I love this place and will come back if I ever need to get another storage unit. Very clean property with clean units. Super friendly staff (Pedro and Frankie). Coffee and water and super clean bathrooms while you wait for your movers to load/unload. I was a short timer but there everything was 10/10! The security around the place and your unit is top-tier! I never worried! Definitely a great way to represent Oakland! read more

Easy to understand pricing, no hard-sell, good value rates. Building is clean, elevator works, storage room well built. Staff are very nice. The owner's phone number posted in the waiting room is a nice touch. I got the instructions on keying-out wrong, and it wouldn't let me out. After the office was closed, but an employee explained what I'd missed and its been all good since then. Other customers are pleasant. Driveway and Interior of building clean. Carts work. Alarm-per-space that turns off when you enter and turns back on very nice! read more

They are now raising my rent for the second time in only a year and a half. I'm paying almost $50 more for only a medium sized unit. They claiming they're raising it to compete with market value but the unit is still listed at the old rate (from two increases ago). If you're looking for long term storage, this place is terrible. They will raise your rate every Fall. They don't value their long term tenants. read more

Having a positive experience so far with this storage provider. They do make an effort to be helpful and as accommodating as possible. We had the largest vehicle they had in their storage facility and they moved vehicles and other items to help us get in and near the correct unit to make the unloading much faster and easier. read more

I had the worst experience at another storage place and was very hesitant to store somewhere else. But once I came into saf keep Monique made sure that I was completely taken care of. She was professional, helpful, and answered all of my many questions. I can't recommend Saf Keep enough! Thank you Monique. read more

Is SafKeep storage right for you? I have rented from several storage unit locations in the past, and I've been actively impressed by Safkeep storage on 3rd street. The employees are very professional, and helpful. The facility swept clean and cleaned daily. The facility feels safe, and all units have individual alarms. Safkeep offer promotional pricing on units, which makes it easy to start renting. Easy lease process. Safkeep is not the cheapest storage you can find, but It's the best storage facility that I've rented from. Very professional experience, and a well kept facility. "Professionalism" is a defining word for Safkeep storage. You can tell that the manager feels proud of the facility, and takes good care of it. As a current tenant, It's important to me be professional towards the employees and facility. They are professional toward me and other tenants. I've rented from other facilities, and while the prices were a bit cheaper, the other facilities were not as clean, and didn't feel as safe. I'm very happy with the service so far at Safkeep storage on 3rd street, and can recommend them. If you choose to rent from them, please be on your best behavior, we have a good thing going on here. Safkeep is friendly to both individuals and businesses. Many units have lights installed in them, which is nice. I recently rented a 2nd unit from them. Glad to be here, and I'm grateful that the facility is well taken care of. Safkeep storage will take good care of you. read more

Frankie and Pedro are amazing! They are attentive and helpful, they are always there when you need help and they both go above and beyond! This has been a great experience and I encourage others to trust safe keep for storing important things, the units are very clean and safe, I've never had an issue and I'm sure it's all thanks to Frankie and Pedro read more

All the staff are super nice and extra helpful! For example, Pedro went above and beyond, loading stuff into my car in addition to moving boxes into a new unit. Naturally, I appreciate the security system and cleanliness of the facility, but it's the people who work here who make it outstanding. read more

SAF Keep Storage was really helpful to me in a time of need. The management staff is really kind and understanding. They do all they can to give the best deal possible. There is a sense of community there at Saf Keep and I was a little saddened to leave when it was time to move on. read more

Pedro and Edwin were wonderful and so helpful! I actually came to Saf Keep because I was recommended by a friend. From the very beginning, Pedro and Edwin made sure to answer all my questions and helped me figure out what size unit I should get. On the day of my move, I realized that I might have gotten too small of a unit, so Pedro happily showed me a couple of bigger ones. They were very friendly people, and made the move less stressful. Thank you so much! read more

