I was craving dim sum so i decided to try this place. The reason i ordered from here is because the prices were fair and they had many other options outside of dim sum or dumplings. I usually like to have some type of noodle dish or rice dish to accompany my dim sum. They have a couple different fresh noodle dishes that kept catching my eye but i settled on Dan Dan Noodles. I've had different versions of this dish from different places and this one was pretty good. The noodles were super bouncy and perfect. The flavor was on the sweeter side, not spicy and not very peanut-ty (which I personally prefer). The portion was huge. I was actually surprised by how much they give you. I also ordered spicy wontons, har gow and siu mai. They were all really good. The hot sauce was super good and actually spicy. I will definitely be trying more items from here in the future. Overall, we enjoy what we get from Epic Dumpling. We mostly come here for the XLB but have tried other items. The biggest issue for us here is the small size of the items given the price. The items are all fairly decent (XLB tastes good, but they are small with fairly thick skin, we've had better elsewhere), but you don't get much for what you pay. Other places seem to be much more generous with their servings / sizes for the same or lower price. When we've gone, ordering and service seem fine. It's nice that it's close, it's clean, and I would say reliable for the times we've gone. If you're looking for good, Epic is fine. If you're looking for great XLB or good value, you're better off looking elsewhere. read more

It has been a while since I visited Epic Dumpling, but it was a huge regret to come back. Ordered the Cantonese Shrimp Dumpling since I recalled it was decent, but today they are serving me the same exact one that you can buy from Costco frozen. It looked the same and tasted the same but they basically charge you 5x more just for the streaming service, WTF! They do have a few "auntie" wrapping dumpling live, but serving food straight from Costco is a new low. Will not return ever even though other dumpling are still "home made". read more

XLB - Shanghai Pork Soup Dumpling - A bit on the smaller side and they didn't have much soup inside - maybe, I waited too long to eat them. Could have used a bit more flavoring in the pork, but that's just me. Also wish they gave you a dish with julienned ginger. Beef Stew Noodle Soup - Very good and tasty. XLB - I had always thought the translation was Little Dragon Dumpling, but my friend who is Chinese literate told me the actual translation is Little Container Dumpling; I learned something new.  It was good, but not great. Dan Dan Noodle - requires mixing to get all the ingredients to incorporate, it was good but not great. Snow Peas - so fresh that it has a crisp snap to it when you bite it, also nice umami flavor.  Loved it. I've had Epic Dumpling twice. During the pandemic so the order was to go through DoorDash and recently I had a chance to dine in. When I first ordered to go, I thought it was really good and with dumplings, it will always taste better right when it served so dining in was a must! A little here and a little there... then here goes me over ordering per usual. Who doesn't love noods?! Dan Dan Noodles - Since every restaurant that serves Dan Dan noodles, will serve them completely different. I thought these were okay, it's more on the sweeter side than spicy. Portion size is very generous though. Beef chow fun - These were good but not enough beef nothing surprising though. I love my sodium so I always add extra soy sauce, vinegar, and hot sauce. Some places overcooked their noodles making it mushy but this place cooked their noodles well. Even reheating this dish the next day was good too. You win some, you dim sum! Siu Mai (Pork and Shrimp) - good! Tastes as expected Shanghai Soup Dumplings (XLB) - good! definitely doubling (shh maybe tripling) this order next time! broth inside was also flavorful w/ soy sauce, vinegar, chili sauce, and ginger. You are what you eat.. so dumplings? Pork and Shrimp Dumplings w/ Chive - good! will order this again Fish Dumpling w/ Chive - when I think of fish dumplings, I think it could go two ways. Either it's cooked to perfection with a slight taste of fish or the fish could taste too... fishy. Well, Epic's fish dumpling doesn't taste too fishy BUT the chives definitely took over the entire dish. It was more chives dumplings than anything. Could skip this next time. Lastly, spicy wonton - the wontons were good but I didn't think the chili oil that it was served in had much flavor and it wasn't spicy at all. It was actually very similar to the pork and shrimp dumplings, next time I'll double up on the pork and shrimp dumplings and skip these as well. There are SOO many options so I think if you've only had this spot once and you weren't impressed with your first options, I'd say come back and try other things on the menu! I've ordered here numerous times via Doordash, never stepped inside the small-looking strip-mall place, right across from Lozana's car wash. (Sometimes it's better to not actually see the place one orders Doordash from.) But the hole-in-the-wall vibe notwithstanding, the food is good. Shanghai soup dumpings awesome. Szechuan hot-oil dumplings amazing. Green beans are good but not unstrung, if you know what I mean. Fried rice is decent, not great. Potstickers good. I was craving more and more dumplings after the Lunar New Year so we tried out this spot! I loved that they have a huuuuge dumpling menu with combinations chicken, beef, pork, lamb etc with cabbage/corn/shrimp etc; along with fish dumplings and a couple of vegetarian options. Both the chicken and napa cabbage and chicken with corn dumplings we had were spot on and very juicy. The skin is fresh and on the thicker side. XLB was alright- I normally like my XLB skin on the thinner side, and this one was a bit thicker and a little soggy. I was impressed by our Wonton Noodle soup- the Pork/Shrimp Wontons were amazing and the bowl was huge with vegetables, thick noodles, and very tasty/hearty broth. Pea Shoots with garlic were also very yummy. Otherwise, they have a huge multi-page menu of other Chinese dishes as well. Located in a dreary little plaza with plenty of parking. Used to be our favorite Chinese restaurant that offered great food with great price. But it just went downhill from our last two times of ordering. Our usual orders just weren't as good as before. Chili oil wontons were not good anymore. No flavor and chili oil was not there. Basil bacon fried rice wasn't as good either not much flavor. Pan fried dumplings were not as good either. Gosh. Pretty decent food. The noodle soup that I got was not exactly what I had expected and wasn't anything to write home about, but the dumplings are good. They have a good chew on the skin and plenty of filling. They're definitely worth getting. The entrees are not bad either. read more

