Let me begin by stating, the manager is an absolutely wonderful person. I found her to be kind and professional at all times. So my comments regarding the facility itself is separate of her. The facility: I wish I could place a "0". The pictures posted on their website does not reflect the real current condition of their storage units. I placed some items there for a year. When I returned, I found many of my things in ruin because of water damage from the rain. The floor of my storage was damp, and some of my things had mold. Additionally, there was signs of either bug or rodent presence. I had to throw away some of my stuff. I paid for a space to protect my things, just for it to be ruined. Waste of money. Some of the area that stores vehicles were sitting in large water puddles. This can't be good and can cause rust. Clearly, the owners of the Carson facility do not care about providing adequate and well-maintained storage spaces and do not care about their reputation. This place is deplorable. I would not recommend doing business here. When I first met with them the week prior, they were friendly and seemed professional, but that completely changed when it came time to finalize everything. I called on Thursday to confirm for Saturday and was told the price and $20 admin fee would be honored. They also promised a $1 deposit for the first month, but that turned out to be a lie. Initially, they quoted me $138, but when I arrived they said it was $145. They tried to make me pay the full first month upfront, which totaled $207, even though it was only supposed to be the $1 deposit and $20 admin fee. I drove there with my trailer, wasting gas and time, only to be met with this bait-and-switch. They claimed that their computer program had recently changed and they couldn't honor the $20 admin fee, but I strongly suspect that wasn't true. When I questioned it, instead of resolving the issue, I was told I could just go somewhere else. This kind of bait-and-switch tactic feels dishonest and very unprofessional. The property itself was also concerning. The lot is filled with run-down cars and is being used as a storage facility, which doesn't feel secure. I would not feel comfortable leaving an RV or anything valuable there. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I was immediately contacted by the property manager Krista, who was unbelievably nice and very accommodating. Krista had an open communication via email from the moment I made the reservation. Today, I got help from DeWayne in setting up with my own storage unit and he explained the setup process and made everything go smoothly. He was even kind enough to find a different unit for me after seeing some damage in the unit I was originally offered. I'd been around the property for over 15 years with a family unit but finally decided to get my own unit. The service here is horrible. The manager is never in, and calls are generally answered by an answering service. The hours are horrific, the unit doors don't close completely and leave your stuff vulnerable to outside conditions. But I needed a place to store stuff cheap. What pushed me over the edge is their lack of decency and courtesy for a loyal customer. After two years of autopay, I lost my wallet. I had to cancel my cards and get a new ID, which meant I couldn't go into the bank or an ATM to get cash. I received a late notice after the first of the month; I had forgotten about it because autopay for two years. As soon as I receive it, I call and explain the situation and request a courtesy late fee waiver. Of course, answering service picks up. They say they will leave a message for the manager to call back. About a week later, I get an email about the late fee, so I reply to the email. I explain the situation and that I'm waiting on the manager to call. Nothing. Two days later, as I'm writing this, I get my new card in the mail and call to make a payment. I let the guy know I want to make a payment, and then ask for him to remove the late fee. He says, no joke, we can't remove it because you were sent notices before it was applied. Seriously? I explain that I did contact via both phone and email, neither of which received a response. He looks at the notes, in which the manager lies about having contacted me and saying there are other ways to pay. Like what? Should I come do a dance? Want me to sweep your floors? If that conversation had really happened, I probably would have taken you up on it. But it didn't. The manager here has no compassion, no work ethic, and is short sighted. In two years, I've spent thousands with never a late or missed payment. She messed it fit $20 and to cover her own a$$ for not doing her job. This company needs to hire someone who cares about their job and customers. Also, renovate. Your doors are horrible. If you have anything of value, spend the extra money. If you want to be taken care of by human beings, spend the extra money. If you value customer service, spend the extra money. If I could give them negative 50 stars I would...I rented a small 5 by 7 unit in bldg 54. Outside under the elements. Needless to say, the roof of my unit sprung a massive leak, letting in huge amounts of water that damaged and ruined a lot of my stuff. Black mold was everywhere. An entire moving box full of shoes and shirts was covered in noxious black mold. I could have died from breathing that in because I am an asthmatic. I lost about 75 items in total. Including a queen sized bed frame, watch, 10 pairs of leather dress shoes, a storage cubicle, CDs, about 20 expensive turtlenecks and sweaters (Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Hugo Boss, calvin Klein, etc.), athletic wear and shoes and a 35 year old GI Joe collectable doll and a denim jacket. Of course I was paying insurance premiums. When it came time to pay out their insurance carrier offered me $562. The total vale of stuff I lost was about three times that much. The female insurance agent (CF, initials) who handled my claim for Storage didn't give a righteous fuck about me. She refused twice to award me for the proper damage. I only asked her to be fair; about $700 in total. These people use IPG Claims as their insurance adjusters. They don't care about you or your property. I will never rent from them again. read more

