This is a very authentic, highly knowledgeable bike shop. They do great work and they have kewl bikes. Full stop. But, even more than that they are helpful when you just need a big wrench to get some pedals off an old bike and onto a new one! Or you need some help getting a tubeless tire off its wheel because the beads are so tight now! Feel super lucky to have it close by! read more

$33 for 6 feet of no name shifter housing. I cannot find a fancy shifter housing anywhere near that price on the internet. Felt ripped off and I will not return. read more

Romain at Polka Dot helped me out with a full tune on my Transition Sentinel MTB. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. My coil shock had to be sent back to the manufacturer which they fit in with the rest of my service. They were very thorough and explained everything in detail. Competitive prices as well. My bike is running beautifully! read more

They literally told me they wouldn't work on my bike because it was a race bike and poorly kept. (news flash: at-least I ride it). I presented them with a clear description (& videos) of the issue: creaking bottom bracket and screeching rear hub. I even sent receipts of what had recently been replaced on the bike, so they knew what they did not need to do. If you don't want to chase the problem, and aren't confident you can fix the issue, convey the response to the customer in a more tact way (which does not insult the owner). Similar experience with my wife's bike, who separately brought the bike in for service without me involved. They over-charged and set her up with garbage tires that won't stand a chance on seattle city streets. Equally garbage grip tape. Understanding your customers, and their use case, is the number one key to a successful business. Polka Dot does not have this understanding. Look elsewhere. read more

Matt, and his team of people are awesome. Matt has a deep understanding of the industry and he is very knowledgeable about mechanically work across the board, I respect that he operates with High Standards and Integrity. I enjoy the fact that Matt has conviction and courage and is willing to share his opinion, it is so refreshing Thanks for all that you all do!! read more

The Polka Dot Jersey - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Had an unexpected mechanical on the 2nd ride of a new bike... Came in a bit frazzled and lowkey upset about it. Rolled down the hill to Polka Dot Jersey. Matt fixed me up right to manage home. My only complaint is that he refused to take my money :) Proper shop. Great vibe and valuable service. read more

I walked into this shop last Friday afternoon and none of the three employees were wearing masks. As in, the masks were around their chins or necks, they had NO MASKS ON. I was also not greeted, and the young men behind the counter were too preoccupied with the computer and bike repair to ask me what I needed. Unfortunate stereotypical bro culture. read more

These guys knock it out of the park. It's a small shop and they are fighting the space issue, and still cranking out high end repairs. Mechanics are highly knowledgeable, saw one of them won race cascadia, it's a gem along lake Washington BLVD. Stop by and say hi to the shop dog Sammy...pets are free. read more

The Polka Dot Jersey - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Absolutely great staff and management. Right off the burke and near shopping / restaurants' it's q great place to take a break from a ride, or to chill while getting repairs done. They are extremely helpful if you need advice or a quick fix. I came in with a frozen chain, when I didn't have the tools to deal with it during a ride (mine were stollen from my condo parking garage). They took care of me right away for free! Of course I came back for tune up and they did a great job for reasonable $ and faster than REI would have done it (and possibly better) PDJ is a small owner/operated shop so you're not dealing with a faceless business where you don't even know who manages the place. Check out polka dot jersey to at least get a feel for the vibe, and come back when you can to get good work done fast and at reasonable $$ read more

Knowledgeable, friendly, high quality stuff in the store. Staff are great too. Saved my neck on a ride a number of times, highly recommend.

I went to this shop to have them fit me for a custom built Co-Motion bike. I ended up with an $8000 bike that doesn't fit. The fit process was lacking and I didn't feel they listened to my concerns and instead talked me into something I didn't want. Extremely poor customer service. Matt doesn't return emails and is usually "out" when I called to ask questions. It took him forever to get anything done and to get back to me. I ended up dealing with CoMotion directly and they were somewhat better. I wasn't happy with this experience at all. I have had two Rodriquez bikes built by R&E in Seattle and ended up going back for a third after the failed experiment with Polka Dot Jersey and CoMotion. I recommend R&E over them any day. read more

Looking for a spot in Seattle to care for your precious mountain bike? Go see Roman and the crew over at PDJ! I took my beloved stanta cruz hightower there for service ahead of a 7 day mtb trip in Durango and he got the bike DIALED. You can tell when talking to Roman that he is passionate about his craft and focused on what can be done to get your ride where it needs to be, no more no less. This is my shop. read more

I've stopped in a number of times for a quick derailleur adjustment and the like, most recently to inquire about a new wheel set. I ultimately went a different route on the wheels, but the level of communication and impeccable service during my interaction with PDJ left me super impressed. Matt and the team are among the very best mechanics in the Pacific Northwest, hands down. I'll be bringing the Cannondale by for service soon, and I look forward to chatting bikes with the guys. Seattle's best. read more

