I debated for a couple of years whether to electrify my road bike. I had ridden it for probably 10 years and loved it. I didn't want to spend thousands on an e-bike and have two bikes to maintain. Bike Swift was really good at setting expectations and addressing concerns I had about extra weight, braking, and changing the feel of the bike. After picking up my bike, there was an issue with what turned out to be a non standard bottom bracket. They were diligent about figuring out and fixing the issue quickly. I've since gotten a bunch of rides on my converted bike and am really happy with it. As we had discussed, it still handles well and braking is not an issue. As a plus, the system they use is very configurable as far as customizing assist levels so that even with the extra weight, a 7% assist level makes it feel just like my bike did before conversion. I would have had to pay probably $3,000 to get a lower weight e-bike that did not fit me as well as my bike still does, and am really glad Seattle has a shop that provides this service. read more

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I travelled 2 1/2 hrs to another bike shop for a bike they said had in stock and then did not. I found Bike Swift via Aventon website and called. They had the bike in stock and said they could assemble it for me the same day, which was a big ask on my part. I ate lunch a few blocks away and when I went back my bike was ready! This bike store specializes in converting regular bikes to e-bikes. I couldn't be happier with the result. Now I can take advantage of Seattle's many dedicated bike lanes and trails without worrying about making it uphill from the waterfront to Second Ave. And when I had a problem with the system (random power outages), they diagnosed and replaced the potentially troublesome parts for free. Henry and Martin were so helpful when I was picking my bike out. I was relatively new to bike riding and they let me try on a few models and helped me pick the right accessories to be comfortable for long rides. Since the initial purchase, they've also helped with little upgrades I've wanted like a bike stand and nicer lock. Each time they are super thorough with the bike service. I also just ordered a new charger to California after losing my old one. Finally pulled the trigger a few months back and converted my Marin. I live near the Arboretum at the foot of one of the biggest hills in the city. Getting to work on bike was almost impossible. Henry talked me through the process and was an exceptional listener - a skill often lost these days. I bought the front wheel hub assist and have had the bike now all summer. I ride to work several days a week. If I want to get more exercise I either turn it off, remove the battery, or ride in the lowest of the five e-bike settings. I have the best of all worlds. I would not hesitate to recommend an e-bike conversion, nor would I hesitate to recommend Bike Swift. They are unpretentious, thoughtful, and fair. read more

