20/20 Cycles is super great. Any shop can build or fix new bikes. These guys are masters at making any old ( or new-ish) bike shine.

Ladies, be prepared for some serious mansplaining! They do know how to fix stuff but I'd buy elsewhere.

Perhaps it's the self selecting type of person who chooses to work in a small cramped mechanical shop filled with something that most adults consider a cute play toy, but the staff here were so condescending when I walked in looking for a sort that I left within minutes. This shop was more toxic masculinity than a Buffalo Wild Wings during a "anything". There are too many bike shops that are either helpful or at least neutral towards people coming in that I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Biking is fabulous and I wish more people get comfortable riding a bike. It's unfortunate that places like this will give cycling a bad image. read more

a great selection of new and used parts and components. honest repair and non judgmental. they work with what you've got don't try to upsell you but if you want something cool and nicer they totally do that too. it has a more personable vibe of a shop where you can just come in and chat. great selection and fair prices on used bikes of all types! I like them b/c they were helpful in ordering me some spokes to build a wheel and gave me some great advice and way nicer than other shops and more willing to go the extra mile for me. read more

I've been many times now and they're amazing with their service and tips. I walked in and they gave me tips on changing my wheel out. When it didn't work they took a look at my bike right away and even showed me what I can do on my own to do some preventive maintenance. Yay 2020! 2020 Cycles will forever have a soft spot in my heart. The guys here really listen to your bike issues and 9 times out of 10 will offer to take care of it same day while you go grab a beer from Chuck's or a coffee down the street. They are happy to give you advice and even how-to's to empower you to do your own bike improvement. Super happy to have this unpretentious bike shop in my neighborhood! The guys working here are super friendly, welcoming, and don't make you feel like you don't know anything about bikes even though you don't! I've come in here twice now and they've been quick to drop whatever they're working on to make sure I got what I needed and out door! The first time was to purchase a bike rack - I told them I didn't need much and I got hooked up with a super simple but functional rack and they didn't try to upsell me on anything more than I wanted. The second time was just this week. I got new bike pedals and wanted to switch out my old ones. I tried doing it myself with just my toolbox with no luck, and I recruited some stronger friends to try to help me but we couldn't get it done without a pedal wrench. I brought it in and they got them off in less than a minute, installed my new ones for me, and didn't charge a thing! They seem busy with tune-ups (quoted $110). At the beginning of summer they were booking out about a month in advance and now in the fall their schedule is filled out a week. Schedule your tune-up early if you need one. I'm very happy to support this local business and will be going to them for all my bike-related needs! read more

I bought a used bike from them eight years ago, and it was OK but a bit overpriced. They were recently super racist to my friend, though, so I can't recommend them. Recycled Cycles and the Bikery are great, check those establishments out instead. read more

I will say it appears they are trying but they are incompetent and not very through. After a full tune-up and inspection the derailleur failed on the first ride. They replaced the derailleur with a used on3 only to have it fail again on the first ride,. They tried to have me modify my bike saying the part was unavailable. I waited five weeks with no contact. When I went to check on my bike they informed me it would be another two months! I got the part number and found many many sources for this part on the internet and from other local bike shops. It had been available all along. If they can't find a part readily available, suggest unnecessary modifications at added expense, and make a customer wait 5 weeks without trying to find an alternative to their single-sole supplier, I can only say they have poor customer service and lack of professional skill and ethics. read more

Couldn't have been nicer and checked all kinds of things I hadn't thought of... My bike had been in 'lockdown' for nearly 2 years. Once I could get to it, it needed air and a bit of other attentions. I called, they weren't busy, got my tires inflated, chain oiled - it was thorough and pretty quick for the thoroughness. I'd been here before but not in years, still the same community-feeling, same great service -- it's one of those places that just makes the CD/Seattle a rewarding place to live. This is a small neighborhood bike shop; full service with some retail. Opens at 11:00 AM on Saturdays which seems a bit late on weekends, considering most cyclists I know go for a morning ride to find problems or need something for their bike. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable with good advice. They are not hesitant to make recommendations even if it means checking out another place. This is an indication that they care about their customers and are listening to what their needs are! read more

If these people governed the planet, there would be contentment around the globe. I went in with a few issues that needed to be attended to. Brakes, gears needed adjusting. Some parts needed to be replaced. I got good advice. My bike was put into excellent riding condition..like new. Everything was completed in a couple of hours ( off season ). They called to tell me it was ready. The cost was more than fair. I was delighted. Now all I need is an auto mechanic of the same quality and ethical standards. read more

