The surveyor came out to our property the very next day to set up our move. After WE delayed the move by about a month, they put our account on hold and then rescheduled with no penalty. The actual move went very smoothly with four hard working, experienced and friendly movers, (Giovanni, Jesus, David and Manuel), who handled our possessions with great care. This company came highly recommended, so I was surprised by how disappointing our experience was. We were moving from Oakland to San Francisco and only needed help relocating a king-size bed. During the move, the driver hit and disconnected a cable line at our origin, knocking out service and creating additional stress while I was managing work on the backend. Accidents happen, but it set the tone. More concerning was how the bed itself was handled. The movers arrived without tools and used ours to disassemble it. When they reassembled the bed, they failed to properly tighten the screws, and one of the four critical support pieces that hold the bed frame together was missing entirely. I didn't discover this until a few weeks later, when the bed nearly collapsed. I have a baby and a dog at home, and the situation could have ended very badly. If a part was lost or damaged, we would have appreciated transparency. Instead, we were left with an unsafe setup and no communication. We tipped 20% at the time, assuming the job had been done properly, which makes the situation even more disappointing. I reached out to the company afterward and never received a response. Overdue review for our move last year by Paradise Moving. We moved from a large apartment building in Uptown Oakland to a house and Rob P. was one of 3 moving companies I had come over to give estimates for our move. Of the 3 companies, I felt the most comfortable with Rob and he put me at ease with the fact that he would personally be there for our move and his rates were reasonable. He also seemed to understand my concerns of moving a family of 4 with 2 kids, being a dad himself. Logistics such as needing some things until the day of the move itself, etc. We had storage units in the apartment building and the contents of our apartment to pack up for the move and I had boxes from our move from NY that I hoped to re-use before using their materials. Rob was amenable to my requests and his team did their best to accommodate them. The men who work for him are very friendly and nice and work well together, which is really important in a complex move. After the move, they were also great about finding a screw for a bed frame that had been misplaced. The personal and nice customer service is not something you get anymore. To have the owner himself working alongside his team and come personally to fix an issue speaks volumes about how this moving company stands separate and apart from others. I called Paradise for help moving an upright piano across town and they were excellent. WOW. They hauled a heavy piano up some very steep and curving stairs (after wrapping it in blankets and loading it onto a special dolly for moving pianos), loaded it into their truck, and came down a bunch of winding stairs to unload it at my house, all without issue. I'm quite sad to have to give this a 2* review, but unfortunately I feel as though it's accurate. I was moving from a 1BR apartment to a 2BR apartment, a little more than 2 miles away. They showed up with a very small U-Haul truck, which they claimed to not be able to get into the garage (when we convinced them to try, it went in). Overall the move took 7 hours for the two movers to move the 1BR two miles to the 2BR, even with all the boxes pre-packed. They actually ran out of room in the truck, so I had to bring some of the rest of the stuff on my own. This really felt excessive - I didn't have much stuff at all, it was a normal 1BR apartment. Additionally, they had trouble taking apart the bed, as they needed pliers, and asked if I had pliers. I did, but it was packed in the boxes with the rest of my stuff, so I had to run out to a nearby store and buy the movers pliers. They claimed to only carry "basic equipment" but I'd consider pliers pretty basic equipment for a moving company? Overall I was really disappointed with this moving company and can't recommend them with a good conscience. 7 hours and $1000 cash doesn't seem right for moving a 1BR apartment 2 miles. read more

From a grill with a broken wheel, to an exercise bike, to portable ACs, to a fancy tv, to the junk that we didn't have time to put in a box before they arrived....they moved everything quickly and without any issue. The team at Paradise did an amazing job with our recent moving project. We had to move a massive table (7' diameter with concrete base) and 2 very heavy statues (each over 6' and 1000 lbs). The move required hauling the three pieces from a hilly area, up some long pathways, and then delivering them to a similarly challenging location. The statues were fragile and had to be very carefully wrapped, transported and reassembled. Great crew, highly recommended! read more

