They are now raising my rent for the second time in only a year and a half. I'm paying almost $50 more for only a medium sized unit. They claiming they're raising it to compete with market value but the unit is still listed at the old rate (from two increases ago). If you're looking for long term storage, this place is terrible. The employees are very professional, and helpful. The facility swept clean and cleaned daily. The facility feels safe, and all units have individual alarms. Safkeep offer promotional pricing on units, which makes it easy to start renting. Easy lease process. Safkeep is not the cheapest storage you can find, but It's the best storage facility that I've rented from. Very professional experience, and a well kept facility. "Professionalism" is a defining word for Safkeep storage. You can tell that the manager feels proud of the facility, and takes good care of it. As a current tenant, It's important to me be professional towards the employees and facility. They are professional toward me and other tenants. I've rented from other facilities, and while the prices were a bit cheaper, the other facilities were not as clean, and didn't feel as safe. I'm very happy with the service so far at Safkeep storage on 3rd street, and can recommend them. If you choose to rent from them, please be on your best behavior, we have a good thing going on here. And because of how awesome this place was, I was not worried at ANY point - Why? The friendly staff From day one, the experience of renting, billing, etc was seamless and the people were awesome to work with. They were also super informative with the email updates regarding the facilities during the during COVID, etc. The Secure space No matter when I'd be there during their business hours, I would see someone walking around either keeping the place clean or keeping it safe Clean Having had awful experiences (up to and including: theft, vandalism) at other storage facilities, I was shocked to see how clean this place was. I have been pleased in doing business with Saf Keep Storage. Overall, I have found the staff to be responsive, courteous and professional. The only semi-concern/question that I had is if all patrons are recorded upon touring the facilities. My parter and I were informed this is a standard practice; however, we noticed the gentleman who came in after us was not informed of this practice nor recorded. We made the observation, but tried to to think to hard about the differential practice. Otherwise, the facilities are safe, clean, well-secured and quiet. Also, I appreciate the fact that the company offers activities that patrons can complete for credits and discounts toward one's monthly bill. Definitely the type of place that puts profit over people. If it weren't the case, they'd accept bank/debit cards, but as we move toward economic apartheid... Unfortunate. Staff was professional but scripted orientation that occurred before signing. Very clean, very secure, but very sterile (yes, I know it's a friggin' storage facility) in personality, service, and accessibility. So yeah, the location is okay, though JLS has a ton of break-ins, but I suppose when you have as many cameras as they do... If you're looking for a storage place and a more understanding business, look elsewhere. If, however, you're looking for a "prestige" storage facility, look no further. All the bells and whistles: dozens of cameras, metal units, and uniformed and name tagged staff... "Certainly, Mrs. James, we'll get that right to you--No Mr. Wilson, we're currently out." I found a place with a unit that was well guarded that, though in a dicey area and wood units, was happy to have my business. The difference between capitalists and business people is that a business person is happy to have your business, and thus makes money. A capitalist only cares about the money--and this case mine wasn't good enough for them. The great thing is that there are plenty of other facilities that are cheaper and more business oriented. "Meh, I've experienced better" sums it up. Try StorQuest in Temescal or All-Star in West Oakland. Both dirtier, but they seem to be more community than corporate. Now I should see some response explaining why they can't take a debit card. I don't care why--the point is they don't--how's THAT for a capitalist attitude! I've updated this review with pictures of the "free" moving truck that leaks. I pay $206 every month, and every month I cringe at what a horrible set up this is. I can't wait to move everything out and be done with this place. I hope my unit doesn't have water damage, considering the leaks I saw in the hallway by the windows on the top floor of the building. I have to agree with Leslie on the issue of contacting this place. I've spoken with a call center person somewhere and Martha. If you write a negative review, be prepared to a get a phone call with someone telling you that they'd like to make it better and asking for you to contact them . . . to no avail. Well, if you don't get exhausted with phone tag, then keep at it, because it is pretty useless given their odd hours. Here is another helpful piece of advice to this business: Don't tell me you would like to make it better and ask me to call you back. Be proactive and sincere and act on it. I don't want to spend the energy to negotiate with you. I wanted to pay you, store my family's things, and be done with it. I didn't set out to pay $206 a month for a headache and a series of aggravated phone calls. read more

I've stored items at this location four years ago, and had an excellent experience, so when I needed to find a storage space again, Saf Keep was my first choice. It may not be the cheapest location, but you get excellent service and accessibility that makes it worth the price. One of the most important concerns for me regarding storage is access hours. Most locations provide access only during weekdays, with some limited weekend hours. Safkeep offers 7am - 8:45pm access 7 days a week, which is a huge plus. They also have spacious elevators and plenty of carts to help move your stuff. read more

