So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

I also thought the service was a good value for the level of work they provided. What I especially appreciated was that they worked with me to find a solution when my plans changed. At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

So I paid DOUBLE what I was expecting, which was already more than what was quoted cause I was adding a little buffer, but ended up tipping a whole additional person because I'm not a jerk. The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. I'm not even cheap but I hate being taken for a fool, and it turned out to be just that. That's what I get what I get for using hourly movers for the first time, never again. A slow work scam, exactly what I was worried about, but like an idiot I bought into the reassurances Karen gave me but they truly let her down. I hope she knows they're having her selling lies.

He was able to get his brother to help and acquire another large truck so that we were able to stay on schedule. The entire move was incredible. The movers wrapped everything incredibly well including many large paintings etc. they didn't damage the house we left or the house we moved to or even 1 piece of our furniture! It was very hard to believe actually with the volume and size/weight of many of the items. The first major issue was that the company did not show up on my originally scheduled moving date. I had already rented a U-Haul truck specifically for that day, and because they failed to honor the appointment, I lost money on the truck rental and had to rearrange my entire schedule and reschedule the move. When the movers finally arrived on the rescheduled date, the experience was far from efficient. One of the movers, John, spent a considerable amount of time standing around and working very slowly. Even his own coworker commented about the pace, which was frustrating because I was paying for the time. Despite these issues, I intended to pay the remaining balance. However, everything changed when their manager, Christy, contacted me regarding the balance. I explained that I was at the gym and then spending time with my children and would get back to her. Instead of respecting that, she continued to pressure me to make the payment immediately, gave me a deadline of 7:00 PM, and threatened to send the balance to collections. There was no acknowledgment of the inconvenience or financial loss their company had already caused me. There was no apology for missing the original moving date or any attempt to resolve the service issues. Instead, the conversation immediately turned into threats over a $213 balance. As a repeat customer, I found that level of customer service completely unacceptable. Businesses make mistakes, and I understand that. What matters is how they treat their customers afterward. Unfortunately, I was met with pressure, threats, and a complete lack of empathy rather than professionalism. After we arrive at the base at 1:30 one of the movers can't be escorted on because he doesnt have an ID. We wait 2 and half hours for another mover who also can't get on the base. I ask for the remaining driver to drive in base and the 2 of us can unload the truck but he can't drive the truck for some reason and I'm not going to drive a vehicle I have. o insurance or license to drive on base. When I called the manager BK he said "I have a bunch of other calls and don't have time for this right now." and then he hung up. Despite telling them that I had items in two storage units as well as a single-family home, they failed to adequately staff my move, resulting in time wasted at the storage facility for another truck to show up and insufficient personnel to unload the trucks at my new location. The whole move lasted well into the night because they hadn't adequately resourced my move. Regarding the damage to my furniture, I was told I would be reimbursed a certain amount, and I agreed. It was a fair offer. Then I got another written offer that was significantly below what was originally offered to me. The amount that was supposed to be reimbursed to me? Never received. As I unpack more boxes, I'm finding more damage and shoddy packing. I can no longer recommend this company.
