i've been a customer for over two years with extra space storage, but this specific location just gives so much problems. People are unreliable and not helpful whatsoever very bad at communicating. They do things to your storage unit without even giving you a heads up let me add that they don't even answer the phone it's terrible, I would honestly switch to a different location but the hassle of moving all my things would be too much for me. This is my experience choose a different place. read more

This was a Google Maps review I did on January 2023 and updated on April 2023 on Extra Space Storage located on Alondra Boulevard in Gardena. THIS BUSINESS IS GUILTY OF BAIT & SWITCH!! UPDATED REVIEW - APRIL 2023: I received correspondence from Extra Space Storage that my $69 storage fees will increase to $90!!! I can understand an increase after a year, but it's only been 3 months!!! I called the manager, Emma, to vent out my frustration. She said she can only request for a decrease of the rate to $82. That still does not make me happy. It's not her fault but I suggested to her that maybe she can inform future renters that rates will/may increase after a few months. My rating for Emma remains positive but this one-star rating is for the business itself. What a disappointment. Time to get my belongings out of there! JANUARY 2023: This review is mostly about the staff at Extra Space Storage on Alondra Boulevard in Gardena. I don't usually take the time to write a review unless the service I received has been over and beyond my expectations. Emma is a gem!! From the first time I met her when I visited this particular location, she made me feel welcome. She took the time to answer all my questions and was friendly, warm and professional. This was a very busy office but somehow she maintained her composure. I am also pleased with Extra Storage itself. I was assisted by Ms. Emma, who was kind, friendly, and very personable. Emma showed me 3 different units, and she noticed that I had a mobility issue. She was so empathetic and we needed to go back to the office, but she insisted that I stay put while she went to the office and returned back to my storage unit. Later that day, she made a special point to come check on me and see how I was doing. The following day, I drove onto the property, and saw that she was speaking to customer. She turned around, waved to me and had a great big smile on her face. Not only did Emma provide 5 Star Service, she made me feel like I was in a Luxury Hotel. And, did I mention, the place is so clean and spotless, including the restroom. I highly recommend the Gardena facility. Cheers~ Barry read more

