Taylor was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient with me as I tried on a dozen different shoes. I made a shoe fitting appointment online and was working with her for probably 90 minutes. The only reason I don't give the store 5 stars is that their in-store stock is pretty limited, despite selling tons of things online. There are no narrow width shoes, no sports bras in actual band/cup sizes, and no toe socks... Return policy is one month to try things out & return even if you've worn them, so we'll see if these shoes end up being keepers! read more

Xavier was incredibly helpful and kind. He took the extra time to explain everything and do measures and scans even on a busy Saturday. You can tell he's passionate about helping other athletes find long term solutions for their foot / back pain. The store also has a very wide array of different sizes that he helped us select from. Considering somehow the shoes were about $30 cheaper than what I've seen online, with custom size selection and the level of service it was a great value. read more

I scheduled an appointment to get fitted for a new pair of running shoes and couldn't be happier with the level of service provided. The store worker (Sergey if I recall correctly) was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, had me try on several pairs of shoes and try out different soles to see what worked best for me. I've only bought running shoes online or at a big box store with little/no professional help, so this was a big step up. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to get the perfect pair of shoes. Fleet Feet also seems to offer quite a lot in terms of a running community. read more

When I walked in, the person behind the counter didn't acknowledge me at all, and it took several minutes of me looking very lost and confused for anyone to say anything. After an associate finally said he would help, I said I was looking for a pair of good walking shoes (which have different needs than running shoes, but I was hoping for something). He took my measurements and let me know that I have very wide and short feet, and brought out two options. When I pointed out that I'd blow through the tread on both of them in no time, he sort of shrugged and indicated that was all he could do. When I pointed out that the options wouldn't work for me, he showed no interest in helping me find something else. It was very paternalistic and rude. read more

Wow, ok. Five stars all the way. I was admittedly intimidated to go into a running shoe store, despite having run almost every week since the start of the pandemic. Running can sometimes feel a little gatekeep-y so I was nervous. None of that was any concern at all and I learned so much. The folks working were A+, top notch, awesome people. I think the one who helped me was Kyle. Super rad. He walked me through the results of my foot scan and strike recording after I walked over a mat. Wow the technology! I had a foot scan at Nike a few years back but was unimpressed and they were kinda snobby about it. Fleet Feet is real people. I'd been looking for a replacement of the out of production racing shoe I'd been using but Kyle opened my eyes to the world of light weight but also supportive shoe technology. Got some New Balances and insoles that fit great with my super high arches and instep. Who knew?! Took them for their first ride today and boy oh boy what a difference. Worth the time and money, and they recycled my box in the store and upcycled my old shoes. Yes, you can just give them all your garbage and walk out handsfree hahaha Thanks guys!!! read more

I was very excited to get a pair of running shoes. I did my research and choose to go to Fleet feet in Ballard because of the great reviews. What I experienced was disappointing. The sales guys almost seemed reluctant to help me. One pointed me to the section of shoes and let me know I could get an assessment if I wanted one. I picked some out that I found nice. I watched and listen as other customers came in after me and received helped. As soon as they came in they were asked what kind of shoes they were looking for, what kind of runs they went on and if they'd like an assessment as well. The level of service was VERY different and apparent to me. I tried on two pairs and the sales guy was nice and pulled the sizes. He suggested I check out another retailer when the store didn't have the shoes in my size. I agreed and left. Mainly Im disappointed. I am new to running and the running community. I was hoping to receive some help. But I'm glad I came in! Will know what to ask at the next retailer! read more

It was nice being able to set up an appointment with our new world of Covid and they had areas taped off for a good separation while trying on shoes. The man helping me was super understanding and knowledgeable as I went over my foot issues and the type of shoe I thought would help my condition the most and he agreed. I wasn't able to make a decision while I was at the store but went onto their website afterwards and selected one of the shoes he was showing me. I really like the return policy as I still have not fully decided if this is the right shoe or maybe the right width but I know that I can exchange in the store and get something different if it doesn't work. It makes it worthwhile to shop local when you know you have this flexibility an expert help. read more

I had the best experience here. They spend quite a while determining your shoe needs based on your arches, gait, foot shape, bunions & foot size. So plan in being here for more than 15 minutes unless you've already been through the fitting process. The sales gal took a scan of my feet, watched me walk & asked a lot of questions. She brought out 3 brands of sneakers for me to try on & I loved 2 of them. I wore one out & ordered a 2nd pair in another color than what was available. I'm not athletic, I have nerve pain in one foot & had no idea that my feet have gotten longer & wider. Definitely go see these folks for a great fitting! read more

When I came out the employees were at the front on their phones and didn't acknowledge me. So glad to have a Fleet Feet in Ballard so I don't have to leave the neighborhood for running gear! Popped by during a walk with my dog (who was welcomed right in!), and they happened to have the exact shoe (Hoka Clifton) I'd been thinking about trying. The salesperson, Emily, knew the brand well and suggested I go down a whole size, and she was exactly right. Also snagged new socks and a tank, and was pleasantly surprised to see a good mix of legacy and new clothing brands in the store: Brooks, Vuori, Bombas. Will be back soon for a new sport bra and phone armband. Other observations: clean space; store is organized well despite an odd physical layout; custom orders available for items not in stock. Only thing missing was a jar of dog treats! UPDATE: Store manager Brian saw my review and now has dog treats on the counter! read more

