I was a little nervous about moving because this would be my first time using movers. I also needed movers who would move both mine and my fiancés apartment furniture. I was in contact with Mia throughout the entire process and she answered all my questions. It was a 3 man crew who arrived 15 min. earlier than the scheduled arrival window. They were super quick and efficient with moving all my boxes, disassembling my furniture, and wrapping my larger furniture with blankets. They then went to my fiancés apartment and was able to load everything from his place as well and get to our new apartment with all of our stuff. I did lose my step ladder and broom during the move but after calling the next day they were able to find and bring it that day. I was super appreciative of this. I would highly recommend using this company and would use in the future!

Aside from damaging…read moreseveral pieces of furniture and claiming it was like that before the move (it wasn't; I keep my furniture in excellent condition), the packing experience was terrible. They took original, painted artwork and put it in a box with other framed pictures and metal pictures without protective wrapping. Despite telling them that I had items in two storage units as well as a single-family home, they failed to adequately staff my move, resulting in time wasted at the storage facility for another truck to show up and insufficient personnel to unload the trucks at my new location. The whole move lasted well into the night because they hadn't adequately resourced my move. Regarding the damage to my furniture, I was told I would be reimbursed a certain amount, and I agreed. It was a fair offer. Then I got another written offer that was significantly below what was originally offered to me. The amount that was supposed to be reimbursed to me? Never received. As I unpack more boxes, I'm finding more damage and shoddy packing. I can no longer recommend this company.

However, my experience with Extra Space Storage was different. This place was absolutely amazing and it will now be my go to storage in the DMV area. First off, due to COVID, I had to move in a rush, and they gracefully set me up with a nice, temperature controlled unit at a discounted rate. They worked with me as I was going out of state and provided updates and checkins periodically to ensure that I was happy with the service I was providing. On the day I finally moved back to Virginia and came back for my things, the manager Kyrah made sure that I was in the absolute best hands. I lost my key and I was sweating it, but she was so nice about it! She cut my lock off and helped me retrieve my things all while being so kind, friendly and above all else extremely professional. Y'all need to give her a raise. If you are in search of a wonderful storage unit you should definitely check this place out! It is definitely worth the trek even if you live in Arlington or DC!

Kyrah was late to open the office on the first day and then incredibly rude when we asked questions about the move-in process - raising their voice, interrupting us, very withholding of information. When we tried to return to the storage unit to move something a few days later, Kyrah refused to let us into the building claiming we had a balance of $241 (we prepaid for three months - no balance was owed). Finally, after escalating to the higher-ups Kyrah did us a "favor" by "adjusting" the "issue." Oh, and the gate is broken. This place is not secure.

I also thought the service was a good value for the level of work they provided. What I especially appreciated was that they worked with me to find a solution when my plans changed. At one point, I was considering storing my belongings at their warehouse for less than a week. Rather than simply taking the additional business, they told me it did not make sense to move everything from the original location into warehouse storage for such a short period because it would unnecessarily increase my costs. That advice was one of the reasons I ultimately decided to use PODS instead. My moving needs did change at the last minute, which made the overall move more expensive than I had originally planned, but that was because of the changing logistics, not because they were trying to increase the price. I really appreciated that they were focused on helping me find the most practical and cost-effective solution. I would absolutely recommend them.

