After making a reservation we filled out the online "express check in form". We arrived early before opening and listened to an extremely loud argument and fight between two women who were staff. Once one of these women opened the door ,immediately she was rude and told us to "wait"! The "manager" came out after 5 minutes and proceeded to tell us we had "no reservation"! We tried to show her the reservation and she ignored us and tried to fight with people behind us. We insisted we were in a hurry and she replied..."good luck with that!". We started to fill out the questionnaire online in the office and we refused the optional insurance. The lady said we needed to show her our insurance card and policy. We had a commercial driver and insurance so no need for theirs. She said she would not rent to us. The story goes on and on but we got the van and called Uhaul to return to another location near by. We returned it that evening to another location. The lady at the original location called us the next morning demanding and screaming "where's my van!?". We told her we returned the truck to another location and she tried to charge our card triple cost. She started using profanity and saying she was going to "f******g call the police!". We warned our bank and went higher up the chain with formal complaints. We are also writing Uhaul corporate and the corporate storage rental company! Second- The cargo van I rented smelled like an old tire. The rubber smell was so overwhelming that I could not ride without the windows down to keep from choking/suffocating. Third- The woman who helped me was not polite, hard to communicate with, and was very confrontational. She showed up to work 20 minutes late to find me waiting for service. She then acted like i was inconveniencing her. She later got mad because she had to come unlock the door to let me in so that i may turn in my keys 30 minutes before her listed closing time. I will NEVER be a returning customer to this location. I was absolutely appalled by the poor customer service, state of disrepair in the office and equipment, and the overall attitude and communication of the attendant.

I booked a storage unit on Saturday. I completed the payment before 3:05 pm the same day. Afterwards, I tried calling multiple times before 5:00 pm, but every time I reached a message saying they were out of office. On Sunday at 9:30 pm, I arrived with a U-Haul truck and could not get inside the unit. I used their video assistant, and a representative named Lisa gave me a code. She also told me the building locks at 10:00 pm for security purposes, which meant I had only 30 minutes to unload. I got inside the building, but the code did not work for the elevator. When I called back, they told me my unit might actually be in the Annex building at 300 Mill St.--even though my welcome email clearly listed 223 Mill St, Vienna, VA 22180. At the Annex building, the first thing I noticed was the urine smell and mouse traps. The old carts barely fit through the single-door entrance. When I reached my unit, there were mouse droppings inside (I have photo proof). As we were unloading our last load, the building locked at 10:00 pm, leaving half of my belongings trapped inside a rodent-infested unit with the door open. Lisa had reassured me not to rush and said I could call back to get help after 10:00 pm--but nobody answered despite my repeated calls for 20 minutes. By then, I was completely overwhelmed. This was one of the most dreadful experiences I have ever had with a company. Stay away!

Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. The lady working the front desk was very nice and did a good job juggling 3 different customers who all got there about the same time. They ask you to check in using a QR code and your phone. It took a few minutes to complete- like any new automated process the first time you use it. Which explains why the lady was juggling 3 customers at the same time. She did a good job juggling to help all 3 of us and get us in our vehicles. Our van was clean and in good condition. The return was efficient. Because I wanted a receipt before leaving, I ended up dealing with two other employees. Both were pleasant and helpful. Did the QR code routine again to check out and get a receipt. This involved entering the odometer miles, the gas tank level, and taking I lost count but I think it was 6 pictures of the vehicle. Took a few minutes. But the peace of mind in having a final receipt was worth it. Just wanted to share a recent, positive experience.
