I've been storing at the facility on Butler Road for years. It's awful and I've only been sticking with it because it would have been too much of a hassle to move all my stuff. My storage unit has had water leaks and mouse infestations. In both cases, when I complained to management they did nothing. Fortunately I stored my things in plastic bins so the mouse poop, dead mouse corpses and water did not reach my stuff, but still it is disgusting. The on-site management used to be this nice guy who was helpful, but he's gone. Now they often have a bratty young woman who has actually hung up on me when I called about the elevators. The latest is that both elevators have been out of service repeatedly over recent months and the management could give no timeline for when they'd be repaired. My unit is on the third floor so that meant I couldn't remove anything heavy. That is the last straw. I have finally had it, and a friend and I are going to move my stuff out next month. read more

Both elevators in the building are out of service. Management can't tell you when they will be functional. There's no customer service at all. I currently have no access to the unit on the 3rd floor, and I am unsure what I am paying for. Have asked for a refund, and there has been no response. do not use this location or this company. read more

Rakita has been very sweet and helpful both times I have spoken to her. But the office is staffed less than half the times I was here during business hours. I got a storage unit in the upper level and it gets very hot and humid during the summer. On the other hand, it is relatively decent over the winter. Plus, as with other storage spaces, they will increase the prices after a few months and again every few months after that. If I were to do it again, I would rent a spot for the non-summer months if possible. read more

Generally Public storage has decent facilities as I have a few storages with them. And this one here is exceptional in customer service. Rickeda who's the member of staff that I have most times encountered at this facility is terrific in her services and is always willing to help. A little adjustment might be needed in the temperature, but its a well-kept facility. read more

Unreliable. Zero communication. Unhelpful. After storing some large furniture items for a few months, I alerted the building via their online portal that I would be canceling my unit and retrieving my items. In October 2020, I made travel plans from Chicago to DC to retrieve these items for my new place back in Chicago. After renting a Uhaul truck, my father and I arrived at the location and we were informed that the elevator was out of service and that we would not have access to it for many days. The manager on site, Gregory, was amiable, but not helpful. He gave me his supervisor's information, Ehdaa, and after calling and emailing she never responded to my concerns. My unit was located on the top floor which presented an extreme challenge in moving my furniture. We were only able to bring down a couple of small items and I was forced to abandon the unit due to my travel restrictions. This would not have been an issue if the elevator were fixed promptly. I made these travel plans and spent money on a Uhaul to retrieve my furniture items from your storage facility. When I arrived this was impossible due to the elevator being out of service. I requested reimbursement for the Uhaul truck and the items I was forced to abandon, this request was never acknowledged. I was not alerted about the broken elevator prior to my arrival and very little was done to offer assistance to me and my father. Find another place to store your property. If it's a few dollars more than this place, it's absolutely worth it. read more

Renter beware and read your contract carefully. You get a good deal for the first 6 months. Then Public Storage can raise your rate at their discretion. Which is what happened to me. For a 10X10 unit I was paying $210. I was shocked to receive notification that my increase was going to $287 per month. A 33% increase in only 6 months. Needless to say we moved out. they arbitrarily increase your rent, the only thing that you are assured of is random rent increase. I expect increase yearly, and an amount on par with consumer price increase or something equivalent, but here an increase of almost 50% is standard business for them. they don't care about you, find another place. read more

The worst thing about this location is the lack of personnel on site. It doesn't matter what time you go, you rarely find someone there who can troubleshoot issues. They do not answer the phone number listed or call back in a reasonable amount of time. That is an issue if you are trying to access or address something at the time you are there. I have to do call the 1-800 and make a fuss for someone to assist me. Next, the storage doors are hard to open so every time I go there, I need assistance. They have told me it is the dried paint or the humidity, or other reasons which do not solve the issue. They say it's climate controlled but you can smell the humidity. And the most outrageous thing about Public Storage is their price hikes. They are increasing their monthly rate to $325 per month for a 10x10. This is what they do. They count on the fact that it costs money for you to move so they keep hiking up the rates, their practices are comparable to what you might imagine loan sharks do. I have had to put up with it but at over $300, it is not ok. It's vile! read more

I would have given this establishment 5 stars if it weren't for the snafu that cropped up after the original company was bought out by Public Storage. Natch, I had to sign another rental agreement. New company ... new agreement ... no problem. The clerk assured me that I didn't have to do anything with regard to insurance since I was providing my own through my auto insurance. When my bill almost doubled, I figured Public Storage had increased my rental price. I was about to move my belongings to another facility when I found out the higher amount was due to a rental fee increase AND an insurance fee. WHAT!?! When I called Customer Service I was told in no uncertain terms that a refund would not be forthcoming. Period. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, the CS person asked if there was anything else she could do for me and hung up. I'm not at all kidding. I know better than to let anger show when dealing with CS and I had maintained a calm demeanor during the call. It's a good thing no one was around when she hung up on me. When my blood pressure returned to normal, I decided to call CS again figuring that I would get a different person. Against all odds, I got the exact same person who gave me the exact same answer and again hung up on me. It's not convenient for me to move my belongings right now, but rest assured ... when I have removed my belongings from their property, I'll NEVER use this company again and I have already spread this story around to every person that has mentioned needing storage. My storage facility was bought by Public Storage and it has been a terrible experience. The company forces you to buy their insurance to be able to sign your rental agreement, saying 'it's free for 30 days! You can cancel!" This is a marketing trick because most people will forget to cancel. I already have insurance that covers the unit, but still was forced to agree to their insurance. The customer service people were totally not helpful, some were rude. I will move to another storage facility as soon as I'm able to. read more