Finally made the transition... It took me three long years, several hundred research hours and way to many Youtube tutorials before I finally pulled the trigger and went with Swift. I read an ad on Craigslist one day scrolling through the used Ebike section and came across a newly placed ad by the team at Swift Lake Union about a Ebike shop that specialized in conversions only, was this the answer I've been looking for? Evidently it was and Martin was a fantastic help! I had been wanting to convert the bike I loved in to an electric machine but every shop I spoke with just tried to talk me out of that far fetched idea and buy one of their bikes except for Martin. At Swift they have the same earth friendly approach as me, why buy new if you already have a bike you like and enjoy riding so we looked at converting it, the entire process was very straight forward and even though they had beautiful bikes sitting right there in the showroom next to mine for about the same price... I was the one that brought it up as a possibility maybe I should go New not Martin, which was the exact opposite as the other bike shops. Excellent service! I hired a bike for a week and had no issues with it. Was well serviced and catered for my needs perfectly. I'm 6ft 4in and about 260lbs but the hybrid bike was great. They informed me that due to my location they couldn't deliver nor collect which I had no problems with. They would have refunded me if I couldn't collect it myself. The sales guy was very friendly and offered good advise since it was my first time in Seattle and cycling in the US. I returned the bike a little later than expected and they were pretty cool about it. The guy texted me to inform me well in advance that he would be there when I returned the bike so he left me clear instructions on what to do when I did. After extensive e-bike research, I left my belt drive bike with Henry at Bike Swift and after only 1 day was rewarded with a completed conversion. Everything about the experience was positive: clear and concise explanation of the various options, a similar bike available for an extensive test ride on my first visit, all my many questions answered, and outstanding, clean, quality work. The results are as good as I had hoped or better. The less expensive and preferred system with my internally geared rear hub is their front hub option. The bike is still well balanced, has ample power for even the steep hills, goes plenty fast, yet encourages lots of peddling for a good workout when I feel like it. I opted for the greater capacity battery and so far have exceeded 65 miles on a single charge. Follow up questions have all been answered right away, either by phone or in person. Bike Swift added their Meridian (1 HP) motor to the rear wheel of our folding cargo bike, which we use as a family bike to haul 75# of kid-weight up hills. It works like a dream. Updating my initial review after having an electrical failure on my Swift. I depend on my ebike for transportation and although the battery was fully charged, it suddenly stopped providing power. I emailed the shop with details. I was still under the 2-year warranty (which I had forgotten about), and the responded quickly and told me that if they could fix it in a few hours, it would take no more than a day. It took a couple of hours, there was no charge because it was under warranty, there was no haggling about whether for some reason it wasn't covered by the warranty, and I haven't had the problem since. I feel like my e-conversion was an even better value than I had thought - having the 2-year warranty be so hassle free is worth a lot to me. And I am pretty sure they were busy but maybe prioritized me due to the bike being under warranty? Just a very good experience, again. My first review: I converted a bike to electric here last fall and yes, life changing. The process was easy, Henry and Martin are always friendly, clear, straightforward, and let you know what to expect in terms of turnaround time and total costs. They also really understand bicycling for recreation AND transportation, they don't try to upsell, and they keep their word. I got the Swift model, and wondered if I shouldn't have gotten the higher powered model, but I made the right choice. One thing I appreciate about their kits is that you can turn them off, so if I'm riding downhill or on flats without a load, I can really get a lot of mileage out of charge. For example, by using the battery selectively, I used only a half charge on 40-mile loop from Capitol Hill-520-Cross-Kirkland Corridor-Sammamish River Trail-Burke Gilman ride, which left me plenty to get back up the backside of Capitol Hill and home. tl;dr Both the product (Swift electric conversion system) and the service are amazing- can't recommend Bike Swift highly enough. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews already! This is long overdue and should really be three reviews: 1) I live at the top of a big hill and slogging up it, on a heavy steel upright city bike while hauling a toddler, was getting old. Last year after much deliberation I had the Swift system installed and it turned bike commuting into such a joy; it completely 'flattened out' the city and made everything quicker and more accessible to get to. So much so that I actually kept on bike commuting through the winter rain and darkness for the first time (which I never have in 9 years living in Seattle, despite my good intentions during the warmer summer months). My regular bike shop recommended Bike Swift, and when I took my bike in for the first time I was really impressed that the Bike Swift staff took the time to really discuss my options (including whether it actually made sense to install an electric conversion system, instead of just buying a ready-made electric bike?). Opted to go ahead with the electric conversion and was really pleased with the result- the assist worked seamlessly. I was hesitant it wouldn't have enough power (the Swift was the only model compatible with my particular bike, since the higher-powered Meridian won't work with an internally geared hub), but those fears were unfounded- plenty of power for big Seattle hills even with a heavy bike, rack, basket, toddler + Yepp kid seat, and a full load of gear and groceries. My bike (a Civia Twin City Step-through) was a tough install, with extremely tight clearance for the battery, but they made it work, which I'm grateful for. 2) My converted bike described above was actually stolen, which was so disheartening. After saving up, eventually decided to replace it and went through the whole debate again- to get a ready-made electric bike, or buy a new bike in a style I like and do another conversion on it? Ultimately went for the latter and had the Swift installed on a new bike, an internal hub Simcoe Step Through. Have been riding it for the past 8 months almost every day and it's held up great, no regrets. But locking up every time with both a heavy duty chain and U-lock together! 3) To compete the saga, my stolen bike was just found through Bike Index (thank you to the Seattle bike community!). A known thief was trying to sell it online. And... Henry from Bike Swift actually helped recover it, un-asked for. Stellar customer service and good people. read more

struggling uphill to work is no more... its a glide to the top and down again , the workout comes with flat power-off pedaling by choice... the battery lasts for weeks on a charge. the motor is quiet...Henry at Bike Swift took means my friend for a ride and I was "taken" , next to add the motor to my much loved bike...( quite a bit cheaper than buying an electric bike ) months in now, through rain sleet and snow, I am so happy "flying" along on my bike!
