Aja, the manager, was great. Very professional and friendly. Storage space is clean and convenient. Moving is always a hassle but Aja made it easy. At move out, found out that the price increases each year were not inflationary but predatory. In the end, I was paying nearly twice their non-promotional rate. TIP: Each year, move to a slightly bigger unit. You'll save money. As almost always, the people working there are good folks, they're just slaves to corporate greed. After posting a review about their predatory business practices, was contacted by corporate goon (hi TJ!) who tried to gaslight me about paying $340 for a unit that is still $180 (non-promotional rate). Crystal and Diedra are amazing! First, they let me in after they were already closed to grab something. Then, I was in such a rush that I locked my keys, phone, wallet - everything - in the storage unit on accident. After I almost panicked, I went down to inquire about cutting locks off. They informed me that they cut locks by appointment only. After expressing to them what happened, they immediately wanted to do all they could to help me. I am so grateful that there was not only someone there, but that they were also willing to help me despite the fact that they were already closed for well over 30 minutes at this point. Crystal has helped me with my account on numerous occasions and her customer service is great! Very personable and professional. If it weren't for Crystal and Deidra, I would be out of luck without keys to my car, my phone, or any other option to get myself out of the situation I was in. Just arrived at this storage facility at 4:30pm. On the window, it says that i have access to the facility until 5:00pm on Sundays. When im keying in my code to access the facility, the front desk person yelled at me to come through the front door and proceeds to tell me they close at 4:30pm, although the access time on the website and on the window mentions 5:00pm. It seems this person was just ready to go home, and it's unacceptable to be on the timeframe of someone simply wanting to go home when I am paying to have access to my things. I called for a refund, and will update this review when I receive a response. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere if you value access to your valuable items that you pay for someone to watch. read more

Do NOT use this storage place. I had 2 bad incidents - i was on the top floor and one time my storage room got flooded and ruined some collectibles I had there. They were very nice about assigning me a new space and helped me clean up. But then later my new space was broken into and I had a lot of stuff stolen. Both times they said they called and left a message for me but I did not get a message either time. I discovered both incidents when I went to my space to move stuff in or organize it. The fact that the stuff was collectible and that no other spaces around me were broken into makes me think someone who works there tipped off friends what I had stored there. If you value anything you're going to store do not use this facility! read more

This has to be the worst run business ever. I moved out in November of 2020 and unfortunately was in the middle of moving 2 homes -- my fiance's and mine and lost the move out receipt. Needless to say they continued to charge me , when I called back and said I moved out ( I do have time stamped pictures and the move out truck receipt) they got belligerent with me. They refused to refund the money and the district manager "Mike" refused to believe that his people would make a mistake -- he was extremely rude and argumentative. Now I am going to small claims court and hopefully recoup some of the money I lost. If you do utilize this facility keep a copy of everything. If you have not -- do not they are unscrupulous and will rip you off any chance they get. read more

I'm begging you, for the love of all things holy, DO NOT RENT here. I had to move unexpectedly several years ago, and I lived about 3-minutes away. I moved in because it was close and reasonable. No problems. Since then, I have had to send them my rental insurance no less than probably 10 times to have them reverse the no insurance fee they charge. Their "managers" are determined to make "not receiving" your insurance coverage and additional revenue stream. When it was time to move out, the freight elevator was broken, with no ETA of fixing it. They have 1 old elevator in the front that is small. If someone takes it before you to or holds it hostage, you will literally be stuck inside a building that has no cell service and stairs of death for escape (narrow, steep, concrete) for however long it takes for them to make them give up control. On one occasion, I was personally stuck for 30-minutes on the 5th floor (because I had a knee injury, I couldn't take the stairs). On moving day, this cost me at least an extra hour of time paying my movers. My mover said their freight elevator had been broken for months. I.e., they are probably never going to get it fixed. I have been out of the unit since mid-May. I received two invoices stating my rent is late and other fees. After I spoke with the manager and sent an email to them notifying them that I would be moving out -- last month??? My items now have a great temporary home at a facility in Richmond. My unit is air controlled, has an alarm, and it has two huge modern elevators. The grounds are immaculately clean. The workers are diligent, vigilant, and it is safe. And I saved almost $100 the first month on my unit (2nd floor, not 5th). Again, please DO NOT rent there. On my move out day, at least two tenants who had just moved there were already complaining that they needed to leave. Also, 1 guy who was moving out (with me and my mover on the small elevator in the front) had to take a small trunk load at a time back and forth home. If you leave your items unmanned inside the building or outside, they will be stolen immediately. P.S. no public restroom for tenants either. read more

