On top of it getting charged so much for this to happen?? And when we brought it up we got told "oh yes we're near an area where there's a lot of rats" OK??? Maybe mention that???? Do not leave your stuff here. There's rat traps all around as well, I don't know how we missed this. Oh AND they charged us more without informing us.

    HORRENDOUS Experience at Extra Space on Clement in Alameda…read more My experience at this location was frustrating from start to finish. The office was locked during working business hours, and I left several voicemails over time -- none of which were ever returned or followed up on. Anytime I needed help with billing, gate codes, or basic questions, there was simply no one available. I even tried using their online live chat, and after explaining my issue, I was given a gate code -- but the agent told me they weren't sure it was going to work. That sums up the level of care and confidence they provide: guesswork. Even basic conveniences were missing -- there was no access to recycling or trash disposal, so I had to take all my unused boxes and even trash from cleaning up rat droppings back home to throw away. There was also no bathroom available for tenant use -- a basic necessity that was completely overlooked. For a paid facility, that level of neglect is unacceptable. Worse, my unit (#907) was physically unsafe. The door malfunctioned regularly and fell on my head multiple times. I even had to crawl into the unit at one point to fix a jammed door on my own. When my father was helping me take things to the Salvation Army, the gate code wasn't working, which delayed my moving-out process and added unnecessary stress. Other serious issues included: A rent increase without any notice The facility called the police on me without justification -- though the officers and I had a good laugh about it afterward, and I even got the officer's number so I could call them directly if I had more gate code issues. A rat infestation that affected my unit and others -- and when I reported it, staff ignored the issue entirely. The unit was filthy, with rat droppings inside, and it was clear that maintenance and sanitation were not a priority. Most of the staff were rude, unresponsive, or simply absent, though I do want to acknowledge Riley, who was the only team member that was helpful and professional. Between the unsafe conditions, lack of communication, zero accountability, and completely unreliable customer service, I strongly urge others to avoid this location. I've since moved to Public Storage, and the difference has been like night and day. If you choose to rent here, make sure you're insured -- and be prepared to handle everything on your own.

    I opened a storage here 4 months ago, the assistant was happy to tell me my price would be 195 per…read moremonth with insurance an extra 25 so 220 all together. I went to pay my bill not even a full 4 months later and they raised my rent to 322. No notice, no letter, no email. I called and spoke with someone they told me to call back in 30 minutes. After that they stopped answering completely after 25 missed calls. I then proceeded to go in person and see what the problem was. They said according to my contract, my unit could raise up to 276 just this year. So I could possibly be paying 526 per month, which is outrageous. This is Moe then a 50% increase, which by law requires 90 days with such increasement. I asked to speak to the manger, and "Isaac" I believe is his name caught a complete attitude. Got an attitude, even got smart with me.Extremely unprofessional. He notified me that he was the manager. He also told me they sent a post card in the mail, which is a "lie" I check my mail daily! I will be taking legal action very soon. Not to mention the location is horrific!! Extreme homeless activity and rodents roaming all over. I'm not sure if I'll even keep my items after this stay, considering I'm on ground level. Do NOT RENT HERE! I repeat, DO NOT RENT HERE!!! If I could give 0 starts I really would. I will not be letting this go easily, as they rip me off. They are aware of the hassle it is to move and get our things in here, and they make it extremely hard, everything else is already expensive in this area. Their customer service is extremely horrible, they are really really RUDE!! And I'm pissed beyond measures.

    Don't rent here. Yes they bait and switch you with the rent price, the place has a rodent issue etc…read moreetc but what finally got me to leave after renting a storage unit here for years was the terrible new management they have now. They treat you like a criminal rather than a valued customer, cop attitude with you, talk to you crazy, yell at you if come in behind someone without entering a code (even though they recognize you) and charge you if you forget a piece of paper or a box while gathering things from storage and fine you for it without a warning. They also switched up the hours without proper notice so if you use your storage for work early morning like I do, you can no longer access it. Just ridiculous people to deal with, go to public storage, all storage units tend to have their issues but at least you can come and go freely as a paying customer without being treated like garbage. Awful experience.
