    XLB and peasprout

My go to place for home cook taste. Ordered XLB, pan fried Shanghai dumpling, pea sprout, salt and peppered fish and crispy golden tofu. Service is very fast as usual, and at 5:30 we were the only table but there are many take out orders on the table. When we finished that take out table was never empty. I forgot to take pictures of the rest of the food as I was quite hungry.

Got the fried chicken bento for lunch and I was impressed by one portion size! There was a huge amount of fried chicken and rice. It lasted me more than 1 meal. I liked the minced pork under the eggs but wish it was less salty/oily. It tasted great with the rice though. The cabbage side was also tasty but a little too oily for me too. All the flavors of the different sides worked well together though. Would be curious to try their dumplings!

Affordable and good quality Chinese food in Sunnyvale! This restaurant was tucked away in a small plaza near the main street. The times I have come here, parking hasn't been an issue, but the parking lot does not offer a lot of spots, so that is one thing to keep in mind. At the front of the restaurant, you have open window access of someone making the dumplings fresh, which is nice to know you're getting handmade dumplings! When I first dined here, my friend and I ordered 3 things to share: stir fried green beans, crab xiao long baos, and dan dan noodles. The dish that stood out the most to me were the green beans as I felt like they're the most flavorful stir fried green beans I had recently. The xiao long baos were good and super juicy, however I didn't taste too much of the crab flavor. Dan dan noodles were standard but I liked it came with its own chili sauce that you can also take home! I would say the portion size for the dan dan noodles were HUGE, 3-4 people could've shared that. We were full and even had leftovers for both of us to bring back, all for roughly $20 per person. I would definitely come back to try more of their dumplings and other dishes.

Super hole in the wall find! I haven't had handmade dumplings outside of home, so finding this spot was quite surprising. Most of the dumplings I think are handmade. There are some exceptions (like the chocolate XLB) but I thought most of it tasted delicious - if you don't mind the thicker dough used for the dumplings and buns. I thought it added nice texture although that means you get fuller faster. So we definitely over ordered. If there was one thing I wasn't a fan of, it was the green onion egg pancakes rolls :( I think it fell short on texture since the egg and pancake were soft and in turn soggy in the middle. I was looking forward to this the most thinking it was going to share the same consistency as the green onion pancake typically at Chinese establishments but it did not. I also enjoyed the combination chowmein in addition to the various dumplings. Though, the picture showing thin egg noodles on the app was a bit misleading because we received lô mein noodles instead. Nonetheless, I was okay with it because I love thick noodles. The har gao was also one of my favorites! The skin wasn't dry or too thick and didn't fall apart even after cooking. It also reheated very nicely - a lot of the dumplings we got reheated nicely (needless to say we had leftovers to take home) The custard buns were also a bit disappointing. The custard flavor was light but there was too much starch/flour in the filling so it was goopy and smelled gummy. Food was brought out fairly quick after being ordered. There was only one server waiting on all the tables so things didn't necessarily get missed but took a little bit to get to us, which wasn't an issue because he remembered. Would I come back? Yes :) love me some dumplings!

Delicious little hole in the wall dumpling place, serving hot Chinese food in a dimly lit restaurant. :) You know it's a great sign when you see older Chinese aunties in the shop window expertly wrapping hundreds of dumplings. True to its name, the dumpling selection on the menu is expansive and all the dumplings are really good. They also have other things (non-dumpling) on their menu. There were definitely a few standout dishes and a few I thought were just okay. GREAT (would order again) - hot and sour soup - salt pepper chicken wings - salt pepper fried fish - soup dumplings (xiao long bao) - spicy wonton dumplings - stir fry green beans - pretty much any dumpling on the menu, they're freshly made! - egg yolk and boba black sesame balls Just ok (wouldn't get again) - pan fried soup dumplings (shen jian bao) - green onion pancake - chow fun (noodle) I think this is one of my favorite places for soup dumplings now. The soup had great flavor, the filling held up well, the skin was not too thick or thin and didn't break easily. The other standout on the menu were the black sesame balls, filled with hot gooey sweet yolk and boba. They were freshly fried and amazing! They're not on the regular menu and was a special when I came here (May 2025) This truly is a hole in the wall place located in an unassuming plaza, so it was quite dark inside and the seating and bathroom was limited. Come for the food not the ambiance.

This is a small restaurant tucked on a side street. I came with my family right when they opened in the afternoon and there were other parties that filed in right after. This place operates by ordering through an online system. We opted for two orders of the Shanghai XLB, the cucumber salad, and pork shrimp and chive dumplings. The dumplings were fantastic and very flavorful. The XLB had a mild flavor and was filled with a good amount of meat. The cucumber salad was refreshing and a nice palate cleanser. There are many bits of raw garlic so if that's not something you enjoy, just pick it off because the salad was great. The service was quick and the prices of the dishes were very reasonable. I believe we ordered a total of 10 dishes and paid $120 before tax. The price per dish averaged ~$12 which is a great deal. I'm definitely come back with my family.

