    Swytch kit interface

I bought a Swytch kit thinking I could do the install myself and was completely out of my depth. Henry not only helped me install the kit but took me through a number of options for converting my bike to make sure I was making the right choice for my needs. He offered custom solutions to improve this out-of-the-box kit and walked me through how everything worked so that I could be better equipped to do the maintenance on my own. These folks are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and happy to support experts and folks new to ebikes alike. Thanks for making my commute bikeable!

These guys are awesome. I was just buying a couple parts, but that were incredibly helpful in explaining everything and offering suggestions. I was looking around while waiting, and they've got some really cool bikes and conversion projects in the shop. Finally, I know most shops don't have any inventory at the moment, but they've got a bunch of cool Marins that appeared to be available. Plus, they've got the coolest bike lift I've ever seen!

    First ride.

Finally made the transition... It took me three long years, several hundred research hours and way to many Youtube tutorials before I finally pulled the trigger and went with Swift. I read an ad on Craigslist one day scrolling through the used Ebike section and came across a newly placed ad by the team at Swift Lake Union about a Ebike shop that specialized in conversions only, was this the answer I've been looking for? Evidently it was and Martin was a fantastic help! I had been wanting to convert the bike I loved in to an electric machine but every shop I spoke with just tried to talk me out of that far fetched idea and buy one of their bikes except for Martin. At Swift they have the same earth friendly approach as me, why buy new if you already have a bike you like and enjoy riding so we looked at converting it, the entire process was very straight forward and even though they had beautiful bikes sitting right there in the showroom next to mine for about the same price... I was the one that brought it up as a possibility maybe I should go New not Martin, which was the exact opposite as the other bike shops. Long story short, after riding a couple of their bikes I decided to convert my old bike and was happy I did, love it! Go see the team at Swift you won't regret it I promise!

Contacted them through email about wanting a Marin bike and they were very quick to respond, very helpful to answer any questions I had. Once the bike arrived to their shop, they assembled it within a couple hours and was ready for pick up the same day! Very impressed with how quick and reliable they are.

They replaced the motor and back wheel on my Ancheer. I'm sure I won't have a problem changing the back tire when this comes up.

Friendly and low stress. They were able to bill me electronically when I forgot my wallet and needed a bike lock.

I was originally looking for a used bike but they only had two in my size that were both road bikes. I tried them both but ended up going with a new gravel bike that was a bit more all-purpose! They have a lot across the street where you can try out the bikes for as long as you need. I ended up testing out four diff bikes, and they were super nice about all of it even though it took me forever. They didn't have the color I wanted, but they let me know how to order it online and have it shipped there so they could build the bike for me. They said doing it this way is the same as buying directly from the store! I still get all the benefits like 30 days of free accessories installation and such. My partner also got a used bike that was in great condition!

UPDATE: After posting this review, it somehow got worse. On a later visit, an employee -- who I…read moreunderstand may be a part-owner -- confronted me about the review, followed me out of the store, and called me a "chicken shit" on my way out, blaming me yet again for the entire situation. I'll let that speak for itself. A business that responds to honest, factual feedback by chasing a paying customer out the door and throwing insults has told you everything you need to know about how it treats people. This update wasn't something I went looking for -- it just confirms the exact pattern I described above. REVIEW: I'll stick to the facts. I spent over $6,000 at this shop -- and apparently that doesn't buy you even baseline customer service. I bought my bike here, and after a front wheel/tire failure caused a crash, I went through a Giant warranty claim with Montlake. The product side eventually got resolved, but dealing with them was frustrating from start to finish -- and the real problem wasn't the logistics, it was the attitude. From the beginning, I got the clear sense the shop saw me as an inconvenience rather than a customer. Communication was poor across essentially everyone I dealt with: no timely updates, no callbacks, no straight answers, and I was the one chasing them at every step. More than the delays, it was the tone -- dismissive, condescending, and openly impatient any time I asked a reasonable question about my own bike. One phone call summed up the whole experience. A staff member told me to "chill out dude, you got a new bike even though it was your fault you crashed it," and to stop "beating a dead horse." Talked down to, blamed, and brushed off in a single call. It's also just wrong -- it reflects a basic misunderstanding of how Giant's warranty and crash-replacement programs actually work. I don't expect a shop to agree with me on everything, but I do expect basic respect -- especially as a customer who put thousands of dollars into this place. The product issue got sorted out eventually; the attitude is why I won't be back, and why I'd point other riders elsewhere.

If, however, you have a questionably overpowered long-tail cargo bike running a custom Bafang BBSHD mid-drive setup that may or may not have been engineered during a caffeine-fueled "more capability and power is always a good idea" phase... these are your people. I rolled in with what can only be described as a mechanical riddle wrapped in an enigma of wiring harnesses and torque sensors. My Bafang BBSHD setup had become inhabited by a small tribe of mean spirited electrical gremlins. I'm capable with bike mechanics, but this had gotten over my head - I was bracing for a massive bill (maybe significant part replacements). Instead, the team at Alki Bike & Board just... handled it. Calmly. Confidently. No drama. No upsell. Just pure competence. The bill was less than 1/10 what I had expected. This crew is overseen by a guy called Dayton - I'm not sure if he is more Thor or Hercules. On one hand, he seems like he could summon lightning directly into a mid-drive motor. On the other hand, he has the calm, slightly amused strength of someone who has already defeated twelve labors involving stripped bolts and cross-threaded bottom brackets. Either way, the man is operating on a different plane. He diagnosed the issues quickly, explained everything in plain English (instead of "mystical bike wizard dialect"), and fixed the whole situation for a small fraction of what I was mentally preparing to pay. I didn't believe him when he told me. Bottom line: Extremely knowledgeable Honest pricing No ego, no attitude Dayton = certified bike demi-god If you are near West Seattle and your bike needs anything beyond a gentle pat on the saddle, this is the spot. 10/10.