I was debating whether to give 1 or 2 stars. First off the store is clean and the layout is done well. The running shoe selection is centered around Hoka, NB, Brooks, Northface, etc. Good brands IMO. Now the bad news. Have you ever been in a store where none of the shoes/items show their prices? When you ask you get some bullshit answer like "well let's see what feels right and blah, blah, blah". When retailers aren't transparent and don't display any prices (SRP, our price, etc) it comes across as very shady! Anytime I've bought things at a place that don't display pricing I've always felt strange and often have had a bad experience such as paid too much, bought something 3 years old, etc. There is no reason not to be transparent about pricing unless there is something weird going on. Even if you are charging list, just be up front and everyone is better off during their shopping experience. read more

I need a new pair of walking shoes with velcro closures. When I walked in, I was met by Brian. Brian was amazingly helpful. They have 2 interesting machines for making measurements. The first machine builds a 3D image of your feet. They can take this image and E-mail it to you, so you may sit in the comfort of home and take a look at what your feet look like. They have another machine that measures the forces your feet apply to the floor as you walk. Bipedal locomotion is fascinating: your feet have to hold you up but they also have to thrust you forward. In a normal gait, your heel touches down first and then as the other foot lifts and moves forward, your foot rolls forward until finally you push off with your big toe. I knew that from high school anatomy and physiology, but actually seeing it really drove it home. They did not have the shoes I wanted in stock - but that's not surprising as the store is relatively small and they can't keep everything. Brian was happy to refer me to the New Balance web site. The New Balance website reports that they, too, are having problems keeping shoes in stock! They are probably in a container somewhere in the middle of the ocean. read more

Had the most incredible experience here yesterday. I cannot remember the name of the girl who helped me but she was so kind and patient with me as she helped me figure out the right shoe for me. I explained that I was a total novice and had no idea what I was looking for, and she spent probably a good 25 minutes just walking me through everything and helping me find my perfect walking shoe. I cannot believe how nice she was and how comfortable she made me. I find stores like this so intimidating and I left feeling so happy and satisfied!! I couldn't decide what color of shoe to get but she was so chill about it and said it didn't matter, that buying it in-store only lets management know what colors people are wanting. They only had one color in store so I waited till I got home to buy them online from their online shop, but I'm just so glad I went in. What a great shopping experience. i am fairly new to running and had a bad experience ordering online, so i wanted to try cash and carry. I cannot say how glad i am that i chose FF in Ballard. I was lucky enoguh to work with an adorable young man named Kyle who was incredibly patient, kind and knowledgable. They scan your feet (we truly live in the future, lol) and find the best fit. The shoes i ended up getting have been a game-changer in my running and i cannot tell you how amazingly grateful i am. cannot recommend them enough. read more

I don't give 5 stars liberally. This place is amazing! I came in 30 min before closing because work kept me late, but their employees were still enthusiastic about helping me. They genuinely cared about my needs and weren't pushy about sales at all. Sales at its best is just good service. And you know it's good service when you feel like tipping when you don't have to. They're workers are all runners who have marathons under their belts so they're all super knowledgeable. I left with new insoles for my shoes that felt great after a 1hr tempo run. They even trimmed them down for me to fit my shoes perfectly. I'm sure they'll be great on the half marathon, after the 50mile bike race, after the 1.2 mile openwater swim race . I also bought a Coros Apex GPS watch. Even though they only carried at their other store, the owner went to the other store and brought it over the next day just for me! Even though Fleet Feet is a popular franchise, Brian, the owner, runs it like a small business focused on community. He even leads the night runs at both store locations in Seattle. I love how they have complimentary massage chairs and an arcade there. I will be a life long advocate and customer here at Fleet Feet Seattle! read more

I stopped in at 6:37. They close at 7, so I apologized and said I just wanted to take a look around. I wasn't planning on purchasing. The young man working told me not to worry about it and if I had any questions, feel free to ask. The next thing I knew, he was answering a million questions for me. He then offered to do a foot scan. He got all of my information and brought out three different shoe recommendations to try on. I had questions on the differences between all of them and he knew the facts. Though it wasn't in the plans tonight, I ended up buying an awesome pair of shoes!! I was visiting Seattle to see my daughter and after coffee and visiting another name brand store that sold running shoes that put me off completely, my daughter suggested Fleet Feet. We walked in and I was greeted by Brian. I told him at the age of 63 I was NO runner but I needed a good pair of walking shoes. Well, he knows his footwear and I was completely impressed. He analyzed my walk, my feet and everything. He showed me three different brands (including a pair from the other Flagship Store that starts with a B) and I walked out with a great pair of walking shoes. I've never been happier and I cannot thank Brian enough. The whole experience in this store was nothing less than exemplary. Best retail experience I've ever had, hands down!! I came to Fleet Feet on the recommendation of a friend and I'm so glad that I did. The sales associates (dangit i forgot their names!) were extremely informative, friendly, honest and upfront throughout the entire process. They measured my feet and had me walk on the pressure pad thing and explained to me what the numbers meant and then picked out some shoes that they thought would work for me. They were patient and helpful with my questions and were honest if they weren't sure about anything. Overall the dynamic was comfortable and I could tell that they weren't feeding me BS like you'd get at other places. There was zero pressure to buy anything and they let me try out a bunch of shoes, a few different socks and some insoles. They even let me run with them around the block! Although a bit lengthy (the entire process took about an hour) I would recommend it to anybody looking to get a pair of running shoes. I typically try to order everything online and avoid most stores because I don't like the sales pressure but I'm so glad I came in and got to leave with a. great fitting pair of shoes at a good deal.
