Have yet to be dissatisfied with anything here. Nice hearty breakfast plates for less than what you expect. It's a small dining area, but worth the wait if it's busy.

This review is long overdue. I moved to Riverside about 2 months ago and found Farnsworth Cafe on a walk. It's about a mile from where I live so, perfect for a morning stroll to grab a bite. Always busy yet, they never make you feel rushed. Food is delicious (if you get toast, get the italian) and prices reasonable for the quantity and quality. They obviously have regulars because more than once, someone walked in the door and got a greeting straight from "Cheers". It's really the place where everybody knows your name and very inviting. My s/o and I have eaten there a few times as well as getting take out once. Even getting take out, their fabulous personalities shine. Accidentally called after they closed for lunch and the man (oh how I wish I got his name) told me, "I'm not goin anywhere, I got you. Whatya like?" He then made me and my s/o scrumptious noms for us to come and grab. I was just there today for coffee and french toast. No photos to share for that but, I posted some pictures from a couple visits ago. I highly recommend giving them a try. If you don't like something, they'll give it their all to make it right!

Nice neighborhood breakfast spot! This local spot was busy when we visited and they still were able to serve us quickly. My breakfast was cooked perfectly. Waitstaff was super friendly and checked on us several times for drink refills, which was nice. Definitely worth revisiting!

Upon arrival there is no host. There's a small waiting area where we sat until a waitress stopped by to ask who was next to be seated. We ended up seating ourselves at the counter where it took a while to be noticed. Most of the staff clearly work their tails off. Some of the staff clearly don't. I had the waffle and it was pretty good. Not particularly memorable. I tried my husband's homefries. They were cool and a bit undercooked.

The only thing is there is nothing else nearby serving anything similar. So it's not great but it does the job.

The restaurant is very clean. I've met the owner twice as he tries to get around the diningroom before you leave to make sure your experience was a good one & personally thank you. I feel that in itself makes a big difference in quality control & guaranteeing he is hearing his customers & perhaps can make changes before it becomes a business-changing problem. (Sometimes a few bad reviews spread like wildfire & changing rumors back to the truth can hurt the bottom line). There is a delightful waitress you'll be glad to have serve you if you are lucky enough to be seated at her table. "Grandma (name)?" is a very happy way to start your day. She knows the menu well & can make you smile on your worse days. The menu has plenty to choose from & the portions sizes..epic! Eggs Benedict is 3 egg size. Pancakes & French toast orders are enough for today & tomorrow without adding eggs or meat. But their prices are similar to other places lessor size plates. There is an ramp at the entrance for those with mobility issues. There are a couple of handicap spots too. I do not know if the restrooms are wheelchair friendly as I didn't check it out yet. Even on a packed Sunday morning, the kitchen was quick moving the food out.. the waitress was right on top of refills too. Definitely worth stopping in & giving it a try but bring your appetite. Eating like a bird, I think, is frowned upon.

I ordered the small which was a generous size for the price! Steak bomb omelette- the steak was beautifully seasoned and the mushrooms may have been portobello they had a nice chew/bite to them. Had cheese in it but not overdone on the cheese. My husband had biscuits and gravy. He's a tough critic on this dish and he said this one is at the top of the list compared to ones he's had at other restaurants. It came with eggs and homefries on the side. The marble rye he ordered on the side ,it was nice and thick and had a really nice chew to it. The service was wonderful. From the hostess to the server and the owners. It's evident that the owners care about the patrons experience as they stopped by to ask about our experience) Very calming and warm atmosphere. This breakfast spot appeals to all generations as we saw people of all ages eating here. They have something for everyone. Definitely recommending this place to family and friends. Can't wait to go back to try their lunch menu.

