I was biking on the Crescent Trail and stumbled upon this security storage center. I was looking for a place to potentially store my items for a year and a few months, so I had parked my bike at the bike rack they have. I also had noticed there was a mini bike repair center free of use next to the bike rack, which I thought was quite lovely of the business to have. The parking lot area was clean, and there was a sign showing the entrance to the building's main office where you could talk to a sales associate to gain more information about storage and rent a unit. Upon entering the building, there was a hand sanitizer station on my left, the associate desk in front of me, and boxes for sale on my right side. For COVID-19 precautions, only two customers could enter the establishment at a time. The entrance was brightly lit and within a minute of entering, I was greeted by a female associate who had asked me what brought me in today and what items I was looking to store. I had informed her I was new to using public storage so she assured me that it's an easy process and would tell me all of the detaIls. I was given a tour of the small locker storage room, which was about 4.5 x 4.5 ft. It was clean with no signs of food or trash on the floor. I was informed there are no pests and they do have a pest come in a few times a month as well as a preventative measure. You could provide your own lock but they also sell locks. In addition, unlike some other storage locations, both humidity and temperature are controlled. Since it's your own lock you're using, you have access to coming to your storage place whenever you need it. It's also a month-month situation and they provide a free movers truck you could drive to transport your items. Overall, it's a friendly and clean establishment! I ended up storing my items with someone I know, so I didn't have to use this place. But, if I need it in the future, I'll definitely consider using it! read more

Answered my question on the telephone quickly. Had the space that I needed. Easy to reserve the space. Easy to access the space. Had lots of carts to move property in. Lent me a lock!!! Space was clean, climate controlled, well-lit, and safe. You could not ask for a more professional service. There were places that offered to do it cheaper but they would have been hassles or inadequate. Definitely you get value. I had not had the occasion to use self storage in the past but after inheriting a lot of nice furniture and other items, I needed a short term solution in a location convenient to my home and/or work. I found both in Security Public Storage on River Road just outside of DC by Little Falls Parkway (and along the Capital Crescent Trail). I have been very very impressed - from the flexible term length to the quality of the facility and in particular the personability of all of the staff, leasing 2 units here for appx 6 months was a breeze and I think a good value. From the free use of a small cargo truck on move-in to the ice cold water I was greeted with on move-day (much appreciated), to the availability of hand carts and other wheeled assistants to moving stuff around, to the Kurig Coffee when I stop in, and to the prorated monthly billing on move-out, everything was smooth and easy. Sitting between my home and my work, it could not have been more convenient either! No wonder they are over 95% leased! If you need a neat, clean, secure, climate controlled and easily accessible storage solution, I cannot recommend SPS more highly. Kudos! read more

I was with Security Public Storage (SPS) for eight years. The company located in Sacramento, CA. hires a couple to manage the facility. This facility was clean, temp and humidity control good, and location ideal. But the prices are too high! And during the pandemic the owners gave the same discount to long time customers as new customers with smaller units. All in the name of fairness because they know nothing about standard business practices. Also, the couple literally does nothing to help except collect your money. Notifications are sent out before a unit becomes late and there is never consistency i.e., an email or a courtesy phone call. I posted three reviews for a $15 credit and it took 11 months and three reminders until they finally applied it. Every time I called SPS no-one would return my call. Every time! I got so tired of dealing with these people that I moved to a more reasonable facility. The place is good for short term but definitely find another place long term unless you don't care about the prices! In response to Man C. of Security Public Storage (SPS). My new company has the exact same "state of the art security" as SPS as well as a gated entrance. In terms of climate control I'm storing artwork so that's very important. And my new company has sensors that control temp and humidity year round. Finally, the reason companies offer (discounts) to long term customers is because customer incentives help customers to feel valued rather than exploited! read more

This is a perfectly great, clean, safe solution for a storage unit. I used it 2 years ago but if I ever needed to use a storage space again, it'd be here. The area is safe and very convenient if you live in NW DC, it's right over the DC line, yet it feels remote. It's a quieter area and moving our stuff in/out was really easy, not crowded, several ginormous elevators, all working. Parking the car there to get stuff was not a problem at all. Most of the other DC options were in not-so-great areas and had reports of rodent droppings or water damage etc. so I didn't choose those, but who knows, they could've been fine. Bottom line, after 6 months of storage, a full apartment's worth of furniture had no damage, no water damage, no bugs, no evidence of rodents. And the move in/out was easy-peasy. read more

I had to move out of a different storage facility that was charging very high rates, so I looked around Bethesda for convenient, clean and safe facilities. My family had used SPS Bethesda about 10 years ago to store household goods during an international relocation, so I looked here first. The family-led team is not only very helpful, accommodating and easy to work with but they are generally nice and want to provide excellent service. I had reserved a unit for a 1-bedroom apartment and realized once my moving truck arrived that the space was too small. The management immediately found a different, larger unit (directly across the hall) and had me set up in the new unit within minutes. I have only been a tenant for a few months, but if you are looking for a short-term storage solution with low hassle, I would look here first again. read more

I have been using Security Public Storage for a long time and have watch both the facility and management change, i believe, for the most part, better. My only complaint is that I was not made aware of the rental increase in what I believe to be an appropriate manner. I had pre-paid my rent for 6 months last year (2010) and when I got my first bill after the pre-paid term had expired, discovered that my rent had increased by $10.00 a month. Other than this, which is a big issue, iam pleased with the service, cleanliness and ease of use. read more

I have been a customer for more than 10 years. This is the most well run storage facility I have ever seen. It is always immaculately clean. I have never seen any signs of insects or rodents inside or outside the building. The trash receptacles are never full to overflowing. The mechanical issues of access and egress are always working properly. The facility inside and out is well-lit and I have never felt un-safe at any time that I have been there. It is certainly more expensive than many of the facilities in the area but I never have to worry about the safety or condition of the items I have stored in my 10 x 17 unit. read more

The store sells a large variety of different-sized boxes, which definitely came in handy. The free moving truck was appreciated and saved me money! Prior to selecting Security Public Storage, I visited another storage unit facility nearby, but the temperature in the units was definitely not climate controlled. The manager even helped us park the truck so we could be sure not to back into anything!
