The people at the desk are quite nice and knowledgeable but my rate for my unit has more than doubled in a year of being there. When I look online it's still shows at the original price so I'm unsure why my rate has increased so drastically. Overall they keep your stuff safe, it's clean, there's carts for you to use among other things such as occasional cases of water on hot days for people moving stuff in and out. Where to start! Manager is never available on site/office always closed. Calls are not returned. For three weeks the bathroom has been out of order. Carts are hard to find if available at all. Bluetooth to open loading dock's small door hardly ever works. Snow was not removed from drive up ramp two days after recent storm. When I first rented almost three years ago it was much better. Rates increase nonetheless. Last time they did that I simply rented a new sharply discounted space and moved all.my stuff. But how stupid is that? Why couldn't I have stayed where I was? Now, if I stay there I'm going to have to go through the same thing again next month. Makes no sense as long as they have excess units to rent! read more

This facility is dirty, always lacking staff at the office and you can never find a cart. This is the worst storage facility we have used in decades. We lived in in May 2023 and are leaving asap (Jan 2024). They raised our rent by 35% 6 months in. We also have never had a rent in increase in under a year. When we asked for an adjustment it was denied. Also have never had that happen! They don't care about service. The rep said that they are in high demand and will fill the spot quickly regardless. This increase doesn't match their advertised prices. They give one price to new customers to get you in, then increase rates significantly. Actively looking for a better run storage facility. Public Storage aggressively misleads its customers. Read the fine print and understand that they are allowed to raise your rent to any price after a 6 month period. I have a storage space at this location and I referred my cousin who also wanted a storage space . She went online and found a 50% off offer but when she went to complete her paperwork , the attendant said she doesn't qualify to get that rate because I have a space there . I used Public Storage on Old Meadow Road in McLean in 2017 -2018 and the management was not good. In fact the staff in the office was rude and incompetent. In 2022 the new manager, Rashid goes above and beyond to help. We misplaced our key to the storage unit and Rashid called the locksmith and scheduled him to come as soon as possible. He is professional, helpful and solution oriented. WAY better service than in the past from this storage facility!!! read more

I was satisfied with Public Storage and it was very efficient to get signed in. However when I called in a different state to rent another storage unit, the one dollar first month policy was not available in that location, there were upfront application fees and then after we hung up, the eApplication said I was required to have insurance. Yet another fee -- and it was not mentioned ahead of time. Don't like surprises! read more

I was surprised that the whole process was online and smooth. I have used Public Storage before but not this location 5 minutes from the office. I was shocked at the cleanliness of this location and the attention to detail. I like the quality doors, access to a loading dock and app control. I spent over 30 minutes looking for the unit. Only problem was they just gave me an address, building number and unit number. A map of the front door and unit location would have been helpful. read more

This is a reliable and well run place. My first time looking for a storage space for my car as our garage was being renovated. Easily found this clean and safe 10x30' drive-up storage space online. The best experience was with Kevin, the property manager. Kevin was super efficient, courteous, and helpful. He showed me around, cleaned out the little leaves and debris leftover in the garage, and assured me he would keep an eye on my car. I'm using his service for a month this time and will return in the future if I need to rent another spot for my stuff. read more

I had been renting a unit at the Merrifield location for three years and recently switched to this Tyson's Corner location because it would literally cut my rent in half for the same size unit. That's something to be aware of with Public Storage...they tend to raise rates on you. The experience was alright I guess, I don't know, it just had this aura of "sketchiness" to it. Maybe it was in my head because I read all the negative reviews on here. But, I came prepared for the up-sells and there was no way in heck I was buying their insurance, and I didn't. IT IS NOT REQUIRED, although they make you think it is. The way they do billing is a bit wonky and they can't produce documents that show the transactions that really went down, which if you are a legitimate business and can't do that, what in the world?!? I certainly will never sign up for any automatic payments through them, that's for dang sure. All in all, I know I won't really have to deal with them going forward and the things I am storing aren't expensive valuables to lose sleep over. So, I'm sure it will be fine. read more

