So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

I also thought the service was a good value for the level of work they provided. What I especially appreciated was that they worked with me to find a solution when my plans changed. At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

Looks like I am not the only one, don't know if that makes me feel better or worse. When I called Karen was awesome and I was so excited for the service. Silly me. I have moved 10 times before this in as many years. This is BY FAR the worst experience I have had. I KNOW how long it takes to move my place. Not only did this take more than TWICE as long with allegedly a whole other person, they brought a fourth unauthorized guy. And still took more than half the time. One guy sat in the truck most of the time, I have pictures, the others didn't start on my kitchen until the end, had to wait for that....later to find out when I went back to the old apartment they hadn't even finished the whole kitchen ...ran over my allotted time at the building I was moving out of, at my cost. And then they ruined my couch. So I paid DOUBLE what I was expecting, which was already more than what was quoted cause I was adding a little buffer, but ended up tipping a whole additional person because I'm not a jerk. The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. I'm not even cheap but I hate being taken for a fool, and it turned out to be just that. That's what I get what I get for using hourly movers for the first time, never again. A slow work scam, exactly what I was worried about, but like an idiot I bought into the reassurances Karen gave me but they truly let her down. I hope she knows they're having her selling lies.

I had to wash everything, after I got it out of storage. I had to throw out my rugs and bed because of the mice. The bugs lay eggs on my rug and bed. Sometimes I went there I would discover a dead mouse in my unit. I had to always throw them out. If I would have known mice would do something like that and there would be bugs. I wouldn't have put my stuff in there. It is unfair that they close at 10pm. I get off work at 9:30pm and it takes 30 minutes to get up there. By The time I get there. They are close. The only good thing, I can say about that place. It was easy to cancel. Never going back there again.

They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

It wasn't intentional, but the amount of damage we saw was much more than what I would have been okay with. The furniture and location was difficult however given that everything made it to where they needed to be, I'm sure it could have been done much more carefully. But then after putting in our claim on damages with ample proof of damages, and also our honest review, my wife received a call from one of the movers asking us to take down the poor review because they would get in trouble with the owners. Now I'm wondering goes on behind the scenes because the good reviews seems much more shady now. How many other reviews got asked to be taken down? They got the move done and did it relatively quick given the difficulty. The price was rather high given the quality of work completed. And given how quick they were to request us to take a poor review down to me deserves an even poorer review. Honestly, if they had taken accountability right away to the damages I would have felt better about a simple 3 star review. I can't in good conscience recommend Zip Moving and Storage.

I have an antique washstand that was given to me by a friend that recently passed away.The two bolts that hold the mirror on the washstand have just vanished. I unpacked everything checking very carefully looking for the 2 bolts. I remember seeing the packer wrapping the mirror in paper, I found the mirror shoved on top of a limited edition lamp lighter santa (Lenox) ,the lamp was broken and now will not light.(leaving it worthless ,also a gift from same deceased person. I have tried to see if 3 hard wear stores may have bolts ,or something similar to replace the bolts that were lost. NO LUCK so the wash stand is also useless .Then to add insult to engery 2 days before the move the sales rep. emails me in rush ,asking me to please call them .When I call I am asked if I can move my moving date to the 3rd or 4 of the mo. After I had given notice of move , set up people to help with them taking time off from work ect. My reply absolutely not from that point on it was complete downhill. On the first 0f April , the movers show up The first thing I am met with is the foreman as he called his self ,telling me I have to pay for all packing materials ,boxes, paper wrapping , bobble wrap ect. I had a contract of all inclusive I showed him the contract , and it took another 30 to 45 mins of back and forth about the contract , until I got the sales rep. on the phone.O lets talk about the phone . Every time I looked one of the 3 movers were on the phone. The so called foreman seemed to have it growing to his ear.( padding there time for more money)By 12 pm two friends had showed up to take a few personal things in cars . They could not believe how little had been loaded onto truck. So we packed there cars , and in 20 mins they left ,not living more then 10 mins away ,3 hours later I called them to let them know that I had been told by foremen they would be wrapped up in 20 mins .They came back and about 3.30 pm we finally head to new location. My friend's and I arrive 20 to 30 mins before the movers Then there is the ordeal of there truck not fitting under the garage entrance another 20 mins lost .Then there is the time where the foremen tells me he will not unload until I pay , I reply the move is not finished. There again is another 20 mins of debate, until I give him my credit card. By this point it is close to 4 pm ,I reserved the service elevator from 12 pm to 5 pm which I had explained at the very beginning of this day from HELL. Seemed that knowledge is what caused the foremen and the movers to just drag out the day . (BTW6 years ago I moved into the place I was moving from now, and the entire move took 8 hrs total . that is with those movers having to deal with two flights of stairs) O also BTW these movers decided to unpack furniture that had been packed ,unwrap things that had been wrapped , and then rewrap . empty drawers that I had been told did not need to be emptied ,The movers 6 yrs ago never emptied any drawers and managed just fine. It was anything they could do to prolong this move ,make more hrs of work to pad time for more money. As they moved furniture into new place I was seeing more and more damage. Broken legs off of furniture ,that later had to be just thrown away, absolutely no way to fix .Dinning room table is looking as if a knife fight happened on top of it .dents , sketches ,sofa turn down one pillow ,night stand looks as if it was just thrown off truck 6 yr old $7000.00 bedroom set looks like it is 100 yrs old .bed frame missing bolts .What was once a very study bedframe now just warbles and is very lose They continue to add unsigned charges to credit card small claims court and a lawyer is on its way more to te

If they have a cleaning service too, I would have gladly taken that. They gave me a video call and gave me a solid quote. I was happy in the end. They moved everything as I wanted and made sure my furniture and TVs were in good shape. I appreciate the service. I hope to work with them again.