While you admit some fault in the miscommunication, your response suggests that you were ready to accommodate us from the beginning of the interaction, but I flew off the handle and immediately started screaming obscenities at you. In reality, I did raise my voice, but not until our second phone call. I only resorted to raising my voice because you would not stop interrupting me, even after I asked you calmly and politely *multiple times* to allow me to finish my sentence. Sometimes the only way to not get bulldozed is to be the louder voice. 2. You claim that you were interrupting me "only... to emphasize that [you] could honor the appointment just not at the exact time scheduled." In fact, you were interrupting me to repeatedly deny that the appointment existed at all, and to say rude things like "it's not our fault that you don't know how to make an appointment." I am not sure how many customers would be able to maintain complete composure in response to a statement like that. 3. You are continuing to deny that an appointment existed. For any Yelp users who are curious, see screenshot attached. "Sounds good" is undoubtedly an acceptance, and if I was expected to confirm the day before, it was your responsibility to let me know that. After all, I did not confirm our previous appointment and you showed up without issue. 4. You claim I used "obscene and vulgar language." I absolutely did not use obscene or vulgar language by any adult standard, though perhaps it seems obscene to you for a woman to stand up for herself. Smearing my character to make your actions seem more excusable is one of the oldest and most transparent tricks in the book. I am not trying to ruin this business, or even to suggest that customers should avoid it. As evidenced by the 165 five-star reviews, Paradise is clearly a beloved company that has graciously served many Bay Area residents. Super friendly and hardworking crews. The only downside to this company is it doesn't know how to estimate the right size trucks for house size. I had a large 5 bedroom house and garage to be moved and they sent out a truck that would only hold a 1 bedroom house. This required a 2nd truck and another crew to pack the rest of the house but the 2nd truck was the same as the first, so I'm still stuck with a single car garage full of stuff and 1 bedroom left. The owner of the company made no offer to discount any part of the move as it was their fault we needed a second truck and still don't have all our items. Additionally this inconvenience is even harder for us as my wife is unable to do any lifting and our son is on 24/7 oxygen and bed ridden, so now I have to travel back to get the rest of our stuff on my own which requires another truck, additional gas and lodging. read more

We had another company in mind however a coworker recommended them and we went with Paradise. The move was overall good except for the surprise fee. That definitely was not expected specially because the move was within Oakland and literally less than a 5min ride. At the end of the life the driver states there is an addition fee due to them driving back to the warehouse which came to a complete surprise. This definitely should have been communicated. We were just to ready to be over the move so I did not dispute it but it's not good practice to have fes added if these are not disclosed. Overall I am content with the movers they were very kind, courteous and easy to work with. Update in review. I was contacted by Rob and he confirmed the additional fee was added by mistake. Azer and Nick were awesome. They were super professional and prepared. Frankly, I was astounded at how fast, hard-working, and unrelenting they were. Even the heaviest boxes, they handled with aplomb. Winding stairs, no problem, no complaints. I was giving a piano to a friend and needed it moved to her house up many outdoor stairs. These guys were really great! They came back with a very reasonable quote quickly. Were very responsive with communication and were able to come within just a couple days from the initial contact. I was impressed by their moving technique which was carefully planned to need as little brawn possible using just 2 guys. The older man was clearly training the younger one and he seemed to be really enjoying himself as he showed the younger one how easy It could be if you do it right. I recently relocated from San Francisco to Palm Springs with the help of Paradise Moving, and if I were to move again, I would re-hire them. I like the fact that from the very start, communicating with them was straight forward and the signing process was simple. It had none of the cumbersome Zooming, taking and sending images, and meeting someone at your place for consulting that I have seen or heard about. I also like the fact that Rob, the man in charge, always answered the phone; he was direct, courteous, and professional. The day before the move, Rob made a check in call. The following day, he rang me to let me know his crew was running late. Once they arrived (party of three), they moved pretty fast. One concern I had about the move was my piano. While it's only an upright, the building elevator was small. Rob did not seemed concerned about that. What I didn't explain beforehand were the hind legs that supported the back--a peculiar design of this piano which require careful handling. Well, I didn't have to worry about that once Rob and his crew started, and saw the way he supervised it. Another thing I really like about this crew is that, with the exception of the heavy furniture and the piano, they carried the boxes by hand instead of dumping them onto a trolley. They also took care of the variety of loose stuff that I abundantly have. My only quibble were the wardrobe boxes which were worn from overuse and did not withstand the amount of clothes. It would have been far better to use large boxes and lay them flat. Considering everything, this is no cause for complain. I wasn't in Palm Springs when they arrived and unloaded the following morning. From what I was told, they were an hour ahead of schedule. I arrived in Palm Springs today--a week later and have found all my boxes, furniture, and loosed stuff all looking pristine and neatly laid and organized. I wanted movers that will transport my stuff securely and quickly without paying a hefty price and I couldn't be more pleased. I mean, what else would you really want from a moving company? This group gave me the confidence and peace of mind I wanted even before they left and reached the destination. I would gladly recommend Paradise Moving to family and friends.