This place used to be truly Epic. Not sure if the ownership has changed recently. The food has gone from great to une Jiya ke. The dim sum was still ok but the fried rice, orange chicken and soup were worse than microwave food. Ambiance is non existing. Service is fast and they bring the food out super quick almost like they have it premade. This was our third visit and after 6-7 months but earlier it was an all women staff and the food was awesome. At least once a month when my sweetie and I are too tired to cook, we look at each other and say, "dim sum?" My advanced math skills therefore tell me that we've ordered from Epic Dumpling at least 48 times over the last four years The food has been consistently excellent. Can't speak to the service or the ambience because we've only had the food delivered to our house. But the food! The Pork Siu Mai are tender and richly flavorful. The General Tso's Chicken, one of my guilty pleasures, arrives at our house with the deep fried chicken delightfully crunchy and coated in that fabulous spicy sweet sauce. They have plenty of vegetarian options for my veg sweetheart, including broccoli tofu and spicy string beans and vegetarian dumplings. The vegetables in any dish are always fresh and never soggy. For non-vegetarians in addition to the things mentioned above I can also highly recommend the smoked ham with green beans, the spicy wontons, the lamb dumplings... Review on takeaway order. I placed an order via Yelp app and it was quick and easy. On a Sunday afternoon, they were busy inside. While waiting outside for my order to be ready, I bumped into someone I knew, so it was all good. Turns out they love eating here and recommend the place. When I got my order of pan fried dumplings, I literally ate it all in my car. They were hot and the juices inside the dumplings were warm and squirting when I bit into them. Couldn't got them all in my mouth in one bite, so it was a bit messy. But oh soooo worth it! Delicious and perfectly cooked. WOW, I will definitely come back for more! read more