I went into StorQuest yesterday and was not in the greatest mood, however the positive energy that was received when I walked in by Crystal and Asia changed my mood. They were super welcoming and nice. I appreciate the kindness and customer service they provided me. This is a decrepit building next to a Tent city across from the VA clinic. Can you say G H E T T O? There are 2 elevators, but you can't use the freight elevator unless you reserve it. The other elevator is so old it has the double gate doors that you have to pull shut and lock into place. I fought with it in order to finally get out of the elevator. The call button has no light on it, and you have no idea if the elevator is actually coming. Usually it isn't because the last person to get off the elevator hasn't shut the two doors all the way. So then you hear the staff screaming over the crackly loudspeakers to shut the gate doors properly. So now you've loaded all of your stuff onto a big cart and you finally got it on the elevator. When you try to get off at the bottom level, there's a big 3' post right in front of the elevator doors requiring you to muscle the cart to the left or right. You don't have that problem with the freight elevator, mind you, but they won't let you use it after 3 pm (they're open till 6.) There's also a bathroom, but they won't let you use that either because some of the tenants are homeless and they were doing drugs in the bathroom. So yeah let's penalize everyone who pays rent for a few idiots. In fact it felt like they treated everybody that came in the place as if they were homeless. There's also no water fountain, and there's no place to wash your hands. Is that even legal? In my eyes , the rent's not cheap enough to put up with all the B.S. rules they have here. No joke, my friend had to piss in a pot in the hallway because they wouldn't let him use the bathroom. If it were me I'd have left the pot there. If you're wondering why there are so many 5-star reviews, it's because they muscle you into giving them a review when you first walk in the door. They actually tried to take our phone and put in the five star review themselves. Don't believe it. After spending a miserable afternoon at this location, and trying to get our stuff out at the end of the day I asked them, "What about those five stars you were begging for? Where's the 5 star service now?" She said, "You can take them back." Okay-- I did. read more

Worst storage facility ever! The only reason i rented here is because it is around the corner from me during our move. The elevator is tiny, uneven, and there is a giant pole in front limiting what can go in. There is a freight elevator that needs to be reserved to use. WTAF?! When i called on thursday to make an appt for saturday to use it she said just to come in and it will be opened for me. Wron! Not sure how an employee can give out such crucially wrong information but she did and absolutely f*cked me! No one will open the frieght elevator despite my atet to reserve it days ahead of time. The lady on the phone when i called today to let them know if need it soon refused to admit that any mistake was made on the employees end and f*cking hung up on me. Save yourself the trouble and go to a real storage facility in a modern building with access to what 99% of people with storage need, a decent elevator!! read more

