This place needs to be shut down!! BREAK INS, BREAK INS, BREAK INS I along with every outdoor unit was broken into for an entire week straight starting JULY 17-JULY 23 2024! You heard that right! For an entire week straight the back gate of this facility was open and exposed to the train tracks and thieves came day and day again. The on site PM knew of the gate being open and exposed and did NOTHING FOR DAYS. When I asked why the gate had been broken and un-repaired for so long the admin on site was snarky and short and said "that the fence manaince crew just never came" with no sense of empathy or concern. E.S. Also did not call me regarding my unit being broken into nor sent out any PSA EMAILS. This allowed theft to continue occur for a very long time to myself and others **REPEATEDLY** for days with out notice. I was only here for 14 days before my unit was broken into. I have not received any money back for my lost items nor compensation, or an explanation. AVOID THIS FACILITY, as others I spoke to on the property also shared that their units have been broken into as well despite being a part of the interior tower. Thieves will do what ever they need to do to get in and coincidently enough the PM team "never seems to have any cameras pointed in the direction of where looters entered in from". The quality of service that I have received since the start of the year has been deplorable to say the least. staff failed to contact me until 12 hours later after my unit was broken into. They did not initial a call to the repair department so that my unit remained opened for the remainder of the day and evening. I myself witness the theives come back and i had to chase them off. My unit was almost emptied by time it was secured. All left was broken glasses and sliced boxes. I changed units and found my new one was trashed before I took possession. For all this hell you would imagine they would give me a significant credit no they haven't. They continue to charge me over $200 for the past two months for poor, inadequate, unsecure service and unit. Moving is costly, but save yourself the headache don't move in. I have lost over $6,000 of possessions and thats what i can just count, every single box of mine was slice open with a box cutter and items was taken out, expensive China and irreplaceable vintage furniture was broken and crushed. The location is in a very bad neighborhood, the security is nonexistent and if you don't have insurance or take photos of your items, they will not be responsible or care about your things. My son-in-law had his storage broken into ( 1227) and I had my storage broken into ( 1216) I didn't realize I was missing some of my things until I moved out and a lot of my items were missing. I've been a customer for essentially a weekend & immediately returned to a totally empty storage unit just now they completely robbed me and to think back about how RUDE they wanted to be with me after I Just signed the lease and got the keys and lock and had my things to sort through and unpack, arrange. Mind you its not even the cleanest unit. So irritated and now get to waste my time pursuing legal action and recourse and calculate the value and deal with a whole ton of stuff I hadn't bargained for with no clothed to change into , they stole all my sentimental stuff. I rented two units at this location back in May 2022. My wallet was stolen and I had to get all new cards and whatnot, HOWEVER, I didn't realize that my ExtraSpace account was not updated automatically like 99% of my other autopay accounts. I would receive a monthly text message that read "Hello this is Extra Space Storage. This is a courtesy notice regarding your account. If you have any questions or concerns please text this message back or you can contact us at 510-306-8407. Thank you very much. Have a good day." This is the ONLY correspondence I received from them. I assumed that this was an automatic message that was sent out a couple of days before my payment was automatically charged. Turns out that my card was not being charged. I NEVER received any email, call, text, letter that my account was past due. Extra Space Storage charged me a $240 "pre-foreclosure" fee for this. When I called the location, I spoke to Chris, the store manager. I explained that this language was extremely misleading and in no way communicated that there was anything wrong with my account. He AGREED that the text message was misleading and deceptive. He also said that "this isn't a message I would send for this circumstance". Apparently, the store manager cannot discuss this fee, so now I am waiting for a district manager to contact me within 72 business hours. Additionally, when I rented my units, I was forced to purchase Extra Space's insurance. I later found out that my renter's insurance covers my personal belongings inside of the storage unit and that this was yet another extremely deceptive tactic to get more money out of a customer. BEWARE!!! There are so many other storage options out there that are much more transparent. read more

Scam. I moved in thinking I was getting a great deal. The location was sketchy at best, but I was saving enough to sort of justify putting my stuff there. Three months in to moving in, they raised my rent from $90 to $168... an 86.67% increase! So i decided to move out to a closer spot that at least guaranteed me a year of no rate increases. Per Extra Space policy, they will prorate your rent if you notify them of your move out prior to the billing cycle which i did via app and i received a confirmation email. However, they did not prorate my rent and refuse to refund me even though i did all the things their policy required. This place is shady. Will take to small claims just on principle. ** i just read the lease contract and it looks like im entitled to the refund per their own contract on line 27. May seek litigation for exemplary damages. read more

Well these people they reel you in with a good price for like two months afterwards they'll send you a notice talking about they are raising the price on you depending on the unit sides.. for a 5x10 like 60$ for the next size up it's like 200$ more. I was moving out the same day as these people. They talk about they are raising the price up to market value for rent your size unit in the area,when I found a cheaper storage unit right around the corner don't let this happen to you because it's a pain enough to move in to be moving out so fast especially if you have a lot of stuff read more

The worst bait and switch business model I have ever seen. They try to sell 10x20s that are actually two 10x10 and they call them multi-door. Yeah right....i got a resevation for a 10x20 I didn't call and ask for two 10x10s. They tried to sell me a 10x15 for more money. The carts dont work. They have no lighting. They suck. read more

The staff at Extra Space storage went out of their way to show me a great customer experience. I was given a tour and directions for use of the storage space. Each time I come in they are courteous and helpful. The space is clean and the temperature is good as to not damage my items. I am pleased with my space and would recommend them to others. read more

I couldn't have had a better storage experience, from beginning to end. Customer service was amazing, accommodating, and just plain awesome. Facilities are clean, safe, well lit, and perfectly climate controlled. My unit was HUGE for a very reasonable rate, and the staff worked with my through every step of the move in and move out. Since I was transitioning from west coast to east coast and slowly selling off furniture while repacking my things for cross-country transit, I spent quite a bit of time at the space, and the staff made a potentially pretty crappy situation very manageable. Having stored things at an ESS in SOMA, this was like an upgrade to first class from a middle seat in coach.
