I'm not a snowboarder/skiier/any of the above. I hate snow and cold weather. However, pretty much every friend I have is a boarder. Go figure. The weekends get lonely in the winter for me.... Back to reviewing. I have been to this store a few times with said snowboarder friends. Yes, it is expensive. Snowboarding IS expensive. I can't believe how much money people spend on this crap. But if you're going to spend your money somewhere, go here!! Everyone that works here seems like they could be your friend. They're very helpful when picking shiz out. My boyfriend and I went in on Sunday to some new goggles, and the guy was very helpful. They were priced at $90, but when we went to check out, they were only $40!!! STEAL DEAL. For my boyfriend's college graduation present, I bought him a snowboard. While I didn't buy it at Evo, the employees were very helpful in picking out which board to go with. All the dudes are cute too. So are the chicks. It's like Empire Records in there. I like their clothes, because they're different, cute, and unique. I have gone to evo twice, once with my roommate to get her boots adjusted and just a few hours ago to get my boots adjusted. My roommate, a snowboarder, needed to get her boots heat molded and had a few general questions. After sitting down and drooling at a gear for a little bit, Vuti began his work (side note: please seek out Vuti for anything snowboarding!). He made us tea, talked for us for a a while and really spent the time making sure my roommates boots fit perfectly. Wonderful experience. Today I went in because I got HORRIBLE shin-bang when skiing at Crystal yesterday and needed some advice and a relatively inexpensive fix (as I don't have the $$$ yet for new boots). When I told Dan my problem, he knew exactly what would fix my problem and he really spent the time listening to me about my shin-bang and skiing background. While I don't have the money to buy new skis just yet (but I'm always keeping my eye on some powder skis), I know where I'll be going when the time comes. Thanks Evo! read more

Needed ski boots that would be comfortable on my bigger calves so I went to one local ski shop and they didn't have anything that would help so they sent me to Evo and I am sooo glad they did!!! Spent two days with Brandon trying to get the PERFECT fit on boots. Never have a been truly comfortable in a pair of ski boots until now. Brandon tweaked things on the boots, molded the liners to my calves, grinded down unnecessary extra plastic that was on the boots that made my leg feel uncomfortable, etc. all these modifications created a boot that was amazing. I can't wait to try them this season. AND best of all.... when it's time to try them out, if something doesn't feel right I can BRING THEM BACK to figure out how to tweak more things for 100% comfort. Thank you Brandon!!!!! read more

Shopping at evo is a fun experience. It has a warehouse type feel to it. The main floor features a good sized selection of women's apparel, and a ample but still more limited section of men's apparel. A loft upstairs has technical gear such as boards, bindings and boots. Parking is rough - both limited and slightly dangerous to back out of. Though I wish they had sale items and outlet items in the main store, you can find them online, and can shop online in the store, on one of their computers. A cool feature online is to have your items delivered to the store for free, and then try them on, and return or exchange them on the spot if need be. I will certainly be shopping here again! read more

It's really a phenomenal place to buy gear. In 2008 I bought my ski boots, bindings, skis, and poles from Evo. Now I think it's time to get new boots. They definitely have some good sales going on. Jeron helped me and he was so patient and listened to my needs. I really like that they can mold the boots for me as I have weird feet... yes, I'm aware that ski boots will never be comfortable. He is very knowledgeable and said to return any time when I have made my decision or if I need to try them on again (as I'm the indecisive one). I wish I knew the name of the ski goggles guy. He was really helpful also. I like that the staff here never push you into buying and certainly don't force the most expensive stuff on you. Only great experiences here. read more

When you walk in an Apple computer with Itunes plays an awesome selection of music that seems to welcome shoppers to pick their favorite songs. Update: I previously gave evo a 2-star review (farther below) due to slow/inattentive service on a busy afternoon. At the encouragement of an evo employee who suggested the situation wasn't reflective of their typical quality of service, I went back 'undercover' to give it a second try and had a great experience. It was busy in there again, but a salesperson checked in with me within two minutes of my arrival and let me know how long I'd have to wait (15min, pretty good for a place that does attentive boot fittings that can take 30min or more per customer). That was followed by said attentive boot fitting from an experienced salesperson (e.g. he knew details about my current boots and even my 10-year old skis). I walked out with a good price on some new boots, including an additional 20% promotional discount I wouldn't have known about otherwise. Now, the test is whether the fit issues I've had with past boots will be resolved (or fixable) with these ones. Time will tell, but my second store experience was good. Just remember that if you need to do some research on boots, do it online before you visit the store. Prices and specs are not posted. --- original review, now updated--- Stood around for 15min looking at a decent selection of ski boots (dalbello, technica, Lange, full tilt), but didn't garner so much as a "be right with you" or any eye contact. Brandon Clarke was the boot fitter that exceeded all my expectations I had about getting new ski boots, I had ordered a new pair from EVO on line and brought them to the Seattle store to make sure I had the right boots before getting my skis and bindings that I had also ordered from EVO online mounted and adjusted for me. I just wasn't happy with the fit of the new boots and needed some expert advice, we'll Brandon found me a new boot and showed me what I've been missing for over the past 25 years, yes a perfect fitting ski boot that I loved, Brandon was the best most helpful professional boot fitter and I mean true professional because he knows his stuff like only a true professional could. My best possible review given due to his expert advice and service, this guy deserves a raise no matter what he is paid he is that good. read more

