserves 10s across the board. Everything I've ever had at this place -- food, cocktails and service have all been top tier. Tonight I had: *an espresso martini - well blended, just enough kick and quite yummy *the popcorn shrimp - definitely not popcorn size, great flavor and perfectly hot and crispy with a very tasty dipping sauce *crab pasta - pasta was cooked to perfection, the crab had a delicious slightly citrus flavor and a creamy decadent sauce topped with bread crumbs- paired with a lemon drop martini it is *took the chocolate cake to go, and it literally is maybe the moistest most perfectly balanced chocolate cake Ive ever had - rich but not too sweet - and the portion was just right. It's these kinds of great experiences that keep me coming back to this place. Very happy to get a reservation at the bar last minute! Extra Wavy is a new addition to our neighborhood and we were very excited to try it. The ambiance is darker at the bar, the tables had noticeably more light. But I enjoyed the bar. The chairs are very comfortable. It's a big bar with a good amount of seating and spacing between the chairs. The service was great. Our bartender was very knowledgeable of the menu. The drinks were excellent. We had the Lemon Drop (w/ vodka) and Plot twist. I preferred the Lemon Drop but both were great. The food was good. I don't eat meat or seafood but there were plenty of vegetarian options. The Panzanella was really good. Lots of tomatoes and bread! The vegetable skewers were my favorite, the pesto was really nice. I also had the fried polenta and shared fries. The fried polenta was delicious and I really liked the sauce they sat in. The fries were okay. I like a bit of malt vinegar on my fries but the vinegar and salt was bit much. The aioli they came with helped tone it down a bit. My boyfriend had the Shrimp Puttanesca and really liked it. The shrimp and pasta were cooked to perfection. The sauce was good and only became better as he kept eating. He's a shrimp lover and had been very excited to try Extra Wavy. Overall we really enjoyed our dinner. A great new spot in the neighborhood! First off, they have tons of parking which is just really nice. The atmosphere is fun and playful. Servers were warm, inviting and so knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the hamachi crudo which was fantastic. We also got the whipped ricotta which was great too- we cleaned the plate. I got the crab pasta which I didn't love because it was super heavy and one note tasting, so I'm going to try something else next time. My friend loved it and ended up cleaning my plate so it didn't go to waste! Love the wavy burger and the side of fries! I'll be back soon to try more! read more

Yellow Belly is one of our favorite restaurants, so we were so excited to try Extra Wavy. I enjoyed the atmosphere. And service was exceptional! The presentation of the dishes exceeded our expectations. We ordered several cold and hot menu items. The crudo dishes were beautiful; scallop was my favorite. The hamchi crudo had an almost overpowering citrusy component, but was delicious when you could get past it. The skewers: pork belly was super tender, but the chicken was a bit dry. The panzenella won my husband's heart- refreshing and flavorful. We had to try the infamous lobster donut - I am usually not a fan of cold lobster sandwiches, but the lobster salad was sooooo good, I could eat a full plate of it. The donut provided a nice pillowy carrier for the salad; I was not expecting to like it as much as I did. (Get the side of fries! Salt and vinegar seasoned; pretty tasty!) Ambiance was cool and the cocktails were very good. Taking reservations at the bar was "new" but probably not well thought out. We struggled to get service after our initial greeting. Generally small menu. The fish in the fish and chips was almost entirely breading/batter, very little fish. Was supposed to be 8 ounces. Was maybe 3 ounces. Since it was tough to get someone to stop by, I did not tell anyone. Should have taken a photo. Definitely would not recommend ordering that. Salt and Vinegar Fries were good but a little too much seasoning. They also needed something to dip them into. Again, couldn't get anyone to check on us to ask. Lamb meatballs lacked flavor. Dessert selection is only ice cream and macarons. I'd go back for drinks/happy hour but not to eat. read more

Just tried this new Lafayette Square adjacent restaurant. The atmosphere is light, upbeat and upscale casual. The mixed drinks and oysters with their house made mignonette were the highlights. The lobster donut was quite good while the fish and chips were average. The menu is limited which is expected for a new place. The service was friendly and attentive. Food was delivered extremely late with missing items, and when we asked about missing items we were told that one of the two entrees we ordered were being paced out. After 30 minutes we still didn't receive the missing items. The thing is we could hear the staff discussing they missed our items. Still after asking about our items again they didn't know where the food was. I'd recommend the staff don't lie about mistakes that are made because I totally understand when there are mistakes! I am so disappointed by this place. We live in Lafayette Square so I was so excited about a raw bar and cocktail bar to open in town. Cocktails are excellent, and I will absolutely be back for drinks, but half of the "raw" bar is cooked stuff, shrimp and smoked salmon, and the oysters, which are the main thing I think of at a raw bar, are of no particular origin and had no taste. if you're selling your restaurant as a "raw bar", I expect fresh oysters with some described origin and some different options with different character. The hamachi crudo was good, the crab pasta was excellent. The lobster donut was OK, but did not taste like lobster. They could save both of us some money and make the same thing with canned tuna and it would taste the same. The kitchen was slow and courses came out in an odd order. Overall I'm unlikely to go back for food unless they make substantial changes and upgrade the "raw" bar. That said, wonderful cocktails and I do plan on returning for drinks. read more

I wanted to love extra wavy, and I just can't. The ambiance is good, the music was eclectic, but the food and service were sub-par. The oysters were somehow completely flavorless (and I just had some delicious ones at olive+oak so I know they are available in st louis!) and overly sterile. The hamachi crudo tasted more of citrus than fish, but was pleasantly textured. The lobster doughnut was delicious, but surprisingly small and so heavily seasoned that they could have used any seafood and got the same flavor- the lobster itself did not shine at all. The brought the fig/ricotta "salad" out after the lobster and it was soo sweet it may have well have been a dessert. While the rest of the meal was overall good (not great) this dish was cloying and should be skipped if they cannot balance the flavor better. The crab pasta was surprisingly delicious and filling, a first for the evening. The star of the show (and the reason to go back) were the drinks, my mocktail with pistachio foam was really fun and my husband loved both his cocktails. The wait times for the food, including from the raw bar, was far too long, and our waitress seemed disinclined to check on us. Overall will be back for drinks but not food. Hopefully this is just growing pains, and they figure out their service, timing, and flavors! read more
