Breakfast
Orest S.

I got breakfast there for less than $9 (crumbled eggs, 2 sausages, bacon, hashbrowns and coffee). There are no such prices in DC, especially in Georgetown. It is a buffet with no lines. It is definitely not a fancy place, but great place for a quick breakfast.

Check out their noodle bar. Big serving and so delicious. The woman at the counter that day was so nice. The place is clean and cozy.

Please bring back the old sushi place on Epicurean! The chefs are nicer and the sushi had more selections and delicious options before Epicurean partnered up with the new sushi place. The sushi in the new place is bland and the rice is falling off unlike the old one where everything is intact in my sushi. I also found something disgusting inside my green dragon roll and am not coming back again. Two stars are because it used to be good, and the noodle place is decent, but I give it a 2/10 for the new sushi and its sanitation issue. They advertise fresh sushi, which is the irony when you had some mysterious thing in your sushi. Not coming back again unless it's for the noodle place.

Was there today and saw a Mouse run across be the cashier counter and they were calling numbers and they were all over the place like they. Make so many tenders and fries calling numbers then burger ect.

I'm a fan when it comes to certain aspects. Construction be damned, this is pretty much the only consistent food I can get around the med campus day round. To be honest, most of the food will get old super quick or is overpriced. The sandwiches, noodle bar and sushi bar are definitely better than mediocre, maybe just over average, but will get monotonous after a while. There is a decent amount of change within the hot food bar - which will change between breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus even day to day - but the problem is how expensive it comes out. The only way you don't break the bank is if you get a box of nothing but leaves; otherwise a solid plate of everything you want is easily double digits. I think the only really solid deal is ironically the bar. Basically an Applebee's that doesn't suck. The sandwiches and other entrees are mostly from the sandwich bar so don't be alarmed at the lack of prices. But everyone seems to love the appetizers that comes out around dinner time - stuff like boneless chicken wings and mozzarella sticks are cheaper here than any restaurant in Glover or M Street. That combined with a decent tap, I'll take that and a Guinness most nights.

If I could give it 10 stars I would. Epicurean delivered immaculate flavor. Just wish it was a closer walk to my dorm. Fine dibing experience for sure

Epicurean is an interesting joint - they do asian dishes, sushi, sandwiches, they have a massive salad bar, and in the morning a fairly substantial breakfast buffet. There is also a full service bar here to get your drink on! I arrived very early at Georgetown University Hospital for my spinal appointment. So I ducked in here to hang out, grab some caffeine and a bite. I hit the breakfast buffet and created a plate of breakfast goodies: sausage gravy over biscuits, a hash brown, one pork sausage patty, one turkey sausage patty, a couple of slices of bacon, and a scrambled egg mixture with sausage, cheese, and who knows what else! You can also get coffee and espresso drinks. There is plenty of seating here. I'll be stopping in here during future visits to see the Doc!

When your sushi chef is wearing gloves (he was using to make your sushi w/) to hold a pen and then go back to what he was doing

I just started working for MGUH last week. I had food from the hot bar for consecutive 3 days and was pretty satisfied. It is pretty expensive (even having come from Manhattan, NY) but I was willing to let that pass for consistent, high quality food. However, today will be the last day I eat here. I am currently sitting at the sushi bar and while throroughly observing one of the sushi chefs, I noticed he is not meeting standard hygiene precautions while handling our food. For the past 20 minutes I've been sitting here, he has not once changed his gloves. The guy is CONSTANTLY working on sushi, then holding pens, then touching order forms, and bending down and pulling/pushing all drawers located beneath him. It's quite appalling and I've already lost my appetite but thankfully my sushi was made from the other chef next to him (who is only handling food). Please see attached photo of the guy writing something with his gloves on. He then of course proceeded immediately to making maki rolls for the next customer. Disturbing and disgusting. Bon appetit.

This 5/5 review is only for the sushi bar. The two main chefs are exceptionally friendly and talented, the food is always fresh and artfully prepared, and the offerings include both standard sushi rolls and creative pairings. The sought-after seats at the sushi bar are definitely the best - where you can watch the chefs prepare each plate masterfully. Unfortunately, the sushi bar is only open M-F (but the chefs are so friendly, you wouldn't want them to have to work weekends). The specials here are an exceptional draw -- 1. The lunch special: for $9.95, you can get a miso soup, salad, and either a) a california roll and 5 pieces of nigiri or b) 2 of the simpler rolls (think spicy tuna, salmon avocado, eel cucumber). This deal runs from 11-2:30 and is tough to turn down. 2. The sushi happy hour: from 3-7pm all nigiri are $1 per piece (usually an order is 2 pieces for $4-6) -- and just as fresh as during peak times. This is a great way to try some more far out options (squid, baby octopus) or make a great dinner on the favorites (salmon, yellow tail, tuna). 3. The fancy rolls are worth the price: the volcano, viagra, and las vegas rolls are fantastic. The non-sushi service is relatively slow (I've had to refill my own water several times and the check takes longer than the food), but the casual ambiance makes this a non-issue. One thing to note: it's on Georgetown's main campus, right next to the medical center, so its main customers are doctors, students, and patients. It's absolutely packed during lunch hours but also offers a quiet place (The restaurant also offers made-to-order sandwiches, some better than others, and a per-pound buffet for each meal. They have standard and high-end snacks as well - chips, protein bars, sodas, coffee, desserts. And a full-service bar. The recently opened noodle bar seems plain and over-priced, though I have not yet ventured to that corner of the joint.)