Shame on you extra storage space, raising the monthly fees once again. As I do a little research on these storage companies I find that I am not protected as a customer, I am just a dollar sign. So as I set her thinking of a plan. I have decided it's time to stop giving these crazy, echo driven and money hungry people my hard earn money. So people it is time to downsize and become a minimalist and hit these storage companies where it hurts. I will no longer be a victim to these storage companies scheming and devilish ways. So I'm canceling my contract with these people and I'm talking my stuff (but you know what I really want to say lol!) and I'm moving out. I am so grateful to the staff of Extra Space Storage. I have used them to house my items for work for four years now. They help to receive my deliveries when I cannot be present. My storage unit has never had any issue with pests or insects. I am able to drive-up and grab whatever I need with 24-access. Had a fire 2020 ... instead of calling like they do every month to pay the bill, they emailed... took 2 years pretty much to fix the door.. then so much to that. Got another storage April 2023 the manger Emma tricked me into buying a lock. Put a half open lock in my unit. I thought it was given to me since she opened it and put in my unit.. I could've used my own lock. But she then came to me and said, "you need to pay for the lock" I said I thought it was given to me since I'm renting a another storage. She said no. I said then why did you put an open package lock in my unit? She said, "It just something I do". I let it go. Next I made sure and clear that my card wasn't saved and I did not want auto pay. Emma said, "we save it to make it easier when you pay, but I will delete". I said and I don't want auto pay as my funds come from different sources. She said, "It's not and I deleted your card". Next thing you know... I get and auto pay.. which messed up my account. When I addresses it she nonchalantly said, "I'm sorry things happen" I said it a costly mistake. I lodged a complaint. All Emma said was to bring her my bank statements. Hell no my thoughts.. she knew what the heck she did. I didn't feel like it was for me to clear her mistake she knew she caused... she didn't even offer money off my unit, free rent (she said she couldn't) nothing. I was offer $35 to pay the bank fee but it was taken back once I said I will continue to seek upper management... and this came from I believe Steve her District manger. Next I get hit with $100 raise in the rent on this new storage I just got at the end of April 2023. When I called and address it Emma again nonchalantly said you agreed to it and that just what happens. That NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I've had a storage there since 2015... Never did they go up $100 within months. When I got the storage... she said I can read the agreement on my phone and sign. I said, "it will be a while for me to read this especially since I don't have my glasses, can you print it out for me"? She said just look at my computer. So I did. She walked me through by rushing me on what the pages said. She Never mentioned the rate will go up within months or $100 she pretty much said, this is for insurance, this is the agreement that we have your items here, this is if you want to get text about your unit. This place is horrible. I had to change my card because they used it without permission (stole it), the stair well smelled like peepee and there was an beer bottle with beer or pee in it. I feel bullied by Emma the manager there. Sadly... I really liked her.. even brought her a gift. And to add... I called and lodged another complaint Aug. 24, 2023 no one responded (Steve DM) within the 48 hours I was told. No reply.. I called again customer... nice guy helped me... he helped me with another. Still another 48 hours and no response from no one even after I got it escalated. Don't go to Extra Space Storage in Gardena on Alondra with the manger Emma. Go to Public Storage or some where else and save money and get respected. I hate that place... don't go there... please. I'm sharing this to many and I'm going to contact Corporate. Horrible customer service. Management and staff is not attentive or professional what so ever. Rented a upstairs storage space off website which listed amenities that are not even available. ONE OF THOSE KEY AMENITIES BEING AN ELEVATOR. From a legal standpoint AND practical stand point why would you rent upstairs units without notifying your clients PRIOR to reserving that the elevator does not work. Additionally, once the customer service team informed me AFTER reserving (even though on the website this is also not mentioned) that the elevator doesn't work .. their solution was to provide a $25 credit for ONE MONTH. The manager also went on to exclaim that the units online are already priced at a "special rate" so I should be happy with the $25 for one month even though they're misleading clients. read more

Please don't go here! The employees fake their ratings by asking you if you can hand them your phone to write a good review! Pretty easy to think it would deserve 5 stars because they treat you nicely when you're getting your locks and code, afterwards they become cold. The only pro for this establishment is the amount of clearance it has to be able to work outside, that's it. Other than that the staff treat you horribly. I get it they have to deal with bad people a lot, but it's like they like to take out their anger on you and accuse you of being another customer who constantly commits the same mistake. I've committed a couple of mistakes like passing the gate before it fully opens or going behind someone as they're coming inside, but does that really deserve a snarky attitude if it's your first time doing it? Maybe it's in the contract, but that's the same contract I was trying to read while an employee was on the line being impatient asking if I've read everything already, when I just wanted to ask some questions if I was confused about anything. Also they raise the monthly price from 625 to 750 a month‍ coincidentally that was after being late on one payment, after that they started charging me the extra 125 AND they stopped automatically receiving my payments and I have to call them now (which isn't that big of a deal but it is inconvenient). Also a lot of customers go inside and out before the gate fully opens, but if you're the last one to do it before it malfunctions, be prepared to pay up for all the damages that'll be taken with your next automatic payment (it didn't happen to me because I typically wait for the gate to fully open including the day it malfunctioned, but I was told by staff that they would check the cameras to see who was the last person to go through). I'm planning on leaving here once my lease is up. That's upsetting because again the clearance space is great in comparison to other storage facilities that have tight areas. On December 27th, 2023, I discovered that my double locked storage unit was burglarized...I was not notified by any employees, I discovered this criminal act after the fact...My double locked storage unit was apparently cut open and 85% of my belongings were stolen...Then I discovered that Extra Space Storage (219 E. Alondra Blvd. in Gardena, CA) has NO indoor hallway cameras...and I was told by the Sheriff that showed up to inquire about my burglarized double locked storage unit that this location has had burglaries before...I communicated with a District Lead/Manager of Extra Space Storage and asked several questions like..."Why doesn't this location have hallway cameras???"...His response was They don't have them for "privacy" reasons. I then asked, "Why were renters not informed of previous burglaries???"...His response was They don't "advertise" that kind of information...I was also told that, "If someone really wants to get into your storage unit camera or not, they will get into it."...The person or persons that burglarized my DOUBLE LOCKED storage unit are getting away with a crime and Extra Space Storage does not care one bit...I can't go after the criminal or criminals, so I am going after Extra Space Storage. I will be taking legal action against this terrible company because they are just as liable as the criminal or criminals that did this to not only me but apparently other renters. This company must be held accountable for their lack of candor, caring and security. read more