So, I tried to call the number that you provided, and it took me to a general customer service line, and when I tried to explain to the person why I was calling, they seemed confused. And then I asked to leave a message, that she said would be forwarded, and have heard nothing back. My review is in regards to the customer service I had received not about the storage facility itself. I'm moving and that's difficult as is and with all the hiccups along the way my friend and I decided to rent a storage facility to keep our items during this process. I had called multiple facilities but due to good ratings (which I'm shocked about) and the price I decided upon giving our business to StorQuest on San Pablo. I'm a type A personality so I called MULTIPLE times leading up to yesterday (12/30) to have verbal confirmation that what I was asking for would be received. I spoke to Tawni in customer service (didn't realize the call center was in so cal). Tawni at first was helpful with answering the questions but until the day of didn't realize all her answers she was giving me was incorrect. Me: If I come in before 6pm on 12/30 can I just sign the lease and for my storage and be on my way. Tawni: YES Me: Will you guys be open on 12/1 I know it's a holiday but I just have to move my stuff in that day. Tawni: YES as long as you sign the lease you can come in and out as you please. SO. guess what I did. I come in at 5:45/:50 on 12/30 and was met by the rudest man. First off he wasn't manning the desk like he should have been, I come in and tell him the issues saying Tawni told me I can come in and sign the lease and be on my way. He looks at me, scoffs and looks at his watch and goes "nope I'm closing up now logging off my computer can't do it today" then proceeds to turn off the light while I'm still inside. His blatant rudeness and lack of customer service is appalling. And when I asked him if there was a way for him to make an exception he tells me "no, it takes 15 minutes and my computer is turned off". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Are you that lazy that you can't take 15 minutes out of your day or turn on your computer. Sorry dude hate to break it to you laziness doesn't prevail in the workforce. After that debacle I called Tawni to let her know what happened, she said no worries she is sending a manager my way to open up the facilities and he will be there in 20 minutes. I called back when 20 minutes passed and she said "oh if he said he's on his way he's on his way". 45 minutes passed. Called Tawni she had left spoke to Cyndi and she patches me through to the manager and to my surprise they NEVER LEFT their home. So I wasted my time sitting in my car waiting on someone who was never on their way. StorQuest's lack of business knowledge and their lack of customer service is reason enough to NEVER do business with them. They are incompetent and lack even the basic of training of their own company. read more

Wow, I am VERY surprised by the amount of good reviews posted for this StorQuest. There were two issues: 1. The reservation was made by my boss, who set up a company account. Over the phone she was promised a discount on the 1st month of rent AND a truck/driver for the move into storage. Once I get to the StorQuest, they tell me this can't happen and that it is EITHER/OR, not BOTH. David (the manager) then goes on to blame the call center, saying they always make promises they can't keep. Fine, since I already used the truck/driver I would pay whatever amount for the 1st month. 2. The second issue was with the payment and setting up the account. Over the phone the company account was already set up. However once again I get to the StorQuest facility and they tell me something different. Not only did I have to put the account in my name, but Sharita was adamant that they could not take a payment over the phone (even though it is 2013). Then I asked the manager (David) and he said it was fine, as long as the account is in my name, the payment can come from anywhere. I was disappointed by the customer service I received that day, however Anthony, the store manager, called me and apologized for the whole incident. After speaking with him, and discussing the situation we came to the conclusion that it was a big miscommunication. I appreciated Anthony reaching out to me, and wanting to smooth everything over. read more

Do Not Use This Place!! They are still charging us for a vacant unit TWO months later. We provided the required advance notice that we were vacating the storage unit, made several follow-up calls when they incorrectly charged us the month after we left, were told it would be fixed and it never was. Read the other reviews. This place has a habit of continuously charging people after they vacate their unit. Take your business somewhere else!! read more

This StorQuest has the cheapest prices around. The staff said it's partly because of the neighborhood that it's in and partly because they only just opened up. When I went two weeks ago, they were just expecting their security cams to get installed. I got the student special which included a van for pickup (you must load everything yourself) and 15% off each month. They also had a manager's special which meant that the first month was only a $1, but I needed the truck and 15% off is still a good deal. It's fairly easy to unload your things on to the street and get them through the back door and on to the freight elevator. They have trolleys which help a LOT. The staff is cordial and helpful. If you need boxes, tape, furniture covers....they sell it there. read more

I needed boxes for our recently completed move and I popped into StorQuest on a whim. They had exactly what I needed and it was significantly less expensive than what I had paid a few days previously for boxes that were "on sale" at my storage space. The girl behind the counter tried to help me even though she was quite pregnant. I told her not to worry about it. I carried my tape, packing supplies, and boxes out to the car myself. I don't actually recommend using their tape. whatever brand it is, it is kind of cheap. It's so thin, you end up using twice as much and it still isn't as good as one strip of Scotch-brand. Street parking is kind of weird there, so I recommend heading right to the lot. If you go on a week day like I did, chances are good you will have it all to yourself. read more