Excellent service! He staff here is awesomely friendly and not a hint of pretentiousness is to be detected like other bike shops in the area. All too many times I've walked in to cycling shops as a novice rider without a massive spending budget to only be treated as second class by elitist, enthusiast types. If that sounds like your experience in the past, visit polka dot jersey. These guys are super nice, super professional. My frayed shifter cable was replaced for me while I waited and cost just over 20$ and 20 minutes. This is gonna be my go-to cycle shop from now on - cheers guys! read more

A true neighborhood gem! I was riding along the lake and had a problem with a loose water bottle cage. I went in looking for a bolt and they said they wanted to come out and take a look. The mechanic then proceeded to change out the bolts I had for allen wrench compatible ones that he said you had better purchase on and were more reliable. He absolutely wouldn't take money for it. Then, we were riding by again and had a problem with our drum brake. Same story. They did a 10 minute walk through of the brake and did a bunch of testing. In the end, it was a manufacturing defect, so they helped us figure out how to mitigate for the ride home. Again, wouldn't take a cent. Such great people. read more

A total gem. These guys have high end knowledge without the snobbery and without the inflated prices. They took time to explain and discuss options. Plus their location is ideal - easy parking or right along the lake on bike. I took my Trek there but they have an eclectic mix of bikes they are servicing. Happy to have them nearby. read more

I have both of my bikes serviced by Matt & team at the Polka Dot Jersey...after one tune up it was an easy decision to make this my primary shop. Matt takes his time and is obsessively thorough with EVERYTHING. Not to mention the location is awesome, right off of Lake Washington blvd. Whether you just need some new brake pads or are interested in a totally new machine, they will provide the best service and knowledgeable feedback every time. There is absolutely no attitude or pushy sales-y crap here. I'm proud to support such an honest, local business. read more

Nice shop, no muss no fuss. Did the winter overhaul, for $150 they stripped the bicycle down to the frame and cleaned and put it back together. I didn't recognize the bicycle when I got it back, it looked new. But that's cosmetic and 14 or so rides later and it looks like it used to. What's really important is the work, and these guys did a great job, and they guarantee all the work. I say go there, support the little man. read more

Not a single bad thing to say. They will fight suppliers for you. They will stay late for you. Matt and co. will help you in every way possible. As someone else said, "They get it." Matt Telmas is one of the best dudes in the entire international global worldsphere. (And of truckin' course there's bike parking!) read more

Once again I was mid-ride and stopped in for a quick check on something and this time I wasn't surprised at all! I got the service that I quickly saw was the norm last summer! I LOVE this shop and the guys who were there Friday, Chris & Matt, provided great conversation while I waited! Helmets off to Polka Dot! read more

This shop is absolutely the real deal. They totally know there "stuff", have great service, are thoughtful and knowledgeable about gear, and are all around great to work with. I recommend them totally, and have on a number of occasions. If you need a new bike, some new gear, or service, consider them as a top choice. read more

LOVE The Polka Dot Jersey! Thanks to Jay for fast, affordable tweaks to my brakes and Matt for a great conversation about how a bike fit can make my Soma nimble AND comfortable - even though others have said that was impossible - and give me specs that I can use to optimize fit for all my future bikes! Super-happy that the crew at the bike shop closest to my house knows their stuff! read more

I am not impressed with this shop. It is the closest to my house, so I want to be able to go there. But when I went in they treated me like I didn't know anything because I was a girl. I got a flat and asked to borrow some tools and they condescendingly said "Oh, that is a common problem. I can help you fix that." After I explained that I have changed a tire over a hundred times, I was reluctantly given a wrench. Then, even though the store was empty, I was asked to finish fixing my flat outside when I was almost done anyway. I felt insulted when I left this shop. This shop seems to be for those with bikes over $1000 and bikers who only ride on weekends in full gear. For people like myself, who are everyday bike commuters, they will treat you like you don't know anything and you need a mechanic to do the simplest tasks. I would not recommend this shop. read more

Nice small bike/repair shop with kind and helpful people.