Apparently updating a review deletes the previous text posted, so I have reconstructed the narrative. Relative to other units in the area, prices for units at this facility are often, but not always lower but mind you, you'll be getting what you're paying for. There are a few things that you need to bear in mind about this location. A previous reviewer complained of rats and I believe her. Even if you do not store food on site (which would be just plain gross and unsanitary anyway given the high level of ambient grime), nothing stops rats from using your belongings as chew toys or as nesting hideouts. The large open gaps near the ceilings allow the rats unfettered access between the units. As the site of a former drive-in theater, the asphalt rises and dips. Water pools in those dips and in times of heavy rain, the place floods. If my unit was any indication of the general state of disrepair and not a unique case, you can also expect water seepage from the ceilings, if not water wicking upwards through the concrete as well, so if you are still have your mind set on renting here, carefully inspect both the ceilings and the floors of potential units for evidence of water damage when given the option of choosing a unit. I wish I had done so because I realized far too late that water was seeping through the roof and dripping on my belongings. Also bear in mind that the narrow walkways between rows of storage units are uneven, not illuminated after sunset, and that the concrete slabs supporting the units are deteriorating. The contracts indemnify the storage facilities even when damage occurs to your belongings due to negligence and poor site maintenance because the legal agreements are crafted to favor the interests of the storage facilities, not you as the consumer. Storage Etc. doesn't assume any liability for damage even when it results from poor maintenance of their site condition to wring out the maximum profit for the minimum investment in upkeep. This facility looks like it could have been used as an alternate outdoor set for the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise with all of the derelict cars and trucks in various states of non-operational decline being stored there. Such vehicles on site are in abundance. You don't have to look hard to find them. As of the date of this review, I am a full-time student and part-time tutor. In September 2017, I experienced financial trouble when a regular client cancelled twice in the same month and I fell behind in payments. Typically, I had been able to make my payments on time but this was the first and only time that I had fallen into arrears that carried over into the subsequent month. I was treated with such contempt and condescension by Anthony Sanchez when I initially stopped by the office in person on Oct. 12th to attempt to settle my bill that I promised myself that Storage Etc. Carson would not have any more of my business. On Oct. 14 when I finally settled my bill and brought my account up to date, I told Anthony to his face that he does not deserve the business he has when he sarcastically thanked me for my payment. He retorted to my retreating back by threatening to keep my belongings padlocked. In legal terms, that would constitute a breach of contract and an unlawful seizure of property. Apparently the corporate office turns a blind eye to poor professional and personal conduct. On the night of October 14, I searched for and secured a reservation through www.selfstorage.com for a new storage space at a less expensive storage facility. On the 15th, I emailed Storage Etc. to give them notification of my intent to terminate my storage rental at the end of the month. On Halloween 2017, just as I had pledged to do, I removed my belongings by end of business day and closed out my account with Storage Etc - Carson. The manager, Anthony, was too lazy and unprofessional to do a walk-through inspection of my unit to verify that I didn't leave refuse, abandoned items, or my lock on the door. Had he thought about it, he had the option to radio his maintenance person and request that he inspect the facility on his behalf but that didn't happen either. For the record, I left no garbage - not even so much as a gum wrapper - and I swept out the space. Since the lock is mine (which this storage facility and others have had the gall to plaster over with their businesses' stickers), I reclaimed it. If anyone at Storage Etc. - Carson makes any claims that I left the unit a mess, it's a complete fabrication designed to extract more money from me and I'll report any malfeasance here. Anthony printed out the move-out notice, had me fill in my information, and in less than 5 minutes that was the end of it. read more

Storage Etc. is EXTREMELY DECEIPTFUL AND STOLE MY MONEY!!!!! I spoke to the manager Krysta who urged me to complete my lease agreement and paperwork online ahead of time so that my fiancé did not have to do so in office so I completed the payment and lease online on 12/30 at 11:30 pm. We intended to move in on 1/2 as they were closed on 1/1, when my fiancé showed up on 1/3 to move in we were charged another FULL MONTHS rent and told the previous payment only covered us for 12/31. The manager NEVER indicated that we would have to pay another months rent or that the payment made would only cover ONE day, instead she insisted I complete everything in advance, which is THEFT! My fiancé then had to pay $160 ($60 higher than the reserved unit), because she also LIED about the door size when I asked, she told me it was a garage roll up door, when in reality it was a standard door like for a house. After paying, Krysta told him we needed to take the matter up with corporate to get a credit back to the account. I called Jake Tropila from the corporate office who talked in circles saying the lease agreement is clear and concreate and that no credits will be given or can be made. He said the same thing over and over again, never acknowledging that what the manager did was deceit and that their company STOLE OUR MONEY. I asked to speak to a manager after 20 minutes of being dismissed, he told me he was a manager, I stated I needed to speak to the CEO or an owner then because this is unacceptable, Jake then said, "there is no one else you can speak to," so I said, "I will be reporting you," Jake said, "Thank you," and hung up the phone. This is the worst storage experience fathomable. DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS. I WILL BE REPORTING TO THE BBB. read more

Do NOT use this storage facility. They are crooks. They traffic in deceptive and illicit advertising practices. They have a storage contract that will nickel and dime you to death w/ fees. They have a rubbish website that makes it impossible to update your new address and new credit cards to make payments, then if you are away for example, and cannot pay online because your credit card info needs update, they will shut down your access to the website to even pay with other cards. When I moved my home address (and therefore the credit card zip code they had on file didn't match anymore), I had to sign a hard copy paper, rather than being able to do it on the website without driving down to their office - thereby the whole time they are piling on late fees and filing fees to what you owe. Then when you go in and try to work it out - they will just be obstinate in your face rather than recognize their website is impossible to deal with. Do not do the pleasure of allowing them to have any of your money. So many other more pleasant and clean storage places. read more

Nice place. Convenient location for storage of my RV. When I'm there fiddling around with my RV there's always someone riding around in their "golf cart" showing prospects or keeping an eye on things. Although the majority of the vehicle storage spaces are very cramped I was very lucky getting a roomy space, allowing ample access around my RV. It's a little disconcerting, though, with the quantity of obviously neglected vehicles, and the like, stored throughout the property. Do not bring anything of value here. We had our brand new trailer stolen. Yes it was caught on camera but all they did was follow someone in because the gate stays open a long time. You get what you pay for the rates are low but forget it not worth it also with the river flowing behind it there's a lot of shady people nearby. Sheriff said it's probably in Mexico.
