The big ol box and the cargo motor make it easy to carry lots of stuff. I ride my wife in the box to Cap Hill for date nights, wife + kid to Madrona Park for beach days, kid + groceries, etc. I now go weeks at a time without driving our car. The folks at Dandelion have been super helpful and responsive. Our Packster had a defective part that needed to be replaced (for free, under warranty) and needed to be shipped from Germany. I must have been visibly stressed as I walked out of the shop (not looking forward to juggling drop offs for two kids with one car) because Tyler ran out after me and offered to let me borrow one of the demo bikes until our bike was fixed. I don't know of another bike shop that would let you walk out with a bike like that and hold it for weeks. It totally saved our bacon and was much appreciated. In summary: ditch the car, get a cargo bike because it's better. Get it at Dandelion because they'll take care of ya.

I only noticed this shop opening up over the summer and hadn't dropped by until recently. I wish I had sooner because because the other local bike store wasn't much help to me, not nearly as much as Angle Lake Cyclery was for me today. I could tell he wasn't out to make as many dollars off me as possible but rather make a new customer eager to return the next time good help is needed. Initially came in for a tube after calling, ended up returning for a tire. Probably returning tomorrow for the same 2 things just because the bike I'm working on had the tires stabbed and incorrect tubes were installed by the previous owner and only realized once they became problems. I'm very happy I don't have to return to Aaron's Bicycle Repair because each visit there I'm made to feel stupid for the questions I have or for whatever it is I'm working on. God I hate that guys attitude.

For years I've gone there, sometimes for simple fixes. More often than not they either sell me a tool and a part and walk me through it. Or, they throw it up on the rack and fix it pronto for a reasonable price. Their bikes aren't the highest end around but that isn't why you go there. A solid commuter or road bike at a reasonable price! These folks rock! Good advice, decent equipment, and fair prices. Can you ask for more?

When I picked up the bikes, the staff were all super nice and helpful with getting bike ready to go. They don't rush in getting all the paperwork done and made sure I was comfortable with the hike before I rode to back to my hotel. Highly recommended for any rentals and they have a lot of decently priced parts if you need to replace anything.

I spent over $6,000 at this shop -- and apparently that doesn't buy you even baseline customer service. I bought my bike here, and after a front wheel/tire failure caused a crash, I went through a Giant warranty claim with Montlake. The product side eventually got resolved, but dealing with them was frustrating from start to finish -- and the real problem wasn't the logistics, it was the attitude. If, however, you have a questionably overpowered long-tail cargo bike running a custom Bafang BBSHD mid-drive setup that may or may not have been engineered during a caffeine-fueled "more capability and power is always a good idea" phase... these are your people. I rolled in with what can only be described as a mechanical riddle wrapped in an enigma of wiring harnesses and torque sensors. My Bafang BBSHD setup had become inhabited by a small tribe of mean spirited electrical gremlins. I'm capable with bike mechanics, but this had gotten over my head - I was bracing for a massive bill (maybe significant part replacements). Instead, the team at Alki Bike & Board just... handled it. Calmly. Confidently. No drama. No upsell. Just pure competence. The bill was less than 1/10 what I had expected. This crew is overseen by a guy called Dayton - I'm not sure if he is more Thor or Hercules. On one hand, he seems like he could summon lightning directly into a mid-drive motor. On the other hand, he has the calm, slightly amused strength of someone who has already defeated twelve labors involving stripped bolts and cross-threaded bottom brackets. Either way, the man is operating on a different plane. He diagnosed the issues quickly, explained everything in plain English (instead of "mystical bike wizard dialect"), and fixed the whole situation for a small fraction of what I was mentally preparing to pay. I debated for a couple of years whether to electrify my road bike. I had ridden it for probably 10…read moreyears and loved it. I didn't want to spend thousands on an e-bike and have two bikes to maintain. Bike Swift was really good at setting expectations and addressing concerns I had about extra weight, braking, and changing the feel of the bike. After picking up my bike, there was an issue with what turned out to be a non standard bottom bracket. They were diligent about figuring out and fixing the issue quickly. I've since gotten a bunch of rides on my converted bike and am really happy with it. As we had discussed, it still handles well and braking is not an issue. As a plus, the system they use is very configurable as far as customizing assist levels so that even with the extra weight, a 7% assist level makes it feel just like my bike did before conversion. I would have had to pay probably $3,000 to get a lower weight e-bike that did not fit me as well as my bike still does, and am really glad Seattle has a shop that provides this service.
