My friend and I got side tracked bc a restaurant nearby that we were supposed to go to was under renovation without us knowing, so we went to the closest spot to eat near it. What a hidden gem!!!! Food: - It's a breakfast/brunch diner with a big menu but I was so surprised to see pupusa on the menu! I have been craving it! Pupusas are a thick griddle cake or flatbread from El Salvador and Honduras made with cornmeal or rice flour. So I ordered the red beans and cheese and herb and cheese one (it came with 3 pupusas). All I can say was wow! It hit the spot and it tasted so authentic and delicious! - I also ordered a side of fried plantains and home-fries which were also cooked just right! - for drinks I ordered the hibiscus juice drink which was so refreshing. Service: The service was great. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Our orders came out pretty quick too. And the place was closing and they didn't rush us. Ambiance: It looks like a typical cozy diner. Lots of seating. A big screen tv near the door. There's also a parking lot right in front, so it's an easy spot to find parking. Hidden gem! We arrived on a Sunday morning at 9:30 and were able to get a table without a wait! Our waiter was attentive and food came out quickly. The food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. I had an omelet and the table split blueberry pancakes. These may have been the best pancakes I've had in my entire life!!! They were light and fluffy and so tasty! We've been here a few times. It's nestled on Plainfield pike, about 7-10 minutes from Walmart. They have a huge parking lot. Some seating inside and outside Lots of great food choices, both American and Spanish. Home fries and eggs in burrito, could've been cooked more, but that's a preference. Their menus come with one side that's good for kids or adults, with little games and such. (Love that) Also, they have cute branded mugs, and staff is nice. read more

Basic American breakfast, but smaller portions that I would've liked. I got their corn beef hash with 2 eggs, home fries and toast for $11.48. Nothing tasted bad, but the portion of corn beef hash that they gave was pathetic. It was served in the smallest styrofoam container available and the amount was a little thin log - pretty much the size of two forks. I asked for my eggs over medium, but they came out over easy and were very runny. Home fries were actually cooked well with some crispy pieces, but they were definitely under seasoned. I found chilaquiles in RI!! I was searching around for a place to take my parents, who are in assisted I'm Johnston. Everything was booked for Easter or looked not super enticing, until I clicked the link for Green Eggs and found an entire section of the menu dedicated to Mexican breakfasts. Sold. Made a reservation, although it was not super busy (come on Johnston, find that sweet spot between keeping this great spot open and making it impossible to get into)). Cute, diner-y space, the server was so patient with my elderly parents who both have mobility challenges, and we all enjoyed very different orders. My 100-lb mom put away the corned beef hash like a good Irish girl, my chilaquiles were perfectly done, and dad kept it simple but gave a thumbs up to the hash browns. My friend and I discovered Green Acres Cafe on a Saturday after stopping by Salisbury Farm nearby. I loved the cute fall/Halloween decorations! We sat inside, spaced out from other diners, and all staff were wearing masks. The prices are so reasonable and I really liked by Rueben with fries. Great breakfast and nice lunches in a country setting. Very friendly staff and quick service. Omelets are good and can be made specifically to your liking. Lunch specials are interesting, I did not try the Portuguese kale soup this time but I would like to next time. I ordered a chicken caesar salad that came with grilled chicken but they were happy to substitute chicken salad. The burgers are double Angus beef and very good. You also get soup or salad instead of fries if you like and we like. Nice ride out to the country if you don't live here and family style restaurant. read more