I recently started renting a storage unit here when I moved to Oakland. Monique helped me find the perfect size unit, and was extremely professional and knowledgable about my rental including what size I would need, how to make payments, etc. Thanks Monique for a great 1st experience! read more

After renting a storage unit here for several years now I can confidently give this safkeep storage five stars. I staff has been consistently friendly and helpful every single time. The facility is clean and well taken care of. I feel safe and secure storing my belongings here. All around, I highly recommend this place! read more

Just checked in, and Pedro helped us out. He was a super friendly guy that walked us through a couple of the options available, and then found us a perfect unit really close to the elevator. The facilities were super clean, and everything felt really secure. The process of getting our unit, and the code for the gate took no time at all, and I even got to spin the wheel for new customers and won a couple of scratchers! My scratchers didn't win, but that didn't keep me from feeling like a winner walking out of the most pleasant storage unit experience I've had. read more

SAFE, clean, secure, friendly. A month before the COVID lockdowns in March, I had to find a solution to store my belongings as I placed my condo on the market. While I was looking at about a 2-3 month "Stay" for my stuff, this quickly expanded to an almost one year ordeal as COVID extended the sale of my place/purchase of another place. And because of how awesome this place was, I was not worried at ANY point - Why? The friendly staff From day one, the experience of renting, billing, etc was seamless and the people were awesome to work with. They were also super informative with the email updates regarding the facilities during the during COVID, etc. The Secure space No matter when I'd be there during their business hours, I would see someone walking around either keeping the place clean or keeping it safe Clean Having had awful experiences (up to and including: theft, vandalism) at other storage facilities, I was shocked to see how clean this place was. It made the price tag for the unit seem much more palatable. Would 100% recommend to anyone! read more

Awesome, the staff is wonderful. The grounds are safe and secure. It is a great place to store my art and nick backs since downsizing.

I needed some boxes and Saf Keep Storage had exactly what I needed. The store was very clean, the blonde woman who helped me incredibly kind, and followed all COVID safety measures. Absolutely recommend for moving supplies! read more

Amazing service, always above and beyond in keeping the facility very clean. I use the moving truck regularly bc I move often and they're always quick to make sure everything is ready and setup. Been with them for years, multiple units. Shout out to Luis and Liz for keeping everything professional and clean. I had an issue with a door that was promptly addressed. Thanks! read more

I have been pleased in doing business with Saf Keep Storage. Overall, I have found the staff to be responsive, courteous and professional. The only semi-concern/question that I had is if all patrons are recorded upon touring the facilities. My parter and I were informed this is a standard practice; however, we noticed the gentleman who came in after us was not informed of this practice nor recorded. We made the observation, but tried to to think to hard about the differential practice. Otherwise, the facilities are safe, clean, well-secured and quiet. Also, I appreciate the fact that the company offers activities that patrons can complete for credits and discounts toward one's monthly bill. I would recommend Saf Keep Storage to anyone who is looking for a storage unit in Oakland. read more

Awesome staff! Managers are very friendly and accommodating. The facility is highly secured and Very well maintained. Facility is very clean and highly secured. I love the gate security for both in and out! They monitor this place carefully, even called me when my lock was not locked properly! Sandy at Saf Keep Storage is an angel. Great prices, safe, secure, and clean facilities. The free access to the moving truck is also extremely helpful. Highly Recommended! read more

Best storage unit ever. I had stored my entire 1 bed apartment in here. The staff is what makes a difference. They're very friendly and responsive during business hours. Customer service is a high priority here and the staff are genuine people. I highly recommend this lace if you're in the bay area (Oakland mainly). There's a free truck service and 30 min move in hell the first time. read more

