My experience with bike stores runs the gamut but these folks were super friendly and helpful, even though it was clear our interaction wasn't going to lead to any sales. Ended up chatting with Aaron for 15-20 mins about bikes, Seattle and anything else that came to mind. Really easy going shop with genuinely nice folks working there. Good people building and maintaining good bikes. Great Seattle location. On the sales side, top notch. Work hard to get you set up and make you happy. From a maintenance side, it's not the best shop in Seattle, but honestly who knows who a good maintenance shop is any more. I have had some issues, and been charged for repairs to repairs that didn't work. I've also had "Oops, our bad, only parts" charges as well. I still use, but make sure (as we all should) to communicate what's what so there's no issues on the post repair rides. read more

I have used this shop 4 or 5 times and have always received the most courteous and prompt service. Today I needed a minor repair on my trike and the owner, Mike McKean took the time to do the repair even though he was short staffed for the day. In addition he spent time trouble shooting a power meter problem that I was having. This type of service and thoughtfulness is priceless. Check out this bicycle shop. I came today with my sixteen year old son to test a rather expensive bike I might be arranging to purchase for him as a gift . I was required to give the store a 8k deposit on my credit card so that he could pedal the bike around the block , and briefly try its suspension . The store still has the use of my money . Instead of canceling first transaction they charged an additional 8 K when they told me they were voiding the transaction. I will need to report this the cc company in the morning and perhaps cancel the card . For sure , not good . They seemingly have nothing much for sale due to the pandemic , that's not their fault but fraud , in error really is a poor show . read more

You cannot find a nicer shop in the PNW. This place not only has the hottest, most unique bicycles on the planet, but it is owned and operated by one of the most knowledgable and passionate cyclists you'll ever meet. Shops come in different colors: some are for folks to go and get their kid his or her first bike; some are for average Joes and Janes that just need a bike to win the STP Race each summer. Some are for dirtbag gravity junkies. CBS is not one of those shops. It fills a different niche entirely. While most of the bikes at CBS that I have seen are high-dollar custom jobs, if you have a special request or a unusual fit requirement, there is simply no better shop around. Zac is a highly-skilled fit specialist, and he is also an active competitor in many different disciplines of cycling, so there is no doubt you're getting trustworthy information from someone who rides, too. read more

I'm not experienced in cycling, and was running into a bunch of problems riding my bike, which lead me to these reputable guys. I went in for a bicycle fitting with Zac, from the moment I walked in the door, Zac was very helpful in understanding me, why and how I ride. We made some major adjustments to my bike which resulted in a dramatic improvement. I was having problems with my feet and hands going numb and we were able to make a major problem go to minor for me which is a huge improvement. I would highly suggest anyone that loves cycling to stop in and talk to Terry or Zac, they are very professional and will earn more of my business. read more

I've been a bikey person since 2008, but only started racing bikes a few years ago. Although I was training hard, I just couldn't seem to tap my potential in races. Until I had a professional bike fit with Zac. My significant other had recently been fit at Cascade and sang the high praises of one of the other staff members, Dieter. I went in with high expectations, and Zac totally surpassed them all. He was professional and friendly, and it was clear as he worked that he is an expert at what he does. As soon as I made even half of the changes that he recommended, I started appearing on the podium at the races. I like to think that the bike fit played a large role in my being more nimble on my two-wheeled machine. I love this shop not only because it is in my neighborhood but more importantly because Zac and Terry are deeply involved in the cyclocross community. My autumns would be significantly less enjoyable without their MFG cyclocross events, and so I am thankful for their commitment to the cycling community. Rapha and Castelli are also my favorite cycling clothing brands, and, surprise, that's what they sell here. Do yourself a favor, and order a pair of the Rapha bib tights. Your legs will thank you. And your turbo trainer will hate you. read more

Kudos as a bike service shop. They might seem high end as a bike shop at first glance (and the bikes they carry are), but they are some of the friendliest shop folks in the Seattle area. An avid cyclist I know recommended Cascade to me, saying simply "they're the best in the business" and leaving it at that. With such brevity, I had to believe it--but the experience I had with them was better than I could have anticipated. First off, the place exudes a love and devotion to cycling without being elitist. Tough to pull off in a sport known for elitism. It's a minimal, elegant space, yet still warm and inviting. I first came to them with pretty simple issues, just a malfunctioning dropper post and rear wheel shifting problems on my mountain bike. Boring work. They handled it expertly, more quickly than I expected, and with clear, professional communication throughout. A couple months later I asked if they could build a wheel for me with a PowerTap, using a Chinese carbon rim from eBay--not exactly a simple request, and wheel building takes some proficiency. The care and attention they gave this matter, making sure to get everything right and ordering the right tools for me to have was simply awesome. Plus, they're really fun, friendly people. I showed up 15 minutes before closing time to get the wheel and they stuck around for about 15 minutes after closing, going over all the finishing touches and even adjusting my chain right on the spot to ensure it fit! They make everything look effortless. I absolutely love this shop and would trust them with anything. read more