Works well as a convenient store. But I wouldn't recommend eating food here. The Chinese food is terrible. The fries are super huge.

Excellent service, the food was great and not outrageously priced (considering the area), and looked amazing inside! The decor and the lighting is makes it a cozy and intimate place but also great for a large party as well We booked our experience during restaurant week, we love trying out new places and their restaurant week menu offered a little bit of everything. We got some champagne to start, ordered some cocktails after, and the food started rolling in. We started with a caviar bump, and moved into the beetroot salad (which was amazing and so flavorful, we both wanted more), had the Tataki/carpaccio style followed by the nigiri/sashimi, then for the main course - the winner/volcano lobster roll. We didn't want our night to end there, there were so many great options in the menu so we opted to hold off on our desert and ordered some more food We got the sushi dinner dish to share along with the lavender smoked salmon Tataki style. Definitely could've eaten more after but decided to end our night after that, and had our ice cream to finish the night (matcha ice cream and raspberry sorbet) The service was 11/10, our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and all of the other waitstaff was extremely kind and was more than willing to help us with any questions or things we needed. The restaurant was very clean and they had nice bathrooms. The quality of the food was amazing and every dish had us hungry for more. This is definitely a place we'll be coming to again and will be recommending to everyone

For anyone seeking actual good sushi, I'd recommend looking elsewhere in Georgetown. The service was polite and the location was great, but that just can't make up for the food. The fish lacked the freshness and quality I'd expect even at a casual spot. The rice was bland and the rolls felt more like basic grocery-store sushi than something made with care. Portions were OK for the price, but the ambience was spartan and the overall experience fell short. I don't like being negative or writing bad reviews but Khin's truly is average at best. It might be okay for a college student looking for something quick and cheap, but it is not a legitimate sushi restaurant in the traditional sense.

The space is small with a few indoor tables and a few outdoor ones along the sidewalk. We ordered two sushi plates a person and it personally wasn't enough for me. I was happy the menu was digital or I would've looked like an old lady with a flashlight trying to read the menu. The happy hour was menu had lots of options. I got the tuna tatami and Amazonica roll. Both were delicious. For the drinks they only had 3 options and a selection of wine or beer. The drinks were a pisco sour, a lychee martini, and a japenese whiskey drink called the umami. I lived the pisco sour. The lychee martini was also tasty and was a popular by most of the patrons at the bar. Now I will talk about service before I skip to dinner. The bar staff was not very friendly. It is a small bar but the beginning of happy hour was pretty slow. I got there around 5. They make great drinks and when the kitchen brought out the wrong thing they did correct it but it's not a staff I would strike up a conversation with. They get the job done. Being seated was very difficult. The bar is so tiny, the host were pretty rude about where you could drink your happy hour drink. Even going so far as to tell a group of ladies they had to literally stand behind the people sitting at the bar. It was just very awkward and uneccesary. We also closed our tab with the bar but they refused to seat us and made us stand by the door and finish our full glasses before they seated us. I just have never experienced that. Dinner was tasty. I highly recommend the churasco roll. We had the salmon squares, hamachi yellowtail, another amazonico roll, and the ceviche Mercado. The ceviche is also delicious, highly recommend. Alll the fish was very fresh. The flavors were unique and the dishes were so interesting. I would definitely still recommend this place. I think it's great for a date night and if you can get to happy hour early enough to grab a seat. Grab your friends and try to make it to their R&B night too. The hosts if the night introduced themselves at every table and were walking around checking on everyone.

The ceviches and crudos and such are all fine, but they're not good. It makes it hard to want to enjoy them at all. Service is nice and friendly, but understaffed. Everything took incredibly long. Why are they understaffing this place?!? Especially at the prices. The cocktails are actually pretty good, though the wine list is uninteresting. It's a fine spot if you're looking for a quick meal in Georgetown, but it's not a destination spot by any means.

I remembered a review in the WaPo when it opened said that Onggi had a spa like atmosphere -- I was in! The lunch menu has several options, but it appeared everyone in the dining room had the lunch combo for $38. I was craving soup, so I got the short rib soup, but my dining partner got the combo. However, dinner caused me some issues: I got glutened. My partner and I went for my birthday dinner. I had been wanting to try Onggi because I love Korean food and their menu says that it's been crafted to avoid gluten. They say that only the asterisked dishes are not gluten free. But I got glutened. Even though we didn't order anything asterisked and I let the server know that I have celiac. My partner has been trying to reach the manager to find out what had gluten in it. But even with multiple calls, he can't reach them. (Not a good sign.) We wanted to be able to say in the review which dish had hidden gluten, but since we can't have a conversation with anyone there, all I can say is stay away. If you do try it- and I understand why you'd want to- avoid the vegan bulgogi. I just have a sneaking suspicion that's what did me in. But the menu said it was gluten free, so--?? Also, go sometime when they aren't too busy. We were there on a Saturday night and I think they might have only had two servers on (with multiple table support staff). There was at least one large party, plus the regular tables, and two servers were not enough. It was very difficult to flag someone down and double check our meals or ask our server anything after they started to get busy.