Found a really nice hole in a wall dumpling place! This place was a gem, the employees are so nice and felt very homey/family restaurant. Some dumplings are vegetarian or had no meat and they were very special and very clean tasting. I really enjoyed the different types of dumplings we ordered. The hot and sour soup was also a good appetizer for a group. We ordered garlic veggies and these were so good as usual. This place is relatively inexpensive compared to all the other places in the area and is such a great find. We will definitely be coming back as we heard the beef rolls are great and want to try next time.

REALLLLLY good dim sum. However, the shrimp and chive dumplings tasted like soap. 4 stars because those were horrible, but everything else was beyond 5/5. Wait time was a little long, over the expected time on DoorDash for pickup, but I don't mind, the food makes up for it.

I went with a friend who is vegetarian and the menu has a variety of options. We ordered the chive and egg dumplings, eggplant with basil, and the chocolate xiao long bao. The dough used for the dumplings was chewy and tender. The eggplant dish was flavorful and had a nice garlic and basil flavor. The service was quick and the staff was attentive and friendly. The place had a cozy vibe like a family restaurant.

    Dan Dan Fresh Noodle

Came for lunch on the weekend. Epic Dumpling wasn't too packed, and we noticed they service a lot of take-out orders. We got the Dan Dan noodle (8/10), garlic green onion pancake (8/10), and pork and cabbage dumplings (8/10). The noodles tasted homemade, fresh, and chewy. We thought the sauce was okay but needed a little something more. The garlic green onion pancake wasn't too oily, and the garlic was fresh. The dumplings were yummy but a bit small. Overall, very reasonable for the price. Service was friendly and prompt.

I was excited to try this place. The menu looked extensive and a bunch of vegetarian options too. Ambiance is interesting and welcoming with scenes from ancient chinese cooking. We ordered a bunch of dishes. Service was super quick. They were good but I did find most of the dishes had a little too much oil and were on the sweeter side. Vegetarian Fried rice 4/5 - It enjoyed it! String Beans 4/5 - a lil oily and tasted sweet with onions Red bean buns 3/5 - more dough than red bean Vegetarian Tofu - 2/5 - was too sweet!!

Yum! Delicious dumpling spot with a few dim sum options. The restaurant is in a small plaza with plenty of parking. The restaurant is decently sized and service was actually very good! Ordered via phone but everything thing else such as payment was done through our server. We ordered 5 items as since the pricing wasn't that expensive, I assumed portions to be small but I was wrong as portions was good sized. The highlight for me was the marinated beef pancake roll and the salt and pepper pork chop but honestly, everything was super delicious. Overall, I'd definitely be back. A good spot with delicious food and phenomenal pricing. Service was also good and fast!

My brother and I were in the area and was looking for some food. Saw Epic Dumpling on Yelp and decided to give it a try. This was a hidden gem, a little hole in the wall. My brother and I were seated right away and to order, you would scan the QR code. We ordered: - Hot and Sour Soup - Braised Chicken Feet - Shu Mai - Fried Tofu - Popcorn Chicken - Pork & Cabbage dumplings - Molten Lava Bun Everything we ordered was pretty good. Just our hot and sour soup came out not that hot, just a bit warm. But, everything else came out hot and we enjoyed the food. Was it the best dim sum? No, but it was pretty good and no complaints.

We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.

The mango pudding was delicious and reminded us of childhood, and the shrimp noodle roll was great. Lowlight: I was less happy with the xiaolongbao - there are so many good options for these in the South Bay that this meager interpretation was frankly bordering on blasphemy. I would not order those again. The steamed char siu bao were far better but still could've used more pork in the filling and were slightly soggy and over steamed. We also had the beef chow fun which was excellent with smoky wok hei flavor. Overall a good place for dim sum but avoid the xiaolongbao.

Fine dining, Chinese style…read more The exterior of the building is unassuming, you would not guess the beauty and atmosphere and experience that awaits you on the inside! This is our family's new celebration restaurant. You know, the place you go to when out of town guests come and you want to treat them. The place you go to to celebrate a birthday or special occasion. The first time we came was for dim sum, which was soo good! I like that they still do carts and you get to experience the steam that tells you it's fresh. The interior design is beautiful, refined elegances, with marble flooring, chandeliers above, bright lighting, big screens where appropriate, numerous private rooms and details even in the bathrooms. It is a banqueting venue with ample space for weddings and large events. Our family particularly love their large round tables that can accommodate up to 12, as sometimes it's hard to eat all together at 1 table. When we were there for Chinese New Year celebration, they had a special menu with different selections to choose from. There was also a large party going on, where they were able to partition off the main space for privacy. Also there was a Tesla test driving promotion out front. Definitely good business to partner with other services like that, knowing their clientele. Overall, highly recommend this beautiful restaurant. Of course, it is on the high end of dining experiences, but for special occasions, I think it's worth it.