Truthfully, y business has not yet started storing product at Stor Quest on San Pablo, but I am looking forward to doing so. Anthony is a true pleasure to engage with. He is professional and very competent, but more than that he really listens to you and shows genuine curiosity in what your needs are. Stevelyn (sp?) was also very helpful. I had made a reservation for 3 spaces that expired on the day I went down to confirm the rental. Even though they could not find me in the system (apparently the computer automatically rolled me out on the 30th day) Anthony and Stevlyn were very determined to find a solution for me and make sure I got the spaces I needed. And when it was discovered that the spaces available had support columns in them, Anthony offered to speak with corporate to make sure I'd get a reduced rate. And they also suggested other strategies that saved me money. Stor Quest is very lucky to have such great employees. read more

This company gouges its customers. I've been storing my belongings there for several years and haven't been late for a single payment, but my credit card expired (and renewed) 2 months ago. They sent me increasingly threatening letters about the missed payment, but (due to covid arrangements) I was out of town during that entire time and had no access to mail. Although they claim to have tried to reach me "15 times" there were no messages left on either of the phone numbers they had on file for me. They don't use email, which is apparently part of their strategy to trap customers in situations like this. When I called, the office and district managers both refused to take my valid credit card numbers by phone, insisting that they would only accept cash or a cashier's check in payment. Late fees accrue every 2 weeks, so if my check is not received within that window, I would be in an endless hell without ever being able to clear the account. Despite the extenuating circumstances, both managers refused to bend on their rules. The district manager was rude and threatening. Needless to say, the late fees are also usurious. Apart from this nastiness, be aware that this business raises their rents drastically and frequently. Sometimes people have no choice but to put their belongings in storage, but be aware that this is a cutthroat exploitative business. They make it as difficult as they can for customers to correct their accounts so they can profit from the sale of belongings and turn the units over. Buyer beware. read more

Sharita and Aja have great customer service skills--they are very warm, friendly, and efficient and make you feel right at home from the minute you arrive. Also, the prices here (at least currently) are the best around. I was very lucky to be able to reserve a first floor unit (super-convenient in and out), probably because the facility was just acquired; usually it's tough to get a first floor unit. In my opinion it's definitely worth the premium for a first floor unit if you anticipate needing to access your stuff often. Also, the 50% discount for the first month was a nice bonus. Only one star off for a few minor complaints/suggestions: 1. The facility was a little difficult to find because all the large signs on the outside of the building still say "Beacon Storage" on them. I imagine this will be rectified very soon though. 2. The floor of my unit was really dirty and covered with debris when I arrived, though, to her credit, Aja grabbed a broom and swept the unit clean right away. 3. The first floor units have an unpolished/rough concrete floor. Though I didn't go upstairs, it looks from the pictures that the upstairs units have a polished concrete floor. If you're storing delicate things (framed art, etc.) that could be scratched on the bottom by the rough concrete floor, know that you might need a blanket or something else to put on the floor if you have a first floor unit. 4. The overall building security looks excellent. However, I might like to see some sturdier material making up the ceilings of the first floor units (the current material is a heavy wire mesh). I don't know what the ceilings of the units on the other floors are made of. 5. The neighborhood is a little sketchy. StorQuest is clearly aware of this, as evidenced by the fact that the front door to the office (which lets in from the street) is not left unlocked even during business hours--you have to be buzzed in. The state of the neighborhood obviously isn't StorQuest's responsibility, but it's just something to know when making your decision if that kind of thing is important to you. 6. Your storage unit is only accessible from 9a-6p (when the office is open). I imagine this helps increase security. However, if you want to be able to access your stuff earlier or later, I'd recommend somewhere like Extra Space Storage, where, at their Emeryville location for example, you can access your unit from 6a-10p, and they have a beautiful, modern building. However, you'll pay more to store your stuff there. Despite the minor quibbles above, I was overall quite happy with my rental experience. For the price, I think Stor Quest provides an excellent service. read more