This store employs proper shredders (is that what they call themselves) who are super helpful when it comes to selecting gear. I was asked right away if I could use help, and I am a poser, so yeah, I needed a ton of help. I told Steve what kind of snowboarder I am, skill level, and how much I wanted to spend. Steve matched me up with a good snowboard right in my price range. He was able to explain to me how the features in the snowboard made it easy to ride in plain English. I've bought outrageous amounts of merchandise from Evo since I moved to seattle, from both their store and their online shop. I've never had a bad time doing it - salespeople know what they're talking about, have a good sense of style, and put you into something that fits your skill level rather than upselling to professional quality gear. One thing I screwed up was returning some skis after I bought them because I found the same skis online for 50% off. Evo will price match ANYTHING they sell. Even online stores. I wish I could have taken back my online purchase and given the money back to evo :\ Evo even dropped their price the next day to match the other online store. I took my wife to buy new ski boots and had a terrible experience. The staff was rude, curt and told her she was not a "decent skier" if she didn't buy the boots they were selling her, even after she stated the darn boots made her feet hurt! They just said they're supposed to hurt! She was appalled and so was I. I've seen her run double blacks at Alpental, Baker and Crystal just fine. This place is worthless. I originally had a disappointing experience here after I received a different pair of ski boots than the ones I had ordered. However, after leaving a one star review, the store manager reached out to me to learn more about my negative experience and understand how the team could correct the problem. I ended up ordering the pair of boots I wanted from another retailer but Paul had me come in for a complementary boot and footbed fitting with my new pair which was an awesome experience. He also referred me to another ski shop to get my boots vacuum fitted since that's something they don't offer in the Seattle store. It was nice that they went out of their way to make me happy even after I ordered the boots from another retailer. I'll definitely be back. read more

My fiance and went to Evo to buy me a whole new snowboard setup, since we bought a new Subaru from Carter in Ballard. The new car came with a free snowboard from Evo and two unlimited passes to Stevens Pass. Unfortunately, the promotion only allotted for a limited number of boards to be actually free. Since they no longer had a board in my size they gave me a $150 credit to any board of my choice and I can tell you now I am very happy with the board that I picked. I can attest to some of the other reviews that the customer service isn't the best, but in my experience it was simply due to being understaffed. Brandon in the snowboard department was awesome and really seemed to care about me getting the best setup and gear that would work best for my progression. Brandon was very patient and he even picked out 5 or 6 boots that I might like and I tried them all on. The overall experience was great and we left more than happy, but the staffing level needed to be upped a bit. Brandon was really giving me his full attention, but there were quite a few other people who needed some help and I didn't mind waiting for him to help other customers, so that they were helped with the same service I was. The guy behind the register even gave us an additional 10% off since they didn't have a free board in my size, which was awesome. Since this review I've been up to Stevens three times and I could not be happier with my new setup and I really have Brandon to thank. The conditions up there haven't been ideal; super grippy powder to ice and slush, but I cant complain with the new setup. Getting a free seasons pass to Stevens helps too. One of the best experiences that I ever had. My girlfriend bought some awesome boots on the Evo website, but they unfortunately didn't fit. I brought them into the store to do an exchange. They didn't have my size boots, but they were more than willing to find something fairly comparable to what my girlfriend had bought me. I did the exchange and was able to pay the difference from my credit card and not add to it on my girlfriend's card. I showed up with cash and one of my boots after contemplating new skis for several weeks. I couldn't get my brain around paying $1000 for skis plus bindings but finally said to myself "You will have them for a long time and no more renting!". After driving around the block 10 times I finally parked illegally willing to take a chance. Walked up to the ski area and started perusing. After 10 minutes of purposely looking like I really need help I decided to find help. I walked up to 2 people wearing evo badges and waited. 60 seconds of staring did the trick and they broke their conversation to ask me what I wanted. I told them I need help with skis. The gentleman was nice enough to point to a clipboard that I had overlooked. There was no sign btw. I wrote my name down and waited. Walked around, waited. Walked around, waited. 20 min later I basically accosted an employee walking by me and said "can you help me with some skis?". He said "sorry buddy I ski with my feet together.". He was a boarder and by no fault of his own he could not help me. I waited another 5 minutes and left. Good news was I did not get a parking ticket! read more

I've been shopping at EVO for years. Although there isn't a "brick and mortar" location near me, I will ALWAYS go to EVO online before I buy anywhere else. If I do need to go to a store, they are always incredibly helpful. I recently broke an ankle strap on my binding I bought at EVO 5 years ago. First thing I did was buy new bindings at EVO. Explained to the guy (at the Seattle store)what happened and he simply found a strap they had in a "parts bin" that fit, and replaced it and suggested I just return the ones I just bought. I bought a pair of gloves and needed to exchange for size. When I tried to exchanged them as I was directed by an EVO associate, they charged me $7 and refunded my money. When I called to explain I wanted to exchange them not refund them, the EVO associate demanded I pay current price rather than the sale price I paid. I came in during late August looking for boots, there was one person working the area and was engaged in a friendly conversation with a customer which didn't seem oriented towards ski/board stuff. I spent 10 minutes by myself looking at the boots I wanted to try on in sight of the two people. I had to go to the main floor to get help and the lady there came up to get the young man who was with that customer at the time. Once I was able to receive help, other people would interrupt and take his attention off me for a minute or two at a time. Now normally I wouldn't be too upset but when I wasn't able to be acknowledged up front and then couple that with him talking to others for minutes? No Bueno. I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time but just because its August doesn't mean a full time certified instructor won't drop by for a purchase. read more
