Overall I am satisfied with the space and the stuffing. Check in was fast, I got on board very next 10 minutes. Employee offered me her help and introduce me to the storage room. There was a carpet on the floors: I found it very efficient and it gave me a sense of comfort and confidence. They have everything I need, the locker was in: brand new. One minus: the restroom is on the first floor by the office. However, from my past experience, that was the normal practice. There was some doors needed a restoration, but cmon - that's an storage space. They have a free (for the clients) covered garage to unload stuff and a outside parking. What's good is that just a one block away is the police station, so the Neighborhood is safe. I had some concerns about the clients and restroom with no toilet paper, but it was fixed. i moved out after 2 or 3 years since their price went up without notifying me and i found way cheaper at close storage. i already. told them that i will move out 3 days after my monthly contract and they said they will calculate pro-rated for those days and they will refund me the remaining, now i called them to check my status, they said they won't refund me anything and they didn't transfer me to location to talk to store manager, this is the worse service i've seen in my life read more

The good reviews here are from years ago I notice. Currently the place is subject to (getting intolerable) elevator outages. Every month they fail and no-one comes to fix them sometimes for days. If you have heavy material to move up and down, look elsewhere. Because you'll arrive back at night and have to find somewhere else to put your stuff. Then you'll have to deal with petulant staff, if you are lucky enough to find one to talk to. Staff that do not provide solutions. Just customer dis-service. They got a star for location. But for value and service? Big fat zero. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. I would give them zero stars if Yelp would let me. TLDR: I had thousands of dollars worth of camera equipment stolen from my unit, they are super slow to respond customer-service-wise, and they raise the rent FREQUENTLY and in HUGE amounts (like at least 30% each time, practically every few months). The price may seem reasonable when you first sign up but it will NOT stay that way. For those who want the full story: I began renting from them in February or March or 2021, I think I was paying something like $85/month. By the time I moved my stuff out in December 2023, I was paying nearly $200/month for the same unit. That's more than double the price in less than two years. Now let's get to the theft. I noticed a bag of camera equipment missing, so I called them. I had tried calling them in the past for other reasons and let me say this: they never once answered their phone. I think I left a few voicemails for them and after a few WEEKS they emailed me a list of times I had accessed my unit, which was one of the things I asked for but only one of the things. That list was also missing one time I knew I had accessed my unit. I had to ask them like 3 more times about security footage before they even responded to that request, and their response was that they only keep security footage for 28 days. 28 days is NOT helpful for most people because it's a storage facility - most people are probably not accessing their unit every month. When I noticed my stuff missing, I think it had been 3 months since I had been there, so even if they had responded right away, that security footage might not have helped. But it also took at least 28 days to even get that answer so at that point the security footage was useless. It's completely asinine for a storage facility to claim they have good security and only keep the footage for 28 days. As near as I can tell, someone climbed into my unit from above - many of the units have bars across the front at the top so a body couldn't fit but mine had fewer bars and I believe the unit next to mine had like none - and there's nothing to stop someone from climbing over the sides if they can get to one unit because the sides are not protected. The reason I suspect this is what happened is because there was an office chair in my unit and there were footprints on it, which there were not when I put the chair into storage in the first place. But basically, they suck, they raise the rent like crazy, they are completely unhelpful and don't have good security. If you MUST rent from them for some reason, make sure that your unit and every unit around you is secured to the ceiling. read more

The unit I received has a large pylon in the middle, minimizing the space I'm paying for and that is advertised. Additionally, the store level employees are rude and have hung up on me when I called about a rate increase. On that note, they have every 5-6 months taken a $50 rate increase when I'm already paying $200 / per month, and for no reason (no rent for them has increased, I'm not getting any better service or space than I was) I'm just continuing to receive the same product at a much higher price. They take advantage of the high barrier there is to end your contract and move elsewhere. When you call their corporate phone number there is no option for customer service within the phone tree. I strongly advised against this company and specifically this location. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General as the other consumer did several posts below, and am following this up with a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. read more

