Gel's is a great little neighborhood restaurant. They are located at the end of a strip mall, right near the road at the 'entrance/exit'. Parking is shared with several other businesses. There is no 'handicapped parking' specifically for Gel's due to the way the parking lot is designed. There is a small vestibule between the outside and the inside where you will find a community food pantry. Take something if you need it, or leave something for your neighbors. This is such a lovely offering and very much in line with Gel's local community mind set. The doors into the vestibule are heavy glass and metal. Seat yourself in one of the booths. When they remodeled they added a small bar to the back area if you prefer counter seating. They offer a variety of mimosa flavors at breakfast and beer and wine at lunch. Although I suppose if you want a beer with your eggs, have at it. The front and side walls have large windows making the interior bright. They offer so many specials. Check out all the white boards on the back wall above the counter seating. These are in addition to their standard menu. Breakfast items include egg based meals (eggs & bacon & toast for ex.), pancakes, hash and lots of al la carte sides. Coffee is good and comes with free refills. The lunch menu includes sandwiches, salads, soups, wraps and they have a kids menu too. They also offer Kino if you like. Gels is a regular stop for us. We are locals so it's community. It's sitting at home. Food is always fresh, fries are the best on the planet, I'm a fries snob. They say it's because Gel changes the oil every week. Hash is homemade, A+, crepes, excellent. Huge order. Great prices. Also they support local community and have meals on the back of the menu in memory of local children with memorial funds. A portion of my dinner check goes their family fund. Me and my dad went on a Wednesday morning at 10am and there was no wait at all with plenty of open tables. I got a western omelette with home fries and wheat toast. My dad got a ham and cheese omelette with home fries and cinnamon raisin toast. We also got a side of home made corn beef hash. Everything was absolutely delicious. The coffee was so good, all the breakfast food was absolutely dee-licious and our waitress, Laurie who is the owners mom, was not only extremely nice but she was also a hoot!! My father, son, and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast here on Thursday. Leyden, our server made sure we were well taken care of. I commend this restaurant for their commitment to providing and offering healthy ingredients and to making as much of their food as possible homemade. What a difference it makes! I indulged in a tasty homemade banana bread masquerading as french toast. It was out of this world! I was very appreciative that they offered real maple syrup. I didn't mind paying the small upcharge. It was worth it! This homey diner style restaurant is well known for its philanthropic contributions to the surrounding community, proudly offering a food pantry in the entryway where customers can either donate or take what they need- no questions asked. Right on the menu it says that they "believe in giving you the highest quality food at the best price," and they deliver, in a very busy, friendly, local diner-style atmosphere. This is the neighborhood place you wish you had in your neighborhood. They have 12 different egg special combinations, every breakfast option you could want, from omelettes to crepes, to pancakes, French toast (including home made bread and homemade banana bread options). Everything that can be made in-house is homemade, fresh and has great ingredients. There is also a constant group of breakfast, lunch or dessert specials that are almost always surprising, interesting, or completely tempting and always house made. Lunch is the same, with all the typical Diner favorites including great hot weiners (see my lunch below) and perfect (and I mean perfect) fries. They just know what they're doing here. And they do it in a friendly way despite how busy everyone is running around all day long due to the constant flow of patrons in and out. Prices are great as well. Three weiners all the way, fries and a soda that was filled two and a half times came $12 and change. A great deal. I didn't have any room for the wide selection of scratch, made desserts and dessert specials that are also available. Gel's is one of those places the locals love, but hope you never find out about it because you might take their regular table. Came here this morning with one of my boys after a good night. We mostly went just because it was the closest breakfast spot around, but it really blew me away with the tastefulness and sheer speed of service. I just got a sausage egg and cheese with some potatoes on the side and even as simple as it sounds, it was delicious and definitely raised my diner standards for simple food. Homemade Corn beef hash in an omelette served hot with Swiss cheese and onions outstanding! The waitress made us out 5 gift certificates and was very efficient and speedy doing this while waiting on tables. We asked her is she wore her hats to make people laugh and she said yes but her main reason was to keep her hair up and not having to take the time it takes to get it in shape early in the morning. Truly a hidden gem. The vintage decor is so fun, and the long list of mimosas is such a pleasant surprise. Our server was so helpful and even subbed out my toast for a slice of french toast to save me money, so I owe her my life and will definitely return. Jokes aside, I love a classic breakfast. It's been awhile since I've been to Gel's Kitchen, but too be honest, it was even better than I remember. Like it was omg incredible. Me and my brother went here for breakfast this morning and spent $50 on 3 dishes, two coffees and a bowl of oatmeal. Incredibly cheap!! When we got in there we were immediately greeted with a Halloween decor and fun environment. We were then told we could pick any clean table as there was no wait. The service was super quick and our waitress was incredibly friendly too. She was also very much on top of attending to our table. I don't know her name, but she has short, dirty blond hair. When we sat down, she immediately asked if we wanted anything to drink. So I got a hot coffee and a water and my brother got an iced coffee and a water. The menu is actually fairly large as they offer a wide variety of foods. Such as Crepes, Waffles, pancakes, French toast, eggs cooked in all different ways, a whole lunch section and much more! The possibilities are almost endless. So what did I get? Well, I got a Meat lovers omelet with home fries and a grilled English muffin. The omelet cake was chopped bacon, ham and sausage along with cheese. The omelet tasted incredible!! It has sooo much flavor and it was greasy and just delicious done in part by the meat fat/grease, lol. Then the home fries tasted incredible as well, and the English muffin was delicious too! Grilled to perfection. We also got an order of Gels homemade pumpkin bread French toast which again was SO GOOD! The pumpkin bread was moist, dense and so so flavorful. My brother got an Irish bene, which I tried and again was incredible and then her also got a small bowl of oatmeal. Great little family run restaurant, everyone is always friendly, the food is never a disappointment and they do a lot of good for the community. Breakfast is definitely a must because there are lots of options but I don't know if they do anything gluten-free or anything of the like. Be aware, if you don't get there early in the morning, like right around 8 AM or earlier, you're not getting a seat. There is only a very small foyer to weigh in and if it's cold, you're gonna be super chilly! This is one of our go-to places when we cannot decide where to go for breakfast. Service was a bit slow but it was a school holiday and it was crowded with many families with children (a good sign). I'm not a breakfast person. Contrast that with my husband, who LIVES for breakfast, it's a challenge for us to find something that we both agree on for the first meal of the day. That said, the best breakfast thing I can think of is cheese blintzes...hubby even wrote me a song about how much I love cheese blintzes. That is the reason we were looking for blintzes and that is how we found Gels. When we arrived, I was immediately hit with a wall of underwhelm. The floor was sticky, the entire restaurant smelled like kitty litter, and the walls were covered in gaming activities and kitchy decor. It took them awhile to seat us, but our booth was similarly sticky and stinky to continue the theme of the restaurant. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, and looked at the menu. The first thing we ordered was the zucchini bread french toast, the cheese blintzes (of course) with a side of turkey bacon, and the Papa's poached. The french toast was mushy but a decent flavor, and the turkey bacon was super oily and slimy. The papa's poached was ok but not well seasoned, alongside very lackluster potatoes. Unfortunately the cheese blintzes were the worst thing, just a regular pancake dough and filled with flavorless cheese and served alongside pancake syrup (?!?!?). Service was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful, slow and sloppy. The floor was disgusting, and walking to the bathroom was slick and sticky at the same time. Prices were low but so was the quality of the product. I imagine the ones there were the local-est of locals, and have probably been going here for years if not decades. If however you have any standards, this is not going to do it for you, and it definitely didn't do it for us. We will not be returning, especially after the horrendous thing they did to their cheese blintzes. read more