Every other shop I contacted had me scheduled for two plus weeks into the future. These guy took the bike and fixed is all up at the same day, back to perfect condition and at super reasonable price. I've been going here for years, ever since Velo Bike Shop moved from Capitol Hill to Belltown. Velo was fine, and where I bought the bike I still love nine years ago. But when they moved, 20/20 was my one bike shop option close to home. A few blocks further away than what I used to have -- I'm all about convenience -- but I guess I can live with that. The thing is, the guys at 20/20 over the years have truly proven themselves to be great, and worthy of my loyalty as a customer. And just yesterday I went in to buy a new pair of pedals (because my old pair had gotten seriously janky), a helmet headlight, and a helmet rear view mirror. To say the guy was helpful would be an understatement. He took the headlight out of the package to show me how it fits onto my helmet; installed the pedals for me (which apparently they do for free anyway); and then even took the initiative to fill the tires, even out the brakes, and replace a bolt he found to be missing on the back fender wire where it attaches to the wheel on one side. It was like I got a quick, mini tune-up as a bonus with the pedal installation. The pedals were great, by the way -- far better than my old ones -- and only twenty bucks. Bottom line, these guys are friendly, helpful, and reasonably priced, and they have been for as long as I've been going there -- about four years now. read more

20/20 Cycle is a gem of a bike shop. The customer service is classic Seattle--a little aloof but knowledgeable and helpful. They replaced the fork on my 16-year old bike that is my surviving tie to a loved one and understood that my bike has a lot of sentimental (and functional!) value to me. They did it in less time than quoted and explained what happened. Don't let the shyness throw you off--great service, very helpful and always lots of cool stock to check out. read more

A couple of years ago I purchased a used bike from 20/20. This year I noticed that the rear tire seemed to deflate over time. I took it in the replace the tube. They evaluated the tube and tire and noticed that there was a defect inside the tire that was rubbing against the tube causing the hole. They offered to replace the tire and tube for free. I said no, that is not fair. So they only charged me for the tube and Labor and gave me a free tire. read more

I am sick of walking into bike shops and being treated lowly because I do not look the part of a typical biker. It's so stupid. I don't own a car so I bike everywhere and I am not interested in explaining this to someone who has already decided they are better than me because they are a bike kid to the max. Fuck that attitude. Not the situation at 2020 Cycle. My tire was stolen and I had heard good things of this place from a friend of mine. I put off going in for as long as I could because I just didn't want to deal with another bike natzi. But I was going though serious bike withdraw, I needed my bike fix. I broke down and went in. As soon as I walked in I was comfortable. Kids from the neighborhood were hanging out talking to the owner and he greeted me as I walked through the door. He offered the option of new or used tire, which is great. Recycling is awesome so I went with the used tire. I was able to ask him questions and was not treated like a stupid girl for not knowing the answer. The experience was so great that I have since shed my bike shop fears. Supper friendly and helpful and I am only going to 2020 Cycle from here on. read more

I was on a hunt for a bike and been all over town- who would've thought it would be so hard to find a bike for a short girl? Recycled Cycles? Nope- nothing under a 52 (which is huge, btw.) REI- nothing under $600 bucks. Craigslist- nope. Finally, a friend suggested 20/20, called them up on a Friday night in the middle of July, asked what they had in the 46-50 cm range, and low-and-freaking behold, THEY HAD 2 BIKES! HOLY CRAP! I raced up to the shop as fast as I could, was greeted by them, and promptly shown both bikes. The guy explained to me the pros/cons of each bike, and then he sent me off on a test ride around the block on both bikes. As a cycling newbie, his patience with me was awesome, as I had no idea what the heck I was doing- from the gear situation, to the funky brakes, to the adjustment of the seat. It was quite the adventure and it was nice to not feel judged like I had at the other shops I had gone into. Their selection (at least to me) felt great- compared to the other places, prices are great (comparatively to other shops) and they specialize in older bikes. You're not going to find the fancy new stuff here, but you will find some awesome old bikes here that have been maintained well. They sell lots of gear, including locks, seats, helmets, etc. but I keep coming back for the friendly service, cute guys (is that so awful of me?), and knowledgeable dudes. Additionally, I brought my bike back in one week after I bought it b/c the front brakes were squeaking and they adjusted it no problem. They remembered me and were super excited to see me back in the shop. Gotta love customer service like that! read more

Despite this, the guy helping me was very friendly and a little funny. He gave me good advice, and it didn't seem at all like he was just trying to sell me any bike, but was concerned with fit and my needs in a bike. Cool shop with friendly, attentive staffers that specializes in making old bikes operational again. And they will not rip you off. I brought my old Japanese beach cruiser here to have its valves replaced (because its original valves could only be found in Asia or the British Isles and we had lost the little special attachment that hooks up to our air pump so I couldn't inflate the tires). Now that it has regular valves, I can inflate the tires using any old bike pump. read more

