do not trust your stuff here only store trash because that's how they treat your stuff, how can this even happen, you get storage so this doesn't happen. So I came to our storage and it has mold rats or mice have eaten my stuff and it's covered in rat crap and spiders and spider webs. All of witch they don't care at all about, we pay over $300 for our stuff to be ruined, they said good thing we recorded that you guys went with your own insurance and not ours so we don't cover anything, I didn't know that. They also don't take care or cover that their doors aren't sealed that they let rat destroy your stuff all that is the property maintenance not properly being done. I have stuff in there that my mother made me that was very important and I was eaten by a rats. The fat that they do not care about any of your items, or that because of core maintenance your stuff is destroyed, is extremely unethical and very poor business practice do not use the storage place for anything valuable, or that you care about I have a wine barrel in my storage that is in worse, shape, and condition now than one that has been sitting in my backyard for three years, literally these items would have been better just placed in my backyard under a tarp, and to pay over $300 a month because the keep just increasing the rent for no reason it insane. What are we even paying for. Everything was clean before we put it in here. Family pictures memories have been destroyed, replaceable items have been destroyed. And it is 100% the storage places fault for not taking care of the unit to get the storage unit to have everything covered in dirt spiders rat crap mold spores, growing. I can't believe we have been paying for over 4 years to be treated this way, and for our stuff to look this way. It's going to take days to even try to clean our stuff. They also had a fire that caused water damage and everything to smell like smoke that they said wasn't covered when we did have their insurance because we took to long to get to and find the damage because it was boxes in the very back on the bottom, it's why we went with our insurance and got rid of theirs because they didn't cover anything anyways. read more

just noticed a bill thats increased by over 1/3 from last month. I pay on time and don't see any notice of the increase via email. Let'a hope this is just a mistake in their billing dept because often, when we put our belonging in storage, its not as though it's easy or even possible to move things out again quickly if they hike the rates. I'll be calling next week to see if I can get this fixed. A $60+ a month increase in one go seems crazy. it's not as though they are buying gas or food to run the place so why would they need to increase the rates by such a significant amount? Let's hope it's a mistake and it get resolved. I'd be very wary about using this company if they are going to hike the price on people when they're not close enough to move out of their unit. read more

Talking to Maria Garcia in my opinion is truly painful. It's like listening to a broken record of a monotone, rude person, with a major attitude. I've never listened to someone more repetitive in my entire life. Clearly she is losing customers for this business. She must have a very nice boss because if she was one of my employees, I would immediately remove her from having anything to do with customer service, and relocate her to janitorial services. There is always a terrible smell at this location and during the summer months the stench is nauseating. The bathrooms are NEVER available and honestly that is super annoying and inconvenient. They are NOT on top of their security lighting. It's obvious someone doesn't change the timers to account for fall/winter hours. They will only give you 30 days notice before they increase the rent and it might be up to $60 more per month. Im counting down the days till I can close my unit and move my stuff somewhere else. read more

I was almost a customer. Almost. Then they played Bait and Switch. I had conversations with both Maria one day and with Dominique on the day I was supposed to finalize the reservation. While I was asking questions about insurance and locks, after returning Dominque's call, she suddenly had "a problem" with my reservation. Lo and behold, even though they were the ones who were calling ME, to confirm my reservation, all of a sudden my drive up access unit was unavailable. Only an interior, non drive up unit, which was NOT what I had reserved, was now available. My unit was somehow sold to someone else. Good thing I did not drive the hour down to find this out. However, I suspect this happens all the time, especially when an informed consumer begins asking questions about all the garbage fees. read more

If I could leave Extra Space Storage zero stars I would. What started out at looking as a positive interaction with the lady behind the desk turn sour really quickly. When my wife and I entered the office my wife commented that Extra Space storage had their competition right next door. The lady behind the counter replied "they actually aren't our competition." Actually Jefferson Self Storage directly next door is your competition and takes care of their customers. We inquired about renting a 10 X 10 unit. The lady said that they only had 10 X 10 outside unit and the price to rent it was $256 a month. This cannot be true as on the website it states that the location does have indoor unit for cheaper. The outdoor unit according to the website rents for $201 per month and not $256. This place sucks! What does the lady in the office get a bonus for quoting customers higher prices than what is posted? Or does she pocket the extra money? Do yourself a favor and go next door and rent a unit from the "competition", that is not the competition where the lady doesn't attempt to rip you off. read more