We ordered noodles from Epic Dumpling in 2021. Not gonna lie, it was quite disappointing (see my last review below). Yesterday I saw Epic Dumpling on a takeout app and thought "hey let's give their dumplings a try, maybe they are better at dumplings." I was so wrong. I got one Shanghai Soup Dumplings (aka the famous XLB 小笼包) and one chive dumplings with pork. I took one bite of the chive dumpling and immediately noticed how thick the skin was. I thought "hmm okay maybe they didn't want the dumplings to break while boiling. The steamed soup dumplings would have thinner skin. Let me give that a try." Wrong again! Came here on a Thursday night and this place is great! Definitely a hidden gem. Good: No wait: we got seated right away and the service was quick. The pan fried soup dumplings were just right - very chewy and great flavor. The hot and sour soup here is really good - a bit spicy but still tasy. Prices here are great too! Very reasonable for the portion sizes you get which is huge. Bad: The mapo tofu noodle soup was a combo that didn't seem to sit right with my stomach - it was good, but it was a bit too much spice. We ordered hot and sour soup, which is loaded with ingredients and not too spicy for me. Shanghai soup dumplings XLB is ok, I like the soup that is not too greasy and the meat tasted ok, like other Yelpers I do wish the skin is a bit thinner. The shrimp and pork with chive dumplings are ok as well, the wrappings are soft and not overly chewy, so overall I had impression of the chives but not much of the dumplings as a whole. All in all not a bad place to come. The other table ordered pan fried cake and it smelled good, maybe we'll try their pan fried buns next time. read more

What a disappointment. I ordered lunch to be delivered via Uber Eats. Both entities failed big time (I will not mention what the Uber Eats delivery person did since it's not the right place. The restaurant's handling of the order was terrible and uncaring. I left a note (and checked the appropriate box) to include utensils. Guess what? The food arrived not only without any utensils but no chop sticks and...no napkins! Who delivers food without these BASIC items? I was forced to use ice cube tongs from my hotel room to eat my seaweed salad and try grabbing dumplings with ice cube tongs. All this restaurant cared was to fulfill an order and grab money. Unfortunately the soup dumplings were far from epic. All were congealed and stuck to the bottom of the container by the time we dug in. Some of the skins had burst open (on the top too!?) and had zero soup. I got two orders, and both were of the same quality. Granted, we did order these to-go, but we only live ten minutes away... The Dan Dan noodles were tasty but a bit on the sweet side. This was the best of the three items we ordered by far. I did appreciate that they packaged the sauce separately so the noodles didn't get soggy in transit and also allowed for the sauce to be adjusted accordingly. I thought I had ordered the marinated beef roll, but I got the beef pancake. That was probably my bad. Anyway, I'd think there's not that much difference between a beef roll and a beef pancake. Sadly, it was borderline inedible. The beef inside was so tough it was beef jerky consistency. The pancake was soggy and super greasy. Not even the air fryer could salvage it. Not much ambiance (think hole in the wall). No service to speak of, very straight down to business here. I called in my order and was quoted 15-20 minutes. Not sure if it's epic, but it was definitely delicious! Shout out to Annie and Cindy for planning a dim sum birthday lunch for me in the park! My first COVID birthday celebration. We ordered takeout, and everything was packaged really well. Food was still in yummy conditions. We tried a variety of things between the 3 of us: 1) Pork XLBs 2) Shu Mai 3) Spicy wontons 4) Pork and vegetable dumplings 5) Pan-fried buns 6) Scallion pancakes 7) Steamed chashu buns 8) Red bean sesame balls (deep fried) Besides the XLB not having much juice left since it did sit out for a little bit before we ate it, everything was yummy! This is one of those we-make-every-possible-thing-you-would-like Chinese restaurant. We sampled few that should gauge their skill level. TL;DR: not bad, will come here if happen to be nearby. The beef-wrap 牛肉捲餅 was supposed to be a thin shell wrapping beef slices seasoned with sweet sauce and green onion or leek. It should be the balanced combination of starch, protein, a bit kick, and some rich sweet. Their version achieve the flavor profile, but not the texture. The shell too thick and tough, the meat not sliced, and the cucumber just won't do it. The pan-fried bao 生煎包 has the right flavor, filling, the juice that flowed out when biting into. I would like a bit more doneness on the shell and slightly elevated flavors. Crab XLB 蟹粉小籠 was really good, but the crab part was too subtle. I should have just ordered the standard XLB to save a buck. They are all reasonable and I don't mind coming again. read more

A bit of a not so hidden GEM. Went here with my coworkers while on a sales trip. Three of us orders way too much including some experimental food. Literally everything was delicious. The restaurant itself is bare bones, but you are here for dumplings not decor. Xaio Long Bao were fantastic, the steamed buns and leak pancake were amazing. Kung Pao pork just the right amount of spice for the entire group. We have some kind of pan friend noodle dish whose name I don't recall but it was to die for. 10/10 would go again in a heartbeat Price was far cheaper than you would assume. read more