It didn't look too busy at 10 a.m. on a Sunday, so we walked in and requested a table for two. We were seated soon enough, but they seemed to have completely forgotten we were there even though we weren't the only ones seated outside. And the two servers didn't seem busy. Whenever we looked, they were just standing and talking behind the counter. After 15 minutes, my boyfriend's mom went inside to ask if anyone was going to serve us. One of the servers gave us a couple of menus and said she'd "be right back" with some silverware but made no attempt to apologize. 15 minutes later, no silverware. We walked out and went to the Griddle down the road. My boyfriend and I always pass Green Acres on the way to the flea market and have been wanting to try it. What used to be a 5 has turned into a 1.5. The food itself is decent, however the service has declined. Specifically, the wait time from order to food arrival. It was Saturday morning at 9:23 when two breakfast orders were placed. One was a French toast, the other was biscuits and gravy. Around 10 we finally inquired with our server to find out what was going on. The response was something about their chef not being there today. I then asked two questions. 1-would the food still be of the same quality we are used to and 2-had our order even been started. When the server came back from checking she said no, but would be in the next 10 minutes. That would have put us just around the 1 hour mark for breakfast. Nope! I indicated how disappointed we were and that we wouldn't be staying. We paid for our orange juices and left. Very minimal effort on the part of the staff to even try to make it right. Basically a halfhearted apology. I'm sad to even write this of a place I used to adore. read more

I have been here a few times and through different owners. They have great food and are very welcoming. Down side is that they do not make their own Hash, which for those of you that know me is the requirement to get to 4 stars. But, 3 stars is still worthy of stopping in. Usually don't leave negative reviews- especially now but, we felt compelled to with our experience. The front end staff were friendly and seated us within a few minutes, took our orders and we received our beverages. After that, we waited over an hour for sub par breakfast food that we needed to box right away after a few bites since we were rapidly approaching two hours with two young children. My husband couldn't even try more than a bite of his meal and needed to toss it. The hash was not tasty at all and there was a thumb print in his toast. Not trying to be rude but, the entire time we were there, not sure how often we saw anyone using hand sanitizer or wash their hands. To the serving staff, the communication could've been better as we understood it was busy for the staff you had on but, a heads up would've been appreciated as we would've left and gone to another place or just ordered it to go to begin with. We understand we chose to try your location out with two young children on Father's Day (that part is on us) but, this was unacceptable and we almost walked out which we have never done before. read more

Searched for a good breakfast place in Johnston based on Yelp reviews and found this to have a really good overall rating so off we went. Outside, the place looks like it's been around a while: a little Western cafe/barn look with a farm patch across with big cows. As we stepped inside, however, we were greeted by new fixtures and freshly painted walls. Turns out this place has been around a long time but has had new owners for the past 2 years, and undergone a renovation just 2 months before this November visit. Good start. The menu is standard and reliable. Perhaps best that way. The food actually tasted good. Not bland, over-seasoned or overcooked as is usually what one finds when experimenting with new breakfast places. The presentation is simple yet appetizing, with just right portion sizes. Most of all, the service is courteous. Good spot to check out for that weekend breakfast treat. read more

Green Acres is the place to be! Much like the opening song to the show Green Acres, Green Acres restaurant in Johnston, RI is the place to be for breakfast and lunch. Diner is small, so it gets crowded quickly, but the food is delicious so it's worth the wait. I usually get either the farm special or the eggs benedict. I really don't think you can go wrong with any option. The owners and staff are super friendly and you cannot beat the prices. Downside? The place is really small so sometimes you need to wait awhile before you can be seated. The last time I was there the service was also a little slow, but in their defense I believe one of the staffers had called out sick. If you're in the area it's definitely worth stopping by. Surprise! I've driven by this place for 15 years and never noticed that this was a new place some 3 years ago. I'm a big fan of breakfast food and I've hit many from south county to East Greenwich and Putnum and in between. I was out by myself and just about to go to one of my favorite places some 20 minutes away. This worked out because we found Green acres Café thought we would take a Chance and try a different place for breakfast. Well I'd like to say it worked out well, because the food was great the prices were fair and the waitress we had was very nice. Hi everyone, I just joined Yelp and I am so excited to get started. I started with Green Acers Cafe because I am there every weekend. I have to tell you that the first 4 photos are old. They have remolded the entire place and if its possible the food has only gotten better. I know it doesn't look as pretty on the outside as some of the other breakfast places on the pike but the inside is warm and homey and the food is better than most chain restaurants.
