BFM moved me locally in Berkeley from one 3-bedroom home to another. Their work was superb. They showed up on time, were courteous and efficient, and worked very fast. Best of all, after the work was finished and they presented their bill, they were about $1000 under their original estimate. When I first contacted Noah, I cautioned him that we had a very large coffee table made from a 5-inch slab of red oak that was very heavy. His first reaction was that they would not move it because he was concerned about hurting the backs of his employees. I was impressed. Seeing him put that concern ahead of the profit he could have made by shining me on was what separated him from the other companies I initially contacted. I just moved from Walnut Creek to El Cerrito. I was pretty stressed out about the whole process-- packing, finding a moving company, etc. My chiropractor recommended Big Family Movers to me so I called to get some information. Noah asked me a few questions about the stuff I needed to be moved, and I added in the complication of going to a second location after mine, to pick up my boyfriend's stuff. He gave me an estimate and we hung up the phone. I did call a couple other places to inquire for estimates and decided to go with Big Family because Noah sounded super confident in his team. And he had good reason to be confident, because these guys were fantastic! The crew consisted of Victor, Anthony and Matthew. They were all super nice and super respectful of our stuff -- and bonus...they were cracking me up with their banter and it really took the stress out of the whole situation. They cleared out my condo in about an hour, then headed to my BF's and got his stuff in less than half an hour, then came to my new place and unloaded everything in about 30-45 minutes. They gave a rather reasonable estimate to move, and it ended up being much less as they were speedy and knew what they were doing. None of our furniture was damaged (or lost), and we were very happy with the results. We moved from Pleasanton into Oakland a couple of months ago and chose Big Family Movers after a couple referrals from friends. They moved a few rooms worth of materials, including some heavy solid wood dressers that were full of clothes (heavy). There was no issues with their capability of moving or speed what so ever. Right off let me say, I have had to use Big Family Movers twice in the last 10 months due to unforeseen circumstances. We got the same mover specialists, Eric and Victor, that we when we moved into our place. These two guys are the ultimate best/efficient/communicative/quickest/strongest movers ever. I don't have enough words to express how awesome/friendly/hardworking Eric and Victor are!! They moved us into a place up lots of stairs in Mar. 2020, in rain, on the first day of lockdown for the pandemic. They returned to move us out Jan 2021, down the stairs, still in a pandemic. They wore masks the whole time and respected distancing even while moving stuff! They made quick work of moving our stuff out, heavy boxes and furniture were no match for them. They also bring closet boxes for you to use to move closet items and had a couple extra to put my loose stuff into like pillows and small stools to make moving it a little more efficient. Victor was also communicating the whole time while the move was happening, about range of time to complete the move out/move in and he estimated within minutes. Very impressive! The estimate that Noah (owner/manager) gave me over the phone was accurate and no secret fees or hidden agenda. We had to move quite suddenly (within days notice) and Noah was clearly trying to help schedule something for us. He responded to my calls and texts in a timely manner and was honest/straightforward which I appreciated immensely. He was able to schedule us within two days--and while I imagine not possible every time, and of course you should plan weeks in advance to move-- I was so grateful he found a team and was able to schedule us in such short notice. He saved us a lot more heartache and headaches! It seems like this company can move all across the Bay Area, even in SF; we moved from San Leandro to Alameda and then within Alameda. I was recommended this company by a friend who used their services and it was worth every penny! Back in Mar. was the 1st time we have ever used movers and man, it was worth it! We found Big Family Movers over 4 years ago when we moved to the Bay area and they not only helped us in a pinch, they were swift, careful and courteous! Fast forward to this year when we were moving out of the Bay and have an infant to care for. We knew we needed help and we wanted to work with them again! We called Noah and got on the schedule and breathed a sigh of relief. We packed our own boxes, and moving day came. Tons of traffic in the city (thanks, Dreamforce) delayed our start time by over an hour. After a LOOOOONG, long day (which went longer through no fault of their own), they stuck by us and treated our belongings with care and us with patience. We used BFM to move into our new home. This was our third move in 10 years and had previously used another reputable company. This time we were moving from a condo in a large building to a two story home. Here's the difference we noticed that sets BFM apart: 1.) Quality: although they were efficient they took their time packaging items to ensure that when they were transported and unloaded they would be safe. 2.) Professionalism: you could tell that for the team of about 5 movers this was their profession and not a side job. They took pride in their work 3.) Value: we feel like we got our moneys worth; the move required packing large items, loading boxes and unloading everything in our home as instructed. It took two truck loads to move our items and they didn't just leave our items in one room, they placed every as instructed and reassembled furniture. I'm so angry. My husband knows the guy Noah who owns this company, and they were in talks for moving us. We asked Noah if they were free on Saturday (today), he said no, but they could move us this coming Monday. My husband told him on the phone that we wanted to move on the Monday, and sent him emails with the grade of the driveway and all kinds of other details. They also sent emails back and forth about traffic and arrival times. Then tonight, Noah calls us and says that they're not available and that we never booked with him.