We have maintained storage unit(s) at this facility for years, since about the time it was opened, and previously overlooked the access issues at this location due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Sadly, we are no longer able to do that. Of the three doors to the loading bays, only one is useable. The other two are almost consistently broken. One has been broken so long it's boarded on the inside. This excludes use of the bay with the loading dock and leaves only the center bay for loading & unloading. Two to four cars can usually maneuver around each other in the center bay garage, but with only one door, you can get stuck inside unless you can find the owners of the other vehicles and ask them to move when you want to leave. If a moving truck is in there, you can't get in at all. We've seen days when there were multiple moving trucks and you can't even get near the place, let alone inside. There are too few carts, as well, so we've found it's not unusual to arrive when others are there and be unable to use a cart to move things in and out. Sometimes there's a line for carts. We waited almost an hour for our turn last Friday. While waiting, we directed traffic on the jammed street and helped people navigate in and out of the single congested bay. Street traffic on the street was blocked by vans having to load outside and cars trying to get in. The lot up the hill was also congested, its driveway blocked by folks trying to get in/out, and parked cars lined the curbs, making it difficult to navigate the street. It was a mess, and at no time did anyone from the facility come out to help or mitigate the traffic conditions. The parking lot is detached from the facility, located just up the block, but it's an uphill climb. Who wants to rent a storage unit then have to slog heavy & bulky items up a hill to a lot? You're making multiple trips back and forth, carrying everything by hand if you can't get a cart, sometimes in the rain or snow. We've done it. It's not fun. There's street parking, but in our experience it's usually full. Parking police also ticket on that block and we have been ticketed while trying to load our car at the curb because there was no access to the bays. The saving grace of this challenging facility has always been the lovely staff. But they have gradually left, and recently a new manager was added and we had an awful experience with him. The fees keep rising, access keeps dwindling, and now the customer service has bottomed out, too. So, as the bad has now far outweighed the good, we're in the process of moving to another storage facility this week. Update: We moved out and it was a circus. On a Friday--not a weekend--the conditions described above were all in play at once. Super glad we never have to go back! read more

We selected this CubeSmart location as it is very convenient to our house, but I would say it's worth driving out of your way for as they provide a great level of service. Friendly staff, an easy move-in process, competetive prices (pro tip: paying for a year in advance will get you a free month and lock in rates), clean, well-maintained facilities and 24-hour access. I'm a fan of the oldies/80s mixes played on the loud speakers but have also seen fellow cube-residents bringing their own stereos when they are moving in/out :). We have been using this facility for a year and have never had a less than pleasant experience. Highly recommended! read more

CubeSmart Self Storage (Florida Ave) price-gouged me during the pandemic and state of emergency and is continuing their practices. It was so bad that my unit which cost me in the low 200's/month went up to $380 during the pandemic. Because I couldn't afford paying $400 a month on a storage unit, I moved to a new unit in December of 2022. On April 20, 2023, I received a notice that there would be a 22% rate increase on my new unit less than 5 months after I moved in. I called the store to talk to the manager about the outrageous increase (industry standard is a 10-15% rate increase after 9 months) and ask if we could negotiate on the rental increase. Albert, the manager, said that he wouldn't and tried to gaslight me that an increase more than the industry standard after only 5 months was totally normal. However, what he ended up revealing to me was that he "knew" I had moved units and had been paying much more and that he was going to hike my rent up until I was back to the maximum rate possible ASAP. I told him that I was filing a complaint with the attorney general of DC (which I have just submitted) and disclose to them that I was not only price-gouged during the pandemic and the state of emergency by CubeSmart (and Albert) but that he was increasing the rate outrageously on me again now. I plan on taking this as far as it needs to go legally to hold Cubesmart and the manager responsible for their greed, particularly with respect to the price-gouging during the state of emergency. I also plan on doing what needs to be done legally to shut down the Wild West of storage units when it comes to outrageous rate increases. This is an industry that needs to be regulated ASAP. One other thing I mentioned to him is that I walked past the building a month ago and there was a fire next to the building on the far left side. I went into the building and told the manager at that time and he grabbed a fire extinguisher which was right next to his desk and went and put out the fire. I realized that there was evidence of multiple previous "extinguishments". This Manager is aware that fires are occurring right next to the building and "handling" it with a fire extinguisher next to his desk (during office hours). OUTRAGEOUS! I will repeat again that industry standard for rate increases of storage units is 10-15% every 9 months. Saying that you need to increase your rates "from time to time" while increasing the rate by 22% 5 months after I move into a storage unit is deceptive. read more

This REALLY is as good as it gets. We've rented from places in NYC, Washington state, and throughout D.C., and I have never had such an easy, friendly, clear, and positive experience. Leah, Ana, and Joseph have gone out of their way to make moving (which is the worst thing in the world) utterly seamless and stress-free. And the facilities are incredibly clean and new, down to the small fans posted in each hallway to ensure it doesn't get uncomfortable when you're moving heavy things. I'm actually sitting here in their offices right now waiting for my shipment to come, and they're not just putting up with me camping in their spaces but offering me water and coffee to make it better. Not going to lie - CubeSmart has made me want to move simply because it's so easy. And that's really amazing. read more

I need to rent storage space for a move from California to Washington DC, and I want to ship boxes prior to the move. I need a storage facility to receive the boxes and take them to my storage unit (not all storage companies provide this service). After doing some research, I realized that CubeSmart offered this service and was the best option. Their reviews are stellar. When I called, I had a ton of questions. Indoor, secure, air conditioned storage units, and incredibly friendly staff. I rented a storage unit here for two months to keep my belongings while I searched for a new apartment out of state and had no problems whatsoever. Shanee is a rockstar and is the main reason my experience here was so wonderful. They have a garage where you can leave your car while you access your unit and several dollies/carts to help move your things up and down the elevator that requires you to dial in your access code every time you want to go up to your unit. It was exactly what I needed and such a pleasure interacting with all of the staff, but especially Shanee! read more
