What an impressive job! I opted for a three-person team; Piero, Angel, and Carlos were masterful and impressive and very much worth the cost. The trio of movers were especially efficient in loading the furniture and boxes at my old place onto the truck. I really liked the portable closet they brought that made transporting nice clothes on hangers a breeze. The move was just a handful of miles -- from Berkeley to Oakland -- so the hope was to finish in the two hour minimum. We didn't quite make it, instead coming in at slightly over 2.5 hours - rounded up to 2.75. That was the only disappointment. I'll give them 4.7 or 4.8 stars. read more

I desperately needed help with my move and am very happy with the assistance from Sweet Lemon. Four very nice movers easily took large and heavy pieces of furniture down 2 winding flights of stairs from my old place and then up one winding flight of stairs to my new place (with some items then going up one skinny stairwell to my 2nd floor bedrooms) with such ease... and without having to dissemble anything but the bed frame, which was incredible to me because my furniture was heavy and I'd assumed they'd need to take it apart! This really cut down on the time spent during the move. Everything was packed so well and nothing was damaged in transit. On loading day, they arrived at 8:06am, right in the 8-8:15am window when they said they would arrive. They loaded the truck super efficiently even though we had multiple beds, dressers, book cases, outdoor dining table, a squat rack, cribs, strollers, and more. They were ready to drive around 12pm. They unloaded at 8am the next day in Santa Barbara and were done in about 5 hours despite the long walk from the truck and up the stairs to our new home. Everything arrived in good condition, furniture was re-assembled nicely and placed where we wanted. Exceptional service from start to finish, and the price was competitive or better than the quotes I got from Pure Moving Company, On Track Moving, Impel Moving, and West Coast Moving. Sweet Lemon went over and beyond for my move. I have just moved from Oakland to a remote mountain home in the Trinity County about 5 hours away. Not only did they drive through a raging storm but when we were about 45 mins out a landslide happened and the road was blocked. The team, Guillerme, Carlos, and Rolando were friendly, fast, efficient, and careful, paying particular attention to our fragile boxes, taping lose plastic stacking container drawers, and shrink wrapping our sofa frame and cushions individually to reduce possibility of damage or dirt. They also took great care moving our 75 inch and 32 inch TVs securing each with blankets and shrink wrapping.  Next, they disassembled and then reassembled our storage bed frame and  headboard, carefully removing the attached mirror from the dresser, blanketed and shrink wrapped the 9 drawer dresser, two end tables, and 7 drawer chest, all bedroom furniture is real wood and heavy to move.  In our office, they quickly removed crates of files, two wooden tables, a wood bookcase, and two castered ergo chairs.  I had already moved my two computer stations and monitors to our new residence, along with our home entertainment system's components to be ready for internet connection scheduled later that same day. The best part of this move was Guillerme and the team's solution to moving in our 9 ft sofa with detachable chaise cushion and ottoman. By removing the sofa's legs, and angling the sofa through our front door and hallway, they were able to bring the sofa into our apartment "without  cutting it in half"... I also want to give props to Farzi for his skills and fairness estimating our move and guaranteeing a reasonable price and flat rate for today's move after seeing our furniture, belongings, and building and stair access through a virtual Zoom inventory call. Kudos also to Jim who scheduled the move and kept me apprised of the move status and arrival times. This move involved moving out of a second floor condo and moving in to our new place accessible by both an elevator for our boxed belongings and also climbing 3 flights of stairs to bring our larger furniture up to our 3rd floor unit! Excellent service from start to finish. I was referred to Sweet Lemon by Jay's Small Moves because they claimed that their trucks could not navigate the steep Oakland Hills. As a side note, that's a weak excuse because people have moved in and out of this neighborhood since it was developed in the 1950's. Anyway, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because Sweet Lemon was an immensely better experience. For starters, the man who booked the move was so much friendlier than the abrasive guy at Jay's. Although Sweet Lemon was booked in the morning because of the time crunch, they were still able to accommodate me. In fact, they