I've lived in Rhode Island for a couple of years and have been aware of Gel's kitchen, mainly because of her charitable work... Especially for offering to pay for Warwick students who couldn't afford a hot lunch and raising funds/awareness for local communities.... But I never had the chance to try them out. Today, on a whim, I went to the West Warwick location (Sunday 12:15pm) The parking lot was packed, so I didn't think we would get in. Then I saw the place was run mainly by teenagers so, my expectations were low..... But to my surprise, we were greeted right away, seated, soon after my mimosa and coffee was on its way. Waitress was friendly and understanding and regards to my moody eleven year old. My daughter got a blueberry crepe with bacon, and I got the irish benedict.... The food and service was fantastic. Too hungry forgot to take pictures. The mimosas here are incredible. They have numerous flavors and they give you a very generous pour for 8 bucks. The prices here are very reasonable. Eggs were cooked perfectly, tasted really fresh. The home fries were also cooked and seasoned perfectly. The bacon was the best part, thick and crunchy, just absolutely very bacony !!!!!!! My wife had the meat lovers omelette. I have never seen an omelette cooked so perfectly . There were no brown spots at all and it was absolutely delicious. Best of all the service was amazing. Gel's has excellent breakfasts and my go-to is their corned beef hash. However, today, my first visit in a few months, I was dismayed that they changed the recipe for the hash. Rather than the fresh corned beef chopped and mixed with potato, they served shredded corn beef that was over cooked and mixed with bacon. Disappointed. read more

When you walk in there's a community pantry and that's amazing love that, we even saw multiple people pull up to make donations and that's lovely to see. We were sat fast, the tables are really close together and doesn't seem large group friendly. They took our order timely although when I received the food it was sub par. I got corn beef hash and eggs with home fries and everything tasted fishy. I probably wouldn't go back as the food didn't make any great impression and that's like the only thing that matters when going to a restaurant. But love what they're doing for the community with the pantry for those in need. read more

Gels is a local business that my family frequents for breakfast. This morning we were served by Jessica. She was super sweet! She offered to grab us extra whipped cream and there was one order that the kitchen added strawberries to by mistake and she offered before handing us the dish to bring it back and fix it. The crepes that I got were cooked perfectly- golden brown soft with a bit of a crunch to them and the strawberries used were fresh!! My mom and grandpa played keno while we ate as well- not too much luck in the winning department though. I loved seeing the paper straws. This isn't something that I was expecting to see at a locally owned business and I was quite happy seeing that they are taking steps to reduce plastic waste!! There was also a little food pantry in the lobby area of Gels with a sign that if families are having a tough time that they can take some food items to prepare food at home. I thought that was sweet and so caring. Next time I come I will definitely be donating some items to the shelves to help gels with their cause!