Definitely the type of place that puts profit over people. If it weren't the case, they'd accept bank/debit cards, but as we move toward economic apartheid... Unfortunate. Staff was professional but scripted orientation that occurred before signing. Very clean, very secure, but very sterile (yes, I know it's a friggin' storage facility) in personality, service, and accessibility. So yeah, the location is okay, though JLS has a ton of break-ins, but I suppose when you have as many cameras as they do... If you're looking for a storage place and a more understanding business, look elsewhere. If, however, you're looking for a "prestige" storage facility, look no further. All the bells and whistles: dozens of cameras, metal units, and uniformed and name tagged staff... "Certainly, Mrs. James, we'll get that right to you--No Mr. Wilson, we're currently out." I found a place with a unit that was well guarded that, though in a dicey area and wood units, was happy to have my business. The difference between capitalists and business people is that a business person is happy to have your business, and thus makes money. A capitalist only cares about the money--and this case mine wasn't good enough for them. The great thing is that there are plenty of other facilities that are cheaper and more business oriented. "Meh, I've experienced better" sums it up. Try StorQuest in Temescal or All-Star in West Oakland. Both dirtier, but they seem to be more community than corporate. Now I should see some response explaining why they can't take a debit card. I don't care why--the point is they don't--how's THAT for a capitalist attitude! (Note, not anti-capitalism, just pro-social capitalism here) read more

I've updated this review with pictures of the "free" moving truck that leaks. I pay $206 every month, and every month I cringe at what a horrible set up this is. I can't wait to move everything out and be done with this place. I hope my unit doesn't have water damage, considering the leaks I saw in the hallway by the windows on the top floor of the building. I have to agree with Leslie on the issue of contacting this place. I've spoken with a call center person somewhere and Martha. If you write a negative review, be prepared to a get a phone call with someone telling you that they'd like to make it better and asking for you to contact them . . . to no avail. Well, if you don't get exhausted with phone tag, then keep at it, because it is pretty useless given their odd hours. Here is another helpful piece of advice to this business: Don't tell me you would like to make it better and ask me to call you back. Be proactive and sincere and act on it. I don't want to spend the energy to negotiate with you. I wanted to pay you, store my family's things, and be done with it. I didn't set out to pay $206 a month for a headache and a series of aggravated phone calls. read more

We used the storage for about one year. The facilities are clean well maintained and safe. The staff was always very helpful!

I've stored items at this location four years ago, and had an excellent experience, so when I needed to find a storage space again, Saf Keep was my first choice. It may not be the cheapest location, but you get excellent service and accessibility that makes it worth the price. One of the most important concerns for me regarding storage is access hours. Most locations provide access only during weekdays, with some limited weekend hours. Safkeep offers 7am - 8:45pm access 7 days a week, which is a huge plus. They also have spacious elevators and plenty of carts to help move your stuff. read more

I cannot say enough positive praise for Saf Keep Storage, compared to Any other strorage companys in the bay this is the best. Polite, helpful, actually takes storage safety and Covid safety seriously. They were helpful on the phone, in person and with follow up communication. read more

I recently moved to the East Bay and was looking online for storage facilities. After reviewing about 6 or 7 locations, I decided on Saf Keep Storage because they had the best online deals. I visited the location and checked out a few different storage unit sizes before deciding on which one would work best for my stuff. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and really explained things thoroughly (the hours, their services, etc.) The location was easy to find and there was plenty of parking when I got there. The facility is very clean and well lit. I felt very safe and comfortable being there. The best thing about Saf Keep is the service. Everyone is so friendly! They will even help you move your stuff in if you need help! Because of their free dollies and move in cart, I didn't end up needing help, and was able to get everything put away with two trips. I would highly recommend Saf Keep! :) read more

Just started renting a 10 x 10 unit here. Staff & facilities are great. Free moving truck & hand carts provided. Clean, well-lit, well-secured & plenty of parking. There are also a couple of large elevators which are handy for getting to the upstairs units. I only wish they had extended hours to rent the truck & use the facility. But otherwise, great price & location! read more

