Customized omelette with broccoli, onions, peppers and cheddar cheese.

I ate here for the first time recently, and it was clear Nick and Joan's had a lot of regulars, which is indicative of the quality of the food and the service. You can see the cook chopping up vegetables, and making the food, so you know what you're getting is fresh and it really shows in the food. My omelette, toast and home fries were all great. Overall, great little breakfast place, no complaints!

Tomato, onion, broccoli, and american cheese omelette, with home fries

I grew up in the diner capital of New Jersey, so I've had my fair share of omelettes. Some massive, some too small, some too cooked, or not cooked enough, both over filled and and over seasoned, and definitely some under. This one I had from Nick and Joan's was perfect, exactly what I was hoping for this morning. Not massive, but not too small (I did get the full size), and very well filled. It's an excellent size for a pre-work breakfast, one where you're content, but won't feel too stuffed and get nothing done for the next hour or two. Broccoli inside was a great firmness, onions nicely cooked, and the cheese was melted wonderfully throughout. I could have gone with a bit more tomato, but that's just personal preference. Home fries probably won't be every ones favorite style depending what you're used to, but I think they had a nice texture. They are seasoned lightly, so they can work whether you like adding ketchup or eating plain. Not heavily fried and oily like some diners, nor were they a coated crisp like a T's / Friendly's. They are a potato home fry, not a fry home fry, very reminiscent of ones I would typically get back in Jersey, but a tad less fried / charred. The mains were great, but the toast stood out, and I was too excited to take a picture. Nice browning, but still soft and verrrry well buttered. Perfect diner toast. I've lived in this area for seven years now, and I'm super upset this is the first time I've gone. Even just walking in the door is a great experience, everyone is very friendly, Nick takes time off the griddle to walk around and say hi to people, whether they are dining in or getting it to go. Great family atmosphere, both from the workers and the patrons, plus it helps that some of both are actually family it seems. Very rare to see a restaurant so upbeat and wholesome these days, and I'm very happy this is in walking distance. Can't wait to go back!

Breakfast is okay. I got the Nick #1 - 2 eggs, homefries and toast ($5.25). The egg's were alright and the homefries weren't great. They didn't have too much flavor like paprika, pepper, etc and some pieces were barely sauteed/too mushy, some had the right amount of crunch. I also got 2 peanut butter chip pancakes ($2.50 each). I was disappointed how small they were, but they were light and the bites with the peanut butter chips were very satisfying. Old school diner vibes, but maybe too old school. Nice spot for my 64 year old dad. Food is a 3, but the service is a 5+. The main waitress was incredibly friendly and Nick was cooking my breakfast while asking me how I wanted things along the way.

A cute hostess area for pickup orders, but we headed to the small dining room and grabbed a table. I ordered garlic Parmesan wings and a meatlovers pub pizza. Our server/bartender was pleasant and attentive the whole time. Our food arrived looking great. The wings were cooked nicely, jumbo sized with super crispy texture and juicy on the inside. The garlic Parmesan was... Interesting. I believe it's a mayo based sauce, similar to an Alabama white BBQ sauce. I could see the appeal in it but it wasn't for me personally. The pizza was great as usual. I love the combination of the toppings on the meatlovers with the sauce. I enjoyed every bite. While I don't need an excuse to come to Grainsley's as it's in my semi regular rotation, I didn't mind the chance to come back sooner than later for some awesome wings and pizza!

The food was good, but not as amazing as I had thought or hoped. Of course, this is my opinion and you are welcome to disagree. In fact, I'm happy for you if you had a better time. The menu read very fancy and culinarily interesting, but for me at least, that just meant they took what would be great, but overcomplicated it, made it too foodie. No matter what I ordered I would have had to change something. I got the chicken sandwich. I'm in the 10% of the population where cilantro tastes like soap, but cilantro is mixed into the slaw that is the primary thing on the sandwich. I also asked for light chili mayo because I don't like too much. If that was light mayo, then maybe they normally serve it in a bowl of chili mayo. It was 2 relatively large, very fried, chicken breasts. I immediately took one off because I knew I would make myself sick eating so much. Frankly, it basically tasted like a fried and chili mayo sandwich. All the chicken flavor was completely drowned out by the fried taste. I don't think I'd order that again. I swapped out the sides for the Gruyère mashed potatoes. They were very good, but they got really dry and starchy by the end. I got the espresso mock-tini, which was basically milk and a shot of espresso in a martini glass. I could have downed it all in one gulp. It was nonalcoholic, but it was still priced the same as the alcoholic stuff. Bottom line, if the company were paying again, I'd give it another try, but if I lived here I don't think I'd come here again on my own. Still awesome service though, and plenty of people love it, so hopefully it works better for you!

