I wish I could leave less than one star on this place! The silverware is disgusting and caked on almost as if it was wasn't washed! The bathroom was FILTHY and don't even get me started on the cockroaches they have! I saw them crawling on the wall and the table next to me had one on their table! Fucking DISGUSTING! Then I waited 45 min for my breakfast just to find out they didn't even have charice for my omelette! I was lucky enough to have the Emily as a waitress. She came with an attitude from the beginning and then I didn't see her for the rest of my meal. I had to ask the the waitresses running around for refills, etc! Emmilys has good breakfast and nice sized portions. However they are Ketchup imposters. They fill Heinze with some type of lowgrade garbage-paste. Also, they treat their help like shit. If you can get past the fact that you'll be mislead and may doust your breakfast in awful-tasting fake ketchup than its actually pretty good. Worst breakfast buffet I have ever been to honestly. Waitress was great but everything else was awful. Seated 30 mins after our reservation on Mother's Day. Place was obviously overbooked. Line for brunch buffet (if you want to call it that) wrapped around the restaurant and I just felt bad for all the people who had a line wrapped around their table while they are trying to enjoy "brunch." They ran out of bacon by noon. Again, they ran out of bacon!!! The food was not hot nor good. They couldn't keep platters full. I'm not sure if brunch is a regular thing for them or just a money grab because it was Mother's Day. Don't come here on a holiday - they were significantly overbooked and still taking walk-ins. We came for Mother's Day, 8 people, 11:15 reservations and were seated at 12:00. Ordered at 12:15 from the breakfast menu. Food came at 1:45. Waitress was very apologetic but we never saw anyone from management. Everyone has different tastes, and half of the time people only write reviews when they have something to gripe about, and people always take the chance to gripe about things. I have been going here with my boyfriend for quite some time now, and have been completely satisfied each and every time. The prices are reasonable, the service is fantastic, and the food is delicious. I have enjoyed this place so much, that I brought two friends here and they have been back multiple times since. People have to understand that breakfast places are often busy. The fact that your food is taking a bit longer is probably a good sign! It probably means that your food was freshly made and hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp gathering flies. In this fast food world, people are bred to be impatient and entitled when they don't get what they want, when they want it, they throw a tantrum. I went to breakfast around 10:30 during the week with my boyfriend. First of all we didn't know which door to go into. We got in and got seated right away, the hostess said "your waitress will be right with you". 25 minutes later and not one single person had even acknowledged our existence. We made the decision that we wanted to leave because we actually wanted to eat. On the way out I said something to the women at the hostess station (not the same one who seated us) I said "I just wanted to let you know that we have been waiting and no one ever came over to our table". She looked at me very confused and asked "what do you mean? " ...."I mean we sat there for 25 minutes and no one said a single world to us, we are leaving and won't be coming back". Her only response was "are you sure?" And then we walked out. The restaurant itdelf needs some improvements. It was very dark and very poorly set up. Everything was very outdated. The think that probably aggravated me the most about the situation was the fact that they weren't even busy, less then half of tables ppb the place had people sitting at them. Emmily's is still a great place! We've been going here for about 4 years or so, before and AFTER the move and we still enjoy the food. I've learned alot about customer service from this place which helped me to be better at my own company and they always make you feel comfortable. The old space was more convenient but this new spot has grown on me and I accept it for what it is. Went here for Mothers day breakfast. Took about an hour and a half to get our food. Seems as though the kitchen was not staffed to handle such a day. People were walking out because of wait time. If it wasn't for our very friendly waitress Madeline who kept coming by to make small talk and apolagizing.for such a wait we would have left too.. My boyfriend and I have been here a handful of times. First, I have to say, they have some killer breakfast, and that is what has kept us coming back. The first couple times, the service was great. The restaurant wasn't crowded and the waitresses were very attentive. However, the past two times we've gone, the service has been awful. Our final straw was when we went for breakfast today. We arrived for brunch on the bar side and it was completely full. A hostess brought us over to the restaurant side to seat us in a freezing cold room to wait with several other people. We finally were seated in a corner with significant foot traffic between the waiting room and a front entrance that apparently is supposed to be closed off, but people kept coming in, and making the walkway chaotic. People kept stopping to have conversations over our table and it was getting annoying. Our waitress was short and inattentive. Several times we had to stop the hostess that was walking by to ask someone to refill our coffee and drinks. We ordered our food and it took almost a half hour for our food to get to us. The waitress eventually apologized and informed us that there was a large party they were hosting and the staff was chaotic. Although I am sympathetic, if you know you are hosting a large party, schedule more help. The setup of this restaurant really needs to be re-worked. We'll be trying other places for breakfast. read more

