Sunrise is still practicing their COVID with masks required and tables separated for social distancing. No worries. I arrived early enough on Saturday morning that there was a free table and I took my seat. My eye was drawn to the hash and it was cooked to order. I think the gent who served me is also the cook and the owner. He was working super hard this morning and was super friendly. A very big portion of a delicious meal that I enjoyed immensely. It pains me to even have to write this. This is a commentary on the service primarily . To start, this was my go to for ever. Great food, friendly service with a smile with awesome staff. But recently, I don't know what happened. Walked in, sat ourselves and then nothing and was ghosted. Not a "hello", "I'll be right with you", nada. Ok, I see every table is full, and the owners are the staff these days. So 1 server to like 12+ tables. It's clear she is in the weeds and overwhelmed. Sad to say, we never even got served a coffee. Had to leave, we gave the benefit of the doubt and we waited a good 10 minutes before we left. I still love this place and the food, but if you can't even get the food, what's the point. read more

For many years that I went to visit my Mom in Warwick, I would have breakfast at the Sunrise Cafe. The little eatery definitely captures what a Mom and Pop cafe should be -- small, close-knit, good food, and pictures of yesteryear of the town (such as Rocky Point). They're known for really good omelettes, as well as different varietals of French toast, pancakes, waffles, and more. They have good kielbasa and other types of sausage. Most of the dishes come with home fries, which are also quite good. Always get my breakfasts with bacon. Because bacon. Usually either ordered hot coffee or iced coffee with my meal. Always did the trick and left me happy and caffeinated. In all the years, I've been there, we were always able to get a table, or a spot at the counter. Plenty of parking outside to the right of the building. The only thing you will need to know is that it's cash only, so make sure you have that in hand. read more

We decided to get breakfast here on Monday morning. The place wasn't too packed. We got a booth and decided to order some coffee. The kitchen was an open kitchen and the diner was quaint. They had a pretty big parking lot. It appears it's a husband and wife owned joint. The man which I believe may be the owner and cook told us to sit anywhere. I decided to order two eggs, home fries-potatoes, and spicy hash. ($5) The eggs were over easy, the home fries were decent, and the spicy hash was not my thing. I decided to get adventurous and try hash, but I'm not a fan. It wasn't spicy and it was salty; I don't recommend it. The other menu items looked pretty good. I should've ordered than French toast I was eyeballing lol. The service was good, we had our coffees filled once. The food came out quick. Would I return? Sure. The meal was okay that's why I gave it a three stars, I'm sure their other menu items are better than the one I chose. read more

We're visiting this week and looking local places to eat. This one came up in a search and didn't disappoint! Truly a local establishment where one patron asked for his "usual". Food was great and I even ordered something I wouldn't normally eat...eggs over easy (Sicilian Monk)...eggs Benedict with sautéed onions, sweet Italian sausage and marinara! Great place to have a good steak! I had the medallion filet with portabella mushrooms with shrimp. I asked for medium well it was medium rare but still excellent. The menu said topped with portabella mushrooms it wasn't. It came 10 mins later in a 1 oz container cold. The corn was not drained and had no seasoning very bland. But the service was great, the food came out in less than 15 minutes. Other than that I'll be back! read more

A place to wake up A little breakfast place that is only open in the morning. Don't expect a gourmet menu. pretty much omelets and pancakes. However they do have a vast selection of omelets with just about every combination you can imagine. Peppers, onions, mushrooms. steak, you name it. They even have a pancake breakfast they call the Micky Mouse that has chocolate syrup on it. The service is very homey, friendly and attentive. One of the coolest thing about the Sunrise are the decorations on the wall. Old posters of Rocky Point amusement park and Oakland Beach. Articles about the hurricanes that hammered the area and neat old maps. Really adds an interesting home town feel to the place. The only negative is that it is small and very popular with the locals. Just a counter and a dozen or so tables. Can get very crowded and congested, especially in the summer or on weekends. That's all right because it is such a cool place that it is worth the wait. read more

I was in the area and had some time to spare. I stopped by the closest diner who served breakfast. I came in right before close and the workers were very nice. The food portions were large for the cheap prices and had that homemade style and good taste that seemed very authentic. One of the male workers was very personable and open for conversation. When we finally arrived, we had to look around because we couldn't find it. I would have rated this place one star if it wasn't for the kind staff. Went with my father and the food tasted bland and watered down. It technically squeaked by the COVID rules, but everyone had to sit between huge plastic walls and I felt boxed in. Staff wasn't wearing masks when he handed us drinks, food, etc. The prices weren't too high, but it didn't make the experience any better. After being recommended as a place to check out for a great breakfast, I was terribly mislead. Service was terrible and slow. Once the order finally arrived after 35 minutes, our orders had been mixed up and served incorrectly. As a devoted vegetarian I was served an omelet with pork. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they responded with a sarcastic " wow what a terrible mistake" before walking away. Found this cafe/restaurant to be awful. Went there on New Years Day morning. Waited about 20 min to get table - which was fine - Place was extremely busy . Once we sat down, didn't get coffee or order taken for another 25 min. Then waited 1.5 hrs for our food. 1 waitress, that was extremely miserable and 2 cooks. I would tihnk for a hooliday morning, there should have been more than 1 waitress. When I jokingly and quietly asked if she forgot to submit our order she became extremely defensive and was loud enough for other customers to hear her- made it seems like I was the problem. Also, the food is way overpriced for what you get and wasn't that good either. The chain breakfast restaurants are less expensive than this place. Ask for water- you get a small bottled water that you are charged/billed for- and she never told us this. She even became rude and defensive when I went to pay the bill. Not only will I never go here again, I tell everyone how bad it is. read more