I selected this storage unit because it had the best reviews on Yelp and I'm glad I did. Zia and Aida were wonderful to work with. I couldn't decide which unit size I wanted and Zia was very patient to show me 3 different sizes and finally I decided on the 10x20. Aida did the paperwork and it was thorough and quick, explaining everything in detail. The facility is clean and the location is safe. I'll start this by saying my 3 stars isn't because of customer service at the Tysons location. The customer service was great. Everyone is always kind and professional in all my interactions. When I relocated to NYC and the movers I had were terrible they helped me to finish packing the unit. My 3 stars is due to the price increase in one year of over $100.00. This is probably the first time I've had to use any storage for longer than a few months, however this is my case and my lesson learned and hopefully it will help those that may have to store for longer term due to unforeseen circumstances like parents falling ill. I had to move all of my mothers belongings into storage and Public Storage easily accommodated with the cheapest price in town or so I assumed. The customer service was stellar. However, within 3-6 months, I received an email that the price was going up. I called the McLean location and they directed me to corporate. The person I encountered at corporate was so rude that I thought really chick? I didn't think I dialed a tow company where its always guaranteed rudeness or even DMV the twilight zone. She stated prices go up and its in the contract and hung up. So there you have it. Through that long ass piece of paper they make you sign, they raise their rates when they feel like it, hence within a year, my rates went from $221 a month to $322. Blank face stare. At this point, its about time for me to get my emotional feelings in order and start clearing out that rental unit. If Public Storage has their way, I'll be up to a $1,000 a month by 2020. Make sure to ask about their mysterious rate changes. read more

The Old Meadow Road Public Storage has very nice facilities, a convenient location, and is tidy and well kept-up. For my busiest days, the 3-bay loading dock was a huge convenience. Other days, the front door or one of the two back doors (inside the gated compound) were enough. The staff, Zia and Aida, are friendly and easy to work with. Details that really matter when you're storing good furniture or important records: the roof does not leak anywhere, at all. Winter and summer, the indoor temperature is in a comfortable room-temperature-ish narrow range. There are enough carts. The bathroom works and is clean. There are many different sizes of units, from really small to surprisingly big. (We needed BIG). Life has a way of giving you 99 problems, but storing a household of stuff here, the storage experience wasn't one. read more

I would highly recommend this location! FYI to anyone thats new to renting a unit, just budget in the fact that you require insurance for the unit (which this location can offer) and you buy a lock with the unit (which you get to keep and reuse in the future, if needed). Recently needed to get some additional storage space and shopped around to a few other companies before deciding on this Company and location. It's very easy to get in and out of even with larger box trucks. The units are climate controlled and there are carts posted near most doors to aid you in moving things into your unit. Zia was very friendly and had all of my paper work ready for me when I arrived and there was very little waiting and no hassles. He showed me the unit and explained the gate system and we were in and out of there in less than 30 minutes with keys and gate codes in hand. Great customer service and very reasonable prices. I have known him many years (at this Public Storage location) and he is the best property manager they have ever had there. After six months they increased the price by 25% so I would recommend inquiring about price increases when you sign up. What's worse, about 7 months into the agreement, a billing snafu on Public Storage's site resulted in my Auto Pay suddenly being turned off. It was nearly impossible to get someone on the phone who could help explain what had occurred. When I finally spoke with the regional manager Elena, she was extremely helpful in straightening things out but the following month the Auto Pay was still off and I was charged a late fee of $24 after Elena restored my Auto Pay. She refused to credit me the $24 saying she had removed the charges the previous month! (Did I mention it was a billing snafu on their end? My credit card company stated on three separate calls that they did not deny the charges.) I would not recommend this facility unless you have time to go into the store and pay cash each month. Otherwise, if you are a person with a 9-5 job who must rely on automated payments working once configured, then look elsewhere. read more

Watch out for the billing and check your receipt carefully. My receipt had two different amounts due and Aida could not explained to me why there were two prices. No one at customer service seemed to think a receipt indicating that one owes two different amounts was a problem except for me. The recipe and questions over just how much I was going to have to pay in future months forced me to cancel and to find another storage company. Also when Aida tried to "refund" my charge of $60 for the first month that receipt only refunded me $27. Something is seriously wrong with their accounting/billing system. read more