I recently moved to the East Bay and was looking online for storage facilities. After reviewing about 6 or 7 locations, I decided on Saf Keep Storage because they had the best online deals. I visited the location and checked out a few different storage unit sizes before deciding on which one would work best for my stuff. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and really explained things thoroughly (the hours, their services, etc.) The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking when I got there. The facility is very clean and well lit. I felt very safe and comfortable being there. The best thing about Saf Keep is the service. Everyone is so friendly! They will even help you move your stuff in if you need help! Because of their free dollies and move in cart, I didn't end up needing help, and was able to get everything put away with two trips. Just started renting a 10 x 10 unit here. Staff & facilities are great. Free moving truck & hand carts provided. Clean, well-lit, well-secured & plenty of parking. There are also a couple of large elevators which are handy for getting to the upstairs units. I only wish they had extended hours to rent the truck & use the facility. People were always there and available. More than 1 person was on site so you never had to wait for anything. A couple things that I thought were awesome: 1. Free use of a box truck on move in.The first 20 miles are free and if you live in the surrounding neighborhood its basically a free rental. After that, the rental rates are comparable to Uhual but this truck is on site 2. There was a 25% discount for the first 4 months. 3. Customer Service was amazing! Everyone I interacted with was great and helpful. I actually left a key and they called to let me know. Anything I needed they were there to help. read more

Who knew, finding a storage unit would merit such extensive Yelp research!? I must have spent an entire month scouring reviews, looking at pictures, Google Earthing locations, and touring storage facilities before settling on Saf Keep. That should tell you, it's pretty darn awesome. What I like most: it's super clean, has late access hours (til 8:45pm), has tight security with a zero break-in record, good location with easy freeway on & off, and lots of amenities to make schlepping your stuff easier. They have 3-4 flatbed dollies at each elevator so you can take everything in one trip. Also, they offer a free moving truck rental up to 20 miles, which spares you an extra U-Haul expense. Oh, and they have an eBay site that helps you sell your stuff - you just send them pics and a description and they do the rest. Super cool. So far, I've been a customer for 1 month and already feel great about the decision to go with Saf Keep. Their prices seem a bit high compared to others, but safety, cleanliness, and accessibility are worth the extra bucks. Take a tour and you'll be sold. Going back to Saf Keep! We had a small (6x6') locker for several years at Saf Keep at Jack London Square and had a good enough experience, that needing one again we are going back to Saf Keep. Plusses: Convenient location, easy to get to, like the secure gated passcode drive in entry, staff usually helpful and clear, obvious they have a priority on security at every level, very clean facility and a new construction building so the concrete floors are level and easy to roll on, tall ceilings so you can bring in long items and stand them up or stack boxes, active too so you don't ever feel isolated or alone, convenient accessories such as push carts and free moving van should you need it, good hours so never felt like it was unavailable, each locker has a light and they sell locks which we bought, and they sell packing supplies, boxes, wrap, etc. Negatives: None to speak of, we are going back which says a lot in itself. read more

They should remove those old pics of the moving van cause that is not what it is like now at Safkeep. I just happily moved into a large unit there and I couldn't be happier. The staff were friendly and clear and there are a lot of them! The unit is secure and clean and here is the big kicker: IT IS WELL LIT! Did I mention that my unit has an actual light switch in it??? For those use storage units that are more economical, you know the pain, right? In the past we had to buy camping lanterns to use in the units in the dark...this place is so well lit it is amazing!!! They let us use their large large moving truck for next to nothing when we moved in, we "spun" the wheel and got $10 off the first month, the place has good long hours...it is a dream. Seriously. I know that storage units being dreamy probably sounds stupid to a few, but for those of us who can't afford space in our homes or offices to accommodate all our stuff (and in my case my organization works with our stored materials on a weekly basis) it means a lot to come to a storage place that is so nice. We looked around, and other places were like dark caves, dirty, under staffed or not staffed at all, had no or scary parking, were sometimes surrounded by Walkers (zombie reference, yes), and weren't nice to us. Saf Keep Storage in Jack London Square is "The Bombity Bomb!" Excellent location, convenient hours, extremely safe, and did I mention sparkling clean? There are restrooms, vending machines, a small store that sells locks, and moving supplies. You can receive packages, send faxes, all in one convenient location. The staff is very helpful and friendly, they offer the use of their moving truck for a very nominal fee of $15 for insurance. If you refer a new customer you get a discount in your rental fee for one month. Saf Keep also has customer appreciation BBQ's. I cannot recommend this enough! read more