My brother recommended 2020 Cycle to me, and I'm so glad he did. I walked in a few months ago *so scared* of being looked down on or snarked at for not being a bike expert, having been burned by Recycled Cycles' attitude. Not scared of someone making me feel sad, but scared of losing my s*** and punching someone in the face. Fortunately, my apprehension was for naught! This place is so chill, with open space inside and the door open and friends/employees/whoever coming in and out periodically. I ended up being helped by a guy...I wish I could remember his name. While he was working on a bike, I started off asking about types of bikes, what I would be using one for, my budget, etc. It was cool because when we were talking about stuff, he would point things out on the bike he was working on. When someone he knew came into the shop, he said "Let's go out and look at her bike, it sounds like the kind you're looking for," so we did. They don't have a lot of bikes for fix-up/sale there at a time, and so it may take a few times dropping by to find a good match. That's just how they roll...I didn't see any new bikes, which is nice anyway--why not salvage old ones? Luckily, I somehow found one I loved and that fit me the day I went there. After informing the guy that I was in love with the bike frame, he started making the arrangements: they would fix it up--seat, wheels, handlebar grips (or whatever those are called), pedals, everything it needed since it was a pretty torn-up/naked frame. for me to reserve it and pick it up. It was awesome because the experience was, on the one hand, totally no-pressure, but then clearly the guy wanted to help me and give me the information I needed/wanted. I wasn't made to feel stupid. And they worked with my budget! I said "around $400", and I think the total was $452. YAY for 2020 Cycles! It's totally worth the distance from my place to come here. read more

One night while riding my bike in the rain and towing a case of beer up Union I thought out loud, "this sucks." I could've cared less about Lance Armstrong being able to take enough drugs to make Elvis blush; I knew he could've gotten up that hill regardless. Shortly after that thought left my mind---BOOP---my front tire popped and I ended up on the ground. There I lay and all I could manage to scream was "F€£K YOU, LANCE ARMSTRONG." Scraped up and all, I was still nonplussed about the drug thing. My care for the matter still unflinching in the aftermath of how much lying Lance did. The next morn I brought my broken down motobecane to this place and all I can remember was this guy yammering in my face about all the great stuff he's done in "the scene" around Seattle and all these bands he knew and yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda and how great HE was...I just needed to get my tire fixed. Tell me about TIRES, MAN,--anything--LANCE ARMSTRONG EVEN. Not your life in the knife trade. I respect you a lot more now, Lance. If I had to deal with bike fixer dude as much as you did I would've busted a spring long ago. I would've lied to them until milk curdled. I understand that you had to lie in an effort to get them to shut up so you could get out that door alive. You lied to the entire world and remained totally unrepentant. You had to do it to protect their fragile little brains. I could never make them understand that this old bike is a necessity, not an opportunity to own pink handlebar wrap or to take up space outside the bar where motorcycles should be. read more

First of all, I got a solid used bike there for a good price. Secondly, I must go in there whenever Alex isn't working, because the service I've gotten is pretty lackluster the couple times I've been there. When I went in there first, I walked around for about 10 minutes checking out bikes, and the two workers in there pretty much ignored me. When I talked with them about stuff and various bikes I was interested in, I got pretty short answers to my questions. They were helpful to some degree, but just didn't show any interest in really helping me out. So I got the bike, and it worked out pretty well. Next time I went in, I was looking for some parts and tools. Again, very little interaction with the workers there. Also, the selection of parts was pretty much slim pickins...I was looking for some new grips, a mirror, and a few other things, but their selection was small, to say the least. I like the vibe in the place for the most part, but it would be really nice for them to have a bit more robust parts selection and people a bit more interested in helping customers out instead of just doing their work. read more

If you want a bike just like one you can see in the Tour, go somewhere else(with enough money to buy a used car). If you want bike parts that work well or want to fix things on your craigslist used bike, there's probably no better place for you. Don't expect too much; this is a small shop with a focus on community and kindness. They're more than capable of working on your race rig or your commuter, but you should come here for the awesome editorial selection of parts(only parts with good value-to-performance and value-with-style ratio are offered new ) and dedication to making bikes unique and useful. read more

This review is coming a little late, but 20/20 Cycles made my day. I needed to replace the new seat post that I had purchased from REI that was .02mm to big and was now stuck in my frame, sticking out 12", making my bike unrideable. I walked in one afternoon and was thinking there may have been no hope. After 10 minutes of pulling and yanking, the post was free. We had to try 3 different posts to find the right one, and they even bought the old one off of me. I left there totally happy and able to ride my bike! It was a great experience and I will definitely be going back there. read more

20/20 Cycle was the only shop I could find in the area that would both box and ship a bike. I was leaving town and needed to get my bike shipped out to Colorado. This was also problematic for me as I don't have a car and was hitching a ride with a friend. Alex (owner) was very friendly and told me he would help out however he could. His charge for boxing was less than $50, where other shops quoted me at $75 and above. They only sell used bikes there though, so they don't have bike boxes on hand. I had to go find another bike shop to get a box from. Friendly service at a bike shop. Sad to say that's surprising these days. They only get docked a star for limited selection. read more

Just even talking about this place makes me happy. I am not a performance rider, but I take pride in the the parts my bike has (and, because I am shallow, I like how it looks). Cannot emphasize enough how welcoming, awesome, and accommodating this staff has been to me in the year I've been going here.
