That said, they clearly experiment with and play around with the dishes in interesting ways so I'm definitely a fan. Service was polite when we interacted and premesis is well kept. Food came out pretty darn fast (less than 10 min, even with all their takeout orders) as each dish is ready, so be ready for that dessert dimsum to be coming out too. Popcorn Chicken - 5/5 Great dish with a very clean fry (not too much dripping grease) and a light batter/airy crisp. Moist chicken and balanced seasoning. Thrown in fried basil leaves too! Hard to ask for more in an iteration of popcorn chicken really. BBQ Pork Buns - 4/5 Freshly steamed and tasted clean. Filling was generally good on tenderness but could've used more depth of the caramelized flavor. Otherwise solid chasiu. Shredded Tofu - 5/5 Mildly spicy and clean execution for appetizer. Beef Pancake Wrap - 4/5 Fillings were a bit dry but the pancake had a very nice texture and consistency. Balance of sauce quantity and fillings was a bit off kilter and needed more moisture. Flavor was solid though. String Beans - 5/5 Well balanced in terms of flavor and grease. No issues with pooling amounts of saltiness a the bottom and (mostly) quite crisp beans. XLB - 5/5 Remarkably good with a pretty strong porky flavor. Skin was just right thickness with no breakage (verge of a bit too thick, but all good). I love this locally owned dumpling shop. Dining in is ideal since there's nice decor and plenty of seating inside, not to mention the staff is friendly and attentive. Diminished as takeout (our fault for getting it as takeout), but I also thought the exterior of the bun was too thick. It didn't have a crisp bottom, it was evenly thick throughout, and there was no soup inside. That said, the flavor of the filling was good - XLB: 6 per order - these still had soup inside. Been here several times now and really like their Dan Dan noodles. The sauce that it comes with seems to be a combination of some kind of sesame sauce, soy/vinegar sauce and chili sauce. The noodles are bouncy and fresh and the balance of the dish is done really well. We always have their dumplings and find them to be average. They are good every day type of dumplings but nothing special to them, just done consistently and made fresh. They have a kiosk now when you come in to order and you can order online for pickup as well, which is very convenient. They do offer a cash discount, which is a nice option if you carry cash with you. The cash discount does not apply to their frozen orders though and buy it does require a cash payment. read more

The string beans were terrific. But the marinated beef pancake roll and green chive pancake were a little disappointing. The marinaded beef and the chive fillings were delicious, but the pancakes were a bit thick and doughy. They should be thinner and have a crunch to them. The food is decent and they have a good variety of options without pork and beef, but I'm done. It's just not worth it anymore at this point. Popcorn chicken - might be the highlight of what we ordered! Lightly cooked so it's crispy and not crunchy. Could use the spicy chili powder for a kick though. Would totally get this again. 4. Had a craving for dumplings so I dropped by epic dumplings for take out. Their restaurant store window provided a view of staff making dumplings in the kitchen. I was excited to see they had a range of dishes and not just dumplings-- ordered salt and pepper fish and braised beef noodle soup in addition to their shrimp and pork chive dumplings. Might have been a mistake. Shrimp and pork chive dumplings were good and came with soy sauce and some chili sauce. Salt and pepper fish is a no go for me-- more salt than pepper and didn't have the light airy crisp I was hoping for. It was topped with jalapeños but not enough. The braised beef noodle soup was very light but hearty at the same time. It wasn't as flavorful or umami as I expected but the beef was very tender. The host or cashier tender who took my order spoke mandarin btw and some English. While I waited 15 mins for my order, plenty of others came in the pick up their in-app food orders. This place was pretty empty, but it seems like a lot of people do order take out. Thanks to it being empty, we were able to quickly get seated at any table we wanted. Honestly this place is a hidden gem. Maybe not the BEST Chinese place I ever had, but it satisfies all my cravings and also there are some unique twists to some of the dishes. For example, the chive pancake was quite unique and I've never had anything like it. There were some shrimp and the outer part was very crispy. The eggplant was super bomb, and the cucumber was quite garlicy but still delicious. The dumplings were pretty good, and overall, everything tasted satisfactory. This is one of my favorite dumpling places. Most of the time I go there for a lunch with mini me since we both like XLB dumplings. But sometimes we go there for a dinner after an event so we'll have a warm food to end the night m. This place offer delicious comfort foods with casual atmosphere Their chili sauce is delicious also. The staff are efficient. The hot tea is free of charge which is a nice plus. The parking space is sharing with other businesses but you won't have problem with the parking. Our favorite orders are: H01 XLB, H03 pan fried bun (XLB in a bun), E09 Beef chow fun (a bit too oily but otherwise it'll too sticky) , and C01 pork and shrimp wonton fresh noodle soup (which sometimes come without noodle but instead more wonton. I usually like to have some type of noodle dish or rice dish to accompany my dim sum. They have a couple different fresh noodle dishes that kept catching my eye but i settled on Dan Dan Noodles. I've had different versions of this dish from different places and this one was pretty good. The noodles were super bouncy and perfect. The flavor was on the sweeter side, not spicy and not very peanut-ty (which I personally prefer). The portion was huge. I was actually surprised by how much they give you. I also ordered spicy wontons, har gow and siu mai. They were all really good. The hot sauce was super good and actually spicy. I will definitely be trying more items from here in the future. Overall, we enjoy what we get from Epic Dumpling. We mostly come here for the XLB but have tried other items. The biggest issue for us here is the small size of the items given the price. The items are all fairly decent (XLB tastes good, but they are small with fairly thick skin, we've had better elsewhere), but you don't get much for what you pay. Other places seem to be much more generous with their servings / sizes for the same or lower price. When we've gone, ordering and service seem fine. It's nice that it's close, it's clean, and I would say reliable for the times we've gone. If you're looking for good, Epic is fine. If you're looking for great XLB or good value, you're better off looking elsewhere. read more
