A nuisance to the neighborhood. Their gardener uses gas powered equipment (which is illegal) to blow all of their trash and leaves in the street. They also leave their large, bright signage on all night long, despite the fact that they close at 6pm. I've reached out to them about these violations with no results, will be contacting the city to file a complaint and will provide photos and video. read more

I am so appreciative of the office staff for making my shift to a smaller unit as easy as possible. They are wonderful. My grievance is for fellow patrons, who park carelessly, blocking doors to the units and exits for other patrons. I think some signage would help. read more

Best Advice: Clarify pricing. My online price was the lowest, My phone price was higher and my in-person price was the highest. Negative: Pricing. There is Mandatory Administrative Fee, Mandatory Monthly Insurance Fee and Padlock fee; besides the rental fee. Positive: Lawanna and Miguel were nice to me. Conclusion: It's EXPENSIVE. This is a clean, well run site. Miguel and Juanita were efficient and helpful. I had a crazy move situation and they looked out for me. They got me an extra unit and helped me figure out the best option on short notice. Both of them are smart and patient. Every time I show up to sort through stuff they are very supportive. I would only recommend using this trash company if you are truly desperate. I've been there for six years. On at least one occasion my unit was broken into, and when I arrived unsuspectingly to check on my things, there was a strange lock on the unit that I hadn't put there. Miguel, bless his heart, had no idea how to explain this and basically shrugged and offered to break the lock. I've given this company no less than $10,000 over six years to keep an eye on my stuff; the least I expect is that I won't be robbed and then looked at like I'm crazy for wanting an explanation. A few days after this, I received a glib call asking if since I've been such a loyal customer all these years I wouldn't mind writing a Yelp review for them ... HUH?! The company's website is trash, by the way. I have never been able to log in and pay my bill when my debit card expires without having to change my password ... and then get locked out ... and then change my password ... and then get locked out ... and there are no human beings to help with these problems. Speaking of humans, while that Miguel is a sweet kid, the other kids staffing this place are real smart-asses who can't even answer the simplest of questions without an attitude. I believe the question that got me scoffed at was about how to set up auto pay when my card expires. Save your money. Surely you have a friend or family member with a bit of space to loan for you for $144/month. And they'll probably even be sweet to you. Done with this place. read more

This Public Storage location deserves all the good reviews. Both Miguel and Melissa were super helpful in helping me book, check-in, and check-out of my storage unit. Couple things to be aware of It's not $1 for the first month; It's $23 as they add a 1x $22 admin fee If you don't have a lock, the lock there is about $17 bux, but it's good and sturdy AND They add on insurance which you can opt out of (make sure you tell them you want to opt out and sign the waiver) cause that's an additional 20 something bux. Aside from those extra kinks / dings this place is great. Make sure to check the site daily for their specials as the rates change daily. Happy Storaging. read more

I reserved a storage unit online for $176. The reservation period was only 7 days, even though I was moving in about 21 days. I called and spoke with the representative, and she said that she would be able to call me in a week to renew my reservation, and that we could push back the reservation for another week. Sounds great! I was willing to pay for a week before I moved if it meant I had a unit reserved. However a week later, not only did she not call me, but their phones weren't working. I tried about 3 numbers and had a friend try another number. Finally she was able to get a hold of their general customer service number and push the reservation back, only it was now $199 a month. Three days later, I receive a call saying that my reservation was cancelled because I didn't call and confirm (which I had tried to do and which my friend had finally managed to do), even though I had an email confirmation with the new date. They then go on to tell me that they had gone and worked extra hard for me, and reserved the new spot for me. Only now it was $220, and I was REQUIRED to show up to check in a week earlier than I'm moving. I am not able to just show up as I live over an hour and a half away and work during normal business hours. Not sure why they aren't able to take a reservation over the phone. I have been trying for over an hour to reach someone and no one is currently answering the phone (during normal business hours). I didn't wind up renting from this location, but if it is this hard to get them to take my money, I'm not sure I want to be dealing with them when they already have my belongings. read more

Terrible experience. I closed my unit 2 days after the first of the month and these guys can't give me a break on prorasted for 2 days and charge for a full month, this after thousands of dollars of hard earned money paying towards their units. MIGUEL Completely inconsiderate and un-apologetic. I expect after thousands of dollars going into this business over the last year a small break would be manageable. Alas I'd never recommend thus place total scam, over charging, terrible service, complete fraud of %100customer satisfaction. Bait and switch. If you want to rent a space from them, go down before you have a truck load of items and nail down the actual cost. We called for a sales promotion. They said they'd hold it for 3 weeks. We packed up our items, got ready to move in on our move in date and were then told the reservation only holds a move in date, not the promotion. In fact, they don't even hold you a space with that reservation. We were told we'd need to choose from what they had available and it was whatever the going rate was at the time. Cheapest was 50% more than our original quote. If you get a quote over the phone, go down to the actual storage place and lock it in. It's a little easier to negotiate when you don't have a truck loaded with storage items. They deliberately don't take credit cards over the phone. The idea is to "reserve" a space for out of town customers and hit them with a higher price unit when they show up at the office with a loaded rental truck. Not much you can do at that point. read more

I've never really had that great of an experience at Public Storages but this one has definitely proved me wrong. Everyone should meet Miguel - he is the sweetest and most genuine person! He goes above and beyond in helping all customers who come in the door. I know people are somewhat concerned with the area but it is actually very clean and secured! I've also actually witnessed a situation where a woman was short of money to rent out a space but one of the staff members actually paid for her, out of his own pocket to help her. Staff here is amazing and is always doing what's best for customers! read more

$144 per month for 5' x 10'...give me a break. Well, actually all of the Public Storage locations in the area quote outrageous prices.