I pulled a bike out of my closet today, and had the pleasure of dealing with Matt for some basic maintenance to get it back on the road. If I could give this 8 stars out of 5, I would. He is an exceptional business owner and person. I will happily take my bikes to his shop from here on out. I will tell everyone I know that needs bike repairs to get to Leschi for all their servicing needs. Couldn't ask for more, top notch in ALL regards. read more

These guys get it. They care about bikes and those who ride them. Matt stayed an hour and a half after closing last night to get my degraded shifter working again so I could race cyclocross today. He and Bob also worked with me every step of the way in building up my bike. When unexpected issues with parts arose, they took care of it. Running a small business of any kind isn't easy in the age of Amazon, but these guys are doing it right and for the right reasons. read more

good mechanics are hard to come by. good mechanics who are honest and will tell you what you need and are affordable are like unicorns... i have used PDJ for years as my main mechanic despite living across town in West Seattle I will always take my bike for all repairs and servicing. I have been racing and riding high end bikes for 25 years and have experience with many shops from California to Seattle and I would place PDJ among the best most friendly group anywhere. read more

Walked into this shop while on a long ride. Was in the process of putting on my mask when bro behind the counter with his hat turned backwards say "we're gonna need you to put on your mask". Duh dude. Then I asked him if they had shot blocks or some type of nutrition. Bro with the hat turned backwards say "I think we have some scraps around". Ah great bro. Thanks for your table scraps. Then when I went to pay, I was taking out some cash. Again bro with the hat turned backwards say "we don't take cash since Covid" I was like... ok then can I just use my phone? You have tap or Apple Pay? Nope, we don't have that, he says. Then I said "so you're not going to sell me these at all? Bro with the hat turned backwards says, "sorry man". So don't go to this store and expect excellent service. You'll just get a bro with his hat turned backwards and they offer table scraps. Plus retail price on a package of shot blocks is like $3. I had the money. And a whole carton costs the store wholesale of around $24. Even if multiple people who need a little push on a long ride were to ask for free stuff, the store would lose a whopping $24. Maybe bro with the hat turned backwards should work on his customer service. I left and said "you guys are f-ing ridiculous. Later bro! read more

As a 60 plus year old native of Seattle I've gone to a lot of bike shops over the years. Matt is an exceptional business owner! I highly recommend using this shop for all things bike related. Char A. read more

I've had a wheel rebuilt here, cables replaced, and countless other little fixes. And I keep coming back because they're always attentive, friendly, and straight-up. To have any local bike shop nearby would be good; it's especially fortunate that mine happens to be the Polka Dot Jersey. read more

I took my bike in for a general maintenance and tune up to include having the wheels trued. What I got was described as their deluxe maintenance package. What I received was a bike with essentially two flat tires, chain and sprockets which had not been cleaned except maybe whiped down with a rag, and a foot clip hanging by one loose bolt- all for a $145. There was a clear lack of attention to detail. Every other bike store I've ever used has done a thorough cleaning of chain and sprockets in a general maintenance. Bob, the general manager of the store, explained that he was not responsible for the service area. I wanted to use a close, neighborhood bike shop but came away disappointed. read more

took my 'vintage' racing bike to this shop today to get it serviced after many years of neglect, and it is now as good as new! Andrew, the head mechanic, is fantastic! Very knowledgeable , professional and nice, didn't make me feel like an idiot (I know very little about bikes) or pressure me in to any unnecessary work or accessories. And, he did the job in record time. By far the most pleasant experience i have ever had at a bike shop! read more

Great service! They did great work on my commuter bike. Andrew, the head mechanic, took all the time needed to explain what options I had available. They're in a wonderful location to cater to hard core cyclists riding the Lake Washington loop but I felt entirely comfortable rolling in with my old beater that needed some fenders installed and some cable work. It's a cool scene on Sunday mornings when many cyclists gather nearby at the coffee shop and stop in to inflate their tires. I'm very happy to have an enthusiastic owner in this shop in a great location. read more

My fiancé and I drove into a garage this morning with the bikes on the roof rack. It ripped his saddle off his bike. Sunday morning 9 am for a 10 am group ride start time. The only bike shop I knew open at this time was PDJ. I called up and Matt answered. I asked if they carried the particular saddle we had broken. Upon learning our situation he encouraged us to come and use a test saddle to get us through our ride knowing it wasn't the same type we'd likely buy. He looked over my fiancé's bike and slapped the test saddle on with a smile and genuine kindness and patience. He looked over my bike to make sure it was safe to ride, found the saddle rails were bent and spent 10 minutes bending it back and repairing it. All for zero payment and no purchase by us today. All with the utmost friendly attitude. This is incredibly uncommon these days and I would recommend this shop for their kind and knowledgable employees and service to anyone. It made our day and saved our ride! read more

Awesome crew of workers who clearly love their job and want to help. Matt once mentioned he likes being called Uncle Creepy ;) I'm from out of town but will stop in their shop any time I'm in the area and need some help. I've been in here a few times this year. Every time, Matt has been extremely helpful. There's none of that stereotypical snobbery you run into sometimes in bike shops. Today he diagnosed a problem on my friends bike (at no charge) - and then quickly fixed a broken spoke on my bike and got us back on the road. I just wish I lived closer, this would be my "go to" bike shop. It's also pretty amazing that they open at 8:00a on weekends. Cycling needs more shops like this. read more