I was in between relocating from San Diego to Las Vegas and needed a storage for a month or so. My whole experience from reserving a space online, follow -up phone call by manager, Chris to utilizing my space then closing it was indeed stress free and convenient. The location is away from heavy traffic, clean and office is organized. I had to switch from a large space to medium and that transition was easy as well. This is my second 5 star review for this place! Maria is seriously a life saver! The first time I worked with Debby, who was so helpful. but this time around I was a complete mess and Maria seriously held my hand the entire time. We already had a 10x20 unit and moved a lot of stuff out of it, so we thought we would be able to move things into smaller unit. I kept having to push back the move out date, which Maria helped me out with every time. We then go to move all our stuff into this smaller unit and we realize... no way Jose! this is not going to fit! We have to call up Maria again and tell her that I am dumb and we need to cancel the small unit and keep our bigger 10x20 unit. Long story short, we didn't move anything and we have the same exact storage unit from the beginning. I used this place to store my belongings after a move. Ended up staying close to five years. The staff was professional, the place was clean, my goods always felt secure. My only complaint was that they'd raise the rent fairly regularly at a rate far beyond the cost of living/inflation. In response to some who said they wouldn't prorate the rent when they left, in my experience when I moved, they contacted me the next day after I left a message and credited my account. We rented here for 6 months and did not have a problem until month 4 when all the sudden our rate jumped up $20 and then move out when we were charged the entire months rate for being there only 9 days. We had submitted our move our request PRIOR to them charging us as stated in the contract, and they claim that they processed it two days before. Our bank records indicate differently and we will be involving corporate at this point. Maria at Extra Space Storage was not a bit helpful when called to find out information about renting from the storage facility on Jefferson in Murrieta. We inquired as to what the percentage was that the unit price could be increased to over a period of time, (Periodic increases are a standard practice in the industry.) We did not want to rent a storage unit that we could afford and then have the price raised so much that we could not afford it; so the percentage of increase was a deciding factor as to whether we would rent a unit there . Maria said she did not have that information and that marketing would have the information. We called their customer service hotline number to see if we could get that information from marketing and they said they would have a district person call us back. Soon after we talked to customer service Maria called us back and was upset and insinuated that we had lodged a complaint to their customer service (we had not complained). She told us that apparently her facility was not suitable for us and we should look elsewhere. We had not filed any complaints but we intend to now and will be calling their corporate office. Our advice to anyone looking for a storage facility is to stay away from Extra Space Storage on Jefferson in Murrieta. read more

I really had a great experience at Extra Space Storage on Jefferson in Murrieta. First, as soon as I reserved my unit, the manager Chris called me to confirm and answer any questions I had. It was really excellent customer service that I didn't expect and way exceeded what I had experienced at past storage establishments. Upon arrival he greeted us and showed us the unit we would be renting. He answered questions, made suggestions and it was just very easy to work with. One of the things I love about this business is that they have extended gate hours. Many storage places close their gates at 7pm but everyone knows you always have a couple more loads on moving day!! Also, it's a bonus to have the truck available for move-in. You reserve it in advance and get to use it all day. This was extremely helpful!!! read more

I rented a space 10x10 unit at Extra space for just two months. Don't expect to get your deposit or your next months rent repaid anytime soon. I closed my space on July 30th one day early. I swept out the space (not hard I was only in there 2 months), and was told my automatic payment would not come out of my checking account...WRONG!!! Still to this day we havent received our due monies. EXTRA SPACE told us it would be returned to account in 7 days, 9 days past and nothing. I called again. "You will have to contact our general office phone number!" General office: "Oh, that has to be handled at the location!" Back and forth, back and forth.... Then today, my wife was told "Thats a problem with your bank." Funny we have been with this bank for over 20 years. Never had a problem similar to this one with any other company. My suggestion folks Don't do business with EXTRA SPACE at least not the one on Jefferson in Murrieta. Oh, and the $99/month deal really turns out to be a little over $150/mo. Their on-line opportunities, basic and special pricing, and super friendly and cooperative site manager, made this a much "better than expected" experience. If I could give zero stars I would. My wife and I stored our stuff at this place and had a bunch of rat sh*t all over everything... Our brand new couches, my wife wedding dress, my kids clothes and also found dead mice in a trash can we had in there and Maria, the manager acted like that was nothing to her and basically said sorry get new couches... I'm furious with this place and on top of that she also told me "you're the first person to complain about the rodents", when some friends of ours had the SAME problem when they stored at the SAME place and also told them the same thing.... "You guys are the first to complain" so if you store there and complain about the rodents that mess up your property she's gonna tell you that you're the first to complain about the problem. I first went to a competing storage company located next door to Extra Space Storage. I was told that I would only pay the administrative cost of $20 to move in, well that changed once I decided to gather my belongings and move in. At that point I was told I would I have to pay the admin. cost along with the pro-rated amount from Dec 9th through the end of the month because their billing cycle starts on the first of the month. I emphatically asked the manage twice before moving in how much would my move in cost AND THE REPY WAS $20. At that point I stepped and went to Extra Space Storage and spoke with Chris Yateman who was straight up and honest about the entire cost. He explained in clear language the your first month is free and your billing cycle starts on the day of your move. His professionalism was exemplary and in my many years of working in the customer service field I can say without a doubt this was one the best business inter-actions I had the entire year.