The only thing I don't like it's how there coffee taste, it's really watery and I don't like how the home fries are always cooked differently. Do not go stay away!!!!!!! So we wanted to try Emmilys since under new management and decided to go around 11:50am after church. We waited 20 minutes to be seated, not bad for a Sunday brunch. Our waitress was excellent very friendly attentive and professional. It is now 12:55 and we still have not gotten our food. This is one reason why we wouldn't come back with the old management because it was the same problem always took at least an hour to be served. After one hour we were just informed our waitress is new and they could not make our order because they aren't serving lunch food. It is now 1pm. Wow what can I say about this place... well they recently moved from their previous location so, if you are looking for them on Smith St they have moved to the former Little Inn in Johnston. I never went to the Little Inn or the old location, however I can't imagine how difficult it is for a restaurant to relocate to the space of a long running, well established restaurant with very little time to make it their own. I went to a retirement party with 15 other people. Apparently there was another retirement party elsewhere in the restaurant. First, parking was atrocious. I parked behind the fire station next door, luckily no one objected. So I walk in by myself. There are two entrances, one for the bar area and one for the rest of the restaurant. I chose the one for the bar area. We had reservations, obviously 16 people shouldn't walk into a restaurant and expect to sit down. But the tables weren't set. There was clearly a table set up for us but it was lacking placemats, water glasses, bread plates etc... in fact I think a few did have those but not all. I had to ask for placemats!... they gave us bread without bread plates. Were we supposed to use our napkins? Seriously service at this place is dismal. At one point I felt like I was watching bar rescue or one of those shows where the expert yells at people because they are terrible at their job. The owner/manager was behind the bar and said to a customer, are you this kids father? The kid was a busboy and he looked to be in high school. The guy responded, yes. The owner/manager said because he doesn't respect his elders. In front of the kid, the party of 15 who I was part of, 2 other customers who had clearly seen enough, and 2 employees. You could feel the air leave the room in one fled swoosh. Obviously it was busy, it was the first week of being open, clearly the owner/manager was stressed. But to me that is a giant red flag. Just stay away from this place, the food wasn't terrible, the prices weren't bad but the service is so disorganized that I doubt I will be going back. read more

Went there with my girlfriend for the first time today, place wasn't very packed. Breakfast all day is definitely a great option. The huevos rancheros was a huge plate and was very good. Every item that we tried was done well and tasty. Reasonable pricing, for the two of us it was $27 (including tip). We will be back to try more options, would reccomend. read more

Just went in for dinner..got chowder and clam cakes! Chowder was awful, watered down and tasted like cream, no seafood flavor at all! Told waitress I couldn't eat it and she left it there. I thought she would take it back to kitchen. She later brought the bill with both meals on the tab! I'll start out by saying we've tried to go here for breakfast on many occasions and the place was busy - so we felt HEY, this place must be great they're always packed! One day, we got in to be told there was a 45 minute wait with their huge banquet room completely empty. I don't know about you, but I'm not waiting 45 minutes for eggs and bacon. So we went over to Lighthouse in Johnston. They're always fast and friendly, nothing bad to say about them! Needless to say we finally returned but for dinner and were seated after standing at the hostess stand for 5 minutes with another couple, not with us, standing behind us. The place wasnt busy at all, I would say it was comfortable. We were seated in the bar room. Wife wanted breakfast as the exterior sign claims BREAKFAST ALL DAY. Wife asks the waitress if she could have a breakfast menu and the waitresses reply was "it's not a good idea - the cook is in a very bad mood!" Not quite sure what the cooks mood had to do with whether or not we order breakfast in the evening, which again, is clearly labeled on