The vibes of CRU are immaculate. Retro, friendly, comforting, & suave. The quality of food to price of food ratio is inspiring - I love a heaping salad with seasonal fruits & vegetables for just $8. Most of the menu can be made gluten-free, which brings a tear to my eye. Don't sleep on the pan-fried turnip cake. Sounds strange, right? I crave it constantly. The issue was when we tried to get clarification on allergy-friendly options. We understood the menu may not accommodate certain dietary restrictions, but we were trying to order for other members of our family while also double-checking in person if anything could work for our child. What made the experience frustrating was how we were handled. We were told to stand outside and order online--in 25-degree weather--with a child, instead of being allowed to step inside briefly to order and ask questions. For a business serving pastries to-go, that felt unreasonable. We were also told the stools were reserved, despite there being only two patrons in the entire establishment. The staff came across as dismissive from the moment we walked in. It's a shame because we were really looking forward to the food, but no meal is worth being treated poorly. Business is business, but basic hospitality and courtesy matter.

I'm grateful don't get me wrong just.... The food was delicious though. I'm not a huge biscuit person but the biscuit was yummy and flaky which I feel like is different from normal ones? Idk regardless was good and it came with grapefruit jam and butter yum. The hash browns were hands down my fav dish. So oily and crispy and everything a hash brown should be MMMM plus the aioli and cubed presentation. The pancakes were so good and fluffy and GIANT and the whipped butter was yummy on top. The maitake madame was something different but nonetheless good. It was very mustardy but also not too overwhelmingly mustardy and the cheese on top the crispy bread was perfect. All in all the food was superb but the long wait time is what ultimately brought this rating down. The place was also very crowded and lively up until closing, no doubt due to the delicious food

Soaring through the…read morestreets of Warren and Swansea, flanked by woods and water, were just the beginning of a magical experience. Then came the destination: at first, I doubted myself because I thought I was just looking at a bakery. When I pulled into the parking lot and opened the front door, I finally began to understand what "hole-in-the-wall" truly meant. Not only was the family ownership and honest-to-goodness service in place the minute I entered, but the sampling of lightly-seasoned bread with olive oil was the definitive way to begin dinner. When I came here last weekend with my stepbrother and his gf, I had finished a workout earlier that day, so the idea of a chicken parm dished mixed with bolognese sauce sounded killer; all of us had ordered that exact dish! Boy, was my hunch trustworthy. A comforting mix of seasonings, a breading with a well-done crispness around the edges, and a quality of meat that felt wholesome without being overbearing were the elements that comprised a hearty serving of cheese-stuffed ravioli. The following Saturday, my mother and stepfather were more than happy to reserve seating (when you're a small restaurant with a penchant for legendary cooking, even the weekdays are bound to be packed). While my mother gorged on a plain chicken parm and my old man was enthused with his seafood platter, I dove into creamy pink vodka sauce and smoky sweet Italian sausage. The bacon-y flavor of the sausage complemented the sharp cheesiness of the broth, culminating in a spectacle of flavors that never stopped short of excellence. While the Nutella-filled egg dessert I had on the first day was nice, I was told that most of the offerings provided in the bakery were crafted by a Boston-based confectioner. What was homemade, however, was a fruity pie carefully designed and baked by the proprietor's wife. The crostata, as it was called, tasted just as scrumptious as the description of apples and raspberries and gooey gelato that I had been provided. One of the reasons I support small is because there's no conglomerate overreach to corrupt the flavors a competitive small-town scene can offer, which Spaghetti Lane perfectly embodied. When Mike the founder had been so uplifted by vocal enthusiasm for his business, he was generous to provide me with a Spaghetti Lane-branded shirt. I told him he truly did not have to offer such a generous gift, but I thanked him nonetheless afterward. I must also point out the ambience of the restaurant. The place was comprised of two dining rooms: one of which leaned into the elegance of Italian spirits stacked neatly on shelves and the hypersonic drift of Italo Disco filling the air, the other was a contemporary-style cafe setting with a dessert cashier and a giant cabinet lined with cannoli, cheesecake, and whoopie pies. For some reason, my soul lit up when I heard the Umberto Tozzi version of "Gloria" as I was chomping on my penne. Now that's a vibe. That's my TED Talk. Thank you, everyone!