The fees really add on another $50 to $100 to anything they quote. That's how it has been so far, but to be fair, I haven't been a customer of their's very long. I will update as needed. The storage area is fine. with lights that turn off with timers and there doesn't seem to be a problem with the temperature, etc. Butler Road is hard to find and is tucked behind a gas station on a hill. They lured me in with a special on a 5'x10' unti that was going to be 1/2 off, but when I got there, it had a gigantic duct going through it! that is- taking up space I was going to be paying for. Then they wouldn't switch it. There are a bunch of apartments with access to the storage and some dog that always barks at you when you're inside. That isn't bad, but it feels sketchy. read more

This place literally poisoned my stuff with mold. I don't even know what (if anything) I'll be able to keep. I used the recommended humidity control can in the unit but obviously that can't remove moisture from 1000's of SF of hot humid air. I'm so disappointed. Also they dgaf about maintenance. Never had an issue with these guys. I only went there through work. As a heads up, if your boss is not good with paying his bills on time, and you're the "hard worker" who always goes to the storage unit... expect them to not let you in, no matter how much you plead. Who cares if you just spent a few hours of your day moving furniture for your boss. Day wasted. Other than that, great facility and easily navigated, so you won't get lost trying to find your unit. read more

I have been a customer of Public Storage for less than a month, and I would say they have the worst customer service and the worst online management system I have ever encountered. They bought out the EZ Storage facility I guess, where I have had at least one unit for almost 11 years now. I have to units that were set up on autopay. Trying to deal with Public Storage to pay my bill, set up new accounts, and GET BOTH MY UNITS ON ONE ACCOUNT has been a time-eating nightmare so far. Caveat emptor! Renters beware! My wife and I paid dutifully every month for over three years our rent, believing that our valuable possessions were being taken care of. We were suddenly socked to discover that our storage was infested with rats. We are not speaking about a few rats passing by, but a breeding ground. I can provide pictures to anyone interested to see the extent of the infestation. There was rat poop and urine all over our possessions, even those high above ground. We were forced to discard most of them. Most disappointing of all was that the storage administrators refused to take responsibility for this, saying we should deal with the insurance company. I have seldom encountered a business than is so irresponsible in dealing fairly. While we paid dutifully every month, they failed to their responsibility of taking due care of our property or to respond to the damages that were the result of their negligence. read more

Do NOT rent space here. The property manager is absent and does not communicate. The building is leaky. Water is coming into the units. Amazingly, the staff called to let me know water was found "near" my unit but they would inspect and call me back. They never called. By the time I got to the unit, water was in the unit, my dining room table was sitting in water, some boxes were wet, and the staff had allowed the water to continue to sit there, with my items sitting in it, waiting for a roofer to arrive - even though they knew the roofer could not get there for several days. The property manager was supposed to call me several times and only returned my call after I left a message suggesting I was going to contact a lawyer. read more

The morning before I needed to find a storage unit, I reserved my unit online and then received a call shortly after from the Christen, site manager, to confirm and schedule my arrival. I got there and Kristen was very helpful with all my paperwork and it was a breeze. She even let my movers start moving in as I finished my paperwork. Kristen was great. The only challenge at this property is parking personal cars or trucks is limited as it's in an off street and other resident/business cars are parked on the street so navigating a moving truck can be tricky if you are not a skilled truck driver. The space itself was fine, but it was unusual in that it had two doors. They tried to convince me to purchase two of their ridiculously expensive locks. I was able to resist, but I did have to agree to one of those: Beware, and try to find someone who can sell you one. The worst problem was the incompetence and disorganization of the manager. It was mostly laughable, although she did try to lock me out of the facility for thinking, incorrectly, that I hadn't paid when I actually had. read more

Stay away from this company! I had a confirmed reservation for a 5'x5' space, at the rate of $25 for the first month, then $94 per month thereafter. The company emailed me the confirmation and called me 3 times to confirm that I would be there. I offered to pay for the space by cc over the phone but they said I had to be there in person and I live 200 miles away, so I scheduled an appt to pay for and take the space. The final call to confirm was the day before my appointment. The company rep assured me the space would be waiting and I asked if I could show up early if I got into town early. He said I could. I ended up showing up 4 1/2 hours before my appointment. Good, right? Wrong. The person at the desk said there was no 5'x5' space available, that I would have to take a larger space at $134 per month. I said no way, showed him my emailed confirmation and he refused to honor it. I wasted 1/2 hour arguing with him, to no avail. I then went around the corner and rented from Extra Space Storage on River Road - they were very nice and accommodating. This company is guilty of BAIT & SWITCH tactics - avoid Public Storage! read more
