I had had a great experience with them just last year when I last moved and knew they'd be able to get the job done again. My project was immediately responded to and they were able to help me move two weeks later on their soonest available date. The three movers, Pat, Renaldo, and Kevin were incredible. Communication leading up to the move and theday of was great. They were able to move all my large furniture within 2 hours. Everything was wrapped carefully and efficiently. They were kind and thoughtful, helping me make adjustments to the furniture layout once we got to the destination. Their positivity through one of the hardest situations I've ever gone through was much-needed and made me feel confident in entering this next chapter. I even had a last minute change to the destination (originally everything was going into storage but I ended up finding an apartment just in time), and the professionalism and patience from the entire Bookstore team through this change was excellent. Pricing was reasonable yet again and came out to about $500 (excluding tip) for the truck fee and moving of 16 large items. Thank you Bookstore Movers for helping me when I needed it most!

We were disappointed with our recent experience with Bookstore Movers. The crew was polite, but the…read moremove felt much slower and less efficient than it should have been. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

None of my items broke in transit, and all furniture and fragile items were wrapped before loading into the truck. Did I mention they're quick? My one bedroom move (within DC) only took 3 hours. This is my second time using Anytime Movers. They were the most reasonably priced movers that I…read morecould find. They showed up on time, brought all their own packaging equipment which is huge, and were efficient in the move. I was charged a bit more than I was expecting from the quote, so that is why it's only 4 stars. But comparatively, it is much cheaper than a majority of the other movers in the DMV. My couch wouldn't fit up the stairs to my place and they were willing to hold the couch at their warehouse until I figured out what to do with it, which I very much appreciate. I didn't need it in the end but it was great that they offered.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

The items were mainly consolidated into main areas, anticipating that it would make it easier for the moving crew to quickly pack and move the items to the trailer. They were here for over 9 hours, packed the truck half full vertically, but filled the 28 foot horizontally. This is something I would expect from college kids who have zero experience as you get charged every foot horizontally you take up in cross country moves. So now, not only are we out $2300 for these movers, we are out an extra 3k because they used twice the amount of space that was actually needed if they had done it correctly. Military and families and federal employees- go anywhere else. This was an absolute disaster.

They meticulously maneuvered everything into our unit and got it all to fit! Because of this, they saved us from having to pay more money for a larger unit. We honestly had a good experience from start to finish and are greatly appreciative for their assistance. Plus, their pricing was incredibly reasonable. We will definitely be using them again.

While the crew arrived on time, there were only three movers instead of the four that were expected. I was then charged an additional $120 for an extra hour. One of the movers openly admitted that he had been out all night and was exhausted, which was evident in his performance throughout the move. The most frustrating part is that I moved into a brand-new construction home, and the movers caused significant damage. They put holes in my walls and scratched my stairs. I understand that minor scuffs can happen during a move, but these were deep gashes and holes that require repair. Before the crew left, I brought the damage to the attention of the lead mover. He told me not to worry and said I could file a claim using the claim number on my receipt. Since then, I have called multiple times and have not received a single callback. The only person I have been able to reach says she is in sales and cannot help me. No one has contacted me, and no repairs have been made. The lack of accountability and customer service has been extremely disappointing. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend District Relocators and would strongly advise others to consider a different moving company

We called Paul to help us move a single sofa 3 miles- from Rossalyn to G'town. $150. Good: We were able to schedule the job with 24hrs notice. It started to rain and they carried the sofa out to the truck uncovered and was not covered in the truck during transport. Maybe their focus is on big moves. In the past, I have done a few corporate (business) moves and have a high level of expectation from professional movers. Joe Brown exceeded every expectation I had. Moving is usually very stressful for me as I am a perfectionist, but Joe and his men made the entire process incredibly smooth and worry-free. They were extremely professional, and worked quickly without cutting corners. Joe (the owner) was on the property the entire time (as he promised) and he worked alongside his men. What impressed me most was how carefully they handled everything, especially my numerous, VERY heavy and ornate pieces of Victorian furniture. Every piece of furniture and every box was treated like it was their own. They wrapped and protected items properly, loaded everything securely, and they did not damage a single thing during the move. Additionally, the entire team was friendly, extremely respectful, and clearly very experienced. They communicated well with me and with each other as a team, stayed organized, and kept everything moving efficiently from start to finish. They truly care about doing the job correctly and making their customers happy. They moved me into my elderly mother's occupied house (not an easy task) and were also very respectful of her furnishings and her wishes. Joe has a very pleasant and calming demeanor and is very responsive to email and texts during the process. He provided me with a written estimate and a written "will not exceed amount" well ahead of the move and stuck to his estimate. His business style is rather informal compared to the big, interstate van lines, which frankly worried me a little, but there was nothing to be concerned about at all. Everything went exactly as planned. If you are looking for a moving company that is reliable, hardworking, and genuinely committed to excellent service, Brown's Moving Service is the one to use. I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