What an awesome person to be greeted by at Extra Space Storage. I had the pleasure of working with Ms. Emma Ash. I was in a serious dilemma and my time frame was short. I first spoke over the phone with her and explained some of the situation to her. She says come on in;I will have what you are looking for. Well after getting there and meeting her, I was even more pleased!! Professional (understatement)!!! I kept changing up things for financial reasons, but she never changed her attitude nor did she reframe from smiling. She made the changes and made me very happy. If only she knew how her assistance took the weight off of my shoulder in the midst of a crisis. Thank you Emma Ash. Because of your patience, everything worked out perfect! Do not put your stuff here. Over $1,000 worth of my stuff was stolen within 3 weeks of it being here. My iPad, vacuum, vitamix blender, my hard drives, and so much miscellaneous stuff that I had packed together are literally gone. I rented here for a month last year in a climate controlled unit, read the negative reviews and was very skeptical. My stuff was ok last time so I gave it another chance. Biggest mistake ever. And their insurance doesn't cover all of what was stolen, so I'm taking a huge loss. The police told me that this place gets broken into all the time and that I should move my stuff immediately. KEEP DRIVING !!! THIEVES HERE !! Keep your things packed and find another storage location. Don't store your belongings here ! I believe that someone here stole from me ! I rented a storage unit from them a couple of years ago & moved my things out last year. First of all they asked me to give them a good rating and they would give me a discount while I was there signing up to rent a unit. I insured my belongings through them and had to write down what my most valuable things that I was storing in the unit were (too much info for employees/thieves plotting on customers) A year into the rental I went to get some important files out of my unit one day & when I unlocked my unit I noticed that some of my things were missing out of the front of the unit (all 4 chairs to my dining room table, my leather computer chair, my cars sound system, new never used bathroom decorations from Bed Bath & Beyond that I was going to put in my new place, etc)....Thank goodness my washer, dryer & other appliances were all the way in the back (my unit was packed with a 2 bedroom house) NO MY LOCK WASN'T BROKEN ! SOMEONE HAD TO HAVE A MASTER KEY ! I went to the front desk & filed a report, the employees in the office were very nonchalant about it & looked suspicious to me. They didn't give a care in the world. No sympathy whatsoever. I filed my report with the insurance coverage that I purchased from them and my claim was denied because there was no sign of forced entry. They never looked at the video footage to see who came out with my property. That was very suspicious to me. I believe that someone there stole from me. It was an inside job. It had to be. Don't stop here ! Keep driving & find somewhere else to store your belongings if you don't want your things stolen !!! read more

Overall, I had a positive experience with this location. I definitely appreciated the customer service of the Assistant Store Manager, Tracy W. He was helpful over the phone and very helpful in person in the office as well with any questions or concerns. Something I appreciated about him is that he said over the phone, "I like to treat people how I would want to be treated," and he definitely lives up to that. I was referred to this storage space by a co-worker. This place isn't that far from Los Angeles/Culver City. I've driven out to the storage like 3 times, and I haven't hit traffic. It's definitely cheaper to reserve your storage online than in person at the store. The staff that I had talked to was really nice, showed me around, and got my paper work done. I came back the next day to place more stuff in storage, and it was another staff that was in the office. She wasn't as nice compared to the guy from the day before. Overall, it seemed like a secure storage space out in an industrial area, and easy to get to. read more