"In mid 2017, I rented a 10x20 unit at the Public Storage facility located at 1 Storage Road in Beaufort, South Carolina 29906. While I initially requested a 5x5, I was told that a small unit was unavailable but that they would offer me a great move in special - only $1 - and that when a smaller unit became available, they would downsize me. I accepted this off and after filling out the initial paperwork, I was surprised to find that the associated fees (including purchasing a proprietary lock from Public Storage because their locking mechanisms are "not compatible" with standard locks) approached $100... not $1. Over the months, my requests to downsize have been met with, "we are sorry, we do not have that availability" and the full price of $139 per month was assessed. My reaction to this has been varied: From paying to refusing to pay and arguing. The latter got me nowhere as I discovered the hard way that Public Storage's fee schedule for late payments is staggering to say the least. This fee schedule is somewhat ironic as Public Storage requires payments in advance. In December, I paid over $300 to bring the account current which is to say, paid in advance according to their requirements. In January and February, they still did not "have an availability" for a smaller unit and I did not make a payment on the air I was renting. This month (March), Public Storage informed me that they'd scheduled my unit for auction on the 14th (today) and I asked what was owed. With fees, my new total for January and February was $513.60. I then received a an email with a new balance due of $652.60. Calls to the National Call Center (where I strangely only ever spoke to a nice lady named Jackie (sp?)) informed me that there was "nothing we can do" about reducing the fees and I was redirected to the "District Manager" who would be available at the facility on the day of the auction. I drove to the facility this morning (March 14) and the District Manager was there. I explained to her all of the above, including that part of what was "due" was the full balance of March and April for which this was just March the 14th. This lady was very good at her job and by that I mean that she shut down any and all conversation almost instantaneously. She told me flatly that unless I paid the full balance, there was "nothing she could do". I requested to see the unit to make certain everything was intact and she refused my request. From this point forward, she simply responded to anything I said with the same, "Unless you pay the full balance, there is nothing I could do". At this point, the Public Storage facility located at 1 Storage Road in Beaufort, South Carolina 29906 had been open for a grand total of three (3) minutes on this sunny Wednesday morning. I went outside to figure out which payment method I wanted to use to pay off this losing battle and at 9:36, a full six (6) minutes after the facility had opened for the day, I watched as the District Manager closed the facility gate with the local "storage wars" folks inside - more than one of whom could've been a dead ringer for a 'Duck Dynasty' episode. My attempts to get her attention were ignored so I walked past the gate to the Facility Office. The door was locked and the lady inside did not move from behind the counter. As an aside, the entire front and side walls of the office are glass so we could easily see each other quite plainly and clearly. She ignored me anyway. At this point, an older gentleman in a pickup truck cane careening into the office parking lot, got out and ran up to the office door and began beating in it. The lady inside ignored him too. This man then tried to squeeze himself through the gate to get inside the property. When that did not work, he began shouting obscenities in between, "I WANT TO BID!" and I guess the lady inside realized he was spending money because she exited the side door of the office and let him through the gate. With the office lady now outside - but on the other side of the gate - I told her I was prepared to pay the full amount and we could talk about all of the fees and advanced payments afterwards. She flatly informed me, "It's too late". I'd been calm this entire time and spontaneously laughed saying, "Your District Manager just told me to pay the full amount and so I went to my car to get a payment method. I'm ready to pay the full amount" but the office lady told me flatly for a second time, "You've had months to pay. It's to late". At this point, the facility had been open for a full nine (9) minutes and I was no longer feeling very sociable. I let slip a couple of expletives - nothing quite like the angry gentleman from a few minutes before - but her response absolutely floored me. I have used this Public Storage location for a year now. ESTELA, the office manager has been super helpful and pleasant. I have rented 1-3 spaces at a time and Estela always finds the best priced and most convenient location for my storage units. She has 5 star customer service. This Public Storage location is extremely safe, secure and well maintained. I feel 100% safe every time I drive in and out of the security gates. I have never been uncomfortable going in and out of my units at any time of day. It is easy to get to from the 580 fwy, near Lakeshore Avenue or Fruitvale. read more

Staff was very helpful and thorough. Prices were reasonable. Facility was clean. Hours of operation were good. Although the area is thought to be sketchy at times, never had any problems. On top of all this my stuff was exactly how I left it when I completed my contract. So I'd say as a storage facility they have no faults. read more

I love that this place is small and I conveniently drove right up to my storage space. Miguel was very helpful and the best part of my transaction was that my first month's rent was only $1.00, with no contract. Im only going to need this storage space for a month at the most, so it worked out perfectly. You really can't beat that promotion. This is one of the BEST storage facilities in the East Bay. It's always clean, feels safe and has a professional and pleasant staff. Miguel keeps the property, common areas and bathroom extremely well-maintained. He and Estela greet you when you enter the property and provide first-rate customer service no matter what you need. Contrary to my experience here, I went to another Public Storage not far from Lake Merritt and after the first day of dealing with the angry, unprofessional and ungrateful staff, I cancelled my lease and moved. I'm still at the MacArthur facility two years later. While I'm not happy with the increase in my rent, it would be considerably higher if Miguel hadn't worked with me when I first moved in. I would definitely consider removing my stuff if Miguel and Estela weren't working there. read more