I've stored my things with other storage companies before, this Saf Keep Storage was the best experience I've ever had. I checked out other surround storage spaces but Saf Keep was the best. People were always there and available. More than 1 person was on site so you never had to wait for anything. A couple things that I thought were awesome: 1. Free use of a box truck on move in.The first 20 miles are free and if you live in the surrounding neighborhood its basically a free rental. After that, the rental rates are comparable to Uhual but this truck is on site 2. There was a 25% discount for the first 4 months. 3. Customer Service was amazing! Everyone I interacted with was great and helpful. I actually left a key and they called to let me know. Anything I needed they were there to help. read more

Who knew, finding a storage unit would merit such extensive Yelp research!? I must have spent an entire month scouring reviews, looking at pictures, Google Earthing locations, and touring storage facilities before settling on Saf Keep. That should tell you, it's pretty darn awesome. What I like most: it's super clean, has late access hours (til 8:45pm), has tight security with a zero break-in record, good location with easy freeway on & off, and lots of amenities to make schlepping your stuff easier. They have 3-4 flatbed dollies at each elevator so you can take everything in one trip. Also, they offer a free moving truck rental up to 20 miles, which spares you an extra U-Haul expense. Oh, and they have an eBay site that helps you sell your stuff - you just send them pics and a description and they do the rest. Super cool. So far, I've been a customer for 1 month and already feel great about the decision to go with Saf Keep. Their prices seem a bit high compared to others, but safety, cleanliness, and accessibility are worth the extra bucks. Take a tour and you'll be sold. Life without clutter is a beautiful (priceless) thing! read more

Definitely, SafKeep out shines all other storage businesses! Let me count the ways: 1. Staff are professional, humorous and helpful. 2. Safety is present all around the storage. 3. Awesome customer services. 4. Managers have a way of making a complicate situation become simple. 5. The site is always clean. 6. Access to a moving truck. 7. Any concerns, questions or comments are addressed. I always get a response in a timely fashion. Most importantly, some folks believe storage is where your "junk" lives. In my case it is not at all. I had a family member that was in the hospital for over 2 years and as emotional as that was, staff was very helpful and ensuring the safety of my family members valuables. I hope that you choose SafKeep! read more

Going back to Saf Keep! We had a small (6x6') locker for several years at Saf Keep at Jack London Square and had a good enough experience, that needing one again we are going back to Saf Keep. Plusses: Convenient location, easy to get to, like the secure gated passcode drive in entry, staff usually helpful and clear, obvious they have a priority on security at every level, very clean facility and a new construction building so the concrete floors are level and easy to roll on, tall ceilings so you can bring in long items and stand them up or stack boxes, active too so you don't ever feel isolated or alone, convenient accessories such as push carts and free moving van should you need it, good hours so never felt like it was unavailable, each locker has a light and they sell locks which we bought, and they sell packing supplies, boxes, wrap, etc. Negatives: None to speak of, we are going back which says a lot in itself. read more

They should remove those old pics of the moving van cause that is not what it is like now at Safkeep. I just happily moved into a large unit there and I couldn't be happier. The staff were friendly and clear and there are a lot of them! The unit is secure and clean and here is the big kicker: IT IS WELL LIT! Did I mention that my unit has an actual light switch in it??? For those use storage units that are more economical, you know the pain, right? In the past we had to buy camping lanterns to use in the units in the dark...this place is so well lit it is amazing!!! They let us use their large large moving truck for next to nothing when we moved in, we "spun" the wheel and got $10 off the first month, the place has good long hours...it is a dream. Seriously. I know that storage units being dreamy probably sounds stupid to a few, but for those of us who can't afford space in our homes or offices to accommodate all our stuff (and in my case my organization works with our stored materials on a weekly basis) it means a lot to come to a storage place that is so nice. We looked around, and other places were like dark caves, dirty, under staffed or not staffed at all, had no or scary parking, were sometimes surrounded by Walkers (zombie reference, yes), and weren't nice to us. This place costs a little more but is worth it. Highly recommend. read more