offered me an afternoon slot, which is what I wanted. All the other moving companies could only book early morning appointments. On the day of the move, the drivers arrived within the time slot. They worked so hard with all my overpacked boxes and junk. I knew it was a difficult move because of my steep driveway and outdoor steps, but they handled it efficiently and without complaints. They singlehandedly carried boxes and furniture on their backs that typically requires two people. There was no damage and everything arrived intact. Finally, the prices were fair and there were no hidden costs. Their rates were competitively priced and in some cases, actually cheaper than some other companies. For example, Jay's wanted to charge me $200.00 for fuel and packing supplies. Sweet Lemon, on the other hand, only charged $75.00. That's a huge difference! We moved about a month ago from a 1bd in Berkeley to a 2bd in downtown Oakland and I can't recommend Sweet Lemon enough. Prior to the move, we were sent an email with several PDFs detailing the rate and what to expect in terms of being prepared and the services Sweet Lemon would provide (bags, wrapping, etc). Moving is already stressful enough and having that information ahead of time to plan was greatly appreciated. I regrettably don't remember the names of the three men who did our move but they were exceptionally efficient and professional. They arrived exactly on time in their scheduled window and immediately began wrapping up our items and packing up the truck. We were fully confident that everything was transported safely and it all indeed arrived to our new place unscathed. All of our things were unloaded very quickly and while we turned it down, they offered to help us move around the furniture in each room to its desired spot. All in all, the move was completed in just under two hours!!!! Granted, we moved about 9 boxes and some lampshades ourselves the day prior but even so, we doubt any other company in the Bay Area could have accomplished that move in such a timely manner. MOVER RECOMMENDATION: Based on ND neighbors' responses to my post and after getting several mover quotes for my OAK to SF move, I chose Sweet Lemon Moving Services. SW was not the cheapest quote but the owner/operator was great to work with on the phone and via email and assured me that his workers were paid a living wage (quoted the wage), along with benefits and good working conditions. We got estimates from four different companies for our local Bay Area move. Sweet Lemon was the best price, had the most thorough estimate process, and was very responsive to follow-up questions. They also offered us a lot of flexibility because we had some large pieces we weren't sure if we were taking with us or not--and they offered a great pricing structure that gave us time to sort out some of these decisions. They packed our kitchen, hanging clothing and art/photos the day before--a team of three came through and worked like lightning! They were thoughtful and careful with everything and asked a lot of questions to make sure they organized things the way we needed. Francisco and Estuardo were also just fun and friendly to work with so it made a pretty disruptive packing day for us feel easygoing and fun. And the day of the move--Sweet Lemon was a marvel! Six movers came, cleared out one room for me so I could put our pets in there, and then hauled all of our stuff out to the truck. They had it thoughtfully organized and were very careful to follow the system I set up so they could get things into the right place. I couldn't believe how hard and fast they worked.I noticed they were very careful in noting which boxes needed to be on top because of fragile items, etc. Unloading was easy and fun--they went the extra mile to help us get felt on the bottom of furniture that needed it, make sure everything was unwrapped, move furniture and boxes around when I changed my mind :), and generally were fun, easygoing, helpful, and very very professional. I was particularly struck by how the two crews seemed to be having fun with each other--lots of laughing and talking. Which made me feel like this is a company that values its employees. They charged hourly (go figure) and only had two guys working basically at a snail's pace. I was pretty disappointed and stressed and we did a lot of the moving ourselves just to speed things up. These guys moved us out and back into our house for a remodel. They were quick and efficient and managed to pack everything safely in our basement and garage. 8 months after the move out the same guys came back and moved everything back in so it was even more efficient! Plus they took down and put back up my daughter's giant bunk bed - huge bonus! Oh and we had to hoist a few things out and in from a second story balcony, which they did no problem.