Tried this place out for the first time today and loved it! Old school breakfast spot in Warwick with awesome pictures along the walls of "Warwick things" like Oakland Beach & Rocky point. Husband and wife are the owners, servers, and cooks which I thought neat. Place has tables and counter seating. Prices were really good and the food tasted great. I had the spicy hash with my eggs and it was to die for. The home fries were also great, the owner even brought us an extra plate because he saw us enjoying them so much. They actually added a favorite drink of mine to the menu after I filled out a comment card. The weekly specials are always inventive and tasty. They offer things like steak tips, grilled portuguese sweet bread, flannel hash (made with red beets), things you cant get in other places. Prices are dirt cheap. It is clean inside, and the mismatched silverware, different coffee mugs, and pictures of nostalgic Warwick Neck/Rocky Point/Oakland Beach give the place alot of charm. I don't think anyone who leaves a review with more than two starts knows what a good breakfast tastes like. My husband and I just left this sh*thole diner. We try to patronize smaller, local places for breakfast but it'll be SO worth the drive back to our favorite place in Scituate after this awful meal. I got two eggs with bacon - which comes with toast and home fries. My husband got three eggs with pepper and onion hash (and toast/home fries). We each got coffee. Firstly, what another reviewer generously called "nostalgic" decor - it's a bunch of pictures of the old Rocky Point and over the counter area, there's fishing stuff. It was very dated. However, if the food was decent, that wouldn't matter. The portions were what you'd expect for the price, not bad; but the food was utterly flavorless. There was no seasoning on any of the eggs, the bacon tasted like the precooked microwaveable stuff. My husband asked for hot sauce and was brought a giant bottle of sriracha. That didn't help, it just made it worse. He was eating his hash and realized it wasn't meat, it was canned beans ground up to appear to be corned beef hash. To be fair, the menu didn't specifically say it was corned beef hash, but what would you expect to see on a breakfast menu? Like everything else, it was bland and not properly seasoned. The toast was soggy, it didn't taste like fresh bread with butter. It was old. Also, when we first looked at the menu, I noticed they charge .75 extra to put onions in the home fries. I say again, they charge EXTRA to flavor their food. The coffee tasted like they had been using the same grounds for a while and were just pouring more hot water thru them. It looked like coffee but tasted like dirty water. We went there this morning because we live nearby and always see a crowd. We have no idea why. read more

Great Breakfast Place that puts a unique twist on some dishes. I tried the Sunrise Benedict. It is ham, egg, and spinach served on an English muffin but instead of hollandaise sauce, they put on a thin tomato based sauce which gave it an awesome taste. I also got a side of side of the Spicy Hash which the spiciness gave the hash a nice flavor and a little kick! Give this place a shot, on top of the great food it is also very reasonably priced and the staff is very friendly. Just a word of the warning it is cash only so plan accordingly. read more

Wife has had over-medium eggs (cooked great), pancakes another time and an omelet today...also swell. Only 4 stars just because our first time here, the toast was a bit anemic. Not really toasted. Our last few visits we asked for our toast well done and it came out perfect! Not burnt but a nice crunch just as we think toast should be! (Up to 4¾ stars now). This place is my secret spot! I dont come home to RI often, but when I do I always come to Sunrise Cafe for breakfast. It is a hidden gem! Truely everything you dream a breakfast should be at a value that is simply unheard of. Rather you want a simple well-executed eggs, bacon and potato breakfast or want to get adventurous with some gourmet breakfast sandwiches and omelets there is something here for everyone. I struggle to understand how they can sell such delicious high quality food for so little money and stay in business. I always tip well for posterity in hope that myself and others can enjoy this place far into the future. After a few trips to this cozy little breakfast shack the brother and sister duo that run the place will start to feel like family. I come maybe once a year and they always remember my name! Food is decent. It's a shame that the only waitress that works there is a miserable you know what. This morning I ordered a no egg breakfast sandwich on a croissant with bacon. She got it wrong 3 different times. She never apologized or offered to take something off the check. In fact she ignored us and the owner had to come over to find out what was wrong.