For all my plant based friends out there, this spot has a good variety of options for you. Dumplings are one of my all time favorite foods so it was awesome to see that there was a restaurant that offers a good variety of plant based options, and clearly indicates them as such on the menu! You must order their namesake. They have three vegan dumpling options, each at about $13 per order: mushrooms and bokchoy, mushrooms and napa cabbage, or a veggie mix with tofu being the main star. I am a mushroom fiend so I went with the first option. The dumplings come in a container of 12 along with a soy-vinegar and chili sauce for dipping. I also ordered their Soy Noodle w/ Cilantro ($7) as an appetizer. The dumplings here were pretty good! The skin was not too hard and you could taste the veggie juices inside each one. There wasn't a lot of broth itself inside the dumplings so I wasn't able to get that XLB experience I once remembered, but they were still good. As for the soy noodles, I'd probably pass on these as they weren't my favorite and I felt it lacked enough cilantro and chili oil to make it good. Switching gears to my roommate who is a heavy meat eater - he was able to enjoy some classics including the Beef Rolls ($7) and the Cumin Beef ($15). They both looked good from what I could tell, although the small Tupperware size that they use makes it seem like you aren't getting as much as other restaurants would normally provide. Not sure if it's just me or I'm just hungry and want more. There were a few items such as the Green Onion Pancake that wasn't marked as vegan, which was a bummer as it's likely one ingredient they use that makes it vegetarian. Still, you have a few options to choose from and I highly recommend their dumplings. So overall, stick with the dumplings if you are coming here. Other dishes didn't seem to do it for us. Yelp Bonus: They offer a 15% discount on orders if you check-in and can be applied to both dine-in and take-out. Outside was a typical scallion pancake, and the meat was tender and paired with crunchy marinaded cucumbers. // Pea Shoots Fresh leafy greens sauteed with garlic. So sweet, it tasted like butter. Small place, very friendly and nice service. Ordered dumplings, eggplant, sesame balls, spicy wonton dumplings. Everything was satisfactory, not exceptional. Might return but I went for the dumplings and dim sum menu and was unimpressed. On another note: the restaurant was very clean and tidy. Nothing suggests it is not satisfactorily maintained. That said, there are a couple of reviews concerning insects which are very disconcerting. I urge the ownership to get and post an inspection certificate showing high ratings for cleanliness. Anyone who's worked in the industry knows that "things happen" often even despite high standards. It's really tough on a mom and pop place trying to stand out when a couple reviews place doubt in potential diners minds. I came here for lunch on a weekday with my friends and their young children. Found this place through Yelp! as I tried to find an affordable place for a big group for a last minute lunch gathering. The restaurant is small so I've no clue how crowd it'll be during the weekend. However, weekday lunch seems to be the perfect time to be there if you are interested in dining-in. We ordered through the QR code and the food came out pretty quickly. Their dumplings are spot on - the size is right, the wrapper is just right, and the amount of fillings + the taste of the fillings is just spot on. We tried their pork with napa cabbage and shrimp with chives. Both are big hits among the group. Their garlic string beans is perfect - it has "wok air" and it's perfectly seasoned. Very tasty and definitely it's a perfect umami dish. In terms of service - I appreciated the ladies for taking care of us! We had a baby in our group and she knocked over a large cup of water in the middle of the meal. One of the ladies came to rescue with a towel to dry the table as we scrambled to dry the table with our napkins. And then another lady came with mop to dry the floor immediately before we even said anything. So this place is only good for dumplings. Everything else I ordered was below below average. The pork chop quality and preparation with the yellow powder shows the skill of the kitchen. Not to mention the beef noodle soup which took the biggest short cut and tasted like straight powder. Yunno that fake Mala that fills the whole floor ? yeah that's what this place reminded me of. Honestly I took a bite and threw it away. Waste of time , money and calories. I did learn something about this business tho for the price . I am leaving two stars because the dumplings was above average. The xiao long bao Squirts. I paid 50 for what I comfortably ate 12 dumplings and the owner can throw the rest in the garbage because the cook can't cook they can steam here tho . I am not the type of human to throw food away except when the food is doing more harm than good.
