Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The breakfast is second to none. You have to try the ham (off the bone) or the homemade hash. I'm just working in the area so I haven't had a chance to have a taste of everything but I only wish I had a restaurant like this in my town. Lovely as always - I usually get the eggs benedict or bacon mack and sometimesss a mimosa. I love getting takeout when it's busy!

The service was very friendly and very attentive. The ambiance is very nice, clean, new, spacious. We had breakfast with generous portions but we found the food to be just ok. The pancakes were huge but a bit rubbery. The fruit salad was excellent - fresh and a very nice variety of fruit, not the usual just melons. We didn't care for the breakfast sausage flavor but that is probably just our taste. The bacon and eggs were fine. I wish they had more hot tea options beyond Lipton. read more

This review is long overdue. I moved to Riverside about 2 months ago and found Farnsworth Cafe on a walk. It's about a mile from where I live so, perfect for a morning stroll to grab a bite. Always busy yet, they never make you feel rushed. Food is delicious (if you get toast, get the italian) and prices reasonable for the quantity and quality. They obviously have regulars because more than once, someone walked in the door and got a greeting straight from "Cheers". It's really the place where everybody knows your name and very inviting. My s/o and I have eaten there a few times as well as getting take out once. Even getting take out, their fabulous personalities shine. Accidentally called after they closed for lunch and the man (oh how I wish I got his name) told me, "I'm not goin anywhere, I got you. Whatya like?" He then made me and my s/o scrumptious noms for us to come and grab. I was just there today for coffee and french toast. No photos to share for that but, I posted some pictures from a couple visits ago. I highly recommend giving them a try. Upon arrival there is no host. There's a small waiting area where we sat until a waitress stopped by to ask who was next to be seated. We ended up seating ourselves at the counter where it took a while to be noticed. Most of the staff clearly work their tails off. Some of the staff clearly don't. One of the best places for breakfast you've probably never heard of. From staff, service, food, and price Farnsworth Cafe is one destination I'd go out of my way for to dine. Daily specials are unique and appealing to the eye and don't disappoint! Linda was our server and did an amazing job taking care of us. I had her make my selection and she came through in grand fashion. She hooked me up with "The Hunter" and with senses and tastebuds on high alert, I took it on with pleasure. Great brunch spot. Came a few weekends ago and was lucky to get one of the last tables. After we got in, a line started to form - never a bad sign. We both got the "hunter" which consisted of eggs, bacon, sauseez, homefries and pancakes or French toast - he loves his hash so we got a side of corned beef hash on top of it all. My bf really liked the French toast and there was plenty enough to take home. Everything was good and service to match. They made us feel like regulars already. Sweet spot near our Airbnb. Very friendly service. You can tell by the clientele and the conversation that it's a favorite local spot for many. We popped in on a Saturday morning and both had The Hunter. The best of all worlds. Really good food. Only kink was the OJ was not fresh squeezed. Farnsworth Cafe is a wonderful family owned and operated restaurant located in Riverside. I have only been here for breakfast... in fact, until writing this review, I don't think I was wholly aware they served anything past lunch. I'm looking forward to ordering dinner from here in the near future (free delivery!). This place has a palpable hometown feel... the regulars all know each other, families convene with babies to grandparents, and the waitresses are friendly as can be. You can't argue with the price and the spread is fantastic. On my last visit I ordered "The Hunter" @ $8.00, which comes with 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 sausages, 2 strips of bacon, toast, and home fries. I opted for raisin toast (yum!)... the bacon is thick and delicious, the pancakes light and fluffy. And if that's not enough food for you, get the homemade corned beef hash! They also have a chourico option, but the irish in me couldn't give up the corned beef. My god, its sooooo good. Top it off with a glass of coffee milk and you've got yourself a genuine Rhode Island experience. I visited late morning and the place was packed. I got the last spot in the parking lot and the last table in the place but service was quick and the food was ready in no time. So after we bought our home the first place we went to was farnsworth cafe! I have celiac and it's so hard for people to understand this, it's not just a gluten intolerance, but this place knew what I was talking about and was able to make me a great meal! And always always has !! Been coming here since 2016 and highly recommend the breakfast menu, lunch/dinner! Everything it's delicious !!!! My fiancé loves the meatloaf, I loveeee the burger and the soup when they have gluten free soup which they usually do! I also love the staff!! And if you get delivery , they're very fast!!! And the food is always hot !!! I couldn't ask for better serve, or better food, this is my favorite place to dine in, and get take out on a night where I don't feel like cooking lol thank you guys for having such an awesome diner !! Love this cafe for breakfast we visit once a month. They have it all at great prices. My favorite is the Benedict. It's amazing with ham and a side of hash brown. Also good are their big omelets with any veggies. Pancakes are fluffy add strawberrys and whip cream, you won't regret it! It's always super packed but the wait isn't much more then 5min and staff is super friendly always checking how we are. Our 2yr son loves their shredded hash browns too. First visit here for breakfast. I had dinner take out here several years ago and it was just ok. Too many options in the area to settle for just ok. Quiet here on a week day. Acknowledged and seated as soon as I entered. My server was friendly and efficient and loud but nice. Coffee was good and strong. I had the Eggs Benedict special with Italian sausage instead of Canadian bacon (ham) and home fries. Home fries were ok not awesome. Cooked all the way through at least. The Italian sausage was diced not whole strips as I was expecting. That was disappointing. English muffin was grilled. Best thing on the plate. The poached eggs were undercooked. As soon as my server set them down I saw them moving like a tsunami gaining momentum. At any moment they were going to race towards the edge of the plate and end up in my lap. These eggs were snotty. The raisin bread they serve there was very good, so was the omelette. Didn't find anything new or exciting on the menu though. Pretty much a regular cafe. Given how totally average this place was, I find myself unrationally smitten. Would never have wandered down this way for brunch had I not been en route to Bristol. It's not worth a special trip, but it is authentically "townie" if you happen to find yourself in the neighborhood and are interested in viewing some awesome Riverside throwback decorations (photos from the resort glory days of yore- carousel, etc). Or if you want to sample the fluffiest pancakes I've ever seen or tasted. Or if you like your coffee refilled at lightning speed. I happily tried the "Mack and Hash". The Mack, egg and cheese on an English muffin, was standard. Well done for what it was but it was nothing special. The hash was yummy - but I think hash should be its own food group I love it so much... so I may not be the best judge. The home fries need some work. Not pan fried with onions or peppers like I'm used to - these home fries were deep fried like French fries. They tasted like French fires. They were French fries cut like home fries.... which I found a bit disturbing yet somehow still loved that this was how they roll. Servers as warm and quick as they come. Diners a mix of high school kids in their pajama pants, retired couples, and families. Curious to try the "benedict" that uses creamy alfredo sauce and spinach instead of hollandaise. Nothing special on the food front, but very warm and welcoming if you need your townie fix. oh - and they have beer! not that I like beer with brunch, but like any good townie stronghold, they're open 6am-8pmish. My boyfriend and I come here for breakfast quite often and it is always excellent. Service is always attentive and friendly, and your coffee cup will never be low. I'm obsessed with the pancakes here, so fluffy and delicious, especially the daily special ones. The side of ham is a huuuuuge slab of meat and it's perfect for the two of us to share. I find it can tend to be a little pricier than comparable breakfast spots, but it's worth it. Haven't been for lunch/dinner yet but look forward to trying it out! read more