TERRIBLE business. SO mad at myself for not knowing better.*** I guess I should have come to Yelp before booking. Looks like I am not the only one, don't know if that makes me feel better or worse. When I called Karen was awesome and I was so excited for the service. Silly me. I have moved 10 times before this in as many years. This is BY FAR the worst experience I have had. I KNOW how long it takes to move my place. Not only did this take more than TWICE as long with allegedly a whole other person, they brought a fourth unauthorized guy. And still took more than half the time. One guy sat in the truck most of the time, I have pictures, the others didn't start on my kitchen until the end, had to wait for that....later to find out when I went back to the old apartment they hadn't even finished the whole kitchen ...ran over my allotted time at the building I was moving out of, at my cost. And then they ruined my couch. So I paid DOUBLE what I was expecting, which was already more than what was quoted cause I was adding a little buffer, but ended up tipping a whole additional person because I'm not a jerk. The guys were nice but inefficient. Kept saying this is what you get with a higher quality mover, but it was not even a better experience. They were wasteful with the amount of packing supplies they used, never presented or communicated the prices of the materials they were using, which I was told was included anyway but also others I never approved or asked for. Just popped it on me in the end. Oh and then they say "we are going to adjust your time by 15 min you'll see a refund on your card" and two and a half weeks later still waiting for it to even show pending at least. But you better believe the charge was instant. I was debating sharing my feedback but was so mad I finally emailed the company. But no one had even dignified me with not even an automated response, just silence. So I come here to do something I pretty much never do. But that's how annoyed I am. Sorry but would rather recommend. Cheap Movers, way better. I used last move were a thousand times better and a QUARTER of the price. I'm not even cheap but I hate being taken for a fool, and it turned out to be just that. That's what I get what I get for using hourly movers for the first time, never again. A slow work scam, exactly what I was worried about, but like an idiot I bought into the reassurances Karen gave me but they truly let her down. I hope she knows they're having her selling lies.

I used this facility short term, between my move. The store manager, Monique, is very friendly, professional, and communicative. She always has a smile on her face and is willing to go the extra mile with customer service. After reading all the reviews, I did disregard another persons recent post from the end of 2017. I completely disagree with their opinion on the customer service. I never had an issue with someone being available. I came in at all hours during the time they were open. If you feel that they are unavailable when you need them, she was very responsive to phone calls and emails. Monique was very clear on the storage hours and the retail store front hours. The tow company confirmed that it was indeed an employee of Extra Space Storage who called and had the car towed. Thanks! There are a lot of other storage options in the area. We also told them ahead of time we're in a townhouse with 3 flights of stairs and all the main furniture we needed to move (we did all the small and fragile items ourselves since we're moving 25 mins away). No lamps or dishes or decor. Literally boxes and furniture that was too heavy for us. We moved from a 1600sqft townhouse with 3 rooms.. I don't understand.l how this was such an insurmountable task. They spent 4 hours just in our 2 upstairs bedrooms which included standard items (king bed, 2 side tables, wardrobe, small dresser, daybed and 2 unassembled cribs) a lot of which we had shrink wrapped ourselves. They stood around wondering what the best way to get things downstairs was so my husband who was very frustrated by their pace just started doing it himself and exhausting himself which was why we hired them in the first place. 4 grown men who's job it is to move things should know how to do this. Our property isn't unique for Nova so I'm not sure where the confusion came from. We have 2 small kids and did a lot of the work to get things done for them but somehow these guys stretched it to an 11 hour day because gotta make that cash, right?! Then at the end My husband asked them to wait so he could double check if anything big was left and when he noticed they left a whole big tv box on our top level, they were driving away. Didn't even listen to him and had the nerve to say they would charge him for the box if we kept it. What?!! Soo much stuff was left for us after they left and they didn't put a single piece of furniture in the right place at our new house. We said "in the corner" and they put it 2 feet from the corner...moving with kids we have exhausted ourselves beyond belief getting moved and these people made the journey not only expensive but soooo very difficult. We had to go back and move extra thigh and clean for a few hours.. very stressful. Major waste and would absolutely never recommend them. Insane amount of up charges ($400 worth of tape as though they don't buy it in bulk). Never again! Our new house is a tornado of things none of which are in the right place and I'm so upset and overwhelmed. What's hilarious is that they wrapped everything like crazy but still broke a wheel from our fridge and just said "oh". No apologies, no offer to fix it, no we can take off something for you... nothing. Then $3000 later they asked if we wanted to tip on top of this nightmare of an experience...very bold, but the only tip I can offer is "Do better. Much better"