their exterior sign. We played safe and ordered a turkey club and a cheeseburger club. I asked for my cheeseburger club to be medium, again, playing it safe as I wasnt sure how the cooks mood was going to affect my burger. The plates landed in front of us, looked appetizing. Burger looked nicely pink inside and the exterior, prior to my first bite looked OK. After my first bite into the burger club, it went down hill from there. Clearly the grill is/was WAY too hot as the exterior of the burger was completely burnt, yet pink inside. I had thoughts of sending it back until i heard my waitress tell the older couple behind me, who said they wanted the Chicken Alfredo dish, that the cook is in a very bad mood and didnt suggest it. At this rate, I said screw it - ate the rest of my cheeseburger club. In between then, I watched the bartender count her tips out in front of a customer, pour a Coors Light into a glass for someone that once had Bud Light into it, and also our waitress completely ignore us once we received our food and forgot to refill our sodas. Final thoughts - you wont catch me dead in this place again. I am usually one to give restaurants second chances, but I think between the food, wait staff, and it still looking like the Little Inn with some lipstick on it - I'll take my business elsewhere. Bad service. We came here for a family function and upon arriving at 11:30 I saw two girls scrambling to make the tables for a group of 50. Not sure why they weren't done first thing in the morning or even better, when they closed last night. It took 40 minutes to get coffee served and another 30 to set bread plates on all the tables. Another 30 minutes and most people have bread and water, but not everyone. At one point the owner/manager was standing in the back of the room watching how bad things were going. He got angry with a waitress and then took the coffee pot out of her hands and served one table before disappearing. Since no one is serving, most people are just going to the bar area to get drinks, which were supposed to be included. Unfortunately the bartender told them the soda was flat and they were changing the co2 asap. People are also saying the beer is warm. After 2 hours most have given up and left. The only people who stayed did so out of respect to the person who tried to set up a nice family outing. read more

The entry smells like a men's room and I had a unpleasant experence, my girlfriend, her daughter and myself were sitting down and there was no place mat in front of my girlfriend and no napkin or utensils. The waitress brought over our meals and no placemat for my girlfriend. I had asked the waitress for a fork for my girlfriend and the waitress continue to clean a table, I ask again and she said yes she would get her one and continued to clean off and other table, By the time my girlfriend got her fork the food was cold. It was the day of my sister's baby shower that we had planned at another venue. 2 1/2 hours before the shower, we were contacted saying the establishment had no power and they could not accommodate our party. Scrambling to find a replacement location at literally the last minute, Emmily's had availability and pulled off the most amazing shower for my sister. We had to move the time back a few hours, and even though it was now a late afternoon party, Emmily's still provided us with brunch options (since it was what my sister originally hoped for) as well as a variety of dinner options-- both delicious and fresh! The staff was fantastic -- Michaela and Justine were amazing and catered to our every need. I don't have enough great things to say about Emmily's and can't thank them enough for accommodating us and executing everything flawlessly. So we arrived at 11am today with a party of 6. The first clue should have been the fact that the placemats have Johnston spelled as Johnson. We waited over an hour for our food. As we were waiting our server kept telling us the food was coming. At one point she said it's coming right out - so I asked what she meant by right out - 5 minutes? 10 minutes? and she replied right now. Ok so I timed it and it was 10 minutes later. Wtf?And when my meal finally arrived it was not correct. I recd the wrong toast and my pancake was barely warm. I also had to ask for butter and syrup. Seriously? You would think an hour wait would give the server enough time to get some syrup on the table. Then the server had the nerve to say "how is everything, I hope it was worth the wait" - seriously? Pancakes, waffles, eggs worth a one hour wait - there's nothing you can do to make it worth that wait. Then as I finished about half my pancake and started on my bacon I noticed my meal had two hairs on it. I pointed it out right away and the server insisted on putting her glasses on to check it - as if I was lying. She offered to bring me something else - what and wait another hour? I don't think so. Oh and then she kindly pointed out that she took it off the bill. Wow - how generous. She even blamed the kitchen for the delay in the food - nice way to throw your coworkers under the bus. I even spoke to a manager named Bella and all she did was apologize and said how busy it is. Hello - it's Mothers Day - as a manager it's your responsibility to plan for it.