All in all: not impressed. Perhaps my experience was a one-off, but it left a sour taste in my mouth and I probably won't return. Dropped in on a Friday afternoon, two guys were there: one was helping a customer, the other was yakking away. Neither bothered to address me, or acknowledge my presence. MY REVIEW IN SIX WORDS: Best bike shop in Seattle. Period. FULL REVIEW: Cascade Bicycle Studio is a gem. After spending several years searching for a great bike shop in Seattle (you'd think it would be easy given cycling's relative popularity here in Seattle), I was prepared for more mediocrity when I initially sought out CBS. However, when I walked into Cascade Bicycle Studio that first time, I knew it was different. Zac, the proprietor, took time to get to know me first. There was none of the sales pressure I had encountered at other shops or the cold shoulder given once the salesperson found out I wasn't buying anything that day. Zac not only listened but asked me lots of questions. I wasn't prepared for that, but left delighted. It wasn't until a year later that I actually worked with Zac on a bike project. During that process, I was impressed by Zac's attention to detail and his fitting expertise (Zac has extensive experience in this area from his time at Seven Cycles, a custom bike builder). Fast forward another couple of years and I've now worked with Zac on a total of THREE bike projects (commuter, road bike, cyclocross bike). Each one has further solidified my opinion that Zac runs the best bike shop in Seattle. In the time I've been a customer of CBS, Zac has opened his shop up to full retail hours (and grown his staff -- also friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable), grown the portfolio of bike brands he sells, became the only retailer in WA for Rapha, and he started some regular group rides led by his "CBS Ambassadors." However, none of this growth has diluted what is at the heart of the CBS experience - a great one-to one experience where you're treated with respect regardless if you're a hardcore roadie, a commuter, or anything in between. I highly recommend you check out CBS the next time you're in the market for a new bike or even the next time you need parts for your existing bike. You won't regret it. I won't go anywhere else. Super awesome service at a very cool shop. I was far from home and early in a long ride. My freehub was not installed correctly (probably by me) and binding. It's an American Classic wheel on a Campagnolo drivetrain, so not simple everyday stuff. Zac understood the problem and put it in the stand right away. Short time later and problem solved. The wheel was coasting smoothly. I got another 50 miles that day. Thanks CBS for the great rescue hub service. read more

Simply put, this place in gorgeous !! If you're a cycling geek like me, you'll freak out once you walk through their doors. Custom made bikes, high end performance bikes, Rapha cycling gear. They have it all. I've only been in a few times, but each time I've been met with very welcoming employees. Heck, they even let me take a Parlee out for a spin, which made my day. They also put on great group rides that are well organized and attended. Very much worth a visit if you're in the market for a new ride or some great apparel. As I was biking through Fremont on my way home in the middle of my day, suddenly the metal bar holding my bike basket in place snapped in half and the bike basket swung downwards. I was able to walk the bike over to Cascade Bicycle Studio. I showed them what broke, and they found a replacement piece and asked if I wanted to pay them to replace it or replace it myself. I decided to just have them go ahead and do it. I rolled the bike to the back and the repair guy replaced it right away, then when I went to pay, he said not to worry about the labor, and just charged me for the part. I was in and out in 15 minutes and it was a smooth, pleasant experience. I will definitely go there again. read more

Great clothing and fancy bikes for sure. repair, not so much... drove all the way across town to bring my high end bike in to them for work. they replaced a simple part but put on the wrong size without bothering to measure and sent me out the door apparently without test riding the bike. no surprise - disaster all around. found out the hard way as three day mountain ride was pure misery. profoundly amateurish mistake. not an error so much as just inattentive negligence. you can't judge a shop on one bad experience but you would expect more from these guys. stick with their retail selection read more

Zac's the master for custom bikes like Seven Cycles, high end accessories like SRM powermeters and Zipp wheels. Yes, this is not your typical bike shop and you need to schedule an appt ahead of time. Fantastic bike shop with extremely helpful people. I have been looking for a bike for daily commuting. They set up a bike for a test ride based upon my measurements. After the test ride, they made some modifications (including swapping parts) based on my preferences. I was impressed how willing they were to help me find what worked for me. I felt welcome and free to come back multiple times to test ride and discuss options. I interacted with three people - all were great. I am not an experienced cyclist. With children, it had been years since I have been cycling regularly. I had an old bike that I had purchased in Italy that I loved. Unfortunately, it was in need of much repair. I went to Cascade bicycle and worked with Terry and Jason. They were super helpful in letting me know what could be done to rehab my bike. Even though I knew little about modern equipment they took time to give me my options and help choose how I wanted to proceed. They recommended that I might buy a freewheel from a third-party for a better bicycling experience and were very patient in waiting for me to find one. Jason in particular responded to my e-mails multiple times to make sure I got what I needed. In the end, the bill wasn't even as painful to the pocket as I was anticipating. When it comes to buying a bike, the most important thing is finding a shop with knowledge and exceptional customer service. This is THE PLACE! After hearing about my friend's amazing experience getting her titanium Seven here, I did the same, without any "shopping around". Zac, the founder, took me through the entire process of getting a custom made bike and it was a pleasure. I picked their brains regarding all of the components and they spent as much time as I wanted without ever rushing me or making me feel like my needs were not their top priority. I have ridden my bike for 2+ years now and LOVE IT! Now the story turns "sad" as I had to ask for their assistance to get a new fork after getting hit by a car on my bike. When an ordering mishap occurred by an employee who was let go for such mishaps, Zac offered to have the fork made on a rush order the next day and shipped to me overnight at his expense. He then checked up with me several times including when the shop was closed to be certain that all ended well. Buy a nice bike here! With a bike, you totally get what you pay for.