Most egregious: the shrimp that came with the Caesar salad was POPCORN SHRIMP coated in SWEET-AND-SOUR sauce. I truly couldn't believe it. Why wouldn't the server at least warn me? To add insult to injury, my salad was overdressed and soggy. Also, the dressing was revolting. I don't mind anchovies for flavor, but the dressing tasted like an anchovy puree. I think it was maybe past its prime. I had one bite and couldn't continue. Inedible. And the fries. The parmesan truffle fries were drenched in mayonnaise??? I don't really care for mayo but I don't mind a drizzle or an aioli dipping sauce. However, the mayo to fry ratio was literally 2:1. I tried to wipe it off and it was still like a mayo-fry soup. Inedible. I took everything to go and just trashed it. I've NEVER done that before. This is a delayed review (meal was a few months ago) and I'm still rattled by how bad it was.

Soaring through the…read morestreets of Warren and Swansea, flanked by woods and water, were just the beginning of a magical experience. Then came the destination: at first, I doubted myself because I thought I was just looking at a bakery. When I pulled into the parking lot and opened the front door, I finally began to understand what "hole-in-the-wall" truly meant. Not only was the family ownership and honest-to-goodness service in place the minute I entered, but the sampling of lightly-seasoned bread with olive oil was the definitive way to begin dinner. When I came here last weekend with my stepbrother and his gf, I had finished a workout earlier that day, so the idea of a chicken parm dished mixed with bolognese sauce sounded killer; all of us had ordered that exact dish! Boy, was my hunch trustworthy. A comforting mix of seasonings, a breading with a well-done crispness around the edges, and a quality of meat that felt wholesome without being overbearing were the elements that comprised a hearty serving of cheese-stuffed ravioli. The following Saturday, my mother and stepfather were more than happy to reserve seating (when you're a small restaurant with a penchant for legendary cooking, even the weekdays are bound to be packed). While my mother gorged on a plain chicken parm and my old man was enthused with his seafood platter, I dove into creamy pink vodka sauce and smoky sweet Italian sausage. The bacon-y flavor of the sausage complemented the sharp cheesiness of the broth, culminating in a spectacle of flavors that never stopped short of excellence. While the Nutella-filled egg dessert I had on the first day was nice, I was told that most of the offerings provided in the bakery were crafted by a Boston-based confectioner. What was homemade, however, was a fruity pie carefully designed and baked by the proprietor's wife. The crostata, as it was called, tasted just as scrumptious as the description of apples and raspberries and gooey gelato that I had been provided. One of the reasons I support small is because there's no conglomerate overreach to corrupt the flavors a competitive small-town scene can offer, which Spaghetti Lane perfectly embodied. When Mike the founder had been so uplifted by vocal enthusiasm for his business, he was generous to provide me with a Spaghetti Lane-branded shirt. I told him he truly did not have to offer such a generous gift, but I thanked him nonetheless afterward. I must also point out the ambience of the restaurant. The place was comprised of two dining rooms: one of which leaned into the elegance of Italian spirits stacked neatly on shelves and the hypersonic drift of Italo Disco filling the air, the other was a contemporary-style cafe setting with a dessert cashier and a giant cabinet lined with cannoli, cheesecake, and whoopie pies. For some reason, my soul lit up when I heard the Umberto Tozzi version of "Gloria" as I was chomping on my penne. Now that's a vibe. That's my TED Talk. Thank you, everyone!

We ordered the mini stuffies, the hummus plate, and the fried pickles. The mini stuffies were a highlight. Loaded with Mello's chouriço and packed with flavor, they're a solid little bite. My grandfather set the bar pretty high for me on stuffies, and these came close. They have a different profile than what I grew up with; a little less bready, more chouriço forward, and the clam flavor takes a back seat. Not necessarily a complaint, they were just different from what I'm used to and were genuinely tasty. The lemon aioli on top was also a nice touch. The fried pickles were exactly what you want them to be. Crispy, well fried, and the breading actually stayed put while you ate them, which is more than I can say for a lot of fried pickles. They came with the same lemon aioli as the stuffies, which worked just as well here. The hummus plate was a bit of a letdown. We've had it many times before and it used to be a standout. This time the hummus itself was thick and pretty flavorless, more like a dense chickpea paste than anything else. The accompaniments were nice though and consisted of heirloom carrots, cucumbers, olives, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, pickled cauliflower, carrot, and a pepperoncini, all served alongside some buttery round crackers that were like a Ritz cracker's more refined cousin. The veggies saved the plate, but the hummus needs to find its way back. I suppose it could have just been an off batch and won't prevent us from trying it again. Cocktails were great, as usual. I had the Anana with scotch. I love pineapple and this has muddled pineapple and basil, pineapple juice, cracked black pepper. It's my go-to here and it delivered again. My partner went adventurous and ordered the Jungle Booby, which is built around tequila blanco and mezcal with campari, pineapple, grapefruit, lime, orgeat, and an absinthe spritz. The flavors were genuinely good, but the smokiness from the mezcal was a bit much for her taste. She followed it up with a glass of rosé and had no complaints after that. The cocktail wasn't the problem, it just wasn't her style. One of our favorite spots in Warren for a quick nibble, for a good reason